Re: A Great Piece Of Indian Motorcycle History
hi there, i used to work at the Indian motorcycle plant in Gilroy Calf.It was a very sad day when they closed. I'm so glad they started back up. It was a true honor and pleasure to work there. I really took a lot of pride at my job, just as I'm sure, these people will in their new facility. Working for a company with so much prestige and heritage isn't really like work at all. IT'S AN HONOR! I just wanted to say good luck Indian. I KNOW THIS TIME YOUR HERE TO STAY!!!!!! and I can't wait till they open up a dealership near me.

Re: A Great Piece Of Indian Motorcycle History
Great find!! Pleased to hear that Indian is coming back (again)! So many rumors that it was lost (probably started by HD). Can't wait to see the new model.

Re: A Great Piece Of Indian Motorcycle History
It's great to see the Indian return to the American frontier. Once back up an running, we'll have three great brands of bikes: Victory, HD, Indian. I have a Victory and love the Chief. Welcome to the 21 Century! So what if Japan took the Gold Wing back to Japan...

Re: A Great Piece Of Indian Motorcycle History
Well for one I am glad to see that the effort to bring Indian back is in place. We at “ClassicsMotorSports” have been restoring the Original Indians since 1976. Then when the Gilroy factory shut down we started servicing those bikes as well and we will continue to do so. I agree that there are many unsold HD's, Victory’s and other brands on the showroom floors. Part of the current problem with the motorcycle industry is the price on the motorcycles is not proportional in comparison to other vehicles. Up until a few years ago, a motorcycle was always an affordable alternative or even a very affordable extra. Now a days it is a very expensive proposition. What the New Indian venture needs to do is introduce models that will appeal to everyone and price ranges that are affordable and will sell. However with only 2-3 models at very high prices how can anyone expect to compete effectively. Like in the old days there needs to be multiple models and styles at various price structures. Such as "Junior Scout, Sport Scout, Scout, Chief and a Big Chief with an Indian Sidecar". This way there can be a motorcycle for everyone in their price range. The New Indian company needs offer models that will not only compete with HD and the other companies but will outsell them. Who would have ever thought that the Russian “Ural” motorcycles with a sidecar would take off and sell like they are doing. Multiple Models and Good Pricing Structure is the key to their success.
The New Indian Motorcycle Company needs to have Multiple Models of Great Quality backed by an Outstanding warranty, a strong dealership presence and “Competitive prices”. We at ClassicsMotorSports” would gladly consider being an Authorized Exclusive Indian Dealer

Re: A Great Piece Of Indian Motorcycle History
Does anyone have any idea what price ranges we can expect to pay for a new Chief? I've looked everywhere and cannot seem to find an actual MSRP on these bikes. I can't imagine reserving a new bike with my hard-earned $1000 and not even know what the final price of the product will be.

Re: A Great Piece Of Indian Motorcycle History
I agree with brandon e on this one the big skirt is what makes the bike stand out, I have an 02 Chief and other than being scotish and being in a big wind a big skirt is the only way to go. Just reckon I love skirts and what is in them...

The future will surpass the past :p
Hi Riders,
I will never be able to afford an Indian (or even a Harley for that matter) ; and there is no dealer support for American bikes in India.
I ride a Royal Enfield Bullet (older than both the American Icons LOLz) and if I ever wanted to really own a luxury in Life, it would be the Indian Motorcycle.
Hope to see you guys roll onto the road of success, more fame and history books of the 21st century as well.
Thanks for the newsletter and the blog ; keep it up and keep riding.

I believe that D.W. Griffith in that Czech film! If so, there is probably more film footage of this same race in an archive somewhere! Certainly an interesting piece of history.

A Great Piece Of Indian Motorcycle History
Indian is an icon of american motorcycle history and a great looking machine. I love the classic lines of the 2009 Chief. It is a great looking bike and I wish the company much luck and many sales in the future. I ride a Harley Davidson and I love it. I would love to ride an Indian some day as well. My biggest concern is value for the price. I will test drive a chief when they are out there on the market to see if the value of the motorcycle is over $30 K. I think Indian's biggest mistake in re-entering the market last time was thinking that they could sell a motorcycle with the same features as a Harley for $10 K more.
