Re: Bert Baker from Baker Drivetrain test rides the new 2009 Chief
Great letter and glad to hear details of the very area's we would consider the most important....I however will hang on to my Gilroy era chief, but I truely wish IM the greatest success and hope the economic times will be survivable...We have waited a long time for Indian to come back....

Re: Bert Baker from Baker Drivetrain test rides the new 2009 Chief
I am excited to hear Bert's positive comments on the new Indian. I ride a Harley but Indian is my favourite motorcycle. It was the first bike I ever had a ride on (47 chief) and I will eventually have my Indian. Times are tough right now & probably will get worse but one thing is for certain... Indian is the only motorcycle that Harley riders will accept as an equal. Harley Davidson beware, the boys are back in town.

Great letter based on the kind of experience I wanted to hear also. I too am worried/pulling for you guys to make it starting a new venture in hard times. Advantage,,,,,Indian!!!!!!!!!! Hang in there I want one. A suggestion, routinely inform your following on your website of your economic progress/successes. I believe there are a lot of riders out there waiting to see you make it past years one and two. Your concept of two man teams and growing slow with quality is the way to go and is impressing a lot of riders even those Harley riders waiting for you to fail. Hail to the new Wigwam!

Indian Motorcycle couldn't've had a more unbiased opinion than Bert Baker provided. Bert is too modest regarding his knowledge; he knows how a motorcycle is supposed to handle. I'm sold... and I also think that Indians founders, George Hendee and Oscar Hedstrom, would be proud of what is happening in Kings Mountain, NC.

Re: Bert Baker from Baker Drivetrain test rides the new 2009 Chief
That was a great letter and most informative, I own a 2002 Spirit and a Harley and if the new 2009 rides and handles that well I may be a 2 Indian bike owner. I hope soon that a dealer will be in the Portland, Or area. would like to experience the ride for myself. thanks so much for the info, and I wish the IM people great success...

Rare, very old, great-quality footage of Indians kicking-butt on the track

Re: Bert Baker from Baker Drivetrain test rides the new 2009 Chief
Flying into Frankfurt Germany on my way to Eastern Europe, I grabbed my usual newspapers for the ensuing flight leg. The Financial Times Weekend Magazine for December 12 (ironicly titled "How To Spend It"--as only the Brits can wryly muse in today's economic atmosphere) stopped me right at the gate. I stepped back and stared at the cover. There stared back at me a deep red Indian motorcycle in front of the Valley Corner Diner. All I could think was "Whooahh...." Turning to the story entitled "Reborn To Be Wild" I couldn't satisfy my need for more information. I should be working, but instead I'm cruising the internet searching for more information regarding the new Indian. The Baker Drivetrain letter satisfied my appetite for a while, but my mind already needs more. The Czech YouTube video of 1920's Indian Daytona boardtrack races is absolutely great historically --it celebrates the Indian pedigree, but I need more information--I need more reviews. Boys--if I can offer ANY advice at all--it is: ADVERTISE. MARKET and ADVERTISE. NOW. So you can become wealthy old men like you deserve. To some extent, you have ruined my 50th birthday this coming March. I had placed a deposit on my gift--a custom color 2009 Harley Custom Deluxe. I realize now that I will be losing that deposit. I don't like to lose money. I will have to resign this loss to my little used life experience column labelled "price for doing business." With Indian.
