History Comes to Life: Firing up the "Munro Special"

The Indian Motorcycle® display at the 2012 Long Beach International Motorcycle Show featured the one and only "Munro Special." That’s the machine on which Burt Munro set a world land speed record in 1967 at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Fueled by a passion for speed, Burt used innovative, home-brewed engineering to draw explosive, record-setting power from his 1920 Indian® Scout®. In this video from the Long Beach IMS, the Munro Special engine is fired and revved up to the ear-splitting delight of riders gathered to hear a rich chapter of Indian Motorcycle® history.
