I climbed on an Indian Motorcycle in a friend’s garage as a child and it sparked my interest in riding. I was so curious how the Indian Motorcycle name came to be. Through the years I would read articles and watch every video I could find. As the office manager at the first Alberta dealership to carry the brand in 2014, I had access to learn everything possible about the brand’s current design directly and the opportunity to ride every model as released.

I chose the 2021 Ruby Smoke Chieftain Darkhorse because it gave me the ability to travel independently in comfort.  I love the power and reliability of the 116 engine, I can easily keep up with the best of them.  I get approached often by female riders, I speak to the low center of gravity, benefit of the 25-degree rake, and my low fairing for great sight lines. The technology is second to none, it’s an agile well weighted, powerful machine.  I have other brands of bikes, but “Ruby” is my go-to ride.

Riding an Indian Motorcycle means everything to me. I rebuilt my life from the ground up several years ago and my bike has allowed me to create a space where I could feel free and empowered.  I often travel alone and am reminded of the value of independence. I work hard to motivate other women to do the same.  Planning your own route, packing your own gear, learning to listen and work with your bike these are powerful lessons that carry over into all aspects of life.

I’m proud of my culture and to be a female rider – the brand history and logo represent resilience to me. I volunteer with MMIW and have ridden with the Medicine Wheel riders in the U.S. I use my bike to start conversations to educate people and create awareness about this passionate topic. It’s hard to miss me in my ribbon skirt on my ruby smoke Chieftain Darkhorse, lol!
