2020 Indian Scout Sixty Thunder Black is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 350.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smooth ride! Love that my Scout 60 rides as smooth as it does. It's hard not to put excessive miles on it as nice as the South Florida weather has been lately.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my Scout! Traded my 2004 HD Ultra Classic on my Scout....bought in mid-April. 5800 miles and many accessories later I am so happy with my decision. I'm a 59 year young female and have been riding for 14 years. Indian is #1 in my eyes!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bike ever This is my first motorcycle I have ever owned. My husband has a Harley Davidson, so of course he wanted me to get one too. Every Harley I test drove, did not give me the confidence or comfortableness that I was searching. When I went to the Indian dealership and test drove the Scout Sixty, I immediately fell in love. This is so much more than a beginner bike, it has so much power that even my husband likes to drive it around. But I did put a Vance and Hines exhaust on it, because it is too quiet stock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Bike I bought the Scout sixty in July of 16. I now have 8500 + miles. I have been riding to close to 50 years and have loved many of the bikes I have owned but none more than my Scout. I have very bad knees so I wanted a liter bike , she fits the bill 100 %. Pick up, mileage, comfort all in one package. But as many have already posted the accessories are way over priced. My dealer was fantastic , great staff very cool owner.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the vintage Indian look Disappointed with clear coat and paint quality. Love the bike otherwise. Accessories mainly good quality but highly over priced. OEM windshield very in affective replaced immediately with after market. Saddle bags should be genuine leather not cheap vinyl for outrageous cost. Calgary, Alberta dealer terrible to deal with, drove 700 kms to another province to deal with them, Discovery in Saskatoon was great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bike, once you accessorize I bought my Sixty in late 2016 and have over 7500 miles on it. I love the bike - it performs well and can be used for limited touring. My only beef is that I ended up having to upgrade several of the stock features - some may be fine with the bike as is, but I swapped out the following: Kenda tires for Michelin Commander IIs (essential upgrade - it makes a world of difference), OEM headlight for an LED, reduced reach handlebars just because I'm shorter than average, the Scout's torpedo tube mufflers for Crushers (this also is an essential upgrade, IMO), aftermarket saddlebags (a matter of taste and less pricey than Indian's), the Indian 1920 solo seat which looks awesome and is very comfortable for me, and an Aeromach heal shifter. So the great news is: its customizable/upgradable. The slight downside is that once you've gone down that route, you've got around $13K into it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Young Again I’ve had my baby nearly a month and I look forward to riding this 2018 Scout Sixty every day, regardless of the weather conditions. It’s been nearly 15 years since I’ve ridden and I’m glad that I’ve had an opportunity to enjoy this well balanced, properly powered machine! This is absolutely the perfect motorcycle for any beginner, even my veteran riding friends enjoy this bike. You will too!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great engine, wretched ergonomics The 60 handled well for a cruiser, and while it's the smallest engine, it's more than capable. I also rode a Bobber. The riding position absolutely sucked on both though=much worse on the Bobber. With your feet so far forward, all your weight is on your butt, and that saddle is atrocious. Within five minutes I wanted off. And that was the 60. On the bobber I felt like a "C" clamp. That riding position is absolutely evil. And that's too bad. It bends into corners nicely (as long as you don't lean too far . . . .), accelerates nicely, and has great brakes. It could be a great bike, but all the fabulous engineers' efforts pale behind the idiot who designed the seat and riding position. Just for background, I've put about 200K miles on various bikes since I got back into riding in 2004. I've currently got a Kawasaki W650, a Suzuki DRz-400, a BMW R75/5, a BMW R1100S, and a BMW R1150GS. Last summer I qualified for the BMW 100K mile award.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "Honey, look at the beautiful Indian!" I was enjoying the majestic view at roads end when the wife of a Harley t-shirt wearing gentlemen yelled "Honey, look at the beautiful Indian!" He grumbled, turned on his heel and walked away wondering why he doesn't own one of those "beautiful Indians" his wife loves so much. This bike is a work of art. Less typing. More riding.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from All good things can be done better It's rained everyday since I bought the bike so I've only been able to put a handful of miles on it. Very small style things. As the 60 is mostly blacked out I have to wonder why the mirrors, blinkers, and exhaust were left chrome. And an ABS option would have been outstanding. I understand Indians drive to take a platform and make it more available price wise, these little things would have made the bike a perfect ten in my eyes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best ride ever! I am fewer than 90 days and 300 miles into my ownership of a 2016 Indian Scout 60 and could not be happier. I've never felt as part of a motorcycle while riding as I do with this one. It looks great, sounds great, and rides great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Indian scout sixty I bought it a couple months ago and It's the best bike I've ever riden. It sounds amazing with the Vance and Hines grenade high output exhaust system that I had installed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Looks nice I bought this bike in august and already the starter went out. The dealership replaced it but now it's starting to do the same thing again. The bike looks great but hasn't met my expectations and it's an investment I'm not happy about.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The total package The "sixty" is the perfect bike. I looked for several years before I replaced my previous ride. It took so long because there was not a bike that could do everything right but be a jack of all trades. The Indian Scout in either form is that bike. It looks great, it rides great, the engine is magnificent. The there is the price. There just isn't this much motorcycle available for this little money, especially the "sixty". I have gone on long rides where the metric riders just want to be home. The Harley riders are hoping they are close and I feel just fine with a stock seat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Older Guy New Toy Let me start by saying I'm 70 years old and new to biking. I guess you can say I'm having my "Old Man Crisis". I love my Scout Sixty! Its got plenty of power without being overwhelming for a guy my age. It handles great bot in the country or on the highway. I'm glad that a bike like this exist. It fits me like a glove. Thanks!!!1

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprising amount of power and very smooth I bought this to replace an 883 Sportster as a second bike and for my girlfriend to ride. It's by far the best "entry level" cruiser I've owned. Other than the 883 Sportster I've also owned a Honda Shadow 750 Spirit. The Scout has a smoother, more powerful engine than both. It's also better balanced and handles better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Bike Really like the bike so far. Bought this for my wife because of the low seat height and light weight. She is a beginner rider and has no problem handling the bike. Looks are fantastic and power is awesome. Very happy with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Midsize Cruiser Pros: Love the looks of the Scout Love the (mostly) blacked out Sixty Fun, great performance and handling Great Price and value Cons: Limited accessories (market is growing though) Wish the Big Sister Scout was all blacked out Wish the Scout was blacked out as much as the Dark Horse Needs better tires, these tires are acceptable but could be better Wish Cruise Control was optional ABS should be standard or at least optional on all models

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 2k into my 60 Now that she's broken in and we have a few miles together I am enjoying my Mistress more and more. She responds well to my touch and I get plenty of nods from other bikers as we cruz the backroads.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good bike, can't customise I bought this bike, because I love the style of the engine. Now that I have it, I see you can really only put Indian parts on it. That sucks. Instead of Indian making it standard that put a lot of proprietary parts on it. (I.e. the bar mounts. The top of the bar mounts holds the Speedo, so no risers. As for the bars. 1 inch bars that step down to 7/8 for the grips. So new bars = new handle controls, or spacers in the stock risers.) Would be an amazing bike, if you could easily make it yours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Bike!! OMG! Traded my Triumph Speedmaster (rode for 11 years) for the Indian Scout. When I set my eyes on the bike, it was love at first sight. The balance is great. Handles beautifully. I have rode my scout more in the 2 + months I have had it than my Triumph for the past year. I got the V & H pipes that roar perfectly. I am 60 yrs old and thought my bike days were almost over. Not at all!! My husband is 70, and he also bought a scout. And living in Florida is certainly a plus for riding. Really, really love the bike, as I tell my husband constantly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One Year Review 6000 miles, never a dull moment. Don't get fooled by the critical reviews, there are bound to be a few lemons. I had a bad tank sensor that was taken care of immediately. I ride my bike on dirt 2 tracks and let's just say, well past the recommended tire rating on occasion (with a couple grand to go before redline). Never have felt that I wasn't 100% in control. The low stance and fat tires make her a much better bike than her HD competition. It's nice to have a bike that few others have, she gets compliments everywhere she goes. Buy One.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow is all I have to say Purchased my Indian Scout 60 a week & a half ago. I have not ridden a bike regularly for 30 years (and back then it was motocross bikes). I sat on this bike in the showroom, no test ride prior to purchase, but I knew it felt just right. I am LOVING this bike, easy to ride, smooth, lots of power and runs like a dream. Thank you Peak Powersports, Oakville Ontario Canada.

Scout
Starting at $14,499 CA MSRP
2019 Indian Scout Indian Motorcycle® Red / Thunder Black (ABS) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 899.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great around town ride ! I traded in a Yamaha 1300 V-Star. That bike was really more for touring, which I never do. The Scout has several features I like. Nice looks abound; even the squared off highway bars are about the best I have even seen. The weight is about 100 lbs less than the old bike, which was appealing. Instrumentation is better than the old bike as well. The shift points are really better than the Yamaha, and are noticeable. I can tell the gearing is such to keep the RPMs a bit higher than the old bike, I think to keep more power available if I ever need it. That is all good. MPG numbers seem equal to the old bike, which is ok since I have more power available. Nice job guys.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy Tall Rider This motorcycle is everything I wanted out of a bike. I was hesitant, as I have lower back trouble, and am 6'7", with a 36" inseam. I have the extended foot controls, and the extended seat, with the standard bars, and I can ride for hundreds of miles a day in comfort. I've made a few simple modifications (steel cargo rack, custom...louder...exhaust, hand grips wrapped), but overall I greatly enjoy this bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Ride I was meant to experience. This motorbike wasn't purchased without some serious consideration, and time spent researching. It did not disappoint. In fact, exceeded my expectations. It's first trip was across the border, into Canada and around the Great lakes. Not only did he perform in such a way I felt joy every time I threw my leg over,I also experienced exhilaration as he was a head turner and new to other riders. When the specs were shared, the excitement only grew in other bikers. This motorcycle did not give me what I expected-I've gained a whole lot more. See y'all on the road

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Cruiser Well built motorcycle with the exception of the location of the rear exhaust header being way too close to the rider's right inner leg causing heat discomfort while sitting still. I'm still working with solutions to correct this engineering/design issue without having to replace the OEM exhaust system. Note: There is plenty of room for this rear header pipe to be made closer to the frame, away from the rider. Stock mufflers were way too quiet and replaced with Bassani fishtail slip-ons.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from '16 Scout review I've never owned a street bike before buying the Scout. I rode dirt bikes growing up but stopped riding when the kids arrived. Now the kids have moved out it was time to start riding again. Wanting an american made v twin I chose the Indian Scout based on reviews and the fact I can't stand the looks of a Sportster. I have nothing against Harleys but being a beginning rider I didn't want something in the 700 lb range to learn to ride on. I purchased the 2016 scout without even taking a test ride. Once I decide I'm no longer a beginner I look forward to owning a variant of the Chief line having not decided which I like best at this time. For the time being I always look forward putting more miles on the Scout and I couldn't be happier.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from not a reliable bike, price is very high i bought this bike nov 26 or 27 and now two weeks in it wont start. my buddy bought his a week ago and its having the same problem. with that being said its 25 degrees here and im new to riding but all the guys that i know that have been riding for a long time said brand new bikes should not be having a starting issue like this. for the money this thing cost me i could have had a harley and 4000 more to play with. i didnt buy a bike to send it in and out of the dealer to get fixed. Though i will say the staff at my local dealership are very helpful and working with me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Bike I have ever owned, Really!!!!!!! I bought this Bike late last season, There is no Indian dealer in Alaska, Had to get it out of Washington, Lynnwood Moto-Plex, Yes I bought the Scout without a test ride, but after viewing 60-70 u-tubes, I pulled the trigger and have not looked back since! Working through the logistics with the Dealer is a whole nether chapter! Finally got it here and 4hrs later Won Ambassadors choice in the bear paw festival. Nice!! Thanks Indian, I will have this Bike forever, Evan

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I got one of the earlist ones ... ...& couldn't be happier, overall -- DESPITE the fact that the engine suffered catastrophic failure at only 1600 miles & required hand-rebuild by the selling dealer. All of the expenses (except travel time/costs) were covered under warranty, & although the turnaround time was a bit extreme (thanks to difficulty obtaining replacement parts from the factory -- some of which had to actually be pulled off the assembly line for new bikes), the final outcome seems to be an engine that actually feels 'freer' & more broken-in (mine has the factory performance upgrade). Now if they could only have done better on the ridiculously overpriced side=bags & mounts (re: which I went aftermarket...)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my Scouts! Both of them! We bought two - one for me and one for my spouse, and we couldn't love a bike more. Easy to ride, light, fast, confidence inspiring. And gorgeous! We bought the brown saddle bags, windshields, and a few other add ons, and we get stopped all of the time. We like to park where we can see them (when stopping for lunch, etc.) and people are always stopping, staring, and taking photos. Amazing product. We are huge Indian fans! LOVE these machines. They truly have it all... looks, quality, speed, style, and at a price that doesn't break the bank.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2015 Indian Scout Love, love, love this motorcycle. I've owned all types and models, but this is the first I've ever felt compelled to purchase brand new. The looks are amazing, and the engine - oh my goodness, that engine!!!! Thank you Polaris for not just bringing back Indian, but honoring it's distinguished history while advancing the brand's technology and build quality beyond what is offered by other motorcycle companies!!! This was my first Indian, and it certainly won't be my last. Because of the Scout and my experience with Indian - I'm hooked, and I'll be back for another new "motocycle" in the near future!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 2016 Indian scout AMAZING! I live in upstate New York and haven lt haven't have much seat time since I bought my scout in February. In have 55 miles in it now and I love the bike. This is my first cruiser. I added the mini ape bangers and stage 1 exhaust sounds amazing. I also have the saddle bags and passager seat. So far I have no issue with the performance and handling of the bike love the ride only a few things I would change are two things why would you make saddle bags that cost $1000 and not have a way to lock them and only offer quick release so someone can walk off with them. Thank god I have someonwho works with me that works Leather and is putting locks on them for me. Second why the heck wouldn't you put a steering stem lock on the American version but the European version they should make it standards across the board. Here are a few photos one is of my great grandfather on his Indian back in the day I do believe it was a 1914 tourists standard model.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smooth and balanced I had not rode a motorcycle in a decade got on the scout and it was like I had been riding steadily for that lost time. My dream growing up was to own an Indian just like one of the coolest cats to ever grace earth, Steve McQueen. I feel it ever time I'm on it. The compliments and disbelief that Indian is back and is it ever. Don't just take my word, find a dealer and test one out. You'll feel like you're on a bigger bike with better control but that sturdy feeling you get from the bigger bikes out there. The only negative I would give it is the same with any stock bike, the weak sounding pipes but for 200 xchoppers slip ones pipes has mine sounding like 400 dollars slip ones

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Bike I quit riding for almost ten year when my friend was killed on his bike. I stated getting the itch again and brought it up to my wife and she said maybe it was time. I began looking at all the brands and models. I wanted something unique that one that you wouldn't see at every other stop. I came across the Indian website and there she was in red. She was in red and was different from the other models I had seen. I showed it to my wife and she said that's the only bike I'll LET you buy. There wasn't any argument from me so I pre-ordered my first run and haven't looked back. It's comfortable, plenty of power and easy to handle. I'd recommend a scout to anyone whether your a seasoned or new.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1st Run 2015 Scout I was on my way to buy a Harley when I saw the advertisement for a first Run 2015 Scout. I turned around and went home and called the closest Indian dealer and he said I would have to go on a waiting list and December 25 2015 I picked it up and it was the first one delivered and wow what a bike. It will never be traded or sold.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great so far! I bought the scout about a month ago. Have only about 800 miles on it so far due to about a week and a half of rain :-( The bike has plenty of giddy up as it can keep up with my buddies 1700 CC bike. The only negative is the exhaust is a little quiet for my taste. I suppose it could be a positive for many though. The brown leather seats really looks good and accents the bike nicely. I get about 100 miles to a tank and it usually is a little less than 3 gallons of gas to fill it up. Overall the bike is now my baby and I would highly reccommend test driving one if you are even remotely interested.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Never again Wonderful bike - Rides great - but 3 local dealerships including the one I purchased it from are horrible for service - they are all too too concerned with the multiple brands they sell - they have no interest in warranty work - I have had to pay for all the work I have needed - got told today gauge replacement and moving mileage over is too much work - so another $1000 out of pocket have it done right.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm in love with this machine! Nearly six thousand miles later, and I'm still in love. Only two changes so far; one mandatory and one optional. The stock horn (like all stock horns) is very weak...a little "meep" when hit. For $10.50 I bought a FIAMM Freeway Blaster horn from Amazon. Same connections so a piece of cake to put in. The option was a pair of 3 inch Bassani slip on pipes, which are louder and throatier than the stock exhaust, and are the perfect change. All the guys I ride with have Harley's; mostly Road Kings. I wouldn't swap if I could, and as the odd Indian, I get all the attention at biker events :).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful styling, fabulous handling, first class. Did a demo ride Nov.'15 in Long Beach, CA and was hooked. Had to have one. Every report I read, gave it glowing accolades. The video, "A New Legacy; The 2015 Scout" with both engineers explaining how and why they designed the Scout trying to keep some of the history and considering how the Scout might have evolved if Indian had never gone out of business, is a fabulous watch. I have watched it numerous times.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Road Bike - Love It!!! While I had to wait 3 months for my Scout, it was worth it! I grew up riding dirt bikes and the transition to this one was super easy. It's light enough to handle easily, and has plenty of power. My only criticism is that there's no gas gauge - just a warning light. Yes, you have a trip meter so you can probably predict when you're getting low, but since the tank is fairly small compared to my friends with bigger bikes, I have to stop for gas before they do. That does not take away the joy of riding, though! My 80 year old dad just rode it (lifetime motorcycle guy) and HE loved it, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dream machine I dreamt about owning one of these bikes since I very first saw it in a magazine in 2015. Indian is the perfect embodiment of true Americana style, tradition, and a completely self confident machine that doesn't need to rely on an unfortunate ego like some other brands. For me, riding a motorcycle is all about the love of adventure, untethered freedom, and the bond forged between man and machine. Together, we can experience life fully.. wild, raw, and completely natural. Riding a motorcycle is a way of life much like the romanticized Cowboys of the old west. When I first rode my Indian scout, I knew it was a match made in heaven. It's a partnership that I will savor for many many years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Terrific Motorcycle I traded in a Slingshot for my 2017 Icon ABS Scout. I am extremely happy I did. I've had it for two months and have put 1200 miles on it. The Scout is an absolutely great motorcycle. Very little vibration, very responsive, sounds great, and is made very well. The bike is easy to ride and slow speed maneuverability is excellent. The Icon paint job turns heads everywhere I take it. This is my first Indian and I'm so impressed with it that I plan on buying a Chief soon and I will have the Scout and the Chief.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Its just a GREAT machine. I was ready to buy a new bike early in 2016. I tried various motorbikes whilst I was looking and none of them hit the spot for me. I went to my local dealer to test ride a 3 more motorbikes and was disappointed with them all. The sales manager suggested I test the Indian and I liked it straight away. It wasn't on my list, but I am glad I tried it. It handled well, performance was excellent and I love the look. I placed my order and haven't looked back since. I added panniers, passenger seat/backrest and I changed the exhaust to give a tone that I prefer. It was a great choice for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun! Nimble! Quick! Smiles! I bought this motorcycle as a second bike that I can load in my toy hauler for my trips south in the winter. With it's low center of gravity and steering geometry it is a blast to ride, whether around town or on those mountain road curves. I added the taller handle bars, pulled the rear seat off and put a flat luggage rack in its place. Opened the intake and exhaust and stage one tuned it. It is just right! Only nit I have found is when you ride in the rain, the short front fender allows water off front tire to blow back at you. Just means you get to wash the bike after those rides.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bike performs like an extension of myself I rode this after several Harleys, and the difference is unbelievable. The power, control, balance, and responsiveness feel just like the exotic cars and race cars I have driven. I am more comfortable on the highway, more stable at speed, and in more control through corners than on any other motorcycle. And the looks are awesome - it is a head-turner. I tell everyone considering a new bike that they should not make any decision until they have ridden an Indian. I added the Stage 1 slip-on pipes, windshield, and tan bags. Otherwise the bike is stock. I could not be happier with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My first American Iron I brought the Indian Scout in March this year (2018) and had the dealer add a few extras. Saddlebags, Windscreen, Chrome luggage rack, Stage 1 exhaust and air, plus footplates. The bike handles perfectly for the type of riding I enjoy and has more than enough performance when required. My only gripe would be the lack of a fuel gauge and this model doesn't come in Indian Red.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great ride, but unreliable I bought this bike new last year, and have put 15,000 miles on it. In the last 6,000 miles, I have had three major mechanical failures that resulted in my bike being in the shop for extended periods while awaiting parts. The first time, the bike was dying in the middle of turns or at stops and had to be towed to the dealer. They said it was an oxygen sensor, and kept it about a week. Two weeks later, it did the same thing, only this time it wouldn't even start after it left me stranded on the side of the road. Once again, it was towed to the dealer, who this time said it was a fuel pump, and I was without a vehicle again for about two weeks. Currently, it is once again in the shop, awaiting parts to repair a blown main cover gasket and clutch cover gasket that caused it to start losing about 1/2 quart of oil every 100 miles or so. I bought the bike because I needed a reliable bike to get to work in the next county every day, and I have had to call in three times due to bike failure. In addition, I am the only Indian rider in my chapter of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association. It is quite embarrassing that I have to keep missing our rides, meetings, and major fund raiser because my brand new Indian is in the shop... again. The Harley riders are quite amused, I'm not.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sweet bike for the price - Love the Indian Style I've been on this bike for less than 4 months. It is stock with Indian bags passenger seat and pegs along with aftermarket pipes. The comparable Victory (another Polaris brand) was a few grand more completely stock, and a new HD with the same features was out of my price range. This bike looks awesome and it is nimble / small enough to throw into the corners and really have FUN on. I'm a smallish guy (5'6") and this bike fits me really well. Even if money were no object and I wanted a fun cruiser to tool around town and maybe take some day trips I think I'd still get this bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth ride/great look I purchased this bike because I always wanted one as a kid. I was surprised by the smoothness of the ride, the stability of the bike and it's overall appearance. I added the mini hangers to fit my reach and the pan seat for bobber look and distance comfort. I love sport/cruiser styles and this one fit the bill. "did I mention smooth ride" lol... It has enough power for the ride experience I desire; and then some! This is the 69 inch/ 100hp. I say; if this is the bike you are looking at spend the little extra for the upgrade from 60 inch; it is well worth it. I test rode both 60 and 69 and the difference is proof of which way to go. Satisfied! And the 45' Indian Red is stunning. A beautiful bike all around! It also has enough options available to personalize just the way you feel about riding.

2019 Indian Scout Bobber Thunder Black is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 181.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing, fun bike with attitude! I own the smoke white ABS version and absolutely love it. I came from a Yamaha FZ6 after wanting something with a little more power and more of a cruiser style (ability to have some storage), yet still fun to ride and the Bobber met all the requirements. I find the bike has more than enough torque and stopping power for city driving, where a liquid cooled engine is a must, and ample power for freeway cruising and passing. Admittedly, the seat is a bit hard and the stock suspension is stiff, so I swapped the seat for a mustang seat and the shocks for 12" standard progressive 444's and now I feel like I could ride this thing forever. It raised the seat height about 2 inches but I honestly prefer to feel like I'm sitting "on" the bike rather than "in". I think at some point I may swap the handle bars for mini apes for a more relaxed riding position but I couldn't be happier with this bike. The Bobber had my dream look, and now with the comfort upgrades, it now has my dream ride. Worth every penny. Only thing I wish it still had is a built in steering column lock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best bike I have ever ridden smooth fast! I bought this bike a month ago very impressed from the sheer power of the 100 hp motor to the smooth handling design by Indian the bike is by far a mean head turning monster all I can say is Indian nailed it on this one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The experiance I was looking for Long story, many bikes, trying to find "the one." The Bobber is as close as it gets to what was in my mind. Great bike. Power, light weight, the performance you want for a smile. Fits my style of riding, i.e. - not looking for a touring bike. Short 50 miles jaunts, so this would work. All bikes need a "visceral" component. You need to want to look at it, on or off the bike. Yes, for me, this works. To me it is one of the best looking bikes out there. A home run. Indian nailed it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Yikes! Took a demo ride and wow! What a nice bike.... for someone with a 26" inseam. I am 6'1" with a 34" inseam and the seating position feels goofy. When I lean forward to grab the bars and get my feet on the pegs, my long legs are almost hitting my arms. The engine is great along with everything else.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great power I took This on a test ride. It had Great-Power great responsiveness, It handled the highway with good pick up and passing ability just like a larger bike.I didn't care for the Bobber handlebars with the forward controls. A person was bent too far forward. But with longer Mini apes this would be a great ride. A person would also have to add a windshield to offset the Also would fit someone that was shorter. I had a lady that was 5' 3 mount the bike and she could stand flat footed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet Little Bobber I hadn't planned on test riding the Bobber, but I was last in line for a group test ride, and got last chioce. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the short ride. Handling was flickable, power was strong, nice sound, actually very comfortable. I did not expect this of a Bobber. I'be never been interested in a Bobber, now this one has got me seriously interested. Would make a fun around town bike, easy to handle, and a fun commuter for work. I may have to get one now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks amazing! I have had this for a week. I can’t imagine myself on anything else. It is so maneuverable, has great power, and looks great. I’m very happy with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Would love it around town Demo ride. Combined highway, country, street. I’m not a fan of no windshield on highway too much wind for me. Bit of a hard thump on some bumps. Great looking bike. I think I would love it in a city setting or short country drives on winding roads. Not a big fan of the forward foot controls or minimalist speedo/tach and would like self cancelling signals. Would recommend to someone looking for a town and country ride but not for highway

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never Thought I'd Have So Much Fun Saw the Indian reps at the National Round-Up motorcycle rally in Gulfport, MS last week. They had a couple Scout bikes sitting out there, and I somehow got talked in to a test ride. I've been riding Honda Gold Wings since I was 19 and I'm now almost 50. So the thought of getting on the Indian Scout wasn't exactly thrilling. I thought it would for sure be pretty uncomfortable, especially since I've been on a touring bike for so long. And I just rode 750 miles on my 1990 Gold Wing to get to the rally. The odometer turned over 252,100 miles when I got to Gulfport. Nonetheless, I was up for a new adventure. I grabbed my brother-in-law, Tony, to go with me, and we fired the Scouts up and off we went. It immediately fit and felt like it would be little effort for me to get comfortable on this machine. Next thing I knew, I was on Highway 53 rolling with it. And it felt good! The bike shifted smoothly and had plenty of meat in all 6 gears. It could handle the road like nobody's business. Before I knew it, Tony and I were drifting into the riding zone, and I almost forgot that I didn't own the bike and had to get it back. We pulled in to the demo lot and nothing but a big cheezy smile was on my face. And I even got my did to sit on one- He's 82! So I'd feel confident recommending this bike to anyone! But don't take my word for it. Go experience it for yourself.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for tall riders Love the styling minus the mufflers. Needs offset pegs that can be switched to opposite sides to gain much needed leg room. Not really a forward controls bike, more like a midforward. Engine was smooth with the right amount of torque. Brake controls could be somewhat more responsive. Handles well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bike if your going to hit a deer! Was really impressed with the way it handled. I always felt in control of it. Turning in small areas was the big one for me. My daughter made me do it in the test ride and it was so easy. I have rode bikes from Yamahas to motorgussi, back in the day, for past 40 years. I was riding HD and looking at a new one, but always felt heavy, laugh, at 75 and 120# it is easy to feel that way. A friend told me to try an Indian. That test ride did it. Love that bike. I had it one week and was riding home and hit 160# deer after dark, no more nite riding for me. My son in law said I wobbled a few times, hoped I would stay up, but it wasn’t to be. When I went down the bike ,was so easy to go down with, Heath said it was like slow motion. It felt that way too! Gave me time to think. I have fell over once in new gravel and the bike slapped me up. When I heard motor roaring free, I left go and rolled about15 times, bike scooted ahead of me into ditch. I honestly believed the way this bike handles I came out with a dislocated shoulder and that’s it. If you guys want a bike for your wife, look INDIAN BOBBER!! When I went to look, I loved looks and how it handled. The control this bike has is beyond belief. When I turn 80, I’m going to buy a new one, The bike was totaled, so it got replaced. I put on Trask slip on muffler that sound really good, make young guys smile! Love bobber for all right reason! My daughter bought one too, custom painted navy, it’s beautiful!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Instant Thrills! Traded my 17 Scout for my Thunder Black Bobber. Low center of gravity makes it great for handling in any condition. So much fun and instant response as you rip through the gears, and when you come to a stop light, just look around you as people stare and give you the thumbs up. Only downside is short suspension travel which you will feel in the seat, but on a bike that is this much fun for the money...who cares! Get some!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Long Reach LOVED this bike! Engine power was very smooth and predictable, gears changed very crisp, excellent clutch too! I didn't like how far forward the handlebars were, and I would have liked an analog RPM gauge. Cruise control needs to start becoming standard, especially if using throttle by wire. I also wish there was a Ivory Cream/Vintage Green version of the bobber, or perhaps some other vintage/faded color schemes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my Bobber Bought the 2018 bobber in Indian Red in September. I have about 1000 miles on it, so I think I have enough experience to give a thorough review. The bikes handles amazing, the power is everything you would need. Off the line this bike gets some. The only small things I will be upgrading before long are the Seat, which is uncomfortable after about 20 mi. And the mufflers which I think make the bike too quiet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from One good, several bad I rode two of your bobbers: Great progressive power but sounded like I was riding a commercial grade sewing machine, all valve train noise, no exhaust character. Aesthetically, the entire Indian line looks tired, forced, average quality and cobbled together. You scrapped Victory for this? The Victory bagger was a brilliant reimagining of the full size bagger with top drawer quality execution. Good luck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best of the Indian lineup! My father in law has a scout and I have been lucky enough to try it for myself along with some demo rides during Daytona bike week. The bobber is my style for sure with the blacked out panels, cut fender, LED headlight and bar end mirrors. It’s surprisingly quick with lots of torque and incredibly comfortable. Had I not just bought 2 new bikes recently I would be adding the bobber to the garage today!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loved it! I rode this bike at a demo at the local motorcycle shop. I loved riding it! I’m a too small to sit back in the seat and still be able to read the pedals and handlebars. I asked about the seat options for the bobber and was dismayed that the stock seat is the only seat available for the motorcycle. I would be willing to purchase this bike if it had more seat options!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So good! I did an Indian demo day at my local motorcycle dealer and tried the Scout Bobber. The ride was awesome, the bike has really smooth power deliver without being slow. The ride position was very comfortable, the seat was a little hard for my taste. Overall the bike just made me feel bad and was really fun to ride. This is coming from a sport bike owner as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Like looks of all new indians, Polaris doing a nice job. I test rode scout and scout bobber, nice bikes but foot controls need forward option. I think anyone over 5' 10 it's probably a bit small and uncomfortable. Definitely need pipes. Can't say I would recommend someone to buy over a less expensive Harley, but I would recommend one to consider.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome motorcycle From the sweet look to the awesome horsepower, this bike is amazing I love it. This thing will get you down the road and quick if you want. It sounds pretty darn good with and exhaust. My only complaint is the seat. Other than that Indian did an amazing job on this bike. I love the motor design and the blacked out look best bike I have ever owned!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well-rounded machine I rode the bobber today. The 6 speed gearbox was smooth shifting and the suspension was better than my 48. It is not a big enough difference to pull me away from my 48 that I have customized, however, someone comparing the 2 machines side by side would likely chose the bobber. I did draw the pegs around the turns, but do the same on my 48.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Cafe Feel I’m a sport bike rider and I wanted to try out a cruiser bike. The scout bobber was a refined spartan. It doesn’t have much of the electronics as the other cruiser such as a radio, etc, but that’s good if you’re looking for a more purist feel. The bobber is easy to maneuver and the ride is plush and light. I enjoyed the experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the chopped look! This is a great bike for cruising. Usable torque that doesn’t require you to break the law to enjoy it opposed to the sport bike I’m coming from. Love the styling of this bike and a like of cool mods you can do to it. It’s a perfect size bike - not too big but not too small. Hope Indian will continue to keep the bobber line around.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall a good package Just as expected on a prior ride with a normal Scout, I feel the Scout brakes are under powered and require a huge effort to apply (front), compared to my Ducati’s. Power was good, handling was good. All around a good bike! Only two knocks are the brakes and lack of “technology” for a 2018 bike (cruise, display info, fuel info etc...)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super fun and powerful ride Test rode this today, and its very different than my two bikes - and not in a bad way. It was fun to see how it handled. Super powerful off of the line. Things I loved: - power (low and higher end) - mirrors (were on the ends of the handlebards and were really accurate when I got them pointed in the right spot) - Aesthetic - its absolutely gorgeous Things I didn't love as much: - 1st to neutral or downshifting - it would go into neutral when I didn't want to, and when I was at a full stop it was difficult getting it from 1st to neutral just wasn't happening. - shocks were too stiff. I felt every bump in the road. was a bit jarring - something that I would adjust is to move the pegs back closer to me, as well as the handlebars Was super fun to try. Still leaning towards the Bonneville, but loved this as another option once I can talk to someone a bit more about modifcations that would make it a smoother ride on the country roads that I ride on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best looking bike you can buy!!!! I bought this bike in July, I been looking at this bike for well over a year now finally pulled the trigger and absolutely thrilled, has tons of power. I get tons of compliments. I’m not into to big bikes so this is perfect for me. I even got pulled over by a police officer and all he talked about was how gorgeous my bike is...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2020 Scout Bobber What an awesome bike. I was surprised how the comfortable the bike felt even though it looks large (I'm 5' 6"). Lots of power and smooth all around. Shifting was easy with the gear indicator. Controls were a little uncomfortable due to the far front positioning. Nothing that a reducer won't take care of. Overall...great bike.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super fun ride Rode bobber on demo day. I own a Scout Sixty, and the additional power was great. Also enjoyed the change in riding position, but would not suit short touring like I do. Noticed a Lot of vibration from stock grips, and would change stock seat. Heats up quick on stops and starts. Overall I really enjoyed it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun to ride. Great transition from sport bikes. I had the pleasure of participating in a demo day and my first ride was on a bronze Bobber. The handling and engine were quite good and the stage 1 kit made it even better. The seat was a bit uncomfortable but that’s an easy fix. The riding position is more aggressive but that means more pressure on your hands. The standard scout bars or mini apes would make it better. The clutch or transmission were a little out of sorts though. I had a hard time getting it into neutral and at one point tried do downshift from 2 to 1 leading into a slow turn. The gear didn’t take and I ended up stalling it. it may have just needed adjustment because no one else on the Bobber had that problem. This is a great transition bike for those of us used to sport bikes and looking to get into cruisers. The 6 speed is pretty smooth and the high revs provide a very familiar ride. It doesn’t lack power at any speed and feels very nimble. I had a blast today and am now weighing the Scout Bobber against the Chief Dark Horse.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Chief Vintage On January 20, 2013, I first laid eyes on Indian Motorcycle ‘s Indian Chief Vintage model at the New York Motorcycle Exhibition. I fell in love with the Willow Green and Cream paint, the tan leather fringe seat and saddlebags, and the acre of chrome. Today, thanks to Brookfield Indian’s Demo Days , I finally got a chance to ride one! What fun! My first ride on a bike different from my own in 18 years! Our group ride (16 riders) went around beautiful Candlewood Lake in Danbury and we got up to highway cruising speed on the way back. The big V-twin engine just kept sending good vibrations through the (very comfortable!) seat and handlebars the whole time. Scariest moment? Finding the brake pedal before we got to the first stop light!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bike, but ridiculously high parts prices! Bought my Vintage 3 years ago; have loved it deeply, but have grown to just as deeply resent getting "robbed" every time I need a part. Check out the cost of the rubber grommet upon which the windshield rests, or the cost of replacing a cracked glass lens on one of the "passing" lamps. You will not believe it. Indian's answer to my constructive criticism of the high parts prices was "We are not responsible for road damage" (Duh!), and "Our parts are priced accordingly for a premium product". I also have a 2017 KTM Super Duke GT and a 2014 BMW R1200RT--both "premium" motorcycles-- and even BMW can't match Indian's price gouging for parts. The experience of buying parts and accessories has been so unpleasant that it is slowing souring me on what was once the "love of my life" (apologies to my wife!).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun to ride and own I've always wanted an Indian motorcycle but changes in ownership throughout the year made taking the plunge too risky. I was elated yet cautious when Polaris bought the name. Polaris had the money, marketing and abilities to make Indian a success, however, I was interested in how much of "Americana" could get lost. After a few years the timing was right and I bought a 2016 Vintage. I love it! The parent company has done a great job and my wife and I are already looking for what comes next. She is looking for an Indian too. Will the bomber come back??

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Iconic Looks With Modern Features I first saw the new Indian Chief Vintage in a local business parking lot. After talking to the owner of the Indian motorcycle about the features, and power and sound of the new Thunder Stroke 111 engine, I was convinced that this was the motorcycle that would get me to switch from the "other" American motorcycle. I bought my 2016 Indian Vintage 2 weeks later. I am in love with this Indian motorcycle. The ride, comfort, power and iconic look is a home run for Indian Motorcycle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE MY 2016 VINTAGE! I bought this approximately a month ago after always wanting a Harley Davidson. I bought a HD Heritage Classic last October and decided to compare the Chief Vintage specs online. WOW, the Vintage blows the Heritage Softtail away!! I decided to take a test ride at the Indian dealership in Pensacola, FL and it was like comparing a Cadillac to a Chevy (NO COMPARISON). LOVE MY VINTAGE!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Ride! I bought the Chief Vintage 2 months ago and have now put 1300 miles on the bike. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I love everything about the bike. It is such a stunning looking bike that keeps draws lots of attention and compliments from everyone that sees it. It is such a great ride. The Indian engineers have done an excellent job. Everything about the design is superb. It handles really nicely at low speeds and has excellent balance. The engine and gearing is just right. I'm a mechanical design engineer and really appreciate the craftsmanship and quality of the components used. It's also excellent the way the bike comes equipped from the factory. I am very proud to ride my Indian Chief Vintage and wouldn't trade it for any bike made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from After The First Summer With My Chief Vintage I've had my Indian now for about six months and LOVE it! No regrets at all. It was a big decision for me to buy but I'm glad I did. It was a larger bike in terms of horsepower and weight than I was used to (trading up from a Triumph America) and I was a bit apprehensive at first. But this has not been an issue. I got used to it quickly and actually I feel more secure riding on the highway. The only customization I did was heated grips and saddle, which living in Ohio was a good call. I rode the bike into early December. Also, I bought the India bluetooth speakers, which has been my only disappointment--the bluetooth cuts out regularly and has to be reset (which isn't easy when you're riding.) I love riding my Indian, and do so everyday to work--about 30 miles each way. It seems like every other bike on the road is a HD and I wanted something unique. This is it. It gets looks and comments pretty much everywhere I go. If you're considering an Indian, take the plunge--you won't be disappoitned. Finally, my dealer (American Heritage) was outstanding throughout the initial purchase and 500 mile service. They helped me find one of the few remaining willow and cream color schemes, and went to Detroit to pick it up at no extra cost. They've consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty. I love these guys!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Too much fun to ride! Bought my new Indian in late August. Before putting her away for the winter (I was able to ride until December) I put over 2200 miles on her and I have been caught in the rain more on this bike then any other bike I have owned. I have to say that this bike handles great on wet or dry roads. I waited three years before making my decision on buying this bike, I took a test ride a year before and almost bought one then but I am glad that I waited because I was not sure which color I wanted. No regrets in color or bike. Too much fun to ride.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great bike, great performance, terrible valve noi The bike is awesome but the valve noise is so clacketty others can hear it riding with me and turns them off from Indian motorcycles. I can't rave about it with how noisy it is. I own two...a 2014 chieftain and a 2015 vintage. The chieftain sounds like is going to blow apart it's so noisy after it warms up. The chieftain now has 35,000 miles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chief Dragging His Canoe I purchased my 2016 Indian Chief Vintage on September 1, 2016. It is a beautiful bike with fantastic features and at a very reasonable price. I was a die hard Harley Davidson owner, I rode a 2003 Harley Davidson "Night Train". But once I rode on an Indian and felt that comfort of the ride, the luxury of ride, well there was just no going back! Indian packs a lot of engineering into this bike, it is a large bike, but handles very well, it will carve a tight corner, the 111 cubic inch Thunder Stroke engine has power to spare. The weight of the bike feels low and gives you confidence when cornering. In the four months I have been riding this Indian I can find no fault with the bike. And I have to compliment and brag on the wonderful people at Crockett Motorsports for the excellent service, the no pressure sales, the camaraderie of the staff, they make you feel at home like a loving family. I love my Indian and will pass it down through my family.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from classic indian styling! smooth ride ! made in usa I am happy I traded my street glide for the chief. It has a lot smoother ride , and I love the styling. it handles very nice for a 800lb bike . My passengers say it is very nice too. it has good low end power , and the trans. shifts great. There are a couple things I think you should improve on.... #1 , The engine has a ticking sound at lower speeds , The dealer said it was normal, but it is annoying . it sounds like a lifter, or wrist pin to me . #2 , Too much heat from the rear cyl., The seat should be insulated underneath . any riding above 85 deg. is tough . #3 , The cruise is very nice , but , the buttons are too far to reach with my right thumb. it is awkward. You could use more variety on the accessories, :IE: only one style back rest .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smooth, powerful head turner Bought new in 2015. Awesome ride. (I also have a street glide that I ride for comparison). Much smoother ride and more powerful than my touring bike. Not quite as quick on the high end, but a much more even power curve in acceleration or deceleration. Passengers rave about comfort and room back there. Nice maneuverability at any speeds over 10 mph, but a bit cumbersome and tippy at very low speeds. Brakes are as advertised- superb.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bike with some flaws. Overall a great bike. But the seats are terribly uncomfortable and the accessories are incredibly overpriced -- but good quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Joined The Tribe This was my first INDIAN and the ride home let me know that I made the right choice. It was smooth shifting and it handled just right. Every time I stopped strangers would ask if I minded to have them take a photo of it and then it was story time with the oldtimers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from '16 Vintage: The Best Bike I've Ever Owned I traded a '12 Road Glide Ultra for the Chief Vintage and have never looked back. Added the Stage 1 Fishtails, performance cams, air filter, accessory bags and an "appropriate" amount of beautiful chrome and I just love riding this bike.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Can't stay off this bike! I LOVE to ride it. I bought this bike three and a half years ago. I have 35,000 miles on it. All my other bikes I averaged around 6,000 to 7,000 miles a year , but the Indian , I have been riding 10,000 miles or more each year. It's a GREAT ride!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice motorcycle I went to the Indian demo ride event hoping to ride the new ftr but it was only available as a display because it hasn't officially been released yet so I thought I would like to try the scout but after sitting on a couple decided at 6ft 4 inches tall weighing around 290 I was just built to big to fit the scout so the chief dark horse caught my eye I sat on it perfect fit then I was informed the vintage was the same bike but had a windshield and bags so I rode it the bike handled well had good power and looked fantastic if I just had to find something to complain I'd say the absence of a heel shifter as I have ridden similar bikes in the past which heel toe was a standard feature and not having it on the big Indian naturally I tried to use it a couple times and it wasn't there

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loving it! Owned a Kaw in the mid 80's and after a 30 year no ride period, I bought a Scout in 8/18 and after 2100 miles I knew I had to go bigger and while at the dealer I seen this baby. After negotiating with "the boss" we agreed on trading the Scout if I kept the same color combo or black and tan. The Vintage is everything we wanted and expected. It's a comfortable ride, the throaty distant rumble of the pipes is like music, it has everything we needed shy of the backrest for us both and the weight makes encountering winds or large vehicles a non-issue now. Keyless is something I really wish hadn't been added as I like the key in the ignition but that is the only thing I would call a minor negative if it's a negative at all. I've received a lot of compliments and the group I ride with use the words "awesome" and beautiful" when they first seen it. I think there's a few HD riders considering "upgrades" as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best we have ever owned!! We bought a 2015 Vintage in July 2015. We have owned Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda, and have ridden Harleys regularly for 40 years. The Indian is in a class by itself. We tell everyone " it's like riding the Cadillac of motorcyles." The ride is so smooth you feel like you and the bike are part of the road. The Vintage is a larger bike but it handles as well if not better the the smaller classes. My husband and I are now planning our retirement around riding this bike around the country.

Indian Chief Dark Horse
Starting at $21,999 CA MSRP
2019 Indian Chief Dark Horse Thunder Black Smoke is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 280.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Review of my 2016 Chief Dark Horse, Armageddon I purchased my Dark Horse this year in late June and already have more than 2,000 miles on it. Over all I do recommend this motorcycle. I personally do a lot of riding. The road King that I traded in had 65k+ miles, I loved it. This bike has superior handling and power. The matted black is really an eye catcher, and I am constantly complemented on it EVERY TIME I take it out. As things stand I would recommend an Indian over anything else for anyone that does a lot of riding and traveling. Did over 300 miles miles yesterday, and the bike ate up the miles and despite being completely "stock " I was comfortable the whole time. Now for what I don't like. I just wished it came with the blacked out pipes and better sound. Just like Harley if you want better sound and performance, which both companies already KNOW WE DO!!! You are going to have to pay for it yourself. Wish someone would just MAKE THE BIKE THE WAY THEY ALREADY KNOW WE WANT IT!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible from engine to frame! As a life long Harley Davidson owner and former dealer, I had a bias toward that brand. However, all it took was one test ride on an Indian to see that the Chief family was a superior machine in every aspect. The sound, the ride, the maneuverability, the engineering, EVERYTHING!! Looks like for the second half of my life, I will be an Indian man!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ride I've had my bike for a few months now. It was my Christmas present to myself. It also was an increase in power from my previous bike. On the test drive, I really liked how it handled. CG is nice and low so it balances very nicely in all conditions. Still waiting (over a month) on the manufacturer to get back to me in regards to damage to the finish when I purchased it. I hope it's not a nightmare to get fixed because since then, I have found another damaged location and have yet to bring it to the attention of the dealer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love. This. Bike. Narrowed my search down to this bike vs. HD Fat Boy Lo. I couldn't be happier with my choice. She gets so much attention wherever I go, it is amazing to watch how heads turn and passers by stop to admire and take in the beauty of this bike. The ride is smooth and comfortable and the performance exceeds any expectations I had. My upgrades included mini-apes, blacked out exhaust and six shooter exhaust tips. I do wish I would have added saddlebags and upgraded the seat when I ordered, but I will add those over time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my new dark horse Love my new bike. Loved the overall cost. Only downfall was accessory prices. Bags, back seat, sissy bar, sissy bar back pad, passenger floorboards, highway bars front and rear. Already spent over 3k and haven't got to the engine yet. Cams, pipes, filter etc. it gets real expensive, real quick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Added 2nd Indian to my stable!! Purchased my 2nd Indian motorcycle (2016 Darkhorse) about a year and a half after my first. (2015 Chieftain) Both bikes are excellent. My wife and I use the Chieftain for two up riding and touring primarily. We added the tour pack, heated seats, etc... I use the new Darkhorse when I ride solo. Totally different feel and look. Love the lighter weight and different rake. Added the ape handlebars, performance air filter and cams. The Darkhorse just roars and rips across the miles. Love everything about this bike!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Retro Modern Crusier Great looking, comfortable with good fit and finish. Handles well for a big bike. The exhaust note (vans and hines) is amazing. The only downside is everyone stops you to ask questions. I liked the attention at first, but it gets old. It is a refined product with a distinct soul. The only options that I am considering are the pathfinder LED headlight, heated grips and seat. The accessories are pricey, but very high quality. If you are in the market for a cruiser, do not hesitate. Amazing bike.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Going back to Harley - horrible experience I spent two years waiting to get this Dark Horse. After two weeks of ownership there is more rust on this bike than my H-D had after a full year of riding. The chrome trim was wrinkled the day I bought it and being warrantied along with the gas tank that hadn’t stripped bolts holding it on at purchase. Went to install the black fuel cap set today and found a rust patch the size of a quarter under the faux gas cap. Stage 1 flash was done at the dealer and now every time the bike is started, it stumbles gasping for air and stalls. There’s rust in about 6 exposed holes on the frame, after a trip to the dealer this week I saw all the new ones on the floor had paint in these holes, mine was bare metal and now fully rusted. The fork tube is also being replaced because it had a 3 inch scratch to bare metal at purchase. By the way this bike was to return to Indian as in 2016 I bought a Dark Horse that poured oil all over my garage the day I got it home. Will never buy another Indian and will surely share this experience. I was so impressed with the price of this bike for what I thought I was getting but I guess you get what you pay for. Now I’ll take a loss on this bike....again!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome look/fantastic ride It took me 3 months after first seeing the bike to pony up the money. I'mean glad I did. It is such a great ride and has power to burn. A little pricey, but I guess I can'tell take the money with me. A real head turner. I get tons of compliments on the bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredibly Happy Hands down best cruiser I have ever ridden. More power and better handling than my previous bikes (most of them Harleys). But the styling along with fit & finish turns this bike into a work of art as well. Always looking forward to my next ride!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Custom Motorcycle at a Budget Price I went to the Indian Dealer to buy a used Harley, until I saw the Dark Horse... Love at first sight. I didn't even test ride it. I had to have it! I have never regretted my decision. It has lowered my blood pressure considerably!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent ride! I'm really thinking about purchasing this motorcycle. I get a lot more motorcycle for the money with Indian than with Harley. Great power, smooth ride on the highway and on the back Hill Country roads. I've been shopping for a motorcycle for the past 3 months. Most dealers are very aggressive. I loved the laid back..."let the bike do the talking" approach from the staff at Mission City Indian Motorcycle. Lots of options to meet my style and performance needs! What else is left to say?
Date published: 2019-05-21
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Ride Ever! I would not own another bike brand. Out of all the motorcycles I have ever got on, my Dark Horse has them all beat. The overall feel of the ride is the greatest, comfort and performance included.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You can't believe the looks I get I've had every brand of bike on the market and nothing compares to the feeling I get on this bike. This is not only my last bike but my new lifestyle. On this bike I have "no reservations".

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Really Wanted to Like It I've been wanting to ride this bike for a few months now. Went to a demo day this past weekend and was pretty excited. However, I couldn't really find a riding position on this bike that I was completely comfortable with. For me, I have really long arms, the swept back bars caused me to have to lean back more than I liked. Maybe some straighter bars would solve that for me. On the highway I felt like I was having to grip the bars too hard to basically hold on since I was leaning back too much. In the twisties I found myself pulling myself upright and I slid my feet all the way back on the boards to feel in control but it still wasn't perfect. I also felt that the bike revved lazily and I never really felt the big motor punch I was hoping for. It was a nice bike but not really for me, which I'm sad about

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Ride I bought my Darkhorse this year following two years of enjoying my Scout military tribute. I was itching for a little more comfort and size. I moved up to the Darkhorse which was customized as a Bomber and man do I love this bike! The third week I owned it I was off from Longmeadow Massachusetts on my Bomber to Syracuse NY to the flat track races to watch the wrecking crew. Top finishes all the way! A great weekend on the most comfortable and powerful motorcycle in the world.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth and Reliable Purchased in April 2015 and only got to put 5,000 miles on it last riding season but, so far, I'm impressed. Very smooth, handles good, looks great. Engine has never missed a beat and the transmission shifts smoothly, brakes are very good. Only cons are that the paint seems to scratch rather easily and I had to upgrade the seat for better long-range comfort. I've added a few options and am planning on a couple more. Really satisfied with this motorcycle.

2019 Indian Springfield Thunder Black is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 267.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bike Bought this bike in June 2016, the most easiest handling 858lb motorcycle I have ever driven, unbelievable corning and acceleration, have already installed stage 1 & stage 2 components, this is definitely the most comfortable road bike you can buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I wanted. Bought in April, coming up on 10k miles. Commute everyday 50+ miles, both freeway and surface streets plus monthly group rides, errands around town, rain or shine. The bike never disappoints in it's handling ,comfort and power. Stock model came just as I wanted for my next bike. Quality is outstanding. Its the bike I've always wanted to have. And it's an Indian!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovin' it! Bought the Springfield 2 days after the Mar 3 intro and have not looked back. Had a Victory Crossroads prior, both are great bikes, but definitely love the Springfield. Told the dealer in 2014 that the Vintage needed a hard bag option. The frame mods they did give it a better "around town" ease of handling, yet very comfortable on the road as well. Glad I joined the Indian family even if we do still have another Crossroads in the garage too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Less is more I love this bike overall better ths any Indian I rode at the demo ride in Denton,TX hosted by Big Tex Indian. This bike has no stero, no GPS or fancy fairing. It has a windscreen and is a stylish cruiser/touring bike. It handled like a dream. It sounded just the way it should and for all it's simplicity it was far and away the best bike I rode. When it came down to it, I thought about the bike I rode in on (1999 Suzuki VL1500 LC Intruder C90). You dont miss what you never had. It has always been about the ride and the adventure. No gadgets just you and your motorcycle... That's why this was such a special ride. Everthing you need and nothing you don't.

I bought the bike the week it was released and have enjoyed every ride on it . the perfect touring bike and just a great all day around the country bike . Made a 4500 mile trip to Canada and back to Louisiana in June 2017. Rain, hail, heat, wind and dust. Not a hitch. Couldn’t ask for a better ride. Our 2nd Springfield by the way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My 2017 Springfield Rocks! I bought my 2017 Springfield in April, 2017. I now have almost 15,000 miles on it. Been riding for 52 years and have owned 100's of motorcycles. I also have a BMW. I LOVE my Indian Springfield. It is by far the best cruiser I have ever owned and is so comfortable to ride on long multi-day rides. It handles, brakes, accelerates better than any other cruiser bikes I have ever had. Thanks Indian (Polaris) for rebooting an American icon the right way!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Springfield armory I traded up my vintage for the Springfield in March and I am here to tell you...best move I ever made. I love this bike! The vintage was nice but this Springfield just brings things to a whole different level. We already have over 6000 miles on her and I don't have any plans to slow down any time soon. If you have a vintage right now all I can say is take the next move up. You won't regret it trust me. Thanks Polaris/Indian. Excellent job,

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Ride, except for the Noise I bought this Mid May and am averaging over 1400 miles per month, any chance I get, but do have to wear ear plugs a lot, due to the Muffled Jack Hammer sound coming, from the lower end, possibly lifters, very irritating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My dream bike. This is my first new bike since my Honda CB125 when I was 16. This is my first American bike. I have had my eye on the Springfield since it debuted. It is everything I have ever wanted in a bike. Massive, powerful engine, incredible low end torque and wicked throttle response. A perfect combination of the classic cruiser style I love and all the high tech anyone could want. I fall more in love with this machine with every mile I ride. I bought a 2017 on clearance and got an amazing deal. I'm in love!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I believe I found my dream bike Took delivery on July 15, almost have 2,000 miles. Had the 500 mile oil change on the rode. great dealer network. I've rode a lot of bikes, this is one fine motorcycle, well engineered and lots of style, while being built in the USA. with all the bikes on the road today, it is better to be noticed than overlooked.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm glad my wife talked me into buying it... In February of 2017 I was looking at a custom Scout, I had the dealership holding it for me after making a deposit. When my wife and I visited the Indian showroom in Manchester, NH we really started looking at the other bikes. I was checking out the Springfield when a petite woman around five foot five threw her leg over the bike and said, "If I could, this would be the one." She walked away and my wife came over and said "hey big fella, think you can handle something like this now?" My rationale for looking at the Scout was that I didn't want a large heavy bike as I hadn't ridden since I was roughly 26 years old -- I started riding again at 50 in June of 2016. My wife told me to look at the Springfield so that we wouldn't repeat another purchase to a larger bike in the next year or so. I traded another American brand for my Springfield and am thrilled after taking the risk. While I think the Scout is a nice bike too, the Springfield is so well balanced you could corner with one hand (if one wants to ride around like that). To date there has not been one instance where I thought I would drop the bike. It has more power than one will ever need and is simply a beautiful versatile bike. Hard saddle bags are great for a gallon of milk or supplies for a trek across New England. The instruments and display leave little doubt for how things are running. I have had some stuff come up - kick stand sensor caused the warning light to stay on for 30 miles once and another sensor came on another time. The minor blips are far overshadowed with an otherwise great product. I'd buy another Indian again without hesitation (and just might if my wife isn't looking)...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nimble, fast, and capable! I've only ridden my Springfield 100km so far and it's still in its break in period, but I'm already impressed. It turns easily, and feels lighter than my old VTX 1800, even though it wwighs about 30 lbs more. It has loads of torque, and I can still only use 1/3 of the throttle. I'm looking forward to discovering the power that comes from the 2200 rpm and up range.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Springfield Thunder Clacker I have a 2016 Indian Springfield it has now started making a lot of engine noise that wasn't there before I hit 3000 miles. Rated 5 out of 5 by from 204-mile lunch run today, Jan. 18, 2018 When people ask me how I like my Indian I respond this way: "I love it, it's comfortable, it's simple and it's FUN!" The odometer turned over 4,000 miles today as I rode out of Borrego Springs, CA, with some fast-moving Harley riders. We'd just had lunch there, having ridden from Palm Desert earlier in the day. These other riders get aggressive with their throttles (some with 110 ci motors) and a big smile comes across my face as I twist my Indian throttle and this beefy 111 ci comes alive with torque and power--so much so that I'm having to keep a close eye on the Harley directly in front of me. No sense running him over! I ride about 20,000 miles per year, and I have four touring bikes. Otherwise I would have already racked up many more miles on this white Springfield last year. Today's lunch run which incorporated a multitude of twisties and elevation changes proved to me that my Indian is not only a touring bike but a sport bike that agressively takes on tight curves in a nimble fashion. I'm very favorably impressed. Oh, on almost every ride, while occasionally stopped, some stranger walks up to me and compliments my Indian. It's an all-around FUN machine!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great riding motorcycle! 12,000 mile one year review and this is a keeper. A joy to cruise, tour and good for its size on the tight sections, too. I have owned goldwings, beemers, hogs, guzzis and Polaris left no stone unturned in designing and building this bike. I am going to run this up to 100,000 miles in the next 6 to 8 years and I know I will enjoy every mile. This bike is fully featured and with the high end finishes and performance, I have just kept it stock. Added a rack and tourpak and I'm good for touring - take off the rack, bags and shield and I have a sporty cruiser that will run well in its class. Speaking of class, the finishes and extras Indian puts on makes this a bike I dont have to troll through the accessory catalog to give it the complete look. My springfield is a winner and a good purchase for the money!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really enjoying the bike Bike needs a better kick stand it seems to disappear under the bike and is hard for me to access. Bike should come with a heel toe shifter. The process to check the oil is too difficult. Takes 2 people you should be able to walk up and check it with the bike on the side stand. I had to add wiring for my handlebar mounted gps. Bike is sluggish in 1st gear you have to really twist the throttle.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Small and under powered Hard to make a real good review in reference to a 20 min ride but was not impressed. Also it did not help that i was at the dealership one week ago and spent 25 min walking around the show room and nobody even said hi. I went outside had a smoke and a phone call came back in for another 30 min and still not one person made contact with me. There were 3 people on the desk and someone sitting out on the floor at a desk. I was not impressed so i left.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Demo days test ride Was really excited about riding this bike during the demo days. I love the styling of the new fairing, you can start to see some of the Victory DNA starting to cross over into Indian. The more modern styling is such an eyecatching feature. Hopefully we see more of the modern aspect of Victory coming into the Indian lineup. The ride was great, bike performed well, but as with the Roadmaster I had tested the day I felt somewhat cramped. The seating position is moved forward a couple of inches and so legroom and comfort isn't the same as what I have on my stock Victory Cross Roads Classic. In order to be comfortable and use the bike for touring the continent I would have to change the seat to an extended reach. Of the 3 bikes I demoed; Roadmaster, Chieftain LTD, and Springfield Dark Horse, this was the second most comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible Experience I have a 2018 Roadmaster and was curious about the experience on the Chieftain. The ride modes are absolutely the most incredible thing that stood out. I started out in touring mode and when I switched to Sport mode was like siting on a whole different bike. The 116 was way more power and speed than I could ever imagine. If you have a need for speed, its there with all the amidities and comfort expected in an Indian dressed bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bike for those that are new to big cruisers. Very nimble bike once you get accustomed to the weight. I've always ridden sport bikes and supermotos so this bagger was a whole different experience for me. Great handling, awesome ride quality, nice quiet rumble with the stock exhaust. The brakes are more than adequate, throttle response is great. However, gear shifting was a little clunky and could take getting use to. Overall this bike is the best bang-for-your buck.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap bike Poor rider position, break pedal should be a pedal rather then a peg. Position of controls too far forward on footboard. Jerky throttle response. Hand controls awkward position, seat too narrow. Overall the feel of the bike was cheap, does not have refined feel like Harley. Stereo weak, not enough power, hard to figure out display

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed Ergos on this bike are cramped ( I’m 6-0). The switchgear feels cheap and not placed intuitively, and the suspension is marginal, at best. Love the engine though, especially with the stage 2 cams. Sorry; I won’t be buying an Indian any time soon.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Seat Sucks Sucks that with all the money I spent that you couldn't put in a seat that had some back support. Just like the Ness Vegas I bought in 2005 - Beautiful bike w/worthless seat that makes my back ache. I will have to eat another $600-700 on another seat and I guarantee it won't be made by Polaris.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bike! Bring on liquid cooling. I demo'd the Chieftain Ltd yesterday and it was a great ride. The engine feels and sound great, the chassis is excellent and the ergos are pretty much spot on. All it needs is liquid cooling as Euro 5 emissions restrictions approach, and to satisfy younger guys like me who grew up on sportbikes and standards and want a cooler running engine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good machine lacked comfort Motor, suspension and handling was awsome. Couldn’t get the windshield adjusted optimally to reduce wind buffeting, needs to be taller. I found the seat to be very uncomfortable and seemed to push me to far forward in the bike. I’m 5 10 but seemed to me it would help to be seated farther back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from sweet ride great changes to the look I took a test drive on one in lake George and was very happy with it. I,m holding out to buy one, to see if they make a tour pack that goes with it, and also if they change it to a 4 valve then a 2. the only thing I did not like is the heads have a cheap look to the finish, but look good in black. I road the 2019 chieftain limited.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I was not expecting a smooth ride I went to the demo ride and right away when I saw the Indian Chieftain I just had to do It and take it for a spin. Getting on the bike I wasn’t expecting to be that well balanced I didn’t struggle and the handle bars are super smooth. I did not feel like I was forcing my body to steer the bike it handle well like a champ.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Demo Ride Bad News for the Chiefsin The e-mail went out from my local BMW dealer ( who will be carrying the Indian line September/19) to test the 2019 Chieftain Limited. I thought , why not see how this machine stacks up against my BMW K1600B. While most demo rides are short and really don’t give you the “ full feel” for the bike the 30 minutes in the saddle gave me some immediate concerns. Engine performance: the Chieftain vibrates miserably at 4000 rpm’s!! I know there are vast differences between a six cylinder and a v-twin but come on this is way too much. Engine heat: the 30 minute produced a lot of it and was reminiscent of my ST1300. I wasn’t a fan of the ergonomics but to be fair to the Chieftain a longer prolonged ride would be needed to properly evaluate the controls. The K 1600 B is safe in my garage and has proven to be the far superior machine.I didn’t investigate price point but if they are close the BMW will give you a far better ride, better technology ,engine performance.and more options.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Impressed I was extremely surprised and impressed not only on the ride but the easy handling of this bike. Chieftain Dark Horse
Starting at $34,499 CA MSRP
2019 Indian Chieftain Dark Horse® is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 248.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from soom Good features I will try the bike out again at Heritage Indian, Rogers, AR. I was very disappointed in the new seat tha comes with the bike. I found it to be very disappointing as to comfort especially on a long trip. I have a 2017 Black Horse Chieftain and I had to chang the seat out for a after market seat made by Ultimate Seats. In the short demo ride at Bikefest Osage Beach, MO I could not give a long enough ride test, The time that I did have riding in the seat I still felt very uncomfortable so I assume it would be ever worse in a long ride. The seat also reminded me of the stock seats on your old Victory line of motorcycles. I will look at the three ride modes in more detail when I attend the Bike, Blues and Bar-B-Q in a couple of weeks. I only roadie with the bike in sport mode and did not care for the throttle response. It was too touchy especially when I encountered rough sections or bumps in the road. Every bump caused me to increase throttle without intending too so it was a bit unsettling. Again I will give it another try in a couple of weeks to try the other two modes. Although I like the new fairing and most other body changes it is not enough for me to want to upgrade at this time. I would also suggest a couple of changes. First a possible seat option to an upgraded touring seat simulator to the Ultimate seat. second, imagine the 2019 red Chieftain with the blackout engine, wheels, front forks and all black out chrome... that would be a awesome look for a red bike....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ride! Went to ride the Cheftain at the demo ride in Harker Heights, Tx. I got to ride the Cheiftain with the 116 pack....let me tell you..wow! That bike was so responsive in either mode, but once in the open road and in sport mode, passing a car at 60 mph in 5th gear felt like 2nd gear starting out! I accelerated so quickly, and it felt very balanced. Thanks for the demo, I will definitely be visiting the dealership again!

I’ve had several electrical problems but it’s a machine and machines have problems. She has been a good bike and has been enjoyable to ride. I just rode her from Virginia to Sturgis, South Dakota and ended up trading my 2018 Chieftain Darkhorse to a 2019 Chieftain Darkhorse!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features! I test fringe this bike today with a 116 big bore slip on stage 1 kit. It had increased speed and acceleration from the base model and was a dream to drive. The ride was smooth, the cornering was natural and fluid, gear shifting was smooth and very forgiving, and it was very easy to find neutral. The touch screen system was also very easy to use, understand, and contained simple functionality when driving.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Even more fun than it looks. I was able to demo ride one of these at Biketoberfest. Impressed with how easy it was to ride a bike this big. Exceptional power from the 111 stroker, intake, and exhaust upgrades. Did notice a lot of wind turbulence with full face helmet but I am a tall guy. I would highly recommend checking this Indian out if you are in the market for a cruiser. The new colors are amazing in person.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chieftain Dark Horse 116 big bore kit The test ride was amazing! That 116 big bore kit had so much power! The different modes of riding were really cool too! The only thing I think they should do when putting the riders together is maybe have the less experienced ones in the back. Some of those guys clearly had not rode in a group before and had no idea what a staggered formation was. Some of them were all over the place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Polaris does it again I have put on over 100,000 miles on four different victory motorcycles sense 2003. I was devastated when I heard that Polaris was no longer going to manufacture the victory motorcycle. After my test drive on a new Indian, my faith has been restored. I am anxiously anticipating the purchase of my new Springfield dark horse. Keep up the good work Polaris, “love you long time” :0

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Demo Success at Four Corners Rally Ergonomically it was a great fit for my 5’9” frame, lots of touchdown on the pavement. Instructed about the 3 modes - Tour, Standard and Sport - I chose the Sport mode which had tight throttle response ( a little too much for my 1st Demo ride). We rode about 10 miles out of Sky Ute Casino and the Demo guide stopped and asked what I thought. I explained the “jumpiness” in the throttle response and he suggested I switch to Standard mode, and that’s all it took. We glided through the turns and hills like a hot knife through butter. So smooth, very comfortable in turns with downshifting. I picked up speed quickly and placed my hand in front of my face to check windshield placement, it was perfect. Wind hit top of my helmet with no buffeting. Sadly, the second half of the ride brought us back to the casino when I was really starting to have fun with this bike. Thanks for the demo trial. Highly recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great power very comfortable I took a test ride yesterday and I was very impressed with the power styling handling etc it had a nice seat great sound, engine pipes.. I did not turn on the stereo, Ide rather hear the bike.. and fantastic pick up, smooth breaks, the only thing I could find that may have needed improvement was the wind buffeting around the head, I couldn't seem to find the right position.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smooth Ride Took a demo ride to check out the bike since looking to buy a newer bike in near future. The Indian has plenty of power. Easy to operate controls and a great look. I am 6'4 and 300Lbs so the fairing came back just a little too far for me. The mid rise bars did give the bike more of an open feel. Seat and riding position were comfortable and steering was responsive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved the power Loved the power, the riding position was very good. The only thing I would change would be the windshield, I would put a flip shield on it and waybe 1" taller but thats just for my size. It had the up graded stereo that if I had them put it on the bike ,I would have them take it right off, It was bad . My factory stereo on my cross country sounds way better

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stand out from the crowd Was looking for a V-Twin bagger that was comfortable, had up to date electronics like GPS and Bluetooth and stood out from all the other baggers. I got everything I wanted and more in my Chieftain Dark Horse. I loved the bike from day one and would recommend it in a heartbeat to anyone looking at the competition in this type of motorcycle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from THE BEAST!! Demo days test rider 8-30-19. The one I rode was the 116 ci loaded black beast,All the performance upgrades, Motor, Cams, Pipes, Etc. Cushy seat, Nice balance to weight ratio, Big time power, Shifting kind of hard and clunky to me, Quite a bit of vibration through the dash and handlebars. Still a fun bike and glad I tried it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really smooth power I’ve been hearing a lot about Indian motorcycles from one of my Brothers. So I decided to take a ride at the local demo day, even though I didn’t expect much. To my surprise The bike handled great, the power was smooth and plentiful and the ride was almost plush, soaking up the pumps perfectly. I have to say Indian surprised.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great bike loved the bike, very comfortble. The movable windshield is a great feature. The sound system was great too. My only negative was my legs were not stretched out enough to my liking while riding. I felt like I was on top of the bike more than "in" it if that makes any sense. Otherwise great bike that I'm considering buying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 116 white Have been wanting to ride the 116. Rode it and loved it. Nice response all around. Enjoyed sitting low in the seat as it made me feel part of it, not just on it. My only dislike is that I felt I was sitting to close to the handle bars. Didn't like that at all. Perhaps there is a option for the seat to sit further back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing power Amazing power with the 116ci. Loved the bike only two things I would say to help for us bigger guys 6'6" 287lbs. The seat being a touring seat, extended reach. An windshield being a little taller was catching lots of air above it with it fully up. I would recommend the bike to anyone thinking of the street glide special

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid as a Rock! I got a chance to demo this bike this week and wow! What an amazing experience. This baby had the 116 big bore upgrade, and you can really feel it. I had a concern with the 4" riser handle bars, but in the end, it was a perfect fit. The controls were easy to access and operate and the radio had decent sound as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 116 Kit is a WOW I own a 14 Chieftain. This new bike with the 116 kit was awesome! The power upgrade was more than I thought it would be. Great bike, high rise handle bars would take some getting used to and the touch screen SAT/NAV is pretty nice too. I still prefer the classic styling of mine but this was a great bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great motorcycle I was surprised how well it handled , I own a 2011 victory cross roads tour and I absolutely love it. the cheiftan dark horse handled as good if not better then my cross roads with more power and fetures. I may think about getting pricing from rolling fast, but I will never part with my cross roads

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome power I just attended the Indian motorcycle Demo ride in my area and chose the Chieftain Dark Horse. I was amazed by the power and throttle response especially in Sport mode.I took the bike through some twisty's and the handling was great. Rated 5 out of 5 by from The new look is great on the 2019. Fairing I test road the 2019 Chieftain Dark Horse 116 was a nice ride. Very quick response from the throttle and nice and smooth ride. Great features such as automatic lock for saddle bags, radio, and screen was easy to see and operate. The look is the best part really like the new look of the fairing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a great bike!!! Was at the demo ride today. I was not really considering an Indian bike. But I didn’t even get out of the parking lot on our short little tour I knew this ride might be in my future. I’m going to have to do some more research now but this experience changed my perspective an Indian bikes 180°

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice ride, 116 upgrade The test ride was wonderful, I thought the ride was smooth, controlled, and very powerful as well. The bike sat well, moved under me as if I had been riding it for years. I thought the throttle response was fine, a little different than my coble throttle, but the fly by wire was just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like riding a recliner down the road I rode the 111 and the 116 and I dont have any complaints about either bike. The ride was super smooth, power delivery was amazing especially in sport mode, the radio was outstanding with a full face helmet and the volume at 3, and it's easy to learn the features of the bike fairly quick.

2019 Indian Roadmaster Thunder Black is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 1063.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from American Quality, high tech.and classic styling I owned a GL1800 Honda Goldwing. Traded it in to become an American Motorcycle owner. The Quality of my 2017 Roadmaster is Excellent, the 111 cu in engine is smooth and powerful, the gearbox in smoother than my Goldwing transmission was, a whole different feel and sound, and I love it, because you feel like you are participating in driving not just going along for the ride. The updated high tech. features with the old Indian look is spot on. Started adding other quality items, like my Buffalo Head Nickel in the photo.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 50/50 on the Indian Roadmaster My wife and I were able to test ride the Roadmaster over the weekend. A lot of things were very impressive about the bike but it also had some drawbacks. The bike over all does have awesome power and is a very smooth riding bike. You can feel the quality of the motorcycle. Some draw backs for us were, the seating is very close together, not much room between the driver and passenger, not a lot of driver leg room, stock windshield must be all the way up or I received a lot of head buffering and the side storage bags could be bigger to accommodate more storage for traveling. We were able to compare the New Indian Roadmaster with the Victory Cross Country Tour and the Victory Cross Country Tour does offer a lot more leg room, no head buffering from the windshield and more side storage. If you could combine the horsepower and smooth ride from the Indian with the leg room comfort and storage of the Victory you would have one VERY nice bike. I am not a tall guy, only 5' 11". My wife is only 4' 10" tall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2016 Indian Roadmaster - Incredible Ride I purchased my Indian Roadmaster at the end of May and it is now the end of July and with 7,000 miles on this bike I can honestly say this ride is incredible. The workmanship on this bike is noticeable and it is very well balanced. I have added true dual exhaust, high flow air filter, additional brake lights, Clearwater driving lights (on lower forks), cup holder and Garmin GPS. I look forward every day to my next ride.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good, just beat the heat I purchased my Roadmaster a couple of days ago and just completed my 500 mile breakin ride. Flawless. Handleing and comfort were as I expected, coming of a Chieftain. Very smooth, lots of extras. First thing I did was remove the CAT as this is the main cause of the heat everyone complains about. Buy a head pipe and new slip-on's, but the CAT has to go. As I said, I put 60K on a 14 Chieftain. I learned the hard way. Once you do this you will love, love, love the bike. Everything else is just spot on. Can't wait to get out and get some real riding in.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good features needs modern styling I bought this in dec. I have 8800 miles on it. Big bore kit, ext reach seat, mid rise bars, saddle bag audio, intake, indian pipes, tank pouch, 19 inch wheels and fron fender, rear lowering spring, pinnacle boards front and rear, pinnacle mirrors and pinnacle tow peg, flared windshield, passenger arm rests and 2019 dark horse tank badges. I'm sure I'm missing something. As you can see I buy accessories. Terribly frustrated I cannot have a correct riding position (ext reach seat) and have a backrest for me. Why not have an engineer design one to work with the ext reach seat? Great bike. It has however been in the shop a few times already in the 4 months I've been able to ride.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2017 RM is an exceptional bike I just picked up the 2017 Roadmaster and I am amazed by the handling and comfort. The TS111 is a standout engine - best in class V-twin (I recommend riding the new HD107 and then an Indian with TS111). The Ride Command infotainment has no peer. A ton of information, readily accessible and customizable display to rider preference. Audio is amazing, even with helmet on at highway speeds. Cargo capacity, ability to transform into a chieftain - simple trunk and fairing removal gets the basic look, but you still have many little extras like LED lights, passenger floorboards, heated grips/seat, etc.- the positives go on and on....best to just go try it out. Falcone Powersports in Indianapolis, IN is top-notch sales and service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my Roadmaster!! I've been on bikes forever and test drove a '15 Roadmaster last summer. Thought long and hard about it then they announced the 16 models and my favorite Springfield blue/cream color was in the line up and pulled the trigger for me. Had 7 dealers working on finding one and the Lincoln, NE dealer was the first to come thru. Purchased it in December and have loved it from the git go. This bike has everything one can need right out of the showroom minus highway pegs. I have no need for a gps to clutter things up. The bike is fantastic to ride alone or two up, and I totally enjoy having the wife along for the rides. She loves the bike as much as I. You just can't go wrong with this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bike, I love, I mean Love my bike. I rode a 2014 Chieftain, put just over 60K on it and traded it for a 2017 Roadmaster. I love it MORE than the Chieftan, 1st Cut out the cat, 2nd slip ons, 3rd K&N Air Filter. Then summer pull off lowers. Life is good, heat issues gone. Indian needs to move the cat back on the right pipe and move the left pipe cat to the cross over. Problem sovled. Other than that, phenominal bike. It's my daily driver, in Las Vegas, NV. Heat in the summer 120 easy. Don't forget the download after the cat removal. Indian listen, I'm a 40 year rider, move the cat.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Demo- 2019 Americade What I liked: Beautiful bike; looks and sounds great. Running boards were large and positioned such that I could very comfortably stretch out when riding. Felt stable even at low speeds; plenty of torque across the rev band. Not as much: Weight was noticeable; Windshield didn't fully prevent buffetting at highway speeds as much as expected even in fully raised position; switching riding modes was buggy and didn't work easily (even with following instructions to fully let off throttle or be stopped when switching modes, couldn't get mine to work).

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dependability I purchased my Roadmaster about 18 months ago and I love everything except for dependability. it was in the shop at beginning of year because it would take a charge. It was just in recently for almost 2 weeks while the dealership worked with Polaris to determine cause of latest issues. Kudos to delearship as they provided me with bike to us in interim. Not sure want to do long distance rides.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from New to the tribe I was on the fence between the Harley Ultra Low and the Indian Roadmaster all winter long. Both where pretty compatible with what I was looking for. Just before spring I went to Harley Davidson first just to talk. Got treated like it didn't matter if I bought a bike or not. Went to Indian the same day and they made me feel like I mattered. Was interested in what it took to get my on the bike. That's when I knew wanted to be a part of the tribe. Not only did the bike sell itself. The salesman worked with me on my trade. Harley told me to sell mine on Craigslist because used Harley's were a dime a dozen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2016 Indian Roadmaster I bought my 2016 Roadmaster in July 2016 and have absolutely loved it. I installed True Dual exhaust and no longer have the heat issues on right side. This bike handles awesome, we ride a lot in Arkansas, Colorado, Black Hills and Texas Hill Country and it maneuvers on a dime on the twisty roads. Also, the dealership made the whole buying experience very enjoyable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from HEAT I purchase my bike in May 2016, Very enjoyable. The most balance bike I have ever written. I have been riding for quite sometime. Since 1976. Everything from a Kawasaki Kz900, Harley's, Yamaha's and Suzuki's. All are a lot of fun to ride but the best ride of all is my 2016 Indian Roadmaster. The biggest problem is the heat from the catalytic converter on the right side. My right leg got so hot people started walking by with baked beans and coleslaw asking where's the barbecue. I pointed to my right leg and say unfortunately it's me. Sorry no barbecue today. that's my only complaint and it would have been a good thing if the new GPS system on the 2017 had a conversion kit for the 2016.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Ride I bought this bike in the Spring of 2017. I upgraded from a Victory Kingpin to the Roadmaster. The RM is a much better bike. The Ride Command makes cruising extremely enjoyable. Being able to flip through and see the status of every part of your bike, from the average miles per gallon to the tire pressure to the direction your headed, can really give you a sense of comfort. The throttle moves the bike as easy or hard as you want in every gear. This bike is very well balanced also. You can move along in slow traffic without needing to put your feet down just to keep from falling. During the high heat of the summer, it does get hot, but when you're moving on a good road with some good friends, you don't feel the heat. Just the good ride.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sturgis Demo Rides Considering a new touring bike and test drive the standard Roadmaster and Roadmaster with cam and big bore upgrades. Went on 3 Indian rides and 3 Harley Davidson rides. The stock HD Road Glide Ultra beat both versions of the Roadmaster hands down. Unless a major design change comes in the 2020 model, it will be the HD Road Glide Ultra for me. Note I have an Indian Vintage and three Harley’s and am open to either bike st this time. The fact that the 2020’s were not available at Sturgis is a big disappointment. In closing I will say the Indian transmission is far superior than the HD design.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 116 ci Stage two cam I rode a demo bike at Hot Springs AR. today. It was the most disturbing ride I've had in a long time. The bike doesn't function at all below 2000RPMs. Very sluggish, no throttle response, jerks and surges. Is this what a new Indian is supposed to do? The Indian rep told me he throttles up and feathers the clutch. Wow really? Why would anybody want a bike that's not engineered properly to ride in a real life situation? What purpose is this bike made for? A touring bike will have to stop sometimes and take off again. Must you always take off at full throttle to keep from surging? What good is a bike that can't be ridden slow , in slow traffic, without throttling up and feathering the clutch?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable all-day tourer! I've had my Roadmaster for 17 months now, and have ridden nearly every day. It's been a great bike, with all the torque you could want, wind protection in the winter, plenty of storage, luxurious seat, and a grin inducing throttle. Issues have been minor cosmetic problems not surprising from a new model, but still dissapointing. Plastic chrome trim needed replacing at 6 months, and the dye on the seat leather isn't holding up well. I'm also on my third audio control panel due to rubber deterioration and my third fob after my first two both just died. (Not the battery, the failures were confirmed by the dealer.) Still, as a daily rider and tourer I love the bike and the dealer has been great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Bike I have owned out of 20+ motorcycles The motor on this bike pulls like a diesel freight train. Gob's of torque quiet engine but great exhaust note. The handling is better than my old Cross country tour or the Electra Glides and Road Glides I have owned and road. The ride is great, the features great. Time will tell, but the first thing I did was take the panels, saddles, and seat off to look under everything and get a close up. The quality and design of fitting is excellent. A step up from my Victory. Only thing I can say is if you ride one you will want one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pure Pleasure 2017 Indian Roadmaster, is a true pleasure to ride for both me and the wife! Classic, comfort, easy riding MONSTER in everyway possible. Handles like a dream, wants to turn due to the low center of gravity, plenty of storage, sounds sweet with the performance cams & Rhinehart slip-ons. The ride master control is out of this world, and miles ahead of any other motorcycle on the road, HD CVO has nothing on this bike NOTHING!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great All Around Motorcycle I bought my Roadmaster in July, switching from a Yamaha Raider. The bike is incredibly comfortable. Well designed, with tons of storage and extremely comfortable. It handles incredibly. I recommend this bike to everyone I talk to. It's not perfect, there is always something on any bike that can be tweaked. For me, the stock handlebars are a little low. Also the exhaust is too quiet (my personal preference), and runs hot. The only other problem I have run in to is that it seems to idle funny. From what I have read this is to meet EPA regulations. It definitely has more potential than what it is set up for stock. Those minor complaints are easily made up for in handling, comfort and storage.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good so far but not convinced I god rid of my 08 CVO Ultra for a 15 Roadmaster. Its at the 3rd dealer now for the warranty work and I have some concerns. The engine has a vibration at around 55mph. I was just told last week that this is normal for 14 and 15 Indians. One of the reason I got rid of my HD was I was sick of hearing that poor quality should be accepted as normal. Indian knows of the vibration and has obviously fixed it. As vibration does not fix itself and only causes premature wear and tear on other components this should not be considered normal and what ever was done to fix current production should be offered to fix my issue. At this time I would not recommend this bike to others. I have been riding bike for many years and know that this is not normal and nothing good will come of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2017 Roadmaster is Worldclass I have been riding for 45 years and live in Australia . We can ride here 365 days a year . I ride to work 5 days a week and get out on my Indian on the weekends . I have owned Super Tourers including Goldwings and Victory Visions and upgraded my Chieftain to a Roadmaster . The Roadmaster is capable in all things and brilliant in most things . The Indian handles really well for a big bike with very generous ground clearance. The 111 Cui engine is super torqey and pulls strongly in all gears . The ABS brakes give good feedback and work really well . The electronics are brilliant , and the 7" screen with Sat Navigation and multiple displays and awesome sound system is the best I have ever seen . The biild quality is very high with great paint and buckets of chrome . And importantly Indian have a large ever expanding range of accessories, if not a little expensive .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superior Engineering This motorcycle was agile and handled more like a sportdbike than a large touring bike. I felt as if I could ride for hours. There is virtually no vibration due to the way the engine is mounted. The tour pack is easily removed and installed. I found this bike superior overall in comfort, ride quality and features installed and available optional accessories. The power and throttle response were spot on. If these engines were water cooled they'd be downright scary fast. I loved the exhaust note and sound of the 111 v-twin. I thoroughly enjoyed this bike over any I've ever ridden.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What more could be asked for? I purchased in Jan of 2017 and love this bike. It handles better than my 2010 Chief Vintage and has sooo much more standard accessories. My 2 main comments are that the map updates did not go as specified and the customer satisfaction people wanted to argue with me and tell me that something was not happening when it in fact was. The download kept asking for some sort of prepaid authorization. I will have the update done at the dealer during my next visit. Item number 2 is an accessory complaint. I love the roadmaster, but do not always want that big trunk on it. It is easily enough removed, but once that is accomplished my wife has no backrest. The accessory catalog says that the available rack will NOT fit with my Roadmasters heated seat. So they want me to replace the large heated seat for a smaller one and then buy a backrest, rack and backrest pad. Now here's the deal. If Indian can manufacture that giant piece of hardware that holds the trunk, they can certainly manufacture the hardware to attach the same place as the trunk but hold a backrest and pad for my wife. I feel as they are making it difficult to make a quick switch from a trunk to a backrest, and maybe just want to sell another seat. Let me unclip the trunk and clip the backrest in its place!! Simple. That way changing the seat every time is not required. Sorry for rambling!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Bike! I rode this bike at a recent demo day and I found it to be a great experience. I like the versatility and infotainment of the ride command system, I think that it is the best setup in the business bar-none. I like the rear cylinder disable feature, it seems to work very well. I also like that the gear indicator functions whether the clutch is engaged or not. I found the ride to be a little cramped. Coming off of a Victory Vision, I felt that I had limited options for foot position. The ride was very smooth, and the engine was very torquey. Overall this is a very well built motorcycle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Springfield Blue & Cream After patiently waiting & watching Polaris raise this newly branded Indian motorcycle into the 21 century for a few years & for an Indian Dealership to finally arrive in Vancouver, {Langley} I indulged myself into this beautiful iron horse known as Roadmaster. I had visited a many newly popping up dealerships all over north america in these years to see the bikes as they were coming in & started to see & feel the excitement I was getting to the styles & design. After building & rebuilding this bike countless of times on the web site, I think I got it the way I want it. Photo included.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful Bike, but the price! Took the road master for a test ride, I was pleasantly surprised at its balance and the ability to maneuver at low speeds. This truly a luxury touring machine with plenty of grunt for passing and riding two up. I was disappointed in the lack of extras included, being priced at the top of the touring market I would have expected more options than the other guys, instead you have to shell out a pretty penny to load you machine up with all the things you need like drivers backrest, armrest extensions for passenger. At 40k all in (Canada) the starting price for this bike is very high.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smoothest Ride Ever I traded my Harley Elctra Glide Ultra Classic in for the Roadmaster. I went to the dealership during a test your metal ride and was wowed by the quality of the bike. Then I took it our for a ride and was so amazed at the smoothness of the bike. The way it handles in corners, the balance. I can only say that it was mind blowing. When I got back to the dealership, I talked with them and got the info package. 4 days later I dropped the Harley off as a trade-in and rode away with a new Roadmaster. I can say whole heartedly that I will never return to Harley. I am a die hard Indian fan.

Indian Chief Dark Horse

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've got Fire & Thunder! I bought my Dark Horse at Indian Motorcycle of Springfield in Westfield, MA. It's a 2016 customized as a Bomber with stage 1 exhaust, air box and stage two cams. This follows two previous Indians and it's the best yet!! Smokin' torque, thunderous exhaust and firery Fast!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bad A$$!! The performance of the DH is unmatched. Soooo fast, and handles corners like a dream. Maintenance costs are low and easy to do yourself. Polaris/Indian have HD beat in every category.

Springfield Dark Horse
Starting at $27,499 CA MSRP
2019 Indian Springfield Dark Horse Thunder Black Smoke is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 86.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Springfield Dark Horse with Ape Hangers Demo ride was very nice but my first time with ape hangers had me a little concerned. I just didn’t feel in control as I do on my 2017 Roadmaster Classic. It also had after market exhaust with high flow air cleaner very powerful had to really hang on!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ride in the rain I took a test ride this afternoon, unfortunately it was raining. I found the Springfield easy to ride and saw it's potential as a long distance friend. However, the rain and the traffic I was riding in made my test ride feel even shorter than it was.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice bike! Demo days rider 8-30-19 Bettendorf Ia. The one I rode was Matte white. Nice cushy seat and smooth ride. Shifting was good, Decent Power to weight ratio. Little vibration through bars ,But not terrible. Nimble for the size it is, I would own one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Where are the differences? I honestly don't see any major differences in these new bikes. They look like the ones that were out last year and before that. I test rode one of these bikes and while they are nice, I still don't see a lot of upgrades or major changes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2019 dark horse I purchased a 2019 dark horse and i love the bike. The power is excellent ,the suspension is awesome! and I love the auto windshield, auto saddle bag locks and the tire pressure monitoring. theirs a little more room on the back for my wife than the Harley street glide we looked at and all of our friends are on Harley's for now.I believe the Indian motorcycle company is the up and coming American made motorcycle company!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I loved my 2018 I bought my Darkhorse in September of 2017 off of the show room floor at All Out Cycles and have put over 31,000 miles on it in under 2 years.

Rides so nice & handles like a dream. I feel like I can do anything on it. If your thinking bout buying one, STOP, no more thinking, just get to your nearest dealer & bring it home. I added a Freedom Shields Windshield (14”) & a Heel Shifter (should be standard?)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2019 Chieftain Dark Horse...116! Got to demo the 2019 Chieftain Dark Horse today at Coastal Indian in Myrtle Beach, SC...and it had the 116 big bore upgrade. First impression was POWER! Second impression was nimble...this bike responded extremely well. The entertainment system is the best out there. This will be my next bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome power I just attended the Indian motorcycle Demo ride in my area and chose the Chieftain Dark Horse. I was amazed by the power and throttle response especially in Sport mode.I took the bike through some twisty's and the handling was great. The adjustable electric windscreen is also a good added feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Bike! I actually ride a BMW but I love Indian bikes. Ride them every chance I get. I will eventually have a Chieftain in my stable, once I get my last kid out of college. This one is incredible. I love the updated fairing. The sound system is excellent. Cruise control, ABS AND electric windows!!!!
