Indian Scout Sixty

2019 Indian Scout Sixty Thunder Black is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 413.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun ride I’ve been wanting to ride a Scout and was given the opportunity today during demo days. I enjoy my Springfield, but can’t help but wonder if I would have chosen the Scout had I ridden it first. Loved the experience!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth riding bike I was really impressed with the Scout 60. The response and comfort of the bike for my size and height were excellent. I am really short and heavy and this bike did not lag or groan under my weight. In fact I also tested a Scout as well and really preferred the 60 over the Scout. Thanks for the opportunity to ride!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice extras good looking bike First ever Indian ride and I was totally impressed with handling . Great balance with plenty of power to spare!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect bike for me! I'm 48 years old and this is my first motorcycle. Being new to riding, I wanted a bike that is easy to ride, but not so feable that I'd want to buy a new bike after a month. Feels like this bike has plenty of power, at least for what I want to do. For the past few days, I've just been riding around my neighborhood and an slowly expanding my travels. I am having so much fun! When I'm not riding, I'm wishing I was riding.
Date published: 2019-04-25
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really smooth and powerful I only rode for the demo, but was very impressed with how comfortable and powerful it was as-is as a stock bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth like butter Took the Scout Sixty for a demo ride... What a fantastic bike. Incredibly comfortable, decent power, ridiculously smooth. Looks like there will be a Scout in my garage in the not too distant future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprizing! I rode this out of curiosity after riding the regular Scout and, Wow, that was crazy good! It road just as well as the regular Scout. The acceleration seemed to be the same, perhaps because the bike was lighter? The lighter weight made handling easier too. I found myself liking this ride more!
Date published: 2019-04-05
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous bike!!! I had been looking at getting back into riding and had been looking at some other bikes. I happened upon the Indian website and saw the Scout Sixty. It is just a wonderful looking bike and it is very comfortable. I added the saddle bags and windscreen and just love it. Don't let anyone tell you that it is underpowered. It is plenty powerful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I want a Scout Sixty Took a demo ride on a Scout Sixty at Daytona Bike Week and I can’t wait to get my own. I own a Scout now which I am keeping but the Sixty is a really fun bike. Maybe I’ll start collecting Scouts in all the different colors they come in.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bike, once you accessorize I bought my Sixty in late 2016 and have over 7500 miles on it. I love the bike - it performs well and can be used for limited touring. My only beef is that I ended up having to upgrade several of the stock features - some may be fine with the bike as is, but I swapped out the following: Kenda tires for Michelin Commander IIs (essential upgrade - it makes a world of difference), OEM headlight for an LED, reduced reach handlebars just because I'm shorter than average, the Scout's torpedo tube mufflers for Crushers (this also is an essential upgrade, IMO), aftermarket saddlebags (a matter of taste and less pricey than Indian's), the Indian 1920 solo seat which looks awesome and is very comfortable for me, and an Aeromach heal shifter. So the great news is: its customizable/upgradable. The slight downside is that once you've gone down that route, you've got around $13K into it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent bike! I bought my Scout Sixty originally intending to just teach myself how to street ride, and eventually trade up. Now I do not see myself ever trading or selling my Scout Sixty. It was the perfect bike to teach myself on, it is BEAUTIFUL, easy to handle, and comfortable even for long rides. As a very short individual (5'0") riding was a little intimidating when I test rode Harley Sportser and Dyna models. On my Scout I have perfect confidence riding, even without any reduced reach parts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable ride rode this bike at the demo in Denton TX. it's comfortable and has a perfect weight and power but the front shock seemed too soft, and it was hard to keep my feet on the pegs with foward controls, better grip on the pegs or foot boards would lend themselves better to the location of the foot controls.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong performer in its class Demo ride of Scout60 was impressive. Simple, straightforward, strong torque, easy to handle and fun! Perfect for around town and 100 mile rides, great look too. I was also impressed with the tightness of the engine...smooth, throaty but quiet sound. Personally I like it much better than Sportster. Ergos, lack of windscreen and bags make other models a better choice for long rides, but for its class its a real winner. Great value too. I imagine it will run forever. Nice job Indian!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Timeless connection to the heritage of motorcycles I thought this was (as requested) a review of my test ride, so I've only had about an hour of seat time with this bike. I was impressed. Beautiful, as is the whole Indian lineup. I'd really recommend riding in the Indian promo tour; the ride was surprisingly long, and not slow or boring. Thanks, Indian!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I didn’t expect it to be this good of a bike! I went on a test ride and was really surprised how good the bike was!! It had very good driving matters, excellence acceleration, low vibration- I’d say smooth for a V twin and it’s the Scout 60 their “starter bike”. I was impressed!! The only thing that was unusual is the front end got a little light at the higher speeds which didn’t give full confidence! I miss the techometer as you can’t see the digital tech going into the sun.

Date published: 2018-10-08
Rated 4 out of 5 by from fun to ride It was a fun bike to ride. The riding position was a bit uncomfortable for me. Handlebars and foot pegs a bit futher out than I prefer. Plenty of power and go. Braking was excellent, turning radius was good and overall agility of bike was good. Speedo was easy to read, wish they would have put fuel gauge or fuel remaining in toggle information.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good handling and smooth power Took one out on a demo ride and really enjoyed it. Smooth power and good handling a great bike for using around town.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't beat the price and runs great I got my driver's license right before going to demo day. This was the 1st bike I rode. For the day i ended up going on 7 rides. By the end of the day this was my favorite being a new rider. Already got one on reserve. The customer service at Indian Motorcycle Kansas City is the best. Thanks to Blake and his crew I will be buying a Scout60 October 15th.

2019 Indian Scout Indian Motorcycle Red / Thunder Black (ABS) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 1008.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful looking right beautiful and reliable It’s a beautiful looking motorcycle she rides like a dream the new love of my life

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautifully crafted Machine This is my Second indian scout. Eventhough the cons are still a a bug, all the pros’ take over. It is comfortable. Easy to maneuver in the city . Scouts love freeways, that is why i find it enjoyable to have long rides. The torque was something that surprised me from the beginning as it puts a smile on my face when i go to the fourth , fifth, sixth gear. Solid machine. No plastic anywhere. Sucks that there the closest dealer is 80 miles away but hopefully they expand once we,indian lovers, prove we all need a dealer in major cities or closer to them. The fact that scouts here in the US dont have the steering lock system installed, makes it unsafe in sketchy areas as people can just roll them away. So im supposed to spend $600 (parts + labor) to have it installed. So that sucks really. Overall it is my favorite baddest looking bike i’ve owned (Yamaha, suzuki, triumph, ducati) in my 18 year experience.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great feel You know when it feels right . The weight is awesome the ride is great. I been riding for years and now I go out to my garage every day to look and sit on my scout, when I can't ride it. I love my new Indian scout

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! This is my 3rd Indian. I have a 1946 Indian Chief and a 2018 Indian Roadmaster. I bought this 100th Anniversary Scout for scooting around town. It’s comfortable, quick, nimble, and fast! As it is a “limited edition” (only 750 produced), I also think it’ll be a nice investment. I love the color as well, with hints of blue in the red.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my Scout I've had the Scout for 2 months and I love it. I had a Sportster and find the Scout to be so much easier to manage and maneuver. Nice features - like a low fuel light!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome bike! I bought my scout last summer, and absolutely love it. It’s my first bike and I was very impressed with the power and styling of the bike. I had bought all the accessories. I highly recommend the led pathfinder headlight, and getting the stage 1 straights. I just ordered the chrome spoked wheels and a set of whitewalls and am excited to see them installed

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Indian Scout 100th Anniversary I bought my Scout in January and couldn't wait to ride. I've taken advantage of some warm weather and rode some long days. Almost got my first 500 in. This bike is awesome and a head turner. I have gotten a lot of compliments already so can't wait to get more days/miles in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Mid Sized Motorcycle I purchased my Indian Scout this spring and have put just under 3000 miles on it. It is one of the most comfortable motorcycles that I have owned over the years. I love the styling and the power and it fits me perfectly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Size matters. Love the bike but it’s a pretty small frame and you make up for it by stretching out the controls and handle bars making for an uncomfortable riding position.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scout is an AWESOME bike, First off,I actually own a Metallic Jade 2018 Scout that I LOVE! Today 8-30-19 I rode the 2019 Bergundy over Thunder Black Scout with Indian stage pipes. Rode nice with decent power. Comes with Fox shocks for a better ride. Weird it had shorter bars like a bobber, So it felt like riding a bobber, When it was the regular scout. Still sweet though!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ride on great bike I loved it. It is a lot better of a ride and a lot more comfortable then the Harley Sportster I sold in January.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Spunky and Responsive Very easy to handle, responsive and fast. Shifts well. I like to hear the engine when I shift, and it was too quiet. I burnt my leg on the pipes, so I would change them. I didn’t like that the signal lights were together on the same side. Fit and Finish was good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bike I bought the bike in May, I traveled 2700 km, it's fantastic, manageable and with a gritty engine. The only flaw is the front brake a little weak for the performance it has. The bike consumes little, on average 21km / liter. I'm glad I bought it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great upgrade on seat. Suspension. Had a blast. Been training on a Harley sportster 1200 and the difference is night and day. I appreciate Harley’s “clunk” of the shifter, rattle of the engine, but the Indian shines on the suspension and smooth ride.10 times better than the sportsters including the iron 883. the scout had great throttle response, and nice upgrade on the new seats. stylistically it always wins but I also enjoyed the dash display. Visiting the demo truck at Ukes Harley at the end of the month to get another feel for what I’m buying next year, but right now it’s Indian. Appreciate the demo.r

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I should of bought the Scout Not meant for New York Long Island roads. The suspension is very hard so you will bite your tongue on big bumps and every time you run over any kind of bumps the shock pushes your body and arms against the throttle.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great bike seat sucks I bought this bike a couple months ago or so I like everything about the the (Scout bobber) the looks the feel all except the seat. The seat has got to be the worst seat ever. I ride to work and other place every day possible and my max time is 40 min on the bobber seat, after that I’m ready to apply preparation h and I’m a young guy. I mean my god the thing is terrible, and I own a buell and the seat is better on that bike. I get it’s a city bike so they say but geez I live in a big city so..... please step it up on that. Ok, other than the seat the bike is great good power ergonomics minus seat and USB port is great for phone gps usages. Keep the good work but step it up on seat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing piece of machinery!! It's only been a month and a half since since I brought the Bobber Sixty. I don't regret it for a second. The bike is so much fun to ride. I put 400 miles on the motorcycle already and I feel like that was in a blink of an eye. I was worried that since this is Indians cheapest motorcycle, I would have to upgrade it ASAP. I was wrong, this can be my forever bike. I really don't know what's better, the looks or the performance. Both are equally amazing. I would definitely recommend it if someone want a midsize cruiser.
Date published: 2020-07-25
Rated 4 out of 5 by from First cruiser Bought my 19 Scout bobber at the beginning of June. I absolutely love the style and curves of this bike. I’ve already been given a ton of compliments. The engine runs great although, the power is generated above 4K rpms. Didn’t really get to enjoy this till after my oil change. The bike handles great and feels very light, flips through twisties. The only down sides that I’ve found so far are; the seat, which I’ve replaced. It’s only good for 45 mins or so. Secondly, I’m not a fan of the forward controls. I’m a shorter rider, and it has me sitting in a clam position between my legs and arms. I did add 2” adjustable risers to help with this. Lastly, the stock pipes...these cannons kill all sound coming out of them. I can hear the gears over the bike exhaust. Not my thing at all. Overall, I love the bike. It will need a little tweaking to make those multiple hour trips.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing Bike, early headaches I love the bike from the styling to the performance. I receive a lot of compliments and the bike is just truly a pleasure to ride. The bike gets great gas mileage and although that isn't the biggest concern for most i do commute the better part of 9 months out of the year in the NH/ Maine area by motorcycle. Now the bad, two days after I picked up the bike Brand new from the dealership the CHECK ENGINE light came on. The Brake Light was shorting to the Battery. I found that there was an unused connector missing some sort of cover and it had filled with dirt and moisture. The dealer was of no help when i asked them about it. I contacted POLARIS and they were able give me a part number, and it was available for purchase. I contacted the Dealership after being informed it was to be covered under warranty. That was 3 weeks ago with no updates from the dealer. Now after heavy rain the High Beam light comes on and after toggling the switch it will go off and in time come back on even though the high beams aren't on. It also has proprietary oil that you can expect to pay $72 for an oil change kit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun, great looking, but not perfect I have had my Bobber for a couple of months and have put 1,000 miles on it so far. It rides good, nice power, and gets lots of comments every time I take it out. Just a couple of things I don't like. The front brake is weak, the lean angle is too shallow, and the seat hurts after about an hour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bobber Twenty This bike has great style, power, handling. A little lacking in comfort. I replaced the stock saddle seat with an Indian comfort seat and would highly recommend. Suspension is a little rough as well but not to bad with the comfort seat. All in all I am happy with my purchase and can’t wait to ride when I have a chance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect For Me! I LOVE my 2020 Indian Scout Bobber / White Smoke! Yes, this bike looks amazing, yet that's not the reason why it was purchased for my surprised 50th birthday gift! I am not a tall person, I'm 5'3". Therefore trying to find a motorcycle with great power, a perfect fit at a fantastic price wasn't easy...until I saw the 2020 Indian Scout Bobber. The moment I sat on it in the showroom, I knew it was the perfect bike for me! I have enjoyed every moment on my new motorcycle!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool is understated First Indian Motorcycle purchase after contemplating for a year which model to buy. I've been riding for 20 years and owned various bikes from dirt, sport, street and cruisers. The scout Bobber ABS is the coolest yet. It feels good to ride; powerful and appeal. Its a medium bike with a big attitude. I kept mine solo style and don't regret hitting the road alone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun to ride Traded in a Chieftain for this Scout. I missed the fun of riding without a shield. My new Scout 20 Bobber has the looks, quickness and fun in spades. It’s perfect except the seat.. the tractor seat looks great! But it’s a tad tough to stay on when you accelerate quickly. Changed it for the Indian Comfort Seat and besides sitting lower and being softer I’m not sliding off when I pull back the throttle.

Timeless look. Modern machine.

Indian Vintage
Starting at $24,499 CA MSRP
2019 Indian Chief Vintage Thunder Black is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 604.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loving it! Owned a Kaw in the mid 80's and after a 30 year no ride period, I bought a Scout in 8/18 and after 2100 miles I knew I had to go bigger and while at the dealer I seen this baby. After negotiating with "the boss" we agreed on trading the Scout if I kept the same color combo or black and tan. The Vintage is everything we wanted and expected. It's a comfortable ride, the throaty distant rumble of the pipes is like music, it has everything we needed shy of the backrest for us both and the weight makes encountering winds or large vehicles a non-issue now. Keyless is something I really wish hadn't been added as I like the key in the ignition but that is the only thing I would call a minor negative if it's a negative at all. I've received a lot of compliments and the group I ride with use the words "awesome" and beautiful" when they first seen it. I think there's a few HD riders considering "upgrades" as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overly well-behaved Test rode this at the Long Beach show, and it's the first bike of this size I've ridden. Shifting was smooth and quiet, the ride was supple, and the power was more than adequate. I rode with a passenger, and she really liked the backrest and thick sidebars. This bike is just short of being twice as heavy as my current bike, but the balance was fantastic. And of course, the styling was exactly what I was after. My only complaint is that this bike was almost TOO refined. Shifting seems too smooth, and the pipes were too quiet (I know that can be changed). Floorboards had my feet in a different position than my other bikes, but it didn't interfere with shifting, which was always something I had wondered about. All in all, a fine machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a good honest bike I was a bit worried when I bought my Chief Vintage in January of 2014...it looked like a real pretty bike but I wondered if it would be all lipstick and rouge. I'm pleased to say that my Chief Vintage has proved to be a reliable trouble free bike. It has great options like ABS and it is a real eye catcher.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I enjoyed the test ride This was a nice bike to ride. Main positives were excellent braking (almost too strong at first!), nice power, smooth shifting (very easy to get into N), and of course the iconic styling. The handlebar position was very good for me. (5' 9") The only thing I disliked about it was the high center of gravity which I wasn't used to after riding my current bike for many years. I will definitely consider buying one in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough choice...Cowboy or Indian? Bought this bike used from a Native American. The fringe was a birthday gift from his mother. I haven’t ridden for over thirty years either ( BSA) and the classic look of this well built bike pulled me in. With Polaris ownership I had confidence that it was well built and would have servicing. I am taking the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course to get me mentally prepared and refresh some skills. Ready to ride the rural roads of Vermont this fall.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid bones I am 6'4". The floor boards were a little to high. To get comfortable I had to slide my foot all the way forward and it was wedged under the shifter. The factory grips look cool but felt sticky. I noticed alot of wear in the seat, I think that they need to use a different method of dying the leather the color seemed to be flaking of the seat. That being said the bike has alot of power to spare and handles well. With a few changes it would be perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I never expected this! I got “The Chief” after my bike broke down and I wanted something new. My Vintage was on the show room floor and I was amazed at the classic look of this beast. The second I sat on it and turned the throttle I was hooked and now over 8000 miles the feel of the power on this machine still makes me smile. I never expected that getting gas usually meant someone, Young and Old, would stop and take a second look and want to talk about the bike. I love the stories I hear from older generations about their first Indian and the adventures they had. This bike is like a time machine to simpler days. Balance, power, handling are all top notch. Yep! I’m a fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love my Indian I bought my Vintage June 2017. By September I had over 8500 miles on it. I had not ridden in over 30 years when I decided to try to get back into riding. I bought my Vintage because I liked the nostalgic look and feel of it. After 30 years of not riding it took about a week to get use to it and to feel more comfortable on it. This bike continually turns heads while I’m riding. No matter, from teenagers to retired, the response is the same.....”Hey! Nice looking bike!” I went on a trip with friends from MN thru SD to WY & MT. Went thru the Big Horn Mtns and up Bear Tooth Pass and found that it handled extremely well on the 2 lane and 4 lane highways and up the switchback turns in the mountains. It was totally awesome! When we would stop in a town or small city I would have to answer questions for at least 10 minutes when people saw that it was an Indian and they would then relate their stories of when they use to ride......It was great. This was the best investment I’ve made in years......this is my stress reliever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic Style March 2016 I bought A Vintage. 31 yrs of nothing but H-D. I had read and looing longingly at the pics but what sold me was the motor. I love the fact that there is only one oil to change. No longer do I need Primary, Engine and Transmission fluids. One does it all. Then there's the Power of the Big V Twin. I have the stage 2 hop up (and will do the Stage 3 or trade in for a new model) and at Highway cruising this sled is responsive and handles better than any H-D I ever owned (Dyna/Softail/FXR/Rigid) and at low speeds its the best turning ride ever. I will never own anything but an Indian from here on. Oh yeah, Flat Track is back because Indian has made it a priority. The old saying "win on track, win on the sales floor." Do yourself a favor, test ride an Indian.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent bike! Bought my 2016 Vintage in the fall of 2016 as a birthday present to myself. Got a good deal as the dealer was trying to make room for the 2017s at the time. Only have about 5000 miles on it so far but absolutely love this bike! Looked at them at the Indian Motorcycle Booth at the Laughlin River Run for 4 years in a row and finally broke down and bought one. This bike has great power and handling, not to mention the awesome Indian look with the skirted fenders. I get positive comments from folks every time I take it out! Best purchase I ever made!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Motorcycle I've Ever Ridden! I've owned over 200 bikes starting in 1973. Recently I purchased a 2017 Indian Vintage, Willow Green and Cream. Not only do the stunning looks stop traffic, it is easily the BEST motorcycle I have ever ridden! She's got it all, looks, handling, and the awesome performance of the 111 Thunder Stroke. Thinking about it? Test drive one, you won't be sorry.

Indian Chief Dark Horse
Starting at $21,999 CA MSRP
2019 Indian Chief Dark Horse Thunder Black Smoke is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 317.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kiwi Indian Dark horse Bought my Dark Horse in May 2016 and have loved it ever since. Everyone except my wife knew it was on order, unfortunately the day it tuned up at home i was away on business, so i received a message from my surprised wife to say "your new black baby has arrived and is safe n sound", needless to say this was not the first time a new toy had arrived without her knowledge (or will it be the last). To me Indians have always been the pinnacle of motorcycles, and this bike proves it. I have owned so many bikes over the years, but this one is a keeper. These bikes are so cool in every way Have added a pillion seat, pegs, sissy bar (for the wife, she loves it too), Rinehart mufflers (sounds awesome), Wimmer high flow air intake, mapped and tuned and more recently ape hangers. Still to come are stage 2 cams and Freedom Performance dual headers. Indians are well respected here in New Zealand due to our Kiwi legend Burt Munro (the worlds fastest Indian).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've got Fire & Thunder! I bought my Dark Horse at Indian Motorcycle of Springfield in Westfield, MA. It's a 2016 customized as a Bomber with stage 1 exhaust, air box and stage two cams. This follows two previous Indians and it's the best yet!! Smokin' torque, thunderous exhaust and firery Fast!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bad A$$!! The performance of the DH is unmatched. Soooo fast, and handles corners like a dream. Maintenance costs are low and easy to do yourself. Polaris/Indian have HD beat in every category.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth!! Test rode an Chief Dark Horse and loved it. Besides the fact it's pretty much murdered out it was smooth to ride. The throttle response was nice with out being choppy in 1st gear like my Harley was when I got it. Shifting was nice, not to much work or overly loud like some bikes. And the biggest selling point for me was the suspension. I hit a pothole every bit of six inches deep and about a foot wide, going 25 mph. I barely felt it. And on the highway that engine is a BEAST. 4th gear, 70 mph, and I could still feel I was in the power band and had 2 gears left. Again loved it, can't say enough good things about it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big bike smooth to handel I use to own a Harley Davidson Sportster that I traded in for a Victory 8 ball. That was a no brainer....my love for Victory endured through my Divorce and eventually I got rid of my previous 8 ball because of other adjustments in life that came my way. Fast forward 7 years later I started noticing the Indian brand. Nothing is as iconic as the Indian motorcycle. I took note of the Indian Dark horse, did my research and followed my gut. I visited two Indian dealerships but getting approved for a loan was difficult. Finally Music City Indian in Nashville Tennessee came through for me. I flew from NYC to Nashville. Those guys at the dealership were great. They got me on my bike and I took my maiden voyage 925 miles. She got me home and with no regrets. I missed my 8 ball but I have a new love... I encourage anyone looking to purchase an Indian to look into the Dark tribe. This Dark Horse is one ride not to be passed up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Ride Ever! I would not own another bike brand. Out of all the motorcycles I have ever got on, my Dark Horse has them all beat. The overall feel of the ride is the greatest, comfort and performance included.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ride Great Bike I have owned this bike for about a month. This is my second Indian after owning 4 Harley's. This Dark Horse is the most comfortable, agile bike that I have ever ridden. In all its an awesome bike

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbelievable ! Ever since Indian relaunched a few years ago, I wanted one. With much sacrifice and dedication to own such a premium machine, I was able to get one a month ago. It has been worth every hour and penny invested. My Dark Horse handles like a dream, has power on tap, puts observing heads on a swivel, and has been everything I ever wanted from a motorcycle. I am on the small side, 5' 7" and worried that it might be too much bike for me. However, the riding position, balance, and control are outstanding. I have no qualms whatsoever about the length or weight of the bike. It is an ease to handle and I could not be more impressed or proud to be a member of the Indian tribe !

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Really Wanted to Like It I've been wanting to ride this bike for a few months now. Went to a demo day this past weekend and was pretty excited. However, I couldn't really find a riding position on this bike that I was completely comfortable with. For me, I have really long arms, the swept back bars caused me to have to lean back more than I liked. Maybe some straighter bars would solve that for me. On the highway I felt like I was having to grip the bars too hard to basically hold on since I was leaning back too much. In the twisties I found myself pulling myself upright and I slid my feet all the way back on the boards to feel in control but it still wasn't perfect. I also felt that the bike revved lazily and I never really felt the big motor punch I was hoping for. It was a nice bike but not really for me, which I'm sad about

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredibly Happy Hands down best cruiser I have ever ridden. More power and better handling than my previous bikes (most of them Harleys). But the styling along with fit & finish turns this bike into a work of art as well. Always looking forward to my next ride!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Ride!! Bought 2016 Indian Dark Horse 2 moths ago. Traded my 2015 Fatboy Lo on it. No regrets, this bike has a great ride. Never going back. Now I know why HD's are called Iron Horses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ride I've had my bike for a few months now. It was my Christmas present to myself. It also was an increase in power from my previous bike. On the test drive, I really liked how it handled. CG is nice and low so it balances very nicely in all conditions. Still waiting (over a month) on the manufacturer to get back to me in regards to damage to the finish when I purchased it. I hope it's not a nightmare to get fixed because since then, I have found another damaged location and have yet to bring it to the attention of the dealer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love at first sight Loved the look from the first time I saw, but was intimidated by its size. That changed after a test ride. It handles great and is super comfortable. There is no other bike right now that I would rather own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful, head turning styling & unyielding power I bought my Dark Horse in December of 2016 because of a need for a different bike to take on a planned ride from the midwest to Skagway, AK. I walked into a dealership, having never ridden an Indian. Saw the Dark Horse and fell in love. Bought it on the spot. Wonderful bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like Riding on a Lazyboy!! Bought one of the first numbered bikes. Do not regret it. It rides Awesome. Was so use to tightening up for bumps on my Harley. This thing takes them in stride with some Great Glide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from top of the line in the motorcycle world I climbed on this motorcycle in June 2014. Power, torque, craftsmanship and style. I absolutely LOVE this motorcycle. This bike handles like a dream in hard curves, mountains and around town. The thunderstroke 111 is a beast. I believe I will keep this bike for ever. I have owned 3 other make of motorcycle. None of them compared to the quality of the Indian chieftain.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the styling. Had bike about and runs great and we get a lot of compliments. Only 3 things I would change: More comfortable seat, add a compass & reduce engine heat from rear cylinder.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Features but HOT ! I test rode the Chieftain while at Sturgis. Here's what I found; The suspension was spot on. It was the most comfortable ride I had EVER ridden, and I've been riding since 1971. That feature alone might sway me to buy one. The electric windshield was terrific but was made cheaply. It was loose and sometimes rattled while riding. It needs some work. The power was very good at all speeds. The tranny shifted easily into all gears, including neutral. The bike had a good feel to it and great sound from those mufflers at all speeds. The displays on the fairing were easy to read and well thought out. The capacity of the saddlebags were comparable to my Harley. All other features were very good as well. The only down side to this bike; it is HOT at idle and standing still!!!!! I mean uncomfortable HOT! That issue needs to be addressed very soon! And the paint isn't up to par with Harley either. Overall, if you can put up with the heat, its a good ride. As I said before, the suspension is spot on for comfort!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ride, Really Smooth and Powerful! I had the opportunity to ride a new Chieftan with the 116 engine. It was on a demo day at Coastal Indian. This bike has everything, power, style, and it was very comfortable. For me, to check off all these boxes is rare. It made such an impression on me I intend to buy one once I've paid off my Vintage, lol!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from IMPRESSED Rode the Chieftan at your Demo Days in Knoxville. I have a Road Glide and the Chieftan is a better motorcycle in every way. I was immediately comfortable doing anything I wanted to do on the bike. power, comfort, suspension, brakes, handling, slow speed maneuvers, all were superior to my Road Glide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable and sporty I've been riding naked street and adv bikes for years. I decided to take this bike for a spin and was totally impressed with it. The handling, power, ergonomics, engine and exhaust all came together for a truly enjoyable riding experience. Having the electronic adjusting windscreen and four speaker sound system let me ride around very comfortably to good tunes that could actually be heard over the sound of the wind.

Date published: 2019-05-10
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazingly smooth and comfortable. I got to test ride this during the Indian days event. I have never ridden a cruiser before, just sport and dirtbikes. I was intimidated at the weight and size but this motorcycle is so balanced and smooth you don't notice it. The power windscreen is amazing too.
Date published: 2019-05-09
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This bike is so many things!! The Chieftain could be your long haul bike, your cruiser, your hooligan, whatever! I rode one with the upgraded sound system and the stage 2 performance upgrades. Aside from the standard features that come on this bike, those two really made a difference in both performance as well as ride enjoyment (gotta love cranking some tunes with your fists in the wind!) Once we have our Scout paid off soon (another amazing bike, I might add), this is on our list to add to the garage!

Date published: 2019-04-24
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bike of my Dreams As a 50+ year rider, I can't rate the Chieftain high enough for comfort and amenities. Its nimble, powerful and overall rides like a much smaller bike, yet with the stability of a heavyweight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Demo Ride I demod the Chieftian. The bike handled great for its size. Very smooth manageable torque.
Date published: 2019-04-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ride. It has a sports bike feel in a large package. Very controllable even at very slow speeds when turning or pulling up to stop. I can't say that about your competitors in the same class.
Date published: 2019-04-11
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great new features! The new rider modes are great. The engine has much better throttle response than before. The Chiefton has always been a very well balance bike, and feels easy to maneuver around a parking lot at low rpms. Now the power is right where you want it, when you want it, on the road ways. I prefer the sport mode for regular riding.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice ride I’m a sport bike rider and thought I’d try out a cruiser. Thank you, Indian for providing that opportunity. The Chieftain is a very comfortable motorcycle. The controls are easy to understand and work. The motorcycle is easy to maneuver and handle considering the size. Overall, I thought it was a very pleasant first experience on a cruiser.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the Chieftain I test rode the Chieftain in Americade and most recently Daytona bike week. I absolutely love this motorcycle. It's easy to handle, has good torque, great radio and comfortable. I would definitely purchase a Chieftain over a Harley Street glide. Currently own 2 Ducatis and a Harley Road King and would definitely like to add an Indian one day. Thank you

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very comfortable I rode the 116 big bore kit on the chieftain at Daytona. This ride was really comfortable. I'm used to having a little more power on the throttle but that's because I own an m-109R. The power is not really noticeable but that doesn't mean it's not a good bike. This bike is really comfortable and the amenities and features are too many to list. It was a great experience

The bike is longer and heavier then any bike I have ever owned or ridden before. Naturally I was a little nervous. Any concerns I had disappeared before I had gone a mile down the road. I thought the bike was beautiful and stylish when I saw it but riding it was a real treat. Balanced, powerful, responsive are some of the words I would use to describe this bike. the bikes size and weigth were not an issue as I was going down the road. I was riding a stock bike and was surprised by the features on the bike. Windshield, cruise control, controls to switch between different styles of riding modes. There were a few things I would add to the bike. A bad back would prompt me to put a different seat with a backrest for the driver and the passenger. Highway pegs and lower add ons for the windshield to reduce the air turbulence as I went down the road. I loved the bike and now am interested in test driving a few more models with the intention of buying one soon. I’m interested in finding out how the other models compare to the Springfield.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Differences This bike was different from my bike in many ways. It just took a little time to get use to. An example is the clutch, the clutch engaged mid release, mine is at the end of the travel. The differences were all minor and just the differences between manufactures. By the end of the demo ride, I had adjusted to the differences. I guess you could say it has its own character.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Springfield Good lookin bike, rides nice, would prefer a higher seat height and buffeting behind the winshield is an issue at interstate speed but overall a great bike.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cramped riding position. Overall the Springfield handles well on the road. Good power in acceleration and braking well, ABS is nice to have. The saddlebags are roomy and I like the automatic locks. However the driving position is very cramped. Floorboards are high, makes my knees stick up way above the tank and the stock seat has me pushed forward to much. I like the handle bar grip position for my hands, very comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic look, modern day quality an ergonomics. Had experience on the Chiftein before, but the Springfield pushes all the right buttons for me. I think is the most balanced product off all the line up. Hard cases no only look better than soft bags, but also adds to protection for your things when you leave the bike parked or bad weather hits you on the road. The windshield offers good wind protection, with out the added weight off the fairing, and all keeping the classic look. Is the perfect blend of look and confort!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glorious Ride on Sprinfield I’ve had my Springfield about 6 months now, put on about 4500 miles of weekend riding, and I love everything about this bike. I’ve probably also put on about $4500 in accessories hahaha but it’s worth it to make it my own. She handles like a dream and any of my buds that have ridden her agree it’s the best bike they’ve ever ridden.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Heavy Cruiser On the Market I call it a cruiser, and it definitely is, but this bike is in fact a touring machine sans fairing. Add the passenger backrest and luggage rack and you can carry what you need anywhere. I believe this is the best handling of the heavy Indians. Upgrade the engine if you want; the stock 111c.i. TS has more than enough power. And dependability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Attention Getter! Lots of comments I bought the bike from the dealer and had them install the cam kit, exhaust kit and intake for the stage 2 before I took delivery. The dealer trailer-ed the bike to my house ready to go and went through the bike operations, Very Professional and friendly. Wow it sounded tons better than the factory job and has plenty of power. Unfortunate the next week I got the engine light on and it would not go off. The dealer trailer ed it back to their shop and replace O2 Sensors and reset computer. Got it back next week Engine light went off again. They talked me through the reset and had no issues since, a.rough start. Waiting for the other shoe to drop. Hope it doesn't. I have added the driver backrest and the handle bar bag with electrical socket so I can charge my phone and I added GPS. I also added a horn medallion the dealer put a cheap chrome sticker on which looked bad in a month. At these prices the bike should have the Indian horn medallion very nice classy look! This bike loves to roll and on the highway the cruise is the best of any bike I have driven, it just eats the road and is smooth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE LOVE LOVE MY BIKE 2018 SPRINGFIELD Better than any of my 6 previous harleys. Smother, faster, more reliable and looks way better. As far as I can see, this bike is better in every way. Only thing is, the bike should come stock with oil and air coolers. Bike runs hot and it is a must to add these 2 things so plan on it. You also want to add a leather groin cooler. Captain Itch Carrie's a nice one and is reasonably priced. Other than that, this is ONE HECK OF A GREAT BIKE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great riding motorcycle! 12,000 mile one year review and this is a keeper. A joy to cruise, tour and good for its size on the tight sections, too. I have owned goldwings, beemers, hogs, guzzis and Polaris left no stone unturned in designing and building this bike. I am going to run this up to 100,000 miles in the next 6 to 8 years and I know I will enjoy every mile. This bike is fully featured and with the high end finishes and performance, I have just kept it stock. Added a rack and tourpak and I'm good for touring - take off the rack, bags and shield and I have a sporty cruiser that will run well in its class. Speaking of class, the finishes and extras Indian puts on makes this a bike I dont have to troll through the accessory catalog to give it the complete look. My springfield is a winner and a good purchase for the money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Chief That Has Almost Everything. I currently own a 2014 Indian Chief Vintage Motorcycle. I've been riding motorcycles for 45 years and consider myself somewhat of a traditionalist. I'd like to see one of your more traditional models (Chief Vintage or Chief Springfield) with a factory installed 116 c.i. engine performance kit. That would grab my attention and my wallet! I hope to see one mid-year or no later than next fall. Hey, I'm an old rider and the clock is ticking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I liked the torque. In any gear. Lot of fun. Good sound from the exhaust. Best part - I was repositioning myself at a stop light, leaned too far over and almost dropped it. Not sure I would be able to right it without killing me, but I did. Not sure I would have been able to do that with a Harley. Only negative was the seat heat from the motor. It wasn’t even that hot today (SWFL) and my butt was burning. Maybe circulate air over the cylinders somehow? I drove a 1973 R75/5 over there today. Those cylinder heads stick out into the wind and I think it cools them

Rated 4 out of 5 by from first cruiser ride first time riding a cruiser, expected to be very different from my current motorcycle. the main thing to notice was that the suspension is quite soft and insulates the rider from the pavement. while that may be a comfort feature for such bike, it was weird to me, having no feedback. bike had very loud aftermarket pipes which did bother me quite a bit. Not my style...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Power, Slow pickup Test Drove the Springfield during the factory truck challenge. Liked the bike, comfortable ride, easy to ride well. Only drawbacks for me personally are 1) the footboards are two high for good ergonomics for my body. My knee was almost above my hip. 2) Slow throttle response. Other than that, a great bike

Indian Chieftain Limited
Starting at $34,499 CA MSRP
2019 Indian Chieftain Limited Thunder Black Pearl is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 202.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bike for those that are new to big cruisers. Very nimble bike once you get accustomed to the weight. I've always ridden sport bikes and supermotos so this bagger was a whole different experience for me. Great handling, awesome ride quality, nice quiet rumble with the stock exhaust. The brakes are more than adequate, throttle response is great. However, gear shifting was a little clunky and could take getting use to. Overall this bike is the best bang-for-your buck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best in class. Demo days in Maine. This is the best bike I have ever ridden. Love the look of the new saddle and is comfortable for the rider...if carrying a passenger you will want a different one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I was not expecting a smooth ride I went to the demo ride and right away when I saw the Indian Chieftain I just had to do It and take it for a spin. Getting on the bike I wasn’t expecting to be that well balanced I didn’t struggle and the handle bars are super smooth. I did not feel like I was forcing my body to steer the bike it handle well like a champ.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ride I rode the 116 version of the Chieftain Limited. Love the extra power. The height of the motorcycle has a good feel, I feel like I sit down into it, not on it. I love the adjustable height windshield, nice to be able to adjust it while riding. This one also had the upgraded stereo with the speakers in the saddlebag lids. It was nice, but not for the kind of money extra they were asking for it. Overall, if I had the cash today, it wouldn't be this model, cause I like the big classic fenders, but a Chieftain or Roadmaster would be in my garage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible Experience I have a 2018 Roadmaster and was curious about the experience on the Chieftain. The ride modes are absolutely the most incredible thing that stood out. I started out in touring mode and when I switched to Sport mode was like siting on a whole different bike. The 116 was way more power and speed than I could ever imagine. If you have a need for speed, its there with all the amidities and comfort expected in an Indian dressed bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from sweet ride great changes to the look I took a test drive on one in lake George and was very happy with it. I,m holding out to buy one, to see if they make a tour pack that goes with it, and also if they change it to a 4 valve then a 2. the only thing I did not like is the heads have a cheap look to the finish, but look good in black. I road the 2019 chieftain limited.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Demo days test ride Was really excited about riding this bike during the demo days. I love the styling of the new fairing, you can start to see some of the Victory DNA starting to cross over into Indian. The more modern styling is such an eyecatching feature. Hopefully we see more of the modern aspect of Victory coming into the Indian lineup. The ride was great, bike performed well, but as with the Roadmaster I had tested the day I felt somewhat cramped. The seating position is moved forward a couple of inches and so legroom and comfort isn't the same as what I have on my stock Victory Cross Roads Classic. In order to be comfortable and use the bike for touring the continent I would have to change the seat to an extended reach. Of the 3 bikes I demoed; Roadmaster, Chieftain LTD, and Springfield Dark Horse, this was the second most comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn't be happier! I live overseas and have been renting Street Glides about 8 days a year for the past five years. I rented the Chieftain two weeks ago and then bought my own three days later. This bike is amazing! Handles like a smaller, more nimble bike. The torque is fantastic. My only grips are the brake peg and kickstand. I upgraded both. This is Indian all the way. For anyone thinking this is a Street Glide "knock off", go ride one. The sound, the feel, the ride. Pure pleasure. And oh yeah...finding neutral is a total breeze! This is an incredible piece of design and workmanship.

After testing the stage 2, i am satisfied that i will be upgrading to a stage 2. the power and sound is just perfect for this bike and since my Roadmaster is just a upgraded Chieftain dark horse, i will be happy to be upgrading my bike with a stage 2. BTW, i have road tested numerous bikes over the years and can say without a doubt that the Indian brand is by far the most beautiful bike out there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth This bike is fantastic for tall riders. I'm 6'9" and it felt great! I test rode a 116 with some higher bars and had plenty of room. The bike has a TON of power, and despite the size corners surprisingly well; the most balanced machine I have ever ridden.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most capable bike I’ve ever ridden I test rode a DH Chieftain with mid rise bars, extended reach seat, and the 116” motor. I’m 6’3” and I couldn’t have been more comfortable. I’ve owned two HD Wide Glides, and two Victory Kingpins and this DH Chieftain took the cake.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chieftain Dark Horse 116 big bore kit The test ride was amazing! That 116 big bore kit had so much power! The different modes of riding were really cool too! The only thing I think they should do when putting the riders together is maybe have the less experienced ones in the back. Some of those guys clearly had not rode in a group before and had no idea what a staggered formation was. Some of them were all over the place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome power I just attended the Indian motorcycle Demo ride in my area and chose the Chieftain Dark Horse. The adjustable electric windscreen is also a good added feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2019 Indian Chieftain Dark Horse (Bronze Smoke) Bought the is bike in Sep 2018 and now have a little over 8,000 miles on it. Time for a review. On the day of purchase I did back to back test rides of a 2019 HD Street Glide Special and a 2019 Chieftain Limited. Both great bikes and both have pros and cons but in the end I chose the Chieftain. Things I like: Features - The Chieftain has led lighting all around and I really like the adjustable windshield and locking saddle bags. I do like the three ride modes but find myself typically riding in "Standard" mode. I appreciate the rear cylinder deactivation feature but have yet to use it. Even living here in Arizona I don't find engine heat to be an issue. I really like the ride command. It's intuitive, easy to use and has all the info I'll ever need. The tire pressure monitoring system is very nice to have. The ride - The bike rides and handles great. The suspension and ride quality was a big factor for me when choosing between the Chieftain and Street Glide. The Indian was just better. I also found the ergonomics better. The Indian fits me well. For being a heavy bike it sure does handle well. Feels light and nimble. Style - Of course this is subjective but I really like the new style. Yes, it looks more like an HD but I'm okay with that as I've always liked Street Glides. And I hate to say it but I've never liked the fairing, bags and big fenders on the older Indians. Guess I'm not nostalgic. I just don't like the "dated" look. Performance - The 111 is fine for me and I like that the power is down low. Being bagger I rarely push the RPM's that high anyway. Short shifting is pretty much how I ride. Would I like more power? Of course. I've considered the stage 3 kit but to be honest don't trust the dealership to install it correctly. Right now the bike doesn't have any issues and I'd like to keep it that way. I do have stage 1 installed (Indian Performance Air Intake and Rinehart exhaust). The Rineharts sound great. Things I don't like or wish were better and things I fixed: My biggest complaint is the dealership network and availability of parts and add-ons. The HD dealerships near me seem to be well organized and have everything you can think of to add on to your bike. Not so with Indian. Lots of things aren't available and when they are they're not in stock and need to be ordered. As mentioned above I would like to add stage 2 or 3 but just don't trust them to do it correctly. I did not have that feeling with HD. With every bike I've owned my very first purchase was touch-up paint for the inevitable rock chip in the fender, fairing and bags. Can I get that for my Bronze Smoke bike? Nope, not yet. Have contacted Polaris multiple times and they don't have it yet and they won't provide the paint code for proprietary reasons. It's a small thing but I found it to be odd and a little annoying. I would also like some lower wind deflectors but those aren't available yet either, at least not by Indian. While I like the led lighting I don't like the colored lenses on the front and rear signals. I wish they were clear or smoked. I figured that would be an easy upgrade but I'm having a hard time finding them. This could be on me. I also wish the front signals were dual purpose, turn signals and running lights. There may be after market options for this already but I'm not able to find them. A couple things I had to change - The stock windshield wasn't working for me so I upgraded to the 13.7 Indian Flare windshield which is a nice improvement. I've heard good things about the Rogue seat and in the beginning I liked it. I expected it get even better after some time breaking it in but that wasn't the case. Surprisingly it got worse and after 7K miles I replaced it with an Ultimate seat. The Ultimate seat sits me a little higher but it's way more comfortable. Big difference. Also, the Ultimate seat and backrest combo was pretty much the same price as the Rogue backrest and bracket alone. Getting the Ultimate was a no-brainer. The prices of Indian accessories is a little crazy. So in summary, the things I don't like are pretty small complaints and pale in comparison to the things I like about the 2019 Chieftain Dark Horse. The bike itself is great and I hope it proves to be reliable over the years to come. My other hope is that the after market and dealership network continues to improve. For the bike, I give it five stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features! I test fringe this bike today with a 116 big bore slip on stage 1 kit. It had increased speed and acceleration from the base model and was a dream to drive. The ride was smooth, the cornering was natural and fluid, gear shifting was smooth and very forgiving, and it was very easy to find neutral. The touch screen system was also very easy to use, understand, and contained simple functionality when driving.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Polaris does it again I have put on over 100,000 miles on four different victory motorcycles sense 2003. I was devastated when I heard that Polaris was no longer going to manufacture the victory motorcycle. After my test drive on a new Indian, my faith has been restored. I am anxiously anticipating the purchase of my new Springfield dark horse. Keep up the good work Polaris, “love you long time” :0

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Some nice motorcycle compared to Harley This is my first Indian. Have previously had 20 new Harley Davidsons since 1993. The last three were CVO Ultras. The Indian rides better, handles better, and has more items standard then the Harley Ultra Limited. If you are looking to purchase a new motorcycle don’t overlook the Indian. Ride one and you will be impressed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Replacement for my 2017 RM Much improved over my 2017 that I loved until I totalled it in a MVA in Texas. 116 motor with rear cyl. cutoff is excellent. The 111 ran way too hot. The new display features are great for my old eyes. Though the electronics boots up slow. Display is much clearer and cleaner looking. One thing I miss is the MPG reading which was on the 17. Bring it back. The drive modes, I guess, are good for the trick electronics focused kids. Not a plus for me. The GPS is also updated with weather/traffic layers that are handy. But will you please, please, please add the roadways MPH which Google/Waze and Harleys have!!! Another change made that I would like returned are the spring pin system for side bag removal. You now have to remove allan key screws. Not a deal breaker, but not as convenient. Beside a few listed items, the bike has been good. Only have a couple thousand miles on this new one so far. I average 15k+ miles a year, so time will tell how dependable it is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The complete package The 2019 Roadmaster comes with all the "necessities" of a full time rider. The derby, breather and all covers coming with signature Indian signatures or headdress, the chromed out switch covers, interface on the display screen, the features usually added cost came standard on the Roadmaster. It is a sweet ride and represents my second Indian purchase, my 2017 Springfield is companion in my garage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic motorcycle! I bought this bike for a 10 day road trip planned with friends for June 2020. We all know how that has turned out. This is the 4th Indian motorcycle I have owned. This being the 2nd Roadmaster. I have owned 3 other Indians, all being of the 111cc or the 116cc family. I have no complaints with any of them. They all have been wonderful bikes to own and ride. This bike has the perfect suspension! The ride is what I would describe as a "magic carpet". Rough surface roads are gobbled up effortlessly. Fuel mileage is steady between 45 and 49 MPG. Performance is outstanding for a bike of this size and weight. The bike draws looks and comments every place I go. Truly distinctly designed to ride into the future and protect it's past.

I put another 47K on it before a unexpected encounter with a deer totaled it. So I know what I was getting. My 2019 is a pleasant surprise with a notable increase in responsivness. I like the 3 selectible riding modes. It turns heads everywhere it goes. I couldn't be happier with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the Look - Miss the Classic Fairing This is my 4th Roadmaster. I love the aggressive modern look of this model, but after riding it daily for a few months I am missing the wind protection that I was accustomed to with the classic fairing. To be specific it's not wind over the fairing but under, coming by the tank and hitting me underneath my helmet. No combination of lower vent positions change this. I now am wearing goggles and thinking about a full face helmet. I love these bikes, but am having some buyers remorse to the point that I am thinking about trading out of it after just a few months. A few other let downs were: I had to buy the passenger pegs, and luggage rack as these were not included in stock like the other Roadmaster. Also the new style bags don't seem as solid as the previous ones. Everything else aside I like the aggressive look, and the 116 power is very nice!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic old-school look. Purchased in March 2017. First learned about Indian helping friend restore a '47 Chief 80ci. in 1973. Always wanted to own one - been a long time but the wait was well worth it!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic ride In 1957 I was a 17 year old with an old Indian, now 60 years later I am an old man with a new Indian...this one is far superior to the old one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bad A$$!! The performance of the DH is unmatched. Soooo fast, and handles corners like a dream. Maintenance costs are low and easy to do yourself. Polaris/Indian have HD beat in every category.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic machine Had it for almost two years and loving every ride.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Ride I bought the Darkhorse a few months ago and love it!! I've ridden several other brands of cruisers and not one feels as solid and comfortable as the Indian. I've made a few mods to suit me and even the Indian accessories rock!!
Date published: 2017-02-22
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredibly Happy Hands down best cruiser I have ever ridden. More power and better handling than my previous bikes (most of them Harleys). But the styling along with fit & finish turns this bike into a work of art as well. Always looking forward to my next ride!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Ride!! Bought 2016 Indian Dark Horse 2 moths ago. Traded my 2015 Fatboy Lo on it. No regrets, this bike has a great ride. Never going back. Now I know why HD's are called Iron Horses.
Date published: 2017-02-21
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ride I've had my bike for a few months now. It was my Christmas present to myself. It also was an increase in power from my previous bike. On the test drive, I really liked how it handled. CG is nice and low so it balances very nicely in all conditions. Still waiting (over a month) on the manufacturer to get back to me in regards to damage to the finish when I purchased it. I hope it's not a nightmare to get fixed because since then, I have found another damaged location and have yet to bring it to the attention of the dealer.
Date published: 2017-02-21

2019 Indian Springfield Dark Horse Thunder Black Smoke is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 134.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfy and stylish I rode the Springfield Dark Horse about twenty miles total at a demo day. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to handle and by the effortless power. I've ridden plenty of Harleys as well and the Indian is a better ride by far. The suspension soaked up bumps and the bike actually seems happy to go around corners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing motorcycle! That bike it’s just amazing. From comfortability to horse power, all numbers are way high. The bike is a silent monster. You feel like you pretty much own the road. It’s definitely a bike to enjoy the ride.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lots of Power! Great bike. Surprised by the power and handling of this bike. Not as hot as my 2016 Roadking. But, cant give it 5 stars as the paint choices are all pretty boring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and smooth First time riding an Indian and I was surprised how quick it got up and moved down the hiway.
Date published: 2019-03-29
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smooth and powerful. I love the smoothness of the engine. The seat height is very good. But the bike feels big and unwieldy at slow speeds - more so than my Harley Fat Boy Lo.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Balance good suspension style I thought about buying the DH Springfield but the cost and having to add a windshield and back rest changed my mind. Also the overall weight is a concern.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Kickin' Engine Had 16" apes on it along with a stage-2. Great ride, very smooth (either a pro or con). The apes didn't impede with handling at all either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bike...with some small drawbacks I have had my 2018 Indian Springfield Dark Horse for about 10 months now. I absolutely love the look of the flat black bike and feel it has the right touch of chrome. I'm a bigger guy so I like the overall size of this bike. Fit and finish are excellent. I love the touch of a powder coated frame. Very durable! Kudos for the remote lockable bags. Little annoyances - Tire pressure sensors seem to be an issue... they monitor low on initial startup. Turn bike off and on again and they read correctly (checked against manual gauge). Mine doesn't have different "modes" as it's an 18 model - however, an upgrade on the electronics would be nice Indian! That being said, if you're a short shifter, you'd love this but I feel like power plateaus at 3,000 RPM in first and second. Feels like you run out of steam at 2800 to 3000 RPM and you have to shift to get it moving. This may be addressed with the new "modes" but how about a retrofit for those of us early adopters with the 18 first year model DH?! Wish Indian would have done red dash lighting on the Springfield Dark Horse like they did on the Chief Dark Horse. This is just a "cool factor" thing. Overall this is a superb bike and it feels much lighter to ride than it really is. When you ride this and "feel" it, you really don't get the feel that you're on an 800 lb motorcycle. The engineers did a superb job on that front and honestly I love the suspension on this bike. It has a great amount of travel and makes for a comfortable ride. You will not "clench" up going over potholes, road cracks or railroad tracks. Big plus there! I'd love a little more comfort in the seat for when I'm riding for longer than 3 hours, but that's a normal, and universal, gripe from anyone that rides longer distances.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazingly Nimble for a heavy machine!! I purchased this bike in August of 2018 and I find myself looking outside everyday this winter to make sure it's not snowing so I can ride. The power is a constant strong pull, shifts smooth, throttle by wire is still a little querky for me but I'm sure I will adapt. I have owned 4 V-Twins including '53 Panhead, shovelhead, Evo and Twin Cam and was looking at the new bike of the competitor. Rode both and though it was difficult since I still love the others, but I can't say i ever regretted the decision to go with the Springfield Dark Horse. The handling is superb, It feels like it weighs 500 lbs not 800+! but when you are making tight turns at low speeds, you can feel it if you lean too far!!! so beware, it is heavy though it doesn't corner like it should it corners like a beast and is so smooth that I grin from ear to ear EVERY TIME I ride this bike!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Motorcycle I have owned Had this 2018 Indian Dark Horse for over 3 months now. I was hooked when I did a demo ride in May 2018. Not only is the look of the bike great, but it handles so well with the engine. I bought the smoked windscreen and black Freedom exhaust with stage 2 cams. I have had Harleys and I own two Victory's. This is now my favorite bike!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The new Indian The new Indian line is very impressive. The Indian Demo Truck came to Indian of Albuquerque last weekend. I rode the Chieftain, Roadmaster, and Springfield. All of the bikes perform well, very neutral handling, good lean angle, smooth ride. The 116 Chieftain was my favorite.
Date published: 2018-11-07
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Ride It was the first time I rode an Indian Motorcycle. The ride was comfortable and the engine responsive. The bike handled well. Personally I found the handle bar controls small and not well placed.
Date published: 2018-11-03
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this bike! If I had the money, I'd put one in the garage! The styling is spot on. The power and sound of the exhaust were great. I love the big Indian on the side of the tank. Don't know if it's available, but I'd love to see the black leather Indian bags with Indian conchos on the back. This would add to the Indian nostalgia.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Terrible The handlebars are terrible which translate to terrible handling. Also they are set too far out so if one decides to put on apes you better hope they have foot arms

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Machine I went for a demo ride and experienced a great 20 minutes plus on the Dark Horse Springfield. Handled great due to the exceptional balance and low COG. Most impressive was the power and acceleration in the higher gears.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great looking this would be my 3rd indian. I have Chieftain, Roadmaster and always loved the darkhorse.
Date published: 2018-09-08
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Loose It rode SMOOTH..... throttle was "sloppy", and the shifter lever took MILES to shift gears. The "Fly by wire" was disturbing..... Definitely powerful, compfy to ride. Never got it out of 4th gear. Low center of gravity. Steering was shakey….
Date published: 2018-09-07
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Marvelous Engineering!! The Ride, acceleration, handing/cornering and attractiveness of this bike makes it stand alone amongst all cruiser type motorcycles. A little pricey, but when you compare it to the Harley equivalent, then it hits a home run!! Thanks Indian!! Great engineering!!
Date published: 2018-08-26
Rated 5 out of 5 by from handling and styling Have owned three Indians so far, Roadmaster, Springfield, and Chieftan.Loved them all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mr. This bike handled well. Grips felt a little cheap, and the power was so-so mid way through the gears. Seat was tall for me, but is adjustable to my knowledge. I liked the controls once I got used to them. Would like to see a heel shift.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good ride I have a 2014 Chieftain. I like it very much. I do like the new display. Ride Command. But it totally looks different. Not a fan of the new look. Makes it look like a Harley. I rode a new Harley street glide CVO. Was not impressed. Like the Indian much better. I would like a better seat

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, not a fan of ape hangers. Enjoyed the ride, love almost all aspects of the bike except the one I rode had the optional raised bars which I did not care for. I actually went out and bought a 2014 chieftain the very next day.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 116 Kit is a WOW I own a 14 Chieftain. This new bike with the 116 kit was awesome! The power upgrade was more than I thought it would be. Great bike, high rise handle bars would take some getting used to and the touch screen SAT/NAV is pretty nice too. I still prefer the classic styling of mine but this was a great bike.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing Handling Machine I rode this bike during a demo day. I currently own a 2018 Harley Street Glide Special. The Indian impressed me with the suspension and handling. It ate up road bumps that would have jarred me on my Harley. The brakes were way better as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from stage 2 upgrade I already own a 2019 Indian Roadmaster which i love and wanted to test ride a bike with either a stage 2 or 3 to see what i am going to choose as an upgrade.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The power delivery and comfort is amazing. This is my upgrade for sure. My wife and I got to check it out today and it's more than I could ever want. Such an amazing ride. The power delivery was perfect and so comfortable through the corners and over the bumps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun Bike! First time riding a bike of this size and I must say that the features of this bike make it so EASY to handle/ride. Low center of gravity, powerful, and smooth. Wasn't really thinking about upgrading my Scout (cause I love it) but riding this bike was a blast!

Date published: 2019-07-27
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chieftain Dark Horse 116 big bore kit The test ride was amazing! That 116 big bore kit had so much power! The different modes of riding were really cool too! The only thing I think they should do when putting the riders together is maybe have the less experienced ones in the back. Some of those guys clearly had not rode in a group before and had no idea what a staggered formation was. Some of them were all over the place.
Date published: 2019-07-26
Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome power I just attended the Indian motorcycle Demo ride in my area and chose the Chieftain Dark Horse. I was amazed by the power and throttle response especially in Sport mode.I took the bike through some twisty's and the handling was great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Bike!! This bike is AWESOME front top to bottom. Every feature you can imagine, great power, great ride, AND it is the most comfortable bike I have ever owned. I usually have two street bikes at any one time, but my Roadmaster Indian checks all the boxes. No need for anything else!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVE MY BIKE!! First time on an Indian and all I can say is WOW! I love the features the controls and my wife loves the passenger seat. Now what makes this Indian Roadmaster spectacular you ask?? Well its when this Indian is riding his Indian motorcycle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the Roadmaster The Roadmaster replaced a Victory Vision, which I loved, but wanted newer features. The handling and power are excellent - both improvements - and the technology package is amazing. I didn't think the keyless feature would be a big deal, but now I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top notch touring ride This is my 2nd Roadmaster. The first was a 2017 model I bought used with 18K on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultimate Touring This motorcycle is the best touring bike you can purchase today. Honda Goldwing is nice but no longer allows you to secure helmets in the trunk. BMW has recall after recall and Harley hasn’t done anything significant in years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ride Best riding And comfortable bike by far. Lots of storage room and still balanced and the few of a much smaller bike. Customer service has gone out of their way to answer any questions I may have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big fat luxury. This is one magnificent bike. Everything about this bike from the pipes to the infotainment system is really dialed in. I have one gripe. This thing should come with the rider’s back rest. It completely transforms the bike. I can see 20k miles/year going on this bike easy with the addition of the backrest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Cruiser I have always liked the vintage look of Indian cruisers going back to the 50s and 60s. I have been impressed with the ride, modern electronics, and the performance. I am very happy that I have waited to purchase a motorcycle built with Polaris’s expertise and attention to detail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best of the Best This is my second Indian Roadmaster. My first was a 2016 that I put over 38,000 miles on. I traded it in on a 2019 Roadmaster in February this year, and even though I didn't think Indian could build a better bike, they did. From the touch screen, improved stereo system and optimized handlebar controls, to the single cylinder shut off and improved air flow, making it a much cooler ride, Indian has hit another home run with this luxury cruiser. I have yet to find another motorcycle that came close to the quality and performance of this bike. I am a lifelong Indian rider!
