2019 Indian Scout Sixty Thunder Black is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 380.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from First bike ever, awesome I bought this motorcycle in mid February of this year, 2020. So far, it's been an amazing experience. Certain things I would change is add a windscreen, like the Dart Marlin to keep the wind from blasting your stomach and chest. Another would be the seat, switch it out to something more comfortable if you plan on riding for any extended period. The clutch is very forgiving for new riders. It's fairly lightweight, low to the ground and quite balanced. It doesn't take much for a new rider to become confident in their ability to keep it upright at stops. I'm 5' 10" and I not only flat foot, but my knees have quite a bend when my feet are on the ground. The bike seems to be well made. Keep in mind that the Scout Sixty will NOT come with a USB charger, but the speedometer DOES have a place to place it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow is all I have to say Purchased my Indian Scout 60 a week & a half ago. I have not ridden a bike regularly for 30 years (and back then it was motocross bikes). I sat on this bike in the showroom, no test ride prior to purchase, but I knew it felt just right. I am LOVING this bike, easy to ride, smooth, lots of power and runs like a dream. Thank you Peak Powersports, Oakville Ontario Canada.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really REALLY nice bike My second bike. Rode a Kawasaki 500 for 8 years, wanted a "bigger" bike. Wrestled with all the options, settled on the 60. I love it. Its fast, its nimble, it's not a "girls bike" or a "starter bike". This is a legit cruiser. I have gotten so many compliments on its looks. It is an absolute blast to ride. Super quick but balanced. If you're considering one, get one!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great cruiser Bought my scout 60 back in Sep. and have almost 6000 mi on it so far. I wanted a bike WITHOUT all the modern junk on it (traction control, ride modes, etc). I wanted something like my 1974 Norton Commando. That also only had the basics. This is a wonderful place to start for customizing a bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love my Indian I love, love, love this bike, quick acceleration, turns on a dime, no two inch heels required. Some reviews indicate this is a great beginner bike and because of the quick throttle I would have to disagree, but, if you have some experience riding or know to be careful off the line I say go for it. I love the simplicity and the look of the bike. no fussy features, idiot light for gas a bike without too much instrumentation which I love. The only two negatives are, the seat is not comfortable for long distance riding and the kick stand does not swing out far enough to make me feel confident on any downhill grade. Both these issues are easily fixed. I would recommend this bike for any height challenged people who want a retro looking bike which gets lots of compliments.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I Made A Mistake After owning the bike for a month, here's what I have: Won't start after a couple days of sitting in the garage. That battery tirelessly cranks but the engine just won't kick over. When I release the start button it keeps cranking as if I were still holding the start button. Then after about a dozen attempts it will start. How aggravating! The dealer isn't sure what is causing that issue. The speedometer drops to 40mph and uses that as my "zero." So I don't know my speed. And the deal killer: excessive engine heat. I owned a V-Rod that would heat up significantly at stop lights. But this bike is worse. I have never sweated through my pants from a motorcycle. Not even the V-Rod. The heat from this bike is unbearable. I never noticed it during break-in because I drove out in the country with very few stops. Once I started riding in the city the heat issues began. I got rid of the V-Rod for this issue and will do the same with the Scout Sixty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great look and feel. Features to make it perfect. I bought my 60 about thirty days of bad weather ago. I haven't broken five hundred miles yet, so the jury's almost back in, but all indications are this is the absolute perfect ride for me. I like the simple look. I don't believe chrome everywhere is the right look for all bikes, least of all this one. The dark wheels and motor set off the old-school red tank and fenders beautifully. The custom features distinguish my ride from its brothers. And I haven't found anything that I want to outrun, but can't.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from True to the original. As an older, lighter guy who hasn't ridden much in 30 years, I wasn't sure. I did the research, watched the youtube videos, read everything on the net. Been looking at the Scout and competitors for the best all around bike. My grandfather bought a new Scout and rode it from Michigan to L.A. in 1914, a hundred year legacy ride sounded better and better. I got the last Indian Red 2016 Scout from Smokin' Joe's in Caledonia, MI, .99 percent interest? Couldn't pass it up. Flat out Best thing I've ever purchased in my life! I was first ride nervous, 2 trips around Joe's and I hit the road. 10 miles, felt good, 20 and I felt safe to do rush hour in the city. By the end of the night, I had taken it on dirt, loose sand and rode 'til I was cold and sore. Next, wintery mix on smooth pavement, plenty of rain and sleet. Gently slid her sideways with both brakes locked, no issues! I feel near 100% after 100 miles. Incredible. My Harley friends told me immediately that it was small, I'd want a bigger bike. Maybe someday. It's called a Scout for a reason, while the cushy "half cars" are headed for a destination, you're already there finding a place to eat, drink and crash for the night. She acts like a mid to light cruiser but I can throw her around like a dirt bike. The factory windshield is perfect, just enough wind in your teeth. She's got that rattle like an American V - twin but the sexy sound of a Euro bike, water cooling makes this happen and makes her durable. You can imagine all the Scout riders in the past having exactly the same feeling, all I want now are mid pegs so I can stand up! She looks like a custom straight from the showroom. You go out at night and sit on her in the garage. This bike is the cure for everything, a permanent grin that won't go away. Go ahead and buy a bigger bike if you have to have one, everybody else, do yourself a favor, buy this girl! And then there's the way Indian throws free parties at Sturgis and plenty of other places, can't wait.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect bike! This bike is awesome, the handling and ride are great! I used to own a sportster 1200 which seemed really top heavy, the scout feels light as a feather! Love the low seat, the big front tire and the black one that I have looks tough! And it has power!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from i switched from a Honda I have had a Honda for sixteen years and liked it. I tried a Harley and hated it. I bought the Indian scout sixty about a month ago and I love to ride it. The scout handles very well and is easy to ride and is very comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE the bike, BUT So I purchased my bike on the last day of 2019. It was actually my very first bike purchase and I had done my homework. I was wanting to go Harley at first but realized it was going to be out of the budget, so when I came across the Indian I realized that this was going to be the route to go, especially since I heard they had a good reputation. Most of the deal was done over the phone and texts with my sales rep. He serviced me well and answered all my questions. Once they told me I was approved I went to the store to pick it up and I fell in love instantly. The bike rides great, even beyond my expectations. I do know that I was paying more then I should and I felt like they could have given me a better deal, but I was so happy with the bike that I was alright with paying more. I did have a pleasant surprise when they gave me a $500 dollar credit when they found out that I was a veteran. So with that credit I ended up getting a passenger seat, helmet and gloves. However, when I was shopping for these accessories, I started noticing that their gear was incredibly overpriced, almost ridiculously over priced, but again, I didn’t complain because they gave me the credit. The one thing that annoyed me though was that the rep had told me that my first tune up and oil change at 500 miles was FREE. When I hit those miles, I called service to set it up and they wanted to charge me almost $400 bucks. Needless to say I wasn’t happy about it at all, in fact I made it a point to explain to them that the sales rep had told me this. They then proceeded to tell me that they couldn’t honor that. So, I ended up taking it to a very reputable bike shop in San Bernardino where they charged me only $150. It kind of left a bad taste in my mouth because I do business with people on how they treat me. I am a man of my word and expect the same in return when they tell me something. It also made me wonder how the dealership can charge $400 bucks for service but then get the same service some place else for way cheaper. I know dealerships are all about making as much money as possible, but they should also not try to gouge people when servicing or selling parts. People will notice and go elsewhere for those kind of things. I have actually been ordering after market parts on line due to the fact that the dealership is overpriced. With that being said, I am not unhappy with the purchase. The bike is my new love and I am truly happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bike under $10k by far You will not be disappointed in this bike. I’ve ridden mine little over 6k miles in the first year and absolutely love it. Just throw some after market slip-ons if you don’t want it to sound like a sewing machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice quality It's a nice midsize bike, easy to handle. Not too big not too small. Has a great one of a kind feel compared to all the basic bikes you see. I would recommend loader pipes, stocks are to quite for me

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome First Bike! I am the QUEEN of the road! I've been a proud Indian owner now for 4 months and I absolutely love my new Scout Sixty. I've had ZERO problems with it and I can keep up with my Dad on his HD Road King going 80mph. Just broke the 1200 mile mark on my bike and am super pumped for my big road trip to Ohio from FL. The only negative thing I have to say is I wish the leather saddle bags could fit more stuff. They are super stylish and I love them, but it stinks that it's hard to squeeze things in there on extended rides.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent bike! I bought my Scout Sixty originally intending to just teach myself how to street ride, and eventually trade up. Now I do not see myself ever trading or selling my Scout Sixty. It was the perfect bike to teach myself on, it is BEAUTIFUL, easy to handle, and comfortable even for long rides. As a very short individual (5'0") riding was a little intimidating when I test rode Harley Sportser and Dyna models. On my Scout I have perfect confidence riding, even without any reduced reach parts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong performer in its class Demo ride of Scout60 was impressive. Simple, straightforward, strong torque, easy to handle and fun! Perfect for around town and 100 mile rides, great look too. I was also impressed with the tightness of the engine...smooth, throaty but quiet sound. Personally I like it much better than Sportster. Ergos, lack of windscreen and bags make other models a better choice for long rides, but for its class its a real winner. Great value too. I imagine it will run forever. Nice job Indian!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good throttle response For the size of the engine, it had good throttle response. The seat was a bit tough on my tail bone, but then I am 58 an dI have a bad back, so take it with a grain of salt.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from In love I love my bike, it's a classic. My style is reflective of Audrey Hepburn, and I wanted a bike that has great performance and still looks good ten years from today. So far the bike has performed smoothly. This is my first bike I have owned. I receive compliments every where I go. Man and women... about the bike of course. ;) This is a great bike, I am looking forward to getting past that 500 mile marker to open her up a little more. The only reason I didn't give a five star review... the speedometer and exhaust. There was some lazy designing go on there. I would have gone with the matte black or smoke color and upgraded the bike... but the speedometer didn't match the bike. They are all the same no matter the color of the bike. I think that is lazy and you should have a flawless design within every detail. The super red was on my list too, but the speedometer was not the same red. The exhaust is kind of wimpy sounding... sounds like a electric bike there is a hum and not a growl. I will be swamping out the exhaust.

Indian Scout
Starting at $11,499 US MSRP
2019 Indian Scout Indian Motorcycle Red / Thunder Black (ABS) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 940.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth ride/great look I purchased this bike because I always wanted one as a kid. I was surprised by the smoothness of the ride, the stability of the bike and it's overall appearance. I added the mini hangers to fit my reach and the pan seat for bobber look and distance comfort. I love sport/cruiser styles and this one fit the bill. "did I mention smooth ride" lol... It has enough power for the ride experience I desire; and then some! This is the 69 inch/ 100hp. I say; if this is the bike you are looking at spend the little extra for the upgrade from 60 inch; it is well worth it. I test rode both 60 and 69 and the difference is proof of which way to go. Satisfied! And the 45' Indian Red is stunning. A beautiful bike all around! It also has enough options available to personalize just the way you feel about riding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bike but needs More accessories I bought the bike about six months ago and have put about 2500 miles on it. I rode it to Sturgis for the rally and it performed wonderfully on the road and at high speeds. My only complaint is the lack of accessories for the Scout. In particular, I need floorboards and cruise control for riding on the highway. There is very little available for the Scout through Indian and also not much in the aftermarket. More accessories need to be available and it would be helpful if they didn't cost a fortune like most of the Indian accessories do. Overall, I am very happy with the bike.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun ride. Smooth ride and responsive handling. Accelerates very well. Looks and sounds great. The only issues that I have had are that the clutch lever seems to stay loose and rattles quite a bit. From the factory, the clips on the rear brakes were bent and caused a screeching sound when I backed the bike up--this has since been fixed. My instrument gauge had water leak into it during a hard rain--Indian has replaced it. Though, they were not able to reset the odometer to the correct mileage. All in all it's been a great bike and I'd recommend it for hopping around town and commuting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth shifting gobs of torque! I've owned many bikes and makes in my life, and the scout is the first bike I rode that made me shelf everything else. It is quality built and runs tight and powerful, always plenty of torque to pull away in any gear! smooth shifting and plenty of power! the low seat height and light weight make the bike a dream to ride. I will ride nothing else!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from nice bike but could be better Have only put a few hundred miles on my bike so far, it handles really well, seat is not very comfortable, after only 20 to 30 minutes of riding my back and butt are suffering. Power is very good, not much sound from factory pipes and they could probably look a little better but I do get a lot of compliments on how the bike looks. Throttle spring is to hard, it's like a battle against the spring to keep the throttle open, if you relax too much you will be slowing down. Lots of cool accessories but they are over priced

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and light I have own my Scout for 6 months. I changed a few things. Installed a chief fender, solo seat and fish tail exhaust. Small wind shield for high speeds. and a concho for that blank space. It gets lots of attention. And a picture of my custom wall of death bike. The front fender from my bike is the rear fender for the WOD bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great upgrade on seat. Suspension. Had a blast. Been training on a Harley sportster 1200 and the difference is night and day. I appreciate Harley’s “clunk” of the shifter, rattle of the engine, but the Indian shines on the suspension and smooth ride.10 times better than the sportsters including the iron 883. the scout had great throttle response, and nice upgrade on the new seats. stylistically it always wins but I also enjoyed the dash display. Visiting the demo truck at Ukes Harley at the end of the month to get another feel for what I’m buying next year, but right now it’s Indian. Appreciate the demo.r

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun Its not a perfect motorcycle, but there most likely is no such thing. It is fun powerful and with a few factory corrections quite possibly the most fun bike to ride and own in a long time. The Scout might just be the best blending of the old and the new working in a pleasing yet functional harmony. I have been asked what year is it and yet have tossed it into corners that modern day sport bikes would seem better suited to attack. My overall impression is what a fun motorcycle to ride and for me that is why I choose to through a leg over a motorcycle in the first place.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Terrific style & value I bought my Scout to downsize from a Victory Vision Tour (thinking my long distance touring bug had passed). Its power & agility won me over. I enjoy its style & light weight. The finish is excellent & it's outfitted with bags & will probably take me on yet another cross-country trip in the next season (the bug came back). I'm not as happy with the standard shocks which are pretty brutal, & I switched to a Mustang seat. The price of Indian gear is high; I hope that comes down over the next while. My 2015 does not have ABS which I feel should be standard on all bikes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Indian Scout My husband and I purchased this bike for me just a month ago and I have already put almost 1,000 miles on it. It rides great if just tooling around in the city and also on long trips. The only thing I would change is that it would have a wider turning radius. I am pleased with this bike and would recommend it to anyone who is looking at one as a possibility for their own. Not only does it ride great, and the weight is balanced exceptionally well, but it is great for cruising as well as enough power to MOVE!! I can outrun my husband's Harley with no problems!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Indian Scout Thunder Black The Indian Scout is a beautiful piece of machinery. Its sleek looks, smooth sounds, and impeccable handling make this an ideal bike for riding both short and long distances. The bike is afforded some great features, and additional accessories do nothing but enhance the bike-owner's experience. A second seat is the perfect addition to the Indian Scout, for multiple rider experience. The Indian Scout is both agile and powerful, perfectly balanced in all aspects. If you are in the market or thinking about purchasing a motorcycle, look no further than the Indian Scout.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scout sets the standard for mid-size cruiser Just picked up my new Scout after getting on one at a Demo Days riding event. Even with three other bikes in the stable, it was clear from the first throttle roll that this would be next. The pep is surprising, even knowing the specs on paper. Handling blows my Sporty away. Already a magnet for interested folks, the paint scheme is great (Indian has come a long way there). With this and the RM, there really isn't any need for anything else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from In Love, Again!!! I have been riding for 35 years, was a MSF Instructor/Rider Coach for 25 years, and owner of Motorcycling Enterprises, Inc. SafeRider School in Wisconsin for 17 years. Have owned and ridden all different brands and styles of motorcycles; have logged over half-million motorcycle miles. I am 5'5" tall, 75 y.o., had lower back surgery 3 years ago. Due to my age and surgery, I have sustained a great loss of muscle strength. I down-sized from my H-D Ultra to a H-D Heritage Softail. I rode an Indian Scout at my husbands insistance and fell in love. 220#'s lighter than my Heritage, great road clearance, ABS, beautiful, nimble and easy to handle, loves those curves, what more could a grown girl want!!! Youbetcha, I'm in love, again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Bike I bought this February 2015, I now have over 36,000 miles and can't wait for riding season to start again. This bike is quick and take me anywhere I want to go... Day trips up to 700 miles to taking 2000 mile trips.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Almost There I liked the good power to weight of the scout. it looks really good, and uses 'updated' tech like water cooling and ride by wire. Feels fairly powerful and sturdy. It's an Indian! Tank shape is rad. Do not like the feet forward position, and the seat is only OK. The backrest spool mounts are a terrible design and obtrusive without the backrest. Would prefer this motor and transmission in a more standard chassis.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Indian Scout = Stylish power I bought a 2016 Scout about 2 months ago and have put about 800 miles on it. I traded in a factory lowered 2007 BMW F800ST at the time of purchase. I am a 5'5" tall woman. While I loved the F800ST, I am indeed on the short side - even for the factory lowered version. How do I love my Scout? Let me count the ways! It is gorgeous and I fit perfectly on it. I did get reduced reach bars and seat. The ride is powerful and solid. Many of the 800 miles are highway miles - and I felt very solid on the highway. This bike is so easy to handle. You cannot beat the power to weight ratio on a cruiser. Yes, quite a different ride than my wonderful F800. But equally good in it's own way and better than the BMW for fit. Way to go Indian!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What motorcycling should be about! I bought the bike about a month ago after a few years removed from riding. The Scout caught my eye due to its retro/vintage look. I was given the opportunity to do a test ride at the dealer and I knew it was a bike for me. I previously rode a sportsbike and wanted a cruiser position bike without the big stuffy cruiser look or feel. The Scout certainly fits the bill. The bike is nimble, quick and sporty yet feels well built. I am 6'1 and 230 yet the bike feels roomy and comfortable. The Scout is what motorcycling should be all about... simple and fun. It does however, have some minor imperfections like any other bike. Though the tranny is smooth, second can be a bit sticky. The rear tire at times feels a bit thin and the suspension is stiff. Also the mirrors could use help. If you are in the market for a new bike, you definetely should test ride one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Because it's an Indian! I haven't ridden a motorcycle in 37 years and decided it was time to ride again. When I looked at the Indian models I was sold on their style. I did a lot of research before I bought one and they got rave reviews. There are a lot of v-twins out there, most of them are from one manufacturer, I wanted to be a little different and not have the same bike as everyone else. I get a lot of complements on my bike and would buy another Indian.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from celebrity bike! I've owned my scout since 2015. I bought a first run bike and am glad I did! It looked awesome on the web and in the video reviews so I immediately put in my order. When the bike arrived it was everything it claimed to be. It handles like a sport bike and a cruiser all in one. Tons of power and great lean angle. I'm the only guy in the city with a scout, that I can tell. I don't see any others because there's no dealer in British Columbia. This makes me a celebrity. Everywhere I go I get compliments and when I have it parked and return to the bike there's often people standing by it checking it out. They always want to talk about it. I think I should carry autographed photos in the awesome leather bags to give out to my fans. LOL.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bike..easy off, easy on! I rode a Scout and a Scout Bobber at recent Demo Days In Charleston illinois. It was a really nice riding experience. I first rode the Bobber and was not comfortable on it at all. But I really liked the ease of the way it shifted. So, I next rode the Scout. I was much more comfortable on it and l enjoyed the ride a lot. The experience was a good one for me even though I am not sure the Scout is the right bike for me at this time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mistake I brought this in September and had problems from day one. Repairs take a long time because parts were difficult to get on the. New bike because they don't have any supply at on hand

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice ride with improvments Overall I have enjoyed this motorcycle however the suspension needs work as in stiffer fork springs and improved shocks. After upgrading the suspension I am enjoying the bike

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Its good ITS VERY GOOD, It is my daily rider, I needed a bike to ride when working on my old built out H-D sportster. I looked at the new H-D bikes and saw nothing worth buying, their new engine is a joke. When I started riding the Indian I was impressed by the power and smooth handling.I love to take it out and run the roads in the Kettle Moraine area near me (curvy very curvy.) All and all really nice. Doing this stuff for 52 years from dragsters to flat track, your motorcycle runs with the best I have had over the years. Had to change out the pipes. Scott

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely best bike ever! I have owned this bike for one year and have absolutely no complaints. Polaris has done an excellent job of engineering and producing a very high quality product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Issues with the bike, seat is uncomfortable for long rides. After about an hour and a half my butt falls asleep or starts to hurt. I spend time shifting my weight around to try and get comfortable. Turning radius is not very good. Flashers should show that you are turning right or left. They just blink both ways now. I wish that the exhaust was deeper and a little louder. I think this can be accomplished if I purchase different pipes, but it should come standard on the bike. When I have a rider on the bike, I can feel every bump through the seat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Motorcycle!!! I bought my scout just before the 4th of July and man was it worth it!! Though the accessories are a bit pricey they were worth it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Won't start I have right around 2000 miles on my brand new scout and its been at the shop for 3 weeks because it wont start. Im a little ticked off, I bought a new bike so I wouldn't have problems and now Im paying for one I cant ride.

2019 Indian Scout Bobber Thunder Black is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 253.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Instant Thrills! Traded my 17 Scout for my Thunder Black Bobber. Low center of gravity makes it great for handling in any condition. So much fun and instant response as you rip through the gears, and when you come to a stop light, just look around you as people stare and give you the thumbs up. Only downside is short suspension travel which you will feel in the seat, but on a bike that is this much fun for the money...who cares! Get some!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeds expectations For years I’ve been looking at buying an Indian instead of Harley. Aside from being designed beautifully, I also knew they were more dependable. I finally pulled the trigger on buying the scout almost 2 months ago, and I couldn’t be happier. It far exceeds all expectations, and my expectations were already pretty high. It’s beautiful, rides well, feels safe, and best of all.. it turns every head I pass. Thanks Indian!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome bike! Bought this for my wife over a month ago. She loves it. We had to order the reduced reach foot controls due to her short height but they work great. This bike looks amazing and has a ton of power. A couple points to note: If you are shorter than 5’5” in height, you will want to buy an aftermarket heat shield for the upper exhaust pipe or it will burn your leg. This is an easy fix. Overall and amazing bike!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Long Reach LOVED this bike! Engine power was very smooth and predictable, gears changed very crisp, excellent clutch too! I didn't like how far forward the handlebars were, and I would have liked an analog RPM gauge. Cruise control needs to start becoming standard, especially if using throttle by wire. I also wish there was a Ivory Cream/Vintage Green version of the bobber, or perhaps some other vintage/faded color schemes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my Bobber Bought the 2018 bobber in Indian Red in September. I have about 1000 miles on it, so I think I have enough experience to give a thorough review. The bikes handles amazing, the power is everything you would need. Off the line this bike gets some. The only small things I will be upgrading before long are the Seat, which is uncomfortable after about 20 mi. And the mufflers which I think make the bike too quiet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Terrible seating position Feet forward, back arched. Way too uncomfortable for a bike with this incredibly fast engine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best of the Indian lineup! My father in law has a scout and I have been lucky enough to try it for myself along with some demo rides during Daytona bike week. The bobber is my style for sure with the blacked out panels, cut fender, LED headlight and bar end mirrors. It’s surprisingly quick with lots of torque and incredibly comfortable. Had I not just bought 2 new bikes recently I would be adding the bobber to the garage today!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good looking bike. I love the bike but the paint is terribly fragile. Low dust across it and it scratches. Also apparently the speedometer glass isn’t glass. It’s plastic. Haha this also scratches very easily. Those are my only complaints but real unfortunate ones. I can’t think of a bike that’s my my style. Improve the paint and make the speedo glass and I’d be happier and it would be a five star.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My 2019 Scout Bobber I have had this for two months now and have been very happy with it the only down fall other than everything being so expensive for it is. The seat takes a little getting used to and the exhaust could definitely be louder. I know that all those can be up graded but that takes me to the expensive part. Other that I would definitely suggest that anyone in the market should get one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loved it! I rode this bike at a demo at the local motorcycle shop. I loved riding it! I’m a too small to sit back in the seat and still be able to read the pedals and handlebars. I asked about the seat options for the bobber and was dismayed that the stock seat is the only seat available for the motorcycle. I would be willing to purchase this bike if it had more seat options!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast, good looking, and agile machine I owned Harleys for years and there is no Harley on the market that has the HP like my Scout Bobber. With the upgraded stage 1 kit and the two into one Indian exhuast. This bike is an Harley Davidson killer. I'm well over 100 HP now and the bike is 150 pounds ighter than most HDs on the market. For those engineers out there just do the math and you will understand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So good! I did an Indian demo day at my local motorcycle dealer and tried the Scout Bobber. The ride was awesome, the bike has really smooth power deliver without being slow. The ride position was very comfortable, the seat was a little hard for my taste. Overall the bike just made me feel bad and was really fun to ride. This is coming from a sport bike owner as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Like looks of all new indians, Polaris doing a nice job. I test rode scout and scout bobber, nice bikes but foot controls need forward option. I think anyone over 5' 10 it's probably a bit small and uncomfortable. Definitely need pipes. Can't say I would recommend someone to buy over a less expensive Harley, but I would recommend one to consider.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome motorcycle From the sweet look to the awesome horsepower, this bike is amazing I love it. This thing will get you down the road and quick if you want. It sounds pretty darn good with and exhaust. My only complaint is the seat. Other than that Indian did an amazing job on this bike. I love the motor design and the blacked out look best bike I have ever owned!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome bike! I bought it a month ago and I get complements everyday. People on the road make gestures of approval. Some people at random places get closer to check it out and some are surprised they still make them. I get complements even from Harley owners and sport bike owners, but the best part is, It drives as good as it looks. I’m in love with my bobber.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well-rounded machine I rode the bobber today. The 6 speed gearbox was smooth shifting and the suspension was better than my 48. It is not a big enough difference to pull me away from my 48 that I have customized, however, someone comparing the 2 machines side by side would likely chose the bobber. I did draw the pegs around the turns, but do the same on my 48.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Cafe Feel I’m a sport bike rider and I wanted to try out a cruiser bike. The scout bobber was a refined spartan. It doesn’t have much of the electronics as the other cruiser such as a radio, etc, but that’s good if you’re looking for a more purist feel. The bobber is easy to maneuver and the ride is plush and light. I enjoyed the experience.
Date published: 2019-03-29
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the chopped look! This is a great bike for cruising. Usable torque that doesn’t require you to break the law to enjoy it opposed to the sport bike I’m coming from. Love the styling of this bike and a like of cool mods you can do to it. It’s a perfect size bike - not too big but not too small. Hope Indian will continue to keep the bobber line around.
Date published: 2019-06-02
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall a good package Just as expected on a prior ride with a normal Scout, I feel the Scout brakes are under powered and require a huge effort to apply (front), compared to my Ducati’s. Power was good, handling was good. All around a good bike! Only two knocks are the brakes and lack of “technology” for a 2018 bike (cruise, display info, fuel info etc...)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best looking bike you can buy!!!! I bought this bike in July, I been looking at this bike for well over a year now finally pulled the trigger and absolutely thrilled, has tons of power. I get tons of compliments. I’m not into to big bikes so this is perfect for me. I even got pulled over by a police officer and all he talked about was how gorgeous my bike is...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super fun and powerful ride Test rode this today, and its very different than my two bikes - and not in a bad way. It was fun to see how it handled. Super powerful off of the line. Things I loved: - power (low and higher end) - mirrors (were on the ends of the handlebards and were really accurate when I got them pointed in the right spot) - Aesthetic - its absolutely gorgeous Things I didn't love as much: - 1st to neutral or downshifting - it would go into neutral when I didn't want to, and when I was at a full stop it was difficult getting it from 1st to neutral just wasn't happening. - shocks were too stiff. I felt every bump in the road. was a bit jarring - something that I would adjust is to move the pegs back closer to me, as well as the handlebars Was super fun to try. Still leaning towards the Bonneville, but loved this as another option once I can talk to someone a bit more about modifcations that would make it a smoother ride on the country roads that I ride on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2020 Scout Bobber What an awesome bike. I was surprised how the comfortable the bike felt even though it looks large (I'm 5' 6"). Lots of power and smooth all around. Shifting was easy with the gear indicator. Controls were a little uncomfortable due to the far front positioning. Nothing that a reducer won't take care of. Overall...great bike.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Scout bobber Bike has an appealing look but needs a better exhaust tone and better tachometer. The engine vibrates more than my Harley twin cam 103, at 5000 rpm it felt like the motor was going to come apart.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super fun ride Rode bobber on demo day. I own a Scout Sixty, and the additional power was great. Also enjoyed the change in riding position, but would not suit short touring like I do. Noticed a Lot of vibration from stock grips, and would change stock seat. Heats up quick on stops and starts. Overall I really enjoyed it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing bike for the price I recently purchased the scout bobber. Perfect for new riders or riders with decades of experience. This bike gets a lot of good attention from beginners and mature riders. It is perfect for daily driving and 200+ mile days. I would not hesitate buying this bike again. I have no complaints.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun to ride. Great transition from sport bikes. I had the pleasure of participating in a demo day and my first ride was on a bronze Bobber. The handling and engine were quite good and the stage 1 kit made it even better. The seat was a bit uncomfortable but that’s an easy fix. The riding position is more aggressive but that means more pressure on your hands. The standard scout bars or mini apes would make it better. The clutch or transmission were a little out of sorts though. I had a hard time getting it into neutral and at one point tried do downshift from 2 to 1 leading into a slow turn. The gear didn’t take and I ended up stalling it. it may have just needed adjustment because no one else on the Bobber had that problem. This is a great transition bike for those of us used to sport bikes and looking to get into cruisers. The 6 speed is pretty smooth and the high revs provide a very familiar ride. It doesn’t lack power at any speed and feels very nimble. I had a blast today and am now weighing the Scout Bobber against the Chief Dark Horse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First and most likely the only bike I’ll ever need Not really huge on reviews and may sound a bit too one sided but wow can’t help but feel I made one of the best decisions in my life. Wasent too big into bikes for the most part since I never really saw any that appealed to me. Had a friend talk so much about her interest in one that it peaked my curiosity to see if there’s anything I’d even consider and sure enough the images of the scout bobber popped up and it was pretty much love at first sight. Looked perfect to me that I’d prefer cruiser style over the crotch rocket sport bikes and it wasent a Harley. Looked up everything about it for months and decided on a goal to have one by the end of the year. Something I will add that is a must to change the exhaust since I’d say is the only Eyesore to it. Asked about that before I went ahead with pre approval on the bike. Other then that I’m around 1100 miles as of this writing and owned it for little over a month. Been riding every single day and looking to make some small trips around the state soon.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Ride! I bought my bike about a month and a half ago. I absolutely love it and it’s fun to ride. Plenty of power and easy to control. The seat could have a little more padding, not a major issue as there are alternatives. The only reason I can not give it 5 stars, is a lack of a gas gauge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful bike with some Bald Eagles Put right under 1500 miles on the bike in just over a month and I’m loving every mile so far, this thing is a blast to ride nothing but you and the road. With just slip ons you can turn this little docile chick to a screaming eagle that’ll eat your breakfast and cr*p out freedom.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sits Low I have been riding only about 2 months and have become used to it. It sits awful low for my 6' body. My knees hurt because they are bent but not sure if other motorcycles would produce the same thing. The Bobber rides easy and is fun to ride around the roads near the ocean.

2019 Indian Chief Vintage Thunder Black is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 571.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best we have ever owned!! We bought a 2015 Vintage in July 2015. We have owned Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda, and have ridden Harleys regularly for 40 years. The Indian is in a class by itself. We tell everyone " it's like riding the Cadillac of motorcyles." The ride is so smooth you feel like you and the bike are part of the road. The Vintage is a larger bike but it handles as well if not better the the smaller classes. My husband and I are now planning our retirement around riding this bike around the country.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overly well-behaved Test rode this at the Long Beach show, and it's the first bike of this size I've ridden. Shifting was smooth and quiet, the ride was supple, and the power was more than adequate. I rode with a passenger, and she really liked the backrest and thick sidebars. This bike is just short of being twice as heavy as my current bike, but the balance was fantastic. And of course, the styling was exactly what I was after. My only complaint is that this bike was almost TOO refined. Shifting seems too smooth, and the pipes were too quiet (I know that can be changed). Floorboards had my feet in a different position than my other bikes, but it didn't interfere with shifting, which was always something I had wondered about. All in all, a fine machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Impressive Upgrade I upraded from my Scout to a Vintage for a bigger, more comfortable bike for 2 of us. We fell in love with the Vintage when we took the factory test ride demo at my local dealer. After that ride it was just a matter of time to finally decide. When the right bike in the right color showed up at Motorcity Indian, I pulled the trigger!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smartest move we've made in a long time We bought our Indian Motorcycle in Sturgis in August of 2015. We love it. It really draws attention. So glad we pulled the trigger on it. We have waited a lot of years, 25 to be exact, to own this dream. Got a Harley and a few other bikes, but they in no way compare to this magnificent machine. The power this machine is capable of is astounding and very much appreciated. Changed the exhaust pipes, should have just bought them when we bought the bike, but you live and learn. It is stylish and retro all at the same time and the Willow Green and Cream top off the beauty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A real head turner! This is my 9th motorcycle. The first being an Indian ME125. This is by far the most comfortable, well handling motorcycle I've ever owned, including my Harley Ultra Glide! I've met so many people since buying my Vintage, because everywhere you go someone comes up and starts a conversation about the bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ride! Style, function, power, comfort all combine flawlessly. I love this motorcycle, the windscreen design keeps the wind off me and it handles even better with it on than off. I stay warmer and as a result my riding season has been extended greatly. Buying this is one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Rode a Road King, then I bought my Indian I was dead set on getting a Harley. I had been stalking the dealership, checking out packages and accessories. My wife told me to check out Indian and I laughed at her, "Indians are junk and waaay to expensive. They break down and are just Harleys that break down more often..." I got on a Vintage and it was silky smooth with a chest pounding thump from the exhaust note. It was nimble and felt like I was driving on glass. I then went back to the Harley dealership to buy my bike and decided on a test ride. The road kind shook and shuddered like the end of the world. I got off the bike and bought my Indian Vintage. That being said, My Indian is awesome. I put on some CFR pipes and an air cleaner. She is fast and just loud enough to turn an eye. I was at a stop light and a State Patrolman on a bike stopped next to me on a road king. He turned as told me my bike was sweet. You will find that the Indian causes people to crowd around your bike.... in short, the Bike is cheaper than a Harley, the Warranty is WAY better. The fit and finish is excellent, and the ride is better than anything I have ever ridden. I like mine so much, I bought my wife a Scout 60. I am not telling you to buy an Indian, I am telling you to go to a dealership and ride one, if it is not your thing then that is cool too. We are all brothers. But we all have our own rides.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Vintage Ride What a sweet ride. I bought the 2017 Vintage model in red/tan colours. What a head turner. Get lots of looks and positive comments all the time, riders and non riders alike. Lots of power and still economical as well. Exhaust could be a little louder.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smooth engine I like that I can drop down to 30mph and not have to shift back up...almost like an automatic. My only problem with the bike is how annoying and difficult it is to check the tire pressure and put air in the tires....something needs to be done with that!
Date published: 2017-08-30
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Like my 03 better Bike is pretty nice but some things could have been thought out better. 14 leather issue, lunge during engine braking at low rpm, inability to achieve comfortable riding position without going to aftermarket parts and not putting the air shock on the vintage. All of these issues should have been addressed before the bikes hit the market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LEARNING TO LIVE WITH LEATHER I bought this bike during the 2015 Sturgis Rally. It was the first "new" bike I have ever owned. The bike is well balanced and has adequate power. I get complements on the retro styling ever where I stop. People always have a story to tell about an old Indian they used to ride. Problems have been relatively few but I will mention them here. The Leather gets dirty easy and while not hard to clean, it is more difficult to care for than non-leather. To this point, though, I would not trade. I had an issue with a loose oil filter after about 2000 miles on the bike. It cost me $125 to have the filter re-seated and the oil replaced. The rear tire is a real problem. Checking the air pressure on a regular basis is a nightmare. Since tire pressure is critical for a safe ride, this is an issue Indian must address. Also, checking oil levels on this bike is more difficult than it should be. At the 5000 mile check and oil change, the technician noticed a louder than normal cam noise. I had not noticed it. He will check it again the next time I have it in for service. This bike is an eye grabber and I love the ride and the power as well as the general feel of it. It is agile for its size and weight. My favorite feature on the bike is the electronic cruise control. It provides relief for my throttle hand and makes long rides a pleasure. It works flawlessly. I wouldn't trade my Chief Vintage for any other bike but I really like the look and feel of the new Springfield. It is a temptation. .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing quality, unique riding experiance. The purchase of the Indian Chief has been a dream for more than 40 years since I first read about them as a teenager. Styling, build quality and comfort are beyond expectations. In general handling is very good for its size and weight once moving down the road, though a bit of a handful at very low parking lot speeds and making slow tight turns. Every where you go people wind down windows to talk about the bike or ask to have their picture taken next to it. Some ask how long it took to restore, so good is the vintage styling I have the stage one exhaust, stage two cams and air cleaner and to be honest feel the power is insufficient in stock form. With the upgrades I have ended up with a little more noise than I would choose, and the drivability is not so good under 2000 rpm. Slipping the clutch is required to prevent a jerky experience when making slow maneuvers and turns. The bike seems to have a flat spot in the 60 to 70 mile per hour range. Power is improved with the upgrades but still not really sufficient. Living close to Calgary Alberta we are at an altitude of 3000 feet which does reduce the power somewhat, that said my take is this bike needs 100 HP to feel as it should. An adjustable screen height for those of us below six feet would be nice Indian used to make a four cylinder bike back in the day and I think if this bike were offered with an inline four cylinder engine in the 2 to 2.5 liter range putting out approximately 100 to 125 HP and the same torque it would be a huge success. I would certainly have my money ready for this bike if it became available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A joy to ride and the envy of the neighborhood... I've had my bike since fall 2015 and have ridden it thru the Appalachian mountains extensively. It's comfortable, powerful and quite a looker. Everywhere I go I get compliments on how well dressed the bike is and how much it resembles the old Indian bikes in spite of having all the modern technology. I like as much today as the fateful day my wife suggested we would go to the Indian dealer in Bristol... I guess I owe you one honey!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better Than Expected Put 2000 miles on the "V" the first month. It is very comfortable and capable. The second weekend The Boss and I rode a 200 mile fund raising ride. On the other brand we rode, we would be complaining about how bad our butts hurt after about 75 miles. We put the 200 on and she said her butt only hurt a little. That is extremely high praise from her lips. It carried us through wind and hills without any difficulty. I LOVE THIS BIKE!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Electrical Problem Bought this bike new 2016. All of a sudden started having electrical issues. For example all the lights in the dash come on and the speedo goes down to zero while going down the road, and you better not kill it, if you do you will have to reset the ecm to get it started. It has been in the shop 2 times for this issue and still there now. The first time it was in for 5 weeks, been4 weeks this time and no fix yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent bike! Bought my 2016 Vintage in the fall of 2016 as a birthday present to myself. Got a good deal as the dealer was trying to make room for the 2017s at the time. Only have about 5000 miles on it so far but absolutely love this bike! Looked at them at the Indian Motorcycle Booth at the Laughlin River Run for 4 years in a row and finally broke down and bought one. This bike has great power and handling, not to mention the awesome Indian look with the skirted fenders. I get positive comments from folks every time I take it out! Best purchase I ever made!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Ride I bought my Chief Vintage in November, it is the best bike I have owned in 47 years of riding motorcycles.
Date published: 2018-01-16
Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3 ride modes is nice. I'm on my 4th Indian. Three were Vintages and one a Chieftain Limited. The Chieftain was better in every way, except looks. The Vintage carries the flag for Indian. The Vintage is a work of art and although not quite as nice as the Chieftain, it's my choice. It handles well in the mountains or flatlands fine. The attention it draws insures you will meet lots of folks along your ride. Love the Vintage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PERFECT BIKE I bought this bike almost one year ago and have loved it every time I have been on it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Love the ride. I owned a Gold Wing back in the 80's and enjoyed that. With life changes, I had to get rid of it and have not owned a bike till last year. I saw the Indian Vintage and after doing some research and learning how Polaris Industries has built their bike, I wanted one. Since that time, I was able to ride 5000 miles the first year and am looking forward to this coming season. The ride is great, very comfortable, plenty of power and receive many compliments every time we stop. Also the dealership that we purchased it from has been exceptional.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just a Great Ride This bike has been a dream from the start. Great ride, great look. The only thing I didn't like was the high windshield which I ended up changing and they changed on all 2016 models. The bike has plenty of torque and just continues to pull even on the steepest of inclines. There is one warning. Be ready to spend lots of time talking about it. The retro look attracts onlookers wherever you go. My friends ride Harleys and every time someone asks "who owns the Indian?" the chorus of here we go again rings out. I am a very happy Indian Owner!

Indian Chief Dark Horse
Starting at $18,499 US MSRP
2019 Indian Chief Dark Horse Thunder Black Smoke is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 300.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth and Reliable Purchased in April 2015 and only got to put 5,000 miles on it last riding season but, so far, I'm impressed. Very smooth, handles good, looks great. Engine has never missed a beat and the transmission shifts smoothly, brakes are very good. Only cons are that the paint seems to scratch rather easily and I had to upgrade the seat for better long-range comfort. I've added a few options and am planning on a couple more. Really satisfied with this motorcycle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lots of Power, Great Looks I bought the bike over a month ago now, upgraded from a Scout. The difference is night and day. The power and smoothness of the ride is not even comparable to a Scout or similar. Very comfortable ride, and the ride height allows you to still take corners pretty tight even though this is a large bike. When I bought the bike, the dealership had put Rinehart pipes on, which sound great (much more of a growl to them vs the stock pipes). I'd think my only gripes are; 1) Clutch grab is not a tight fit and rattles against the handlebar when I hit bumps. Tried tightening the clutch cable, but that did not solve it...seems to just be a loose fit. 2) The first shift from 1st into 2nd after starting the bike is a little rough, you really have to force it up into gear. After that however, when the bike warms up, shifting is effortless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mean, Lean and Dark I purchased the 2020 Chief Dark Horse at the end of 2019 while adding the Stage 3 upgrade along with a few other extras. Once the bike was done receiving the upgrade and the 500 mile break-in period was up, I got to test the beast out a bit. Handling is effortless, ride is smooth but pulsating, power is more than I hoped for, and looks are nothing less than exquisite. The only regret I have is there is not enough time in my day to stay in the saddle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great motorcycle! I bought this bike back in August 2015. I am more than happy with my purchase. I sold my HD Street Glide and haven't missed it at all. i've been a loyal Harley guy for over 20 years, owning several HD models. The Dark Horse rides like a dream. Smooth riding, great acceleration, and great looks. I have had more people ask me about the Indian DH in 6 months at gas stations and give me thumbs up then I ever had with any other bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic bike Got this bike and it is a smooth ride. only thing dont like is mpg about 30mpg only. Right now have a big problem with dealer, went for first setvice and place stage 2 cams and haven't got my bike back in 3 days. They mafe up a story blaming polaris about the cams not beingcomplete, but I think there's some other thing they dont want to tell me. Coral Motorsoprts is my dealer and I think I'm not gping back there no more...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great powerplant I really liked the bikes handling and power plant. Thunderstroke is a great engine. The only thing I wish Indian would do is make a more stripped down version similar to main competitor models. Also with more modern styling as an option. That would bring weight down and definitely make me upgrade from mu Victory Octane. I am looking for a bigger model to upgrade in near future and hope Indian will bring such a motorcycle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best cruiser on the market from the comfort of the sitting position to the handling on back country roads the dark horse is amazing. You can ride for hours without feeling wore down. The styling makes this bike stand out. The matte black finish with a suebdued silver warbonnet on the tanks makes a bold statement. The power of engine is completely incredible. The exhaust is probably the best sounding stock exhaust I have heard on a bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Be different I fell in love with the idea in 2013 I believe when. First saw the new Indian on History channel with Mike Wolfe. Love and respect was all I could imagine.. I first rode an Indian vintage back during the summer. My dad's wife had just gotten it. She insisted I ride it, and a true love was born. FF a few months and I went to the dealer (on a Sunday, closed) to look at the victory Octane bc I never figured I could get a Indian. Well when I saw my dark horse through the window I was memorized. She spoke to me and I knew. I bought her on Oct 22 and rode her home that day. I have put 2,980 miles on her already. My I was riding a sport bike for 4 years before, and was happy to get back on a cruiser. And boy did I do it big. I love the feeling of riding a bike that is not just like everyone else's. Guys on Harleys ride up, and always compliment my dark horse. That is a win in my book!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A pleasure to ride even after a long day. I bought this bike just under a year ago. It is the most comfortable and stable bike I've ever ridden. It is an easy bike to ride for hours on end, as well as using it for riding in the city. My only issues with the bike have been that the side makers, attached with foam tape, fell off and that the exhaust note has a very synthetic, high whistle that can be heard throughout the powerband under throttle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great power and comfort love the bike bought it one year ago have twenty thousand miles on her already. been enjoying every moment riding my dark horse. to go back to a Harley at this point don't make much sense. I only have two small issues with the bike like many Indian riders agree. the rear belt squeal and the slight piston slap around 2100 rpms besides that the bike is a work horse best v twin built ever...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but not great Bought my Indian Chief Dark Horse in August 2016, at first very happy with my purchase, bike does have great handling, power, and brakes, however shortly after riding found harness for additional lighting options coming loose, wire harness tape just flapping around, and exhaust pipe/engine heat on right leg is almost unbearable at times which to me is a major design flaw. also in colder months until bike is fully warmed up, it is almost impossible to shift from first gear to second gear, another major design flaw. also hate the way the seat is bolted down, i think its ridiculous to have to pull off to side covers to remove a total of 3 bolts to pull a seat off, just make that like Harley-Davidson, one bolt in back and a hook type system up front. also fuel gauge seems very inaccurate when less than half tank. overall i do like the bike but can see myself back on a Harley-Davidson sooner than later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Bike ! I test rode this bike at Brookfield Indian and felt comfortable as soon as I started riding it, I was unexpectedly surprised at how well it handles,,,Indian did their homework with this one. I was impressed with the torque and smoothness of the engine...a little more horsepower would be perfect. The only fault for me was the forward controls as I am only five foot four inches tall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of looks Own the 2016 Indian Dark Horse and a 2015 Roadmaster. Many bikers and others comment about its good looks on the Roadmaster but nothing compared to the Dark Horse. The Dark Horse is my wife's ride and the Roadmaster is mine. Literally every time we ride, she gets multiple looks, thumbs up, comments, etc. I might average a compliment every 5th time I ride. Both are great bikes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A real head turner I purchased my Dark Horse in May of 2015. I just rolled over 5K and have no complaints. I realized the DH was designed for the minimalist, but I had to add some accessories. I'm in my sixties and have been riding for 44 years. The older I get, the more snivel-gear I need. I added: Leather Bags; Windscreen; Crash Bars; Driving Lights; Luggage Rack and the High-flo Air Filter. Wow!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very custom I bought the darkhorse last may 2015, and fell in love with it. It has been a great bike, I have enjoyed adding all the accessories and upgrades that have been available... Always new and different which is what I like and makes heads turn, even the local law enforcement would just stare at the bike asking questions with disbelief of what Indian motorcycle company is capable of!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Indian Review Over all the bike is exactly what I was hoping for and I am happy with it. It is well built and handles well. The only issues I have had so far is a noise which turned out to be a loose bolt. It was missing the seat bolts and there is a slight imperfection in the paint on the tank which I attached a picture. The transmission shifts a little hard but I assume it will break in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Bike I have ever owned I have owned my Dark Horse for a year , and it's the best bike I have ever owned. Every mile I drive it, it just keeps getting better. It shares garage space with a Harley tri-glide and a Harley v-rod , but the chief it parked closest to the door as it is the most ridden. ps I am 69 years old an I can ride this bike thru a tank of gas with out stopping. Now that's a good bike

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hands down the best bike I have ever been on. Having owned a few other bikes(Non-Harleys) and having driven several Harleys since getting my Indian, I will always be an Indian man. The ride is smoother, the handling is better and when you're ready to ride, so is the bike. If you want a bike to be recognized on, it's got that too. Put an Indian next to any other group of bikes, and see what one people want to look at.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Powerful, work in progress After 1 year I have nearly 10,000 miles on her and I am very pleased. It has power for days and it's the hottest liking bike on the road. I cannot stop anyplace without a conversation about how awesome my bike is. A complaint I have about most motorcycles (including the Darkhorse) is that the handlebar controls are not illuminated. This makes night time or early morning driving a challenge. The cruise control seems to get bumped off too easily when riding over a dip or bump. This should be adjusted. My chief complaint would be the heavy use of non-stainless hardware; rusty bolts on a gorgeous bike is soooo unnecessary. Can be easily fixed by Plaris. Also in this category of issues would be the Genuine Leather saddlebags and seats. They are vinyl with a bit of leather on them!! What the heck guys? Overall I love this bike. A step up in the details will put this bike in the grade of best you can buy at any price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Newly converted Indian fan I am back in the market for a new motorcycle and been test riding bikes at americade. Was not excited about most bikes and then I rode the iIndian Chief Dark Horse. I never rode an Indian before and this bike made me a fan. It was also the professionalism and informativeness of the Indian staff that made this a great experience. My next bike will be an Indian.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big bike smooth to handel I use to own a Harley Davidson Sportster that I traded in for a Victory 8 ball. That was a no brainer....my love for Victory endured through my Divorce and eventually I got rid of my previous 8 ball because of other adjustments in life that came my way. Fast forward 7 years later I started noticing the Indian brand. Nothing is as iconic as the Indian motorcycle. I took note of the Indian Dark horse, did my research and followed my gut. I visited two Indian dealerships but getting approved for a loan was difficult. Finally Music City Indian in Nashville Tennessee came through for me. I flew from NYC to Nashville. Those guys at the dealership were great. They got me on my bike and I took my maiden voyage 925 miles. She got me home and with no regrets. I missed my 8 ball but I have a new love... I encourage anyone looking to purchase an Indian to look into the Dark tribe. This Dark Horse is one ride not to be passed up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2016 Indian Dark Horse Chief and 2016 Indian Dark I bought this bike last September and loved it, but as soon as the Dark Horse Chieftin came out I bout it and love it... I bout the original Dark Horse from Heritage Indian in Rodgers Arkansas because the Shreveport, LA store was VERY hard to deal with, and still are to this day! It's sad just how much they DO NOT know about the products they sell!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bike I ever owned! I had my bike (Elvira) for over a year and 11,000 miles of smooth fun. The balance, quality, fit and finish are phenomenal on these machines. I ride her hard every day rain or shine, and she's never let me down yet! If you haven't at least had a text ride on these new Indians...try it ASAP! It may be the best thing you've ever done for yourself!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Traded my Harley, no regrets This bike rides so smooth. ABS and cruise standard instead of expensive options. Only three cons. Second gear is difficult until bike warms up and appears to be missing something on the shifter will ask dealer about it on 500 mile service). I wish the exhaust was a little better. But even with those cons this bike is way better than my harley.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ride I traded a 2013 Suzuki c90t BOSS I thought that it was a great ride until I got my Chief Dark Horse the balance of this bike is incredible, the power and comfort is awesome and is a joy to ride every day. Although I was unable to put a lot of miles one it (bought it in September of 17) I plan to give her a few more days on the road this year.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 2019 DarkHorse I really liked the dark horse ..it was unfortunate that the ride was short and not enough open road ..way too much traffic in the Oakville area I also took out a FTR1200 it was not too bad but mine for some reason kept stalling and had a choppy throttle response..i later found out that it did have an issue and was fixed immediately

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Darkhorse I really wish there were more options for accessories for my Darkhorse, from flat black highway bars and flat black pegs to flat black hard bags that wont break the bank. If there are options well then it needs to be easier to find! I already spent the money on the Darkhorse, please make purchasing accessories easier on the wallet.

2019 Indian Springfield Thunder Black is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 290.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tried the Vintage; The Scout and the Chieftain After trying several of the great Indians settled on the Springfield as just handled the slow speed maneuvers best. This bike just felt like a 'part of my soul' and could not get enough time on this great ride! I am of the belief that each and ever person can find the ride of their dreams in the line up being offered. I just found the Springfield a fit for me!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I've been waiting for... I'd been thinking "Indian" for a few years. I visited my local dealership (several times) and really fell for the Chief Vintage. I thought, "If I could get something like this with hard saddlebags, I'd be all over it". Then along came the Springfield. I'd ridden a touring bike with a fairing for the last six years and really wanted the protection (and look) of a windshield, and the convenience of the hard bags for long rides. Having the option to remove both and cruise with the bike "stripped down" is awesome. The look is so different, it's like having two bikes! The shield is truly quickly detachable. Takes seconds to put it on or to take off. The bags are easily removed also, with a couple of levers and an easily unplugged wire, you're looking at a few minutes total. And speaking of that wire, the remotely locking bags are great. Use either the button on the dash or the security fob to lock/unlock and you're done. I've had my Springfield for about two months now and have put roughly 2500 thoroughly enjoyable miles on. The bike looks great, handles extremely well and has plenty of power. Take one for a test ride. You won't be disappointed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 204-mile lunch run today, Jan. 18, 2018 When people ask me how I like my Indian I respond this way: "I love it, it's comfortable, it's simple and it's FUN!" The odometer turned over 4,000 miles today as I rode out of Borrego Springs, CA, with some fast-moving Harley riders. We'd just had lunch there, having ridden from Palm Desert earlier in the day. These other riders get aggressive with their throttles (some with 110 ci motors) and a big smile comes across my face as I twist my Indian throttle and this beefy 111 ci comes alive with torque and power--so much so that I'm having to keep a close eye on the Harley directly in front of me. No sense running him over! I ride about 20,000 miles per year, and I have four touring bikes. Otherwise I would have already racked up many more miles on this white Springfield last year. Today's lunch run which incorporated a multitude of twisties and elevation changes proved to me that my Indian is not only a touring bike but a sport bike that agressively takes on tight curves in a nimble fashion. I'm very favorably impressed. Oh, on almost every ride, while occasionally stopped, some stranger walks up to me and compliments my Indian. It's an all-around FUN machine!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great riding motorcycle! 12,000 mile one year review and this is a keeper. A joy to cruise, tour and good for its size on the tight sections, too. I have owned goldwings, beemers, hogs, guzzis and Polaris left no stone unturned in designing and building this bike. I am going to run this up to 100,000 miles in the next 6 to 8 years and I know I will enjoy every mile. This bike is fully featured and with the high end finishes and performance, I have just kept it stock. Added a rack and tourpak and I'm good for touring - take off the rack, bags and shield and I have a sporty cruiser that will run well in its class. Speaking of class, the finishes and extras Indian puts on makes this a bike I dont have to troll through the accessory catalog to give it the complete look. My springfield is a winner and a good purchase for the money!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really enjoying the bike Bike needs a better kick stand it seems to disappear under the bike and is hard for me to access. Bike should come with a heel toe shifter. The process to check the oil is too difficult. Takes 2 people you should be able to walk up and check it with the bike on the side stand. I had to add wiring for my handlebar mounted gps. Bike is sluggish in 1st gear you have to really twist the throttle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A few issues I purchased my 2017 Springfield used Nov. 2018. It had been 40 years since I last rode (1970 CB 750 Honda). The weight was intimidating at first, but I adjusted to it. Also, this is a cruiser as opposed to a superbike so it suited my needs better. The engine is noisy (clacker) and the vibration at higher rpm's distracting. I'm looking into the realm of alternative tuning but only if it doesn't interfere with my extended warranty. Steers and handles like a feather, making trips more comfortable. The only concern I have is the front end noise. When I get to cruising speed I pull in the clutch and release the throttle only to hear the metallic sounds emanating from the front wheel. Gonna take a look at the brakes and take off the wheel and inspect the bearing. Other than these issues I love this thing!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just what the rider ordered!!! Just an awesome bike! Smooth ride with just the right amount of features. Plenty of get up and go all with the nimble handling of a smaller bike! Only thing I would like to see improved os the handle bars for those of us with short arms. Got the reduced reach and they were worse than the stock because all though they brought the controls back 2 inches the the grips themselves didn’t and the change in grip angle now required engagement of the shoulders. Ended up taking the stock bars and getting 3inches added to the straight section, rechromed, and now they are perfect!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great motorcycle Traded a Scout in for this motorcycle with an historic legacy. Rides lije a dream, practically steers itself through curves. Seems lighter than comparable motorcycle and produces plenty of horsepower in every gear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great bike, but pricey. Took a friend of mines on a trip of 844 miles. Loved the Springfield, wish it would come with led lights and drivers backrest, both costly add ons, Stock led's on the Road King. The price difference between the two is a good amount, when you keep in mind the automatic $1,500 dollar discount if a national HOG member. Have always wanted an Indian, but the money may make me lean towards the new Harley.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Plenty of power ,handles great, good features. I like the bike , however I am unhappy with the engine and transmission noise. it has more than any of the eight bikes I have owned. My dealer says this is normal , some bikes are worse than others . I also don`t like the noise the engine makes on shut down

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE LOVE LOVE MY BIKE 2018 SPRINGFIELD Better than any of my 6 previous harleys. Smother, faster, more reliable and looks way better. As far as I can see, this bike is better in every way. Only thing is, the bike should come stock with oil and air coolers. Bike runs hot and it is a must to add these 2 things so plan on it. You also want to add a leather groin cooler. Captain Itch Carrie's a nice one and is reasonably priced. Other than that, this is ONE HECK OF A GREAT BIKE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Motorcycle I got the Springfield 2 months ago. I'm so impressed with it. The looks, the handling and engine. It really is superior to any other bike out there. I ride HD for years and years. No comparison. So glad I switched.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Handling Heavyweight I've ridden my Springfield from September through November (thanks to the heated grips) and found it lived up to its reputation as a great handling, comfortable bagger. What I didn't expect was the attention it got from passers-by due to the beautiful fit and finish. Despite the bike's weight, it is easy enough to manoeuver. The one negative is accessing the rear tire to check the air pressure due to the closed fender and exhausts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love everything about it! I bought it 2 months ago and I have loved every minute I'm riding it. I receive so many compliments on the bike too! I have owned 3 HD's and countless Honda's and Yamaha's, but this Springfield is The One for ME! It's easy to handle, the center of gravity is low, I can back it into a parking spot without any help, and I love, love the 26 inch seat height. Thank you Indian for producing such a quality and fun loving motorcycle!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I liked the torque. In any gear. Lot of fun. Good sound from the exhaust. Best part - I was repositioning myself at a stop light, leaned too far over and almost dropped it. Not sure I would be able to right it without killing me, but I did. Not sure I would have been able to do that with a Harley. Only negative was the seat heat from the motor. It wasn’t even that hot today (SWFL) and my butt was burning. Maybe circulate air over the cylinders somehow? I drove a 1973 R75/5 over there today. Those cylinder heads stick out into the wind and I think it cools them

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nimble, quick and comfortable The bike is extremely maneuverable. She handles like a dream....not heavy which is amazing as she's a big bike. It has plenty of torque whenever needed and will leave many in the dust if called upon to accelerate. The suspension is very comfortable, meaning no surprising jolts to you when going over bumps. The lines of the bike are very easy on the eye. I often find myself enjoying its' design while parked in my garage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Motorcycle I bought this bike a month ago and I've put about 1000 miles on it so far. Its a far better deal then trying to put on the MODS you need. Crash bars should be standard incase something happens. Locking saddlebags allow you to stay prepared. Rear passenger setup allows you to keep the wife happy. Windshield helps you ride for more of the year. Of course I've added my own things but overall a awesome bike. Ride is great at all speed and the reliability I've seen out of them over the last couple years is amazing. Looking forward to many more miles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Cruiser and touring bike on the market! I bought the Springfield in March, couldn't ride until May. I have 8,000 miles on it and I love the features. Took it on an eleven state seven day tour in August with a total of 2,208 miles, the only complaint was in high heat and humidity the seat is not comfortable for very long, even at highway speed. When I bought it I had the stage one intake and exhaust and stage two cams before I took it home.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent bike...but I bought this 2017 Springfield new in February 2018. After riding it 7500 miles I feel I can make a honest evaluation of the bike. The looks of the bike are spot on and draws attention and thumbs up everywhere I go. Handling is really good and takes curves like a smaller bike weighing much less. It has lots of power especially in mid range. Sound is great once you install some slip on pipes. Excessive heat from the catalytic converter was unbearable for me. There are aftermarket options to overcome this. Wind buffeting behind the windshield is a problem but fork wind deflectors help. I sometimes remove the windshield and ride with a full face helmet. This is like having another bike to choose from. Warranty has covered a cracked windshield and a bad voltage regulator. This bike has a lot of good things going for it and over all I like and enjoy the bike. But... the one thing I really don't like about the Thunderstroke engine is the excessive valve train noise from 1800 to 2500 rpm. This is where the engineers let something pass that they should have eliminated in the beginning. Using the windshield holds this noise around your head and is irritating to me. I guess between loud pipes and earplugs I will live with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome bike This is my third new Indian since 2014. The quality and attention to detail is second to none on the Springfield. The bike handles great and feels much lighter than it actually is. The maroon and gray color combination is gorgeous. My dealer in Elizabethtown, PA is great and a joy to do business with. I'm looking forward to do some serious touring on the Springfield this summer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well made, fun to ride, difficult to clean. Purchased in June 2017, I had forgotten how much fun it is to ride a motorcycle. The Indian is expensive but I suppose you get what you pay for! It is well made, sound, classic looking and has yet to let me down when I want to ride. It is fairly good on fuel but could be better! I am 6' and the stock windshield could be a few inches taller. Overall, I would recommend this model!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still in love I have now had my 2017 Springfield for 7 months. I have almost 10K miles on it and I am still thoroughly satisfied. In early June I did a 12 day, 3600 mile trip to New Hampshire and back. The bike performed flawlessly and averaged 46 MPG. The air adjust shock and comfortable saddle combined for long days with little fatigue. The honeymoon is definitely not over.

Indian Chieftain Limited
Starting at $27,999 US MSRP
2019 Indian Chieftain Limited Thunder Black Pearl is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 172.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bike! Bring on liquid cooling. I demo'd the Chieftain Ltd yesterday and it was a great ride. The engine feels and sound great, the chassis is excellent and the ergos are pretty much spot on. All it needs is liquid cooling as Euro 5 emissions restrictions approach, and to satisfy younger guys like me who grew up on sportbikes and standards and want a cooler running engine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good machine lacked comfort Motor, suspension and handling was awsome. Couldn’t get the windshield adjusted optimally to reduce wind buffeting, needs to be taller. I found the seat to be very uncomfortable and seemed to push me to far forward in the bike. I’m 5 10 but seemed to me it would help to be seated farther back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from sweet ride great changes to the look I took a test drive on one in lake George and was very happy with it. I,m holding out to buy one, to see if they make a tour pack that goes with it, and also if they change it to a 4 valve then a 2. the only thing I did not like is the heads have a cheap look to the finish, but look good in black. I road the 2019 chieftain limited.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chieftain Limited - 116 Kit Very impressive machine. Redesigned fairing provides great wind protection. This bike had the 116 kit installed and power was available across the entire power band... had no problem keeping up with other bikes. More gadgets then anyone would ever need! Smooth ride, easy shifting, and great handling for a big (900 lb) bagger.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I was not expecting a smooth ride I went to the demo ride and right away when I saw the Indian Chieftain I just had to do It and take it for a spin. Getting on the bike I wasn’t expecting to be that well balanced I didn’t struggle and the handle bars are super smooth. I did not feel like I was forcing my body to steer the bike it handle well like a champ.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Didn't plan to, but bought one. Rode in on a Street Glide, rode out on a Chieftain Dark Horse. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth This bike is fantastic for tall riders. I'm 6'9" and it felt great! I test rode a 116 with some higher bars and had plenty of room. The bike has a TON of power, and despite the size corners surprisingly well; the most balanced machine I have ever ridden.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Power Did a demo ride today in Daytona. The 116 motor just wants to haul butt INSTANTLY. Also the bike is very nimble. Really enjoyed the bike. Currently ride a Victory XCT, which I love. But if the time comes to think of a new bike... this is where I will be!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from soom Good features I will try the bike out again at Heritage Indian, Rogers, AR. I was very disappointed in the new seat tha comes with the bike. I found it to be very disappointing as to comfort especially on a long trip. I have a 2017 Black Horse Chieftain and I had to chang the seat out for a after market seat made by Ultimate Seats. In the short demo ride at Bikefest Osage Beach, MO I could not give a long enough ride test, The time that I did have riding in the seat I still felt very uncomfortable so I assume it would be ever worse in a long ride. The seat also reminded me of the stock seats on your old Victory line of motorcycles. I will look at the three ride modes in more detail when I attend the Bike, Blues and Bar-B-Q in a couple of weeks. I only roadie with the bike in sport mode and did not care for the throttle response. It was too touchy especially when I encountered rough sections or bumps in the road. Every bump caused me to increase throttle without intending too so it was a bit unsettling. Again I will give it another try in a couple of weeks to try the other two modes. Although I like the new fairing and most other body changes it is not enough for me to want to upgrade at this time. I would also suggest a couple of changes. First a possible seat option to an upgraded touring seat simulator to the Ultimate seat. second, imagine the 2019 red Chieftain with the blackout engine, wheels, front forks and all black out chrome... that would be a awesome look for a red bike....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Too many to explain! Screen and options amazing I went on the demo day ride. First of all, thanks for this opportunity. Rode a chieftain on standard mode and was shocked by the torque, but also how smooth all the operations were. Beautiful fit and finish and I saw the heads turning as I drove by!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely Quick I took the 116 version on a demo ride. Even in standard mode it accelerated briskly. It was very responsive through all gears. The features are impressive. I had a moment to play in sport mode and it set me back in the seat. It’s an awesome machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressed The 2019 Chieftain Dark Horse felt a little smaller/lighter than my 2017. I liked some of the controls a little better, but there was too much wind buffeting with the windshield up. I wish I hadn't tried the 116 however. Now I wantvto have one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The 3 different throttle modes were the best featu It was simply a pleasure to ride. I'll never look at a Harley the same again. The ride was smooth and comfortable. The stereo sounded great at all speeds. I loved the throttle response in tour mode. It was simply the best bike I have ever rode!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing Handling Machine I rode this bike during a demo day. I currently own a 2018 Harley Street Glide Special. The Indian impressed me with the suspension and handling. It ate up road bumps that would have jarred me on my Harley. The brakes were way better as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice product I test rode a Chieftain Darkhorse today..wow...completely impressed with the power and comfortable ride. I'm currently riding a Victory Cross Country and this seems to be the next logical choice. Bags are big and I love the flat white paint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive ride! Had some rough weather roll in while we were on the ride; Hail, heavy rain! Still I did not want the ride to end! Loved riding that bike! I have test rode the HD Street Glide and Road Glide...I am digging the Chieften Dark Horse above all!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2019 Chieftain Dark Horse Brought another rider to the Demo Ride event. I rode the 116 Big Bore Darkhorse. He rode 3 or 4 different bikes and fell in love with the Springfield. All these bikes are awesome. That is why I own a 2018 Indian Chieftain Limited....

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great features I bought this 4 months ago and had nothing but engine problems and if only has 2330 klms

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very cool ride. Comfortable and fun bikes. My son and I road a few of you bikes at the international show and they were all very nice rides. Both of us preferred the chieftain dark horse with the big bore kit. Your staff was awesome, including those at the Daytona dealership.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice riding experience I wanted to try a forward controls bike with a character-full engine and the Chieftan is all of that in spades. Surprised by the experience, not sure if I would like the roadmaster more, but I love the way the chieftain limited looks!

2019 Indian Roadmaster Thunder Black is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 1134.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this Bike! I test rode all the HD's and Indians at Daytona Bike Week in March 2017. I narrowed my choices down to the Indian Roadmaster and the HD Road Glide CVO. I decided on the Roadmaster - it fit me better, had more standard features and it was no contest when it came to value. I just came back from a 12 day ride in the BC Rockies on my Roadmaster. Best trip ever!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Ride I bought this bike in the Spring of 2017. I upgraded from a Victory Kingpin to the Roadmaster. The RM is a much better bike. The Ride Command makes cruising extremely enjoyable. Being able to flip through and see the status of every part of your bike, from the average miles per gallon to the tire pressure to the direction your headed, can really give you a sense of comfort. The throttle moves the bike as easy or hard as you want in every gear. This bike is very well balanced also. You can move along in slow traffic without needing to put your feet down just to keep from falling. During the high heat of the summer, it does get hot, but when you're moving on a good road with some good friends, you don't feel the heat. Just the good ride.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love the ride, power, and handling I get a lot of heat from the right side exhaust so much that I can't keep my leg in one place for to long. This is something that needs to be addressed before I can recommend this bike to anyone

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What more could be asked for? I purchased in Jan of 2017 and love this bike. It handles better than my 2010 Chief Vintage and has sooo much more standard accessories. My 2 main comments are that the map updates did not go as specified and the customer satisfaction people wanted to argue with me and tell me that something was not happening when it in fact was. The download kept asking for some sort of prepaid authorization. I will have the update done at the dealer during my next visit. Item number 2 is an accessory complaint. I love the roadmaster, but do not always want that big trunk on it. It is easily enough removed, but once that is accomplished my wife has no backrest. The accessory catalog says that the available rack will NOT fit with my Roadmasters heated seat. So they want me to replace the large heated seat for a smaller one and then buy a backrest, rack and backrest pad. Now here's the deal. If Indian can manufacture that giant piece of hardware that holds the trunk, they can certainly manufacture the hardware to attach the same place as the trunk but hold a backrest and pad for my wife. I feel as they are making it difficult to make a quick switch from a trunk to a backrest, and maybe just want to sell another seat. Let me unclip the trunk and clip the backrest in its place!! Simple. That way changing the seat every time is not required. Sorry for rambling!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 116 ci Stage two cam I rode a demo bike at Hot Springs AR. today. It was the most disturbing ride I've had in a long time. The bike doesn't function at all below 2000RPMs. Very sluggish, no throttle response, jerks and surges. Is this what a new Indian is supposed to do? The Indian rep told me he throttles up and feathers the clutch. Wow really? Why would anybody want a bike that's not engineered properly to ride in a real life situation? What purpose is this bike made for? A touring bike will have to stop sometimes and take off again. Must you always take off at full throttle to keep from surging? What good is a bike that can't be ridden slow , in slow traffic, without throttling up and feathering the clutch?
Date published: 2019-09-08
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great bike overall but engine is really hot I love everything about the bike except the fact that it's air cooled and the engine is blistering hot. Everything else about the bike is a 5 star review!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from mixed bag Theres more I like about my roadmaster then what I dont but the donts are biggies to me so lets start with them...the first major dislike is the paint I got the blk and silver I paided 2grand extra and its not a very good paint job my dealer has replaced two components becuse of poor quality paint very disappointed in that fact the most. For the price im paying for this bike it should be show room quality. Next would be the lack of features and not a very good sound system I have less then 1000 miles and im replaceing the front speakers they are not what the should be for a bike of the calabur and as for dash features why no cumpass? My last complaint is the warrenty period 2yrs? Your biggest competition has 5yrs. Now!! I love how this bike handles the most I feel so balanced and comfortable in all my maneuvers the confidence you get is very comforting. the power of this bike seems to be getting better the more it gets broke in I only wish it got better gas milage but im told it will get better soon. I also love the rumble of the 111 with the after market exhaust and the super sucker air cleaner. As I said theres much more I like then I dont like.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Knew from the first ride Purchased this bike 4 months ago and have had a blast with every mile. The beautiful Icon Blue drew me in as soon as I saw it and it has only proven to be an amazing ride. The sound system can be heard clearly during 80+ mph riding and it is extremely comfortable for long rides.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great All Around Motorcycle I bought my Roadmaster in July, switching from a Yamaha Raider. The bike is incredibly comfortable. Well designed, with tons of storage and extremely comfortable. It handles incredibly. I recommend this bike to everyone I talk to. It's not perfect, there is always something on any bike that can be tweaked. For me, the stock handlebars are a little low. Also the exhaust is too quiet (my personal preference), and runs hot. The only other problem I have run in to is that it seems to idle funny. From what I have read this is to meet EPA regulations. It definitely has more potential than what it is set up for stock. Those minor complaints are easily made up for in handling, comfort and storage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2017 Roadmaster is Worldclass I have been riding for 45 years and live in Australia . We can ride here 365 days a year . I ride to work 5 days a week and get out on my Indian on the weekends . I have owned Super Tourers including Goldwings and Victory Visions and upgraded my Chieftain to a Roadmaster . The Roadmaster is capable in all things and brilliant in most things . The Indian handles really well for a big bike with very generous ground clearance. The 111 Cui engine is super torqey and pulls strongly in all gears . The ABS brakes give good feedback and work really well . The electronics are brilliant , and the 7" screen with Sat Navigation and multiple displays and awesome sound system is the best I have ever seen . The biild quality is very high with great paint and buckets of chrome . And importantly Indian have a large ever expanding range of accessories, if not a little expensive .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2016 Indian Road Master 9 Months later I purchased my 2016 Indian Roadmaster in August of 2015. I have been extremely impressed with the bike. Indian has done a great job giving these bikes the extra touches that put them above the rest. I've been riding for a long time, and this is by-far the best machine I have ridden. I sill have an HD Road King that I love, but it doesn't compare to how awesome the Indian Road Master is. The biggest issue I have had is with the saddle bag weather strip, the lid pushes it over the gasket over leaving a the sticky glue. The dealer has replaced it at no cost, but it keeps happening. Other than that, I've had no issues with the bike. I have added the Rush War horse exhaust, the Indian high flow air intake, the Indian short windshield, and Indian Mid Rise handle bars to my bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Bike! I rode this bike at a recent demo day and I found it to be a great experience. I like the versatility and infotainment of the ride command system, I think that it is the best setup in the business bar-none. I like the rear cylinder disable feature, it seems to work very well. I also like that the gear indicator functions whether the clutch is engaged or not. I found the ride to be a little cramped. Coming off of a Victory Vision, I felt that I had limited options for foot position. The ride was very smooth, and the engine was very torquey. Overall this is a very well built motorcycle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Springfield Blue & Cream After patiently waiting & watching Polaris raise this newly branded Indian motorcycle into the 21 century for a few years & for an Indian Dealership to finally arrive in Vancouver, {Langley} I indulged myself into this beautiful iron horse known as Roadmaster. I had visited a many newly popping up dealerships all over north america in these years to see the bikes as they were coming in & started to see & feel the excitement I was getting to the styles & design. After building & rebuilding this bike countless of times on the web site, I think I got it the way I want it. Photo included.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Head Turner!! I bought this bike in July 2015 and it has been great!! As new accesories come out, I can't help but to keep adding to it even though it is beautiful stock from the factory. I enjoy adding things to it to make it mine. I have bought a second Indian Motorcycle since this one. (A 1949 Scout) that I am having restored. Since buying this Roadmaster it has sparked my American motorcycle history bug!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful Bike, but the price! Took the road master for a test ride, I was pleasantly surprised at its balance and the ability to maneuver at low speeds. This truly a luxury touring machine with plenty of grunt for passing and riding two up. I was disappointed in the lack of extras included, being priced at the top of the touring market I would have expected more options than the other guys, instead you have to shell out a pretty penny to load you machine up with all the things you need like drivers backrest, armrest extensions for passenger. At 40k all in (Canada) the starting price for this bike is very high.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smoothest Ride Ever I traded my Harley Elctra Glide Ultra Classic in for the Roadmaster. I went to the dealership during a test your metal ride and was wowed by the quality of the bike. Then I took it our for a ride and was so amazed at the smoothness of the bike. The way it handles in corners, the balance. I can only say that it was mind blowing. When I got back to the dealership, I talked with them and got the info package. 4 days later I dropped the Harley off as a trade-in and rode away with a new Roadmaster. I can say whole heartedly that I will never return to Harley. I am a die hard Indian fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Greatest motorcycle on planet Earth The Roadmaster is the greatest touring bike made. Period. The heated seats and grips along with the power windshield make long trips, even when it's chilly out ,nothing short of pure joy. The engine has more than enough power for any highway and the suspension is like floating on a cloud. The best thing about an Indian is that a bike as beautiful as this never goes unnoticed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Of The Line Tourer I bought my Roadmaster, because I was in the market for a top-end touring bike. I, also, wanted to buy an American made bike. I loved the look and features of the new Indian Roadmasters ever since they came on the scene in 2015. Once I took a test ride I was hooked. There is ample room in the trunk. My wife and I have the Indian Liberty Jet 3/4 helmets with visors, and Sena headsets, and they fit nicely in the trunk. The saddlebags are roomy, and I love the fact that they, the bike, and the trunk all lock with the key fob (there's also a button on the gas tank for locking). The trunk and saddlebags are easily removable for "naked" riding. Probably one of the best things about the Roadmaster is that they are fully loaded from the factory. They include: heated handgrips, heated rider and passenger seat, adjustable windshield, Ride Command system with maps, bluetooth, and a 100-watt sound system. The tire pressure monitoring system is a plus, as well. This is a heavy bike, but it doesn't handle like one. It's much easier to lift off the kickstand than the other well-known American manufacturer's comparable bikes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ride , power, and looks I love the ride. I can ride for hours and hours in comfort. The power is why I chose this bike over the Harley Davidson. I have a 2015 Red and Cream Roadmaster and I receive compliments all of the time even from Harley owners. The Radio system needs improvement and is not XM compatible. I have had numerous issues with the keyless remote start system and if it wasn't for the security code , I would not have been able to start the bike on many occasions. The problem has not been resolved. I wish indian had made this remote system an option. I would rather have a keyed ignition.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First Time Indian Owner - 2016 Roadmaster Prior to this ride, I owned 3 Harleys, the last of which was knocking on the door of 100K miles when a cager took me and the bike out in a near-fatal accident. As I was working through surgery and physical therapy, I wanted to revisit the option of an Indian for my next ride. What sold me was the classic American styling, the salute to the Indian heritage, the TS111 engine, and the sheer amount of chrome and extras that on my Harleys required lots of expensive one-off upgrades. And having gone through ACL surgery after the accident, the low center of gravity vs my top-heavy Harleys, made a world of difference in handling. Now for the things that need to be better: - Stock paint: I bought the bike all black, but had a custom paint job done with a beautiful brandywine metallic. For the portions still left stock black paint in my two-tone scheme, I notice that the slightest stone kick-up seems to leave pits - mostly on front fender and lower fairings. Indian needs to up their game on stock paint and on clear coat out of the factory. - Off the line-punch: The power of the TS111, combined with the Stage 2 cams and air intake and exhaust upgrades produces a bike with plenty of power. However, I wish it had more punch off the line.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Roadmaster has it all I purchased the 2016 Roadmaster in August put 2500 miles on her so far and loving it. Out of the dealer the bike had great power, high torque and handled with ease. Bike turns on a dime. The power windshield is a must have and leaves you wondering how you got by before you had one. The fairing, hard lowers and heated grips /seat has kept me comfortable down to 40 degrees so far. Upgraded to heated leather solo seat, Lloydz airbox, slip on mufflers and PC V, For deeper sound and aesthetics. I found it best to remove the lowers for local cruising when temps exceed 85 so the motor can breathe and your not feeling the heat from the catalytic converters in slow traffic, stop lights etc. Would have given 5 stars but for a few bugs, My radio was bad and had to be replaced because of Nav errors Bluetooth wouldn't work consistently, Speakers could use an upgrade, The oil breather located in the intake makes an annoying clacking sound with anything but stock air breather and it does spit out oil making your filter ugly in no time so buy a black one. Aside from those minor issues the roadmaster is an effortless luxury ride with no vibration, good wind deflection, powerful torque with plenty of accessories that you would have to buy as extras with other bikes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bike! I've had it for 5 months and it is a good bike but like all things a few downsides are the heat on your right leg from the motor, the radio reception is terrible and the battery will die if you don't start it for a week unless you put a trickle charger on it. If they fix these three things it would be an awesome bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rides like a dream! This is my second Indian Motorcycle in two years, I was so pleased with my 2014 Chieftain and the 22,000 miles we rode together in 19 months, that I opted for the 2016 Roadmaster with its larger heated seats, heated handgrips and touring pack which holds two full-faced helmets perfectly. This could be the last motorcycle I will ever need to buy! The power, performance, low center of gravity and the amazingly counterbalanced Thunderstroke 111 compose the stuff of Legends!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great experience I first saw the color combination I purchased this January in Sturgis last year. I could hardly wait for it to arrive and finally it did this past January. I have enjoyed riding it and my wife just loves the comfort it provides. I have 8000 miles on it now with several hundred of those riding through Yellowstone. Most recently Las Vegas Bike Fest. I've tried several types and brands and picked this roadmaster as my investment in excitement for the next several years. I encourage anyone to demo all bikes but make sure you include Indian and you will see for yourself.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from My ride I guess I got rid of my Harley 2012 Ultra limited CVO to buy this bike the only complaint I have is the electrical issues that my bike has had from day one although the dealer has worked diligently to solve these two days before I leave on a long trip my bike is still in service

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First 300 miles I've had the bike for about 3 weeks and I love it. My only concern is a clatter that is very noticeable at about 2000-2500 rpms. It seems to be getting louder and louder. Its so noticeable that other riders hear it. I talked with the dealer as I was concerned it could hurt the bike. He assured me it was nothing to worry about and they would check it out at the 500 mile check up. A friend bought an identical Indian Road Master and his does the same thing. He took his bike back to the dealership and they didn't know what it was. Has this happened on other Indians?

2019 Indian Chieftain Dark Horse® is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 281.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Bike! I actually ride a BMW but I love Indian bikes. Ride them every chance I get. I will eventually have a Chieftain in my stable, once I get my last kid out of college. This one is incredible. I love the updated fairing. The sound system is excellent. Cruise control, ABS AND electric windows!!!!

But I didn’t even get out of the parking lot on our short little tour I knew this ride might be in my future. I’m going to have to do some more research now but this experience changed my perspective an Indian bikes 180°

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice ride, 116 upgrade The test ride was wonderful, I thought the ride was smooth, controlled, and very powerful as well. The bike sat well, moved under me as if I had been riding it for years. I thought the throttle response was fine, a little different than my coble throttle, but the fly by wire was just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like riding a recliner down the road I rode the 111 and the 116 and I dont have any complaints about either bike. The ride was super smooth, power delivery was amazing especially in sport mode, the radio was outstanding with a full face helmet and the volume at 3, and it's easy to learn the features of the bike fairly quick.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice I love the bike. Surprised that there are still a few issues consistent with getting into 2nd gear early in the ride. It is ok once bike warms up. Would love to add Indian Accessories but too expensive. Items like genuine Indian rider backrest. Should not cost as much as they do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good ride I have a 2014 Chieftain. I like it very much. I do like the new display. Ride Command. But it totally looks different. Not a fan of the new look. Makes it look like a Harley. I rode a new Harley street glide CVO. Was not impressed. Like the Indian much better. I would like a better seat

From all the features, the power, the sound, the style and ultimately, the way this girl handles the road. I haven't had a bike handle this nice on corners since my days riding a 750. A Truly incredible bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ride and easy sign up I did a demo ride at the Loudon International Speedway during bike week. The sign up and ride process was so much easier than other vendors there. The bike I rode was Chieftain Dark Horse. I was impressed with the look and blown away by the ride; easy handling and great power.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chieftain dark horse 116 FUN FUN FUN Before the demo ride i had owned a 2017 chieftain with stage 2 cams and let me tell yo that if you were thinking stage 2 it is so worth a little more for the 116..If I can get a good number on my bmw I will own another chieftain as the ride and handling is top notch!!
Date published: 2019-06-07
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very comfortable, and powerful I was sceptical at first. After taking the chieftain for a spin I felt very comfortable and in tune with the bike. Handled well, cornered, and TONS of power with the upgrades. Had 14" apes and was the perfect height, and the adjustable windshield is a huge benefit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun Bike! First time riding a bike of this size and I must say that the features of this bike make it so EASY to handle/ride. Low center of gravity, powerful, and smooth. Wasn't really thinking about upgrading my Scout (cause I love it) but riding this bike was a blast!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 116...wow! I road a Chieftain Dark Horse with the 116 TS and I am extremely impressed. I ride a Springfield and ride it aggressively. I've stayed away from fairings but frankly I didn't even notice it except for the awesome tunes and Ride Command features. Well done!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chieftain Darkhorse great looking retro style Was not planning on purchasing but after demo day had to have one. Good looking, love the blacked out retro style. Good performance with stage 1 pipes and air filter. Loved my victory Vegas 8 ball, never had bagger and turns out it was good time for change.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Didn't plan to, but bought one. Rode in on a Street Glide, rode out on a Chieftain Dark Horse. Unbelievable torque, same weight bike but the balance and handling was improved exponentially. Features galore, only things I plan on improving are the grips and the muffler could be louder.

Date published: 2018-10-20
