Indian Scout Sixty
Starting at $8,999 US MSRP
2019 Indian Scout Sixty Thunder Black is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 411.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, “sport cruiser”? Since the brand came out under Polaris, I have been really interested in the Indian motorcycles. They look great (to me), the reviews are great and after taking a test ride I was hooked. Mine came with slip on mufflers and before taking delivery I asked the finance guy if there was any room in my approval for a tuner or intake. Fortunately, there was and the parts guy, who was very knowledgeable about all the products I mentioned, suggested the Indian brand performance intake. To my surprise it comes with a computer flash and really sounds and performs great. I am not a big fan of loud exhaust, in fact I really don't like people that rev their engines for no reason. That being said, when I wind this scout sixty up from a stop and whip through the gears close to the rev limiter, it sounds monstrous! It also gets me where I’m going with haste (Its quick!). I wouldn’t say this bike is fast because a non fairing bike is only as fast as you can put up with holding on against the wind. For me not wanting to struggle against the wind keeps me from potentially running into some legal issues. It does however get to 100mph without issue and quickly. I don’t know how much of this is attributed to the slip on exhaust, better intake and tune, but I’m sure it didn’t hurt. I have not figured out exactly what the top speed is, but without fairings and an open stretch if road, I don’t really want to. I live at the base of the rocky mountains, just below Estes Park and the road up and down the mountain seem to be what this bike was made for. The pegs are forward and high enough that they don't scrape. The engine has plenty of power and I actually love the low riding position (I’m 6’1). I am often tempted to shift my body and drag a knee (I haven’t yet, but seriously its fun on the twisty bits with the engine revving with the occasional growl and roar shifting gears out of a corner)! Perhaps the coolest thing about this bike is the classy look, to me its the ability to haul my posterior up the steepest part of the mountain at 80mph (8000 ft elevation) with my fat posterior in tow. The “parts guy” mentioned that the benefit of the Indian air intake and performance tune is that it more easily adjusts to Elevation change (pretty drastic in my situation) as other systems omit the O2 sensors and can mess up fueling and how well the bike runs with elevation change. I wish it came with bags and a cell phone holder, but there are always the next paycheck or two and the aftermarket to take care of that. Until then, I will be wearing a backpack and shoving my cell phone between my crotch and the seat. So the cell phone reminded me of the only thing I don’t like about the bike because the only time I can look at my phone (gps) is at a dead stop. Occasionally, when at a stop, I will shift it down to first gear from neutral and it will go into gear with a bit of a clunk. The only other bike I have ridden that did that was a Harley Fat Boy, except the fat boy did it in every gear. Maybe it has something to do with the characteristics of belt drive, but chain driven bikes and shaft driven bikes I’ve ridden in the past never seemed to do this. With the first gear clunk aside, this bike is awesome. Oh yeah, the other thing I don’t like about the bike has less to do with the bike and more to do with financing it. I will just say that it is best to save up and buy it with cash, because your $9,000 bike turns into $12,000 financed real quick with taxes and all that bologna. Thats true with every bike though. I have only had the bike for a total of 4 days, two of which were work days and I have easily put 500 miles on it. Luckily for me, I bought this bike on consignment and the original owner only put 750 miles on it. That was a good thing, because the first service is due at 500 miles (performed at the dealership before I signed for the bike) and the second somewhere in the 3,000 or 5,000 miles, I’m not sure which. Anyway, I love the bike, whats not to love? Its a sporty cruiser, made in America, pound for pound one of the best cruisers ever made, and it puts a smile on your face going to the store, granted you’ll have to do it with a back pack, but smiles like a kid with his backpack on the last day of school.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth and easy to handle I did the test ride on Ruby Red Scout 60. I thought the engine sounded great, the power it offered was more than enough for the type of riding you would do on a smaller cruiser bike. This bike had some options for shorter riders on it, but it was the only Scout 60 they had it seemed. I really like the red paint too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First cruiser I've ever ridden. Rode one during a demo day and it was the first cruiser I've ever ridden, and I loved it. Comfortable position and plenty of power.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good throttle response For the size of the engine, it had good throttle response. The seat was a bit tough on my tail bone, but then I am 58 an dI have a bad back, so take it with a grain of salt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bike and comfortable ride! My friends had been bugging me for a year to get a bike and ride with them. I was skeptical as I felt too old to ride a bike being 63 years old. Well last month I finally pulled the trigger and bought a 2019 Indian Scout 60 and I'm having a blast with it. Really comfortable and easy to handle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very peppy I demo rode this at bike week and was pleased with its performance and power for such a small bike yet not intimidating for a new rider. Very light and easy to handle.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great engine, wretched ergonomics The 60 handled well for a cruiser, and while it's the smallest engine, it's more than capable. I also rode a Bobber. The riding position absolutely sucked on both though=much worse on the Bobber. With your feet so far forward, all your weight is on your butt, and that saddle is atrocious. Within five minutes I wanted off. And that was the 60. On the bobber I felt like a "C" clamp. That riding position is absolutely evil. And that's too bad. It bends into corners nicely (as long as you don't lean too far . . . .), accelerates nicely, and has great brakes. It could be a great bike, but all the fabulous engineers' efforts pale behind the idiot who designed the seat and riding position. Just for background, I've put about 200K miles on various bikes since I got back into riding in 2004. I've currently got a Kawasaki W650, a Suzuki DRz-400, a BMW R75/5, a BMW R1100S, and a BMW R1150GS. Last summer I qualified for the BMW 100K mile award.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Demo on a Scout I wanted to try the Scout. I'm not a cruiser type of biker. It rode ok. Its small and low. Its not a long distance bike.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Scout Sixty Its a nice ride smooth with ample power don't like the positioning of the foot pegs, prefer straight down also handlebars should be further back

Rated 4 out of 5 by from smooth, comfy riding position Test rode this bike. Handles great, very comfy and has a nice and smooth motor. Powerful for a 900cc motor. Bike is light and easy to handle at a stop.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple features Great first bike. I would suggest to my sister. However does not have gas gauge. Only trip odometer. So new of a bike really
Date published: 2019-06-09
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice bike I really enjoyed this bike. Light, low seat height and plenty of power for anyone on this type of bike. Front brakes could use a little more power and lighter pull but not really any problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not geared for hilly terrain Live in north central WV and wouldn’t buy this bike. Riding this bike up mountains would require the rider to spend more time shifting from 4th to 6th and back again. Also disappointed with the lack of power it had as compared to the standard Scout. This bike would probably be good for mostly flat terrain

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What an amazing ride I currently ride a 2001 Kawasaki Vulcan 800A. It's a great bike, but can be a rough ride at high speeds and it also is very top heavy. I didn't realize just how top heavy my bike is until I got on the Scout. Having the engine placement being so different and, I think, lower and more centered, it makes the bike super easy to handle. Turning and curves was also sooo much better; the bike was almost intuitive - whatever I thought about doing - turning, etc - the bike seemed to take my lead and just took over. The ride was so much more enjoyable, more comfortable. My front tire is a very thin tire - I didn't realize how much of a difference just a wider tire could make. The bike was easy to shift, also. It had a nice pickup from a low speed. The only thing I'd like more is a louder sound; it doesn't have to be a massively loud, but I'd feel more visible if I could be heard better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pocket Rocket I test rode this bike at the demo ride in Denton, TX. This was pound for pound the most fun and fast bike Ive ridden in years. I am astonished at this 100hp hotrod marvel of engineering. It will get your heart pumping quickly with lightening acceleration and supeeior handling. This is a must for the sportbike kids who occasionally just want to switch to mid forward controls an a more relaxed stance. You can stiill go fast jn the twisties and turns but ride all day. This is a great bike for those smaller in staure. It was fun but too small for me. I am 6ft tall' 63 years old and I was a bit cramped. I'm still more of a big cruiser guy. The women at the demo and many younger men seemed to love this. machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Premium Bike I rode this at an Indian Demo Days. It is a fantastic entry into Indian Bikes. It just exudes presence and has an awesome feel. Power is always available and the torque makes it so you dont have to constantly have to be changing gears to be in the power band. Fit and finish is amazing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smooth and stable This was a demo ride during your truck visit. Setup was great and ride was long enough to get a great ideal about the motorcycle. Gearbox was very smooth and clutch was smooth and lite but bike actually felt small. Great power for smaller engine.

Indian Scout
Starting at $11,499 US MSRP
2019 Indian Scout Indian Motorcycle Red / Thunder Black (ABS) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 1001.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ride, Great Look! The paint job caught my eye a year ago. When I found out the 2020 Scout would not have the Willow Green option, I began looking & found a new 2019. Took it for a test ride & was sold. Comfortable, responsive, and a great look, who could ask for more? Just went over 1,000 miles & still love the ride. Plus every time I stop at a light, folks pull up & tell me what a great looking bike. Love the classic styling. Indian hit a home run with the Scout.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Color, size and how light and peppy the bike is I've had this bike now for about 2 months, I really enjoy riding it. It is very light compared to my prior bike. The fit and finish is extremely good. I've had some great comments from strangers when i park it. Some of the things that I would change are as follows: Needs a more ergonomic and comfortable Seat. I added a Gel Pad to improve this. I believe that Indian needs to balance this bike a little more based on the additional weight of the exhaust pipe side on the right side. Also, the bike seems to over heat a little faster than my previous bike before the fan comes on to cool it down, but it finally does and that helps. The engine idle speed in neutral is a little high for my liking, but that maybe due to it being new and prior to the 800K checkup which will be in the next month or so. I'll find out about that then. But overall, I'm quite enjoying riding this bike. Can't wait till the Kuryakyn Bluetooth Speaker arrives and is installed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Such a joy! I have had my scout for a little over a month now. Put about 800+ miles on. I love my bike. Think I need the extended reach seat to be a little more comfortable on longer rides but it is a joy to ride. Every where I go people stop and admire it. They put their kids next to it and take pictures. It sure is an eye catcher.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the bike, rides like a dream I've had the bike for a month now. It is a very well built machine, smooth acceleration and plenty of power. Comfortable and great handling. EFI has a light surge at constant speed, but great for most riding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for short trips I brought this scout for local and short rides. It makes a great second bike in which that’s what it is. Looks great plus I added a fairing to it with a radio plus other thing. The only negative is that it bottoms out so I plan on changing the fork springs as a start and add heavier oil. Also put a keyless ignition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A fun retro ride ! I bought this two months ago and I am extremely happy with is motorcycle. Very comfortable and easy to ride with the low seat. I added the saddlebags and performance pipes. The bags are very handy and pop right off when not needed. This is just a great fun bike that gets lots of looks and thumbs up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible machine I bought this bike in March of this year and have put 600+ miles on it so far. the bike fits me like putting on a glove. It is just one amazing machine. I could not be happier with the performance and looks of the bike. I can not count the times that i have come out of a store to find that people are checking out the bike. It is a real eye catcher. The high end torque is impressive to say the least. I like the ability to put around town under 3k rpms and still be able to hop on the highway and cruise comfortably with plenty of power to spare. It's just one incredible machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never thought I would own a cruiser ! I have had many different types and genres of motorcycles. Dirt, Adventure, Street, Dual purpose, Naked, Sport Touring etc. This is my first cruiser and I'm diggin' it. I can kick back and cruise or blast through the mountains. It handles pretty good in the twisties and high speed sweepers. Just went from Alices's Resturant to San Gregorio via Hiway 84 and high speed sweepers were a blast. The Scout holds a pretty good line at 80 on up in the big turns. Highly recommend aftermarket shocks for increased ground clearance and comfort. Got the Progressive 444 shocks, they give you about another inch of clearance. Now I'm not banging the foot pegs so much. I also have Moto Guzzi Griso and an African Twin. Another bike experience on my way to Valhalla.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bike for older riders I rode when I was younger and life got in the way and stopped riding. At 59, I wondered if I still could ride and enjoy it like I did. Bought the Scout retro on a whim and can't stop riding it. Love it! Considering moving up to a Chief or a Dark Horse!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from the seat that came on the bike is not comfortable I really enjoy the bike. I would not of done anything different except get a better seat. I love the smooth transition in gears, and the throttle response. Power is right on spot. I love my Indian and will buy another when the time comes. Next will be the touring bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautifully crafted Machine This is my Second indian scout. Eventhough the cons are still a a bug, all the pros’ take over. It is comfortable. Easy to maneuver in the city . Scouts love freeways, that is why i find it enjoyable to have long rides. The torque was something that surprised me from the beginning as it puts a smile on my face when i go to the fourth , fifth, sixth gear. Solid machine. No plastic anywhere. Sucks that there the closest dealer is 80 miles away but hopefully they expand once we,indian lovers, prove we all need a dealer in major cities or closer to them. The fact that scouts here in the US dont have the steering lock system installed, makes it unsafe in sketchy areas as people can just roll them away. So im supposed to spend $600 (parts + labor) to have it installed. So that sucks really. Overall it is my favorite baddest looking bike i’ve owned (Yamaha, suzuki, triumph, ducati) in my 18 year experience.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful Motorcycle I purchased my Scout Bobber a little over two months ago and I could not be more happy with my choice. There are a few upgrades I did immediately unfortunately the one I should have done first was the seat. It’s great for short rides but anything longer and your tushy will def fill the effects.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Bike I've had the Scout Bobber 60 for a few months now. I couldn't decide if I wanted to buy the 60 or spend the extra for the 20. The 60 has been great for riding around town and short interstate rides. The fifth gear on the five speed transmission is the same gear ratio as sixth gear on the six speed so the top end difference is negligible. If you're on the fence I would save a couple grand and buy the 60. You can do a lot of customizing with that extra money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not too but not too small Bought this bike 3 months ago, hit the 1901 mile mark relatively quick. Drives smooth... Several people complain about the stock seat, I havent noticed any issues (except the first however many miles the "break in" period). I do find myself reaching for more gear from time to time

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Riding on cloud 9!! This is the first Indian I have owned and I now know I will never change brands again. Being a relatively new rider, my first bike was a 500cc cruiser. I had my eyes on the Scout Bobber, but was concerned it was too big an engine for a new rider. Three years later, I finally got my wish and purchased my brand new Scout Bobber. Impressive is the best word I can use to describe this bike. It impresses people and its performance is impressive. I couldn't have asked for a better bike and I am in love.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Scout bobber I have put about 1200 miles in about 6 weeks. I love the bike. Great gas mileage. I get about 48 miles per gallon. My only real complaint is that I feel the seat could be a little more comfortable. Riding for an hour starts to hurt a little. I'm 5'11", and 200 lbs so I am not big or tiny.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this beast! I had my eye on the Scout Bobber for over a year. This year, I finally pulled the trigger. This bike has exceeded my expectations. Plenty of power! Nice n low! Handles great! I get compliments every time I ride. I recommend my Indian to any prospective buyers.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor value Mostly, for the price I paid, the Indian has been a disappointment. I didnt even get it home and was already having small problems. Many things seem cheap and flimsy.. (brake lines, clutch and brake cables,Mirorrs, etc.). Ordinary parts like the seat need to be upgraded. I thought I was paying extra money and getting a premium motorcycle, instead I have gotten nothing but problems. I regret spending the money on the Indian. I was considering the Yamaha Bolt and wish I had bought it instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fit! I’m a short person and a new rider and this bike is perfect for me!! It’s comfortable, handles great, and is light weight. I ride a most daily and find it’s great for going around town. It’s minimal style is sleek and visually pleasing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Isn’t she lovely! Isn’t she wonderful! First and foremost. Kudos to the marketing staff at Indian Motorcycle for understanding the power of infusing diversity into their marketing material. The fact that I was able to see Black men on and around the motorcycle was a powerful motivator for me to purchase an Indian Motorcycle. The Indian Scout Bobber 20 is absolutely lovely, pretty, wonderful, and made from love. I can just sit there and just stare at her all day. I was a little nervous about all the power, but I can tell you that so far I am enjoying the ride because I respect the motorcycle and ride within my abilities. I found out that the seat can be comfortable if I relax and place my butt square within the seat rather than towards the front. I love that it comes with UBS port, but so far I have not used it because I want to pay attention to learning how to ride.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from overall great bike - stock seat sucks After 2 months and 1500 miles - very happy with overall purchase - will need to accessorize a bit, but that was part of the plan. I heard the stock seat was bad, but it is beyond bad, it is total garbage, but still a GREAT bike, and with Corbin replacement seat available (there are others, but I went with Corbin), this should not be a deterrent, just plan on upgrading seat as part of your decision process. I will swap pipes, possible tune (for sure if I go 2 to 1 on pipes), new enough model that not a huge range of "factory ready" accessories.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my Blue Bobber! I traded my Scout Sixty for the Bobber. Riding position is a bit more aggresive, more power, and really, I love the look of it! I added a saddlebag to it and will install my Pathfinder headlight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty bike, nice ride I was a passenger and felt very comfortable with the way the bike handled and thought the bike balanced well and had plenty of power. The driver mentioned that it handled best of all the bikes we rode in the demo. The driver also mentioned that gear selection was very forgiving. We liked this bike best. Aesthetically very pleasing to me. I love the willow green and cream paint scheme with the brown leather.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE my Chief Vintage!!! I purchased my 2015 Chief Vintage 4 days ago and have ridden it every day! It's an absolute pleasure to ride. So comfortable and nimble. You don't even realize you're on an 835 lb. bike. Superior balance! I love the Vintage's classic looks, the OG front fender, and the leather. Watch the leather, man! (Dazed and Confused). Not to mention the Thunder Stroke 111 has torque for days!!!! So smooooooth!!! Stops on a dime, too. When I began riding 3 years ago, I fell in love with Indian motorcycles. I like all of them and their individual nuances, but the Vintage was love at first sight. Now, I finally have it and I have to keep pinching myself. Even though I bought it pre-owned, it only had 12,500 miles and is immaculate. I'll be riding this bike for many years to come and enjoying every mile! Well done Indian!

Position of rider is high over the road, comfortable seat, nice engine sound, great torque, no vibrations, very smooth ride and looking like the king of the road on top of all that. Wow!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE THIS BIKE! I was so pleased with the demo ride - great opportunity and a long enough route to get a decent feel of this bike. The ride on this Chief is amazing - very plush, yet so responsive with lots of go and excellent whoa! The accessories are great...very happy with my new, lovely "Sadie"!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handles nice and got lot of torque I had it on a demo ride in Americade 2019 and loved bottom torque and sitting comfort. Front brake is weak and useless compared to rear that excellent and do amazing job stopping this bike instantly and confidently. Lot of buffeting above 90mh. No hill shift. Instrumental is hard to read and distract from riding because its location on the tank is down below the vision. Nice quality leather saddle bags and the seat. Lot of shiny chrome that blinds you out on a sunny day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Demo ride My son and I are both Harley guys but, I must admit I was blow away by the ride and handling of the bike I test drove.. I will definitely be looking at an Indian for my next bike!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very smooth, powerful and well balanced ride This bike lived up to everything I wanted it to be. Classy, handles like a dream. Rides smoother than a similar bike I currently ride of the competitions but still shares some of the big, American muscle raw beauty.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My Second Indian Demo Ride After driving the Scout, the higher-powered Vintage 111 was a noticeable improvement. Unfortunately, I soon found that floorboards, rather than pegs, caused problems with accessing both the gear-shift and the rear brake. This resulted in significant handling issues for me, which I expect would be no challenge to most riders. The available list of accessories is most appealing to me, but I must overcome the issue of the floorboards before I pursue a purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely beautiful Bike Was impressed with the power of the Thunderstroke engine. Incredible torque, and lovely sound, both on acceleration and deceleration. Impressive chrome and paint, good handling and the ABS braking is a great feature. Good suspension compliance too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice motorcycle I went to the Indian demo ride event hoping to ride the new ftr but it was only available as a display because it hasn't officially been released yet so I thought I would like to try the scout but after sitting on a couple decided at 6ft 4 inches tall weighing around 290 I was just built to big to fit the scout so the chief dark horse caught my eye I sat on it perfect fit then I was informed the vintage was the same bike but had a windshield and bags so I rode it the bike handled well had good power and looked fantastic if I just had to find something to complain I'd say the absence of a heel shifter as I have ridden similar bikes in the past which heel toe was a standard feature and not having it on the big Indian naturally I tried to use it a couple times and it wasn't there

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Handles like a smaller bike Test ride only. It was very comfortable and handled well. However the windshield was very floppy. Not enough support. My Vulcan has a reinforcing strap on back making it stiffer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A smooth, powerful, and performance filled cruiser I first demoed the Indian Vintage in 2015 when the Thunderstroke 111 was introduced. Since then I have ridden it several times during Daytona Bike Week. It is a marvelous machine with beautiful retro-styling. It is very powerful, yet offers a smooth and comfortable ride. I have ridden most of the Indian line at Daytona, and many are impressive, but the Vintage is my favorite.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3 ride modes is nice. I'm on my 4th Indian. Three were Vintages and one a Chieftain Limited. The Chieftain was better in every way, except looks. The Vintage carries the flag for Indian. The Vintage is a work of art and although not quite as nice as the Chieftain, it's my choice. It handles well in the mountains or flatlands fine. The attention it draws insures you will meet lots of folks along your ride. Love the Vintage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An amazing ride on air. I bought my 2015 Indian Chief Vintage last Sept 2018 in Ottawa Canada and was completely blown away by the comfort and handling. This is my first American bike and experience with the American trans like the HD, and boy does it ride well. The true feeling of freedom when you take the quick release windshield off for a ride is a great feeling and I haven't done that in a long time. The looks I get from everyone is amazing as its a vintage model and sets out from all others. Thank you Indian :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bike, but ridiculously high parts prices! Bought my Vintage 3 years ago; have loved it deeply, but have grown to just as deeply resent getting "robbed" every time I need a part. Check out the cost of the rubber grommet upon which the windshield rests, or the cost of replacing a cracked glass lens on one of the "passing" lamps. You will not believe it. Indian's answer to my constructive criticism of the high parts prices was "We are not responsible for road damage" (Duh!), and "Our parts are priced accordingly for a premium product". I also have a 2017 KTM Super Duke GT and a 2014 BMW R1200RT--both "premium" motorcycles-- and even BMW can't match Indian's price gouging for parts. The experience of buying parts and accessories has been so unpleasant that it is slowing souring me on what was once the "love of my life" (apologies to my wife!).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Electrical Problem Bought this bike new 2016. All of a sudden started having electrical issues. For example all the lights in the dash come on and the speedo goes down to zero while going down the road, and you better not kill it, if you do you will have to reset the ecm to get it started. It has been in the shop 2 times for this issue and still there now. The first time it was in for 5 weeks, been4 weeks this time and no fix yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loving it! Owned a Kaw in the mid 80's and after a 30 year no ride period, I bought a Scout in 8/18 and after 2100 miles I knew I had to go bigger and while at the dealer I seen this baby. After negotiating with "the boss" we agreed on trading the Scout if I kept the same color combo or black and tan. The Vintage is everything we wanted and expected. It's a comfortable ride, the throaty distant rumble of the pipes is like music, it has everything we needed shy of the backrest for us both and the weight makes encountering winds or large vehicles a non-issue now. Keyless is something I really wish hadn't been added as I like the key in the ignition but that is the only thing I would call a minor negative if it's a negative at all. I've received a lot of compliments and the group I ride with use the words "awesome" and beautiful" when they first seen it. I think there's a few HD riders considering "upgrades" as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overly well-behaved Test rode this at the Long Beach show, and it's the first bike of this size I've ridden. Shifting was smooth and quiet, the ride was supple, and the power was more than adequate. I rode with a passenger, and she really liked the backrest and thick sidebars. This bike is just short of being twice as heavy as my current bike, but the balance was fantastic. And of course, the styling was exactly what I was after. My only complaint is that this bike was almost TOO refined. Shifting seems too smooth, and the pipes were too quiet (I know that can be changed). Floorboards had my feet in a different position than my other bikes, but it didn't interfere with shifting, which was always something I had wondered about. All in all, a fine machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a good honest bike I was a bit worried when I bought my Chief Vintage in January of 2014...it looked like a real pretty bike but I wondered if it would be all lipstick and rouge. I'm pleased to say that my Chief Vintage has proved to be a reliable trouble free bike. It has great options like ABS and it is a real eye catcher.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Bike The seat is very comfortable, Drivability is great, handles awsome, floorboards are comfortable. I am 5'4 and I can flat foot the ground at a red light. I cannot find one fault with this bike, many aftermarket parts and upgrades available

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gorgeous Motorcycle I really enjoyed demoing this bike. I was especially impressed with its slow speed handling. Most other big bikes feel awkward turning around in a parking lot, but the Indian was confidence inspiring. Out on the road it was very smooth and developed power right from idle. No need to rev this bike even to 5000 rpm. If I had any complaint it was the heat from the motor sitting at traffic lights. But, hey! this bike was built for the open road.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Bike I've Ever Owned I bought this bike back in November. I've always been a Harley rider. I was in the market for a new bike and just couldn't pass up the deal Youngblood PS offered me. I ordered the stage 1 setup with some of the money I saved compared to what I was expecting. Man, it sure has a lot of torque in those lower gears, but there's so much power throughout the range. I can't believe how well it handles...just point and go. It doesn't feel like a 750 lb bike. Everybody at the dealership, especially George and Dakota worked with me on the deal making sure I got just what I wanted. As long as bikes like this are being made I'll never go back to Harley.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Bike and Better Staff! During a quick family trip to New Mexico my twin brother and I noticed the local Indian dealership had a demo day. Being avid bike enthusests from upstate NY we couldn’t pass on the opportunity to experience New Mexico on our favorite means of transportation! The sign up was quick and easy and they even let our wife’s ride with us! We were able to sample several bikes with the amazing staff of Albuquerque, Indian dealership! They even took us on a personal tour ride to ensue we were able to experience an additional bike without our limited amount of time! We can’t thank the guys of Albuquerque Indian dealership for being so welcoming to a couple guys looking to get the most out of and opportunistic moment with our wife’s! We will absolutely be looking at the Indian line for our next bikes!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Going back to Harley - horrible experience I spent two years waiting to get this Dark Horse. After two weeks of ownership there is more rust on this bike than my H-D had after a full year of riding. The chrome trim was wrinkled the day I bought it and being warrantied along with the gas tank that hadn’t stripped bolts holding it on at purchase. Went to install the black fuel cap set today and found a rust patch the size of a quarter under the faux gas cap. Stage 1 flash was done at the dealer and now every time the bike is started, it stumbles gasping for air and stalls. There’s rust in about 6 exposed holes on the frame, after a trip to the dealer this week I saw all the new ones on the floor had paint in these holes, mine was bare metal and now fully rusted. The fork tube is also being replaced because it had a 3 inch scratch to bare metal at purchase. By the way this bike was to return to Indian as in 2016 I bought a Dark Horse that poured oil all over my garage the day I got it home. Will never buy another Indian and will surely share this experience. I was so impressed with the price of this bike for what I thought I was getting but I guess you get what you pay for. Now I’ll take a loss on this bike....again!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Dream Bike! :)) I have waited 19 years for my kids to grow old enough to finally purchase my Dream Bike. I really love my Chief Dark Horse. Ride is so smooth and comfortable and torque and acceleration are amazing. Once I am riding, I just don’t want to stop. I can ride for miles. I am 5’11 and the riding position is just perfect. I can praise enough the team of engineers, designers and painters at the Indian factory. You can tell they all take great pride of their jobs. Thank you all for helping me leaving my dream. Now back on the road ;)

Although I was unable to put a lot of miles one it (bought it in September of 17) I plan to give her a few more days on the road this year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Ride I bought my Darkhorse this year following two years of enjoying my Scout military tribute. I was itching for a little more comfort and size. I moved up to the Darkhorse which was customized as a Bomber and man do I love this bike! The third week I owned it I was off from Longmeadow Massachusetts on my Bomber to Syracuse NY to the flat track races to watch the wrecking crew. Top finishes all the way! A great weekend on the most comfortable and powerful motorcycle in the world.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kiwi Indian Dark horse Bought my Dark Horse in May 2016 and have loved it ever since. Everyone except my wife knew it was on order, unfortunately the day it tuned up at home i was away on business, so i received a message from my surprised wife to say "your new black baby has arrived and is safe n sound", needless to say this was not the first time a new toy had arrived without her knowledge (or will it be the last). To me Indians have always been the pinnacle of motorcycles, and this bike proves it. I have owned so many bikes over the years, but this one is a keeper. These bikes are so cool in every way Have added a pillion seat, pegs, sissy bar (for the wife, she loves it too), Rinehart mufflers (sounds awesome), Wimmer high flow air intake, mapped and tuned and more recently ape hangers. Still to come are stage 2 cams and Freedom Performance dual headers. Indians are well respected here in New Zealand due to our Kiwi legend Burt Munro (the worlds fastest Indian).

2019 Indian Chieftain Classic Thunder Black / Ivory Cream is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 101.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love My Chieftain Classic Been a little over a year since I purchased my 2017 Chieftain. I liked it when I bought it and my pleasure in owning the bike has just increased over time. I took a 3.000 mile trip through Canada during August and the comfort and performance were all I could ask for. Have Stage one and two and recommend the upgrade. Just rode the 2019 and liked the selective throttle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ride I enjoyed a demo ride on the chieftain this afternoon. After riding my 2012 Judge, the Chieftain was so much smoother in very way, with virtually no vibration such as I am used to. This was a very nice bike to ride. The raise/lower wind screen made riding at freeway speed much quieter, making my old and noisy helmet almost acceptable for 70 MPH+ speeds. A touring bike may just be in my future. Thank you for this opportunity. I may have to change my nickname from Rafting Don to Cruising Don.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Dream Bike! August of 2017, My new wife (just married) accidentally stumbled upon a phenomenal deal on a used 2015 Chieftain(2008 miles). Previous owner installed stage 2 cams, performance air filter, Reinhart slip on exhaust. I've since then put around 2000 miles on it and let me tell ya! WOWWW. It is an absolute pleasure to ride! Riding position is so comfortable on longer runs with no shoulder pain or lower back issues. My Chieftain (Tala) rides like a dream. In my opinion the suspension is spot on just firm enough to be nimble but forgiving when you need it to be. Power is amazing, smooth thru ought the power band and pulls like a freight train in all gears. I've replaced the stock speakers with Polk Audio since I'm a little bit of an audiophile. The overall ride is composed very very well at ALL speeds. Only issue I had was the back fender had a little paint bubbling on the edge. Replaced with no hassles under warranty. If you're looking at reviews trying to sway you one way or the other GO TEST RIDE ONE and take this into account: This bike has elevated my passion for riding to another level that I didn't know existed. Pure pleasure and tech savvy mixed into it. Last but not least the bike is absolutely beautiful! I'm a proud INDIAN owner. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Spirit Best bike I've ever owned! My 2016 Indian Chieftain was purchase in Colorado 2017. I was on a 2006 Yamaha Roadliner 1900S at the time heading to Colorado for my birthday trip, when after 800 miles from Minnesota had to stop for the night due to issues. Next morning was the call that decided it all. Here I was beginning of trip I had planned for months to celebrate my 50th & experience the Million Dollar Highway and everything Colorado had to offer. (I had previously test rode a 2015 Indian Chieftain in Spirit Lake, Iowa during Okoboji open house year before but couldn't make commitment since I was dedicated to becoming debt free.) Now her I was at G-Force in Lakewood, CO with situation of being stranded or choice of purchasing a New 2016 Indian Chieftain. No doubt looking back I've made the right decision! I love riding it's all I think about during winter months in MN (hate snow, originally from Indiana), so I travel solo as often as I can to visit family that are still there & in Montana. I feel so comfortable while riding my Cheiftain, it takes my soul & "Spirit" away. The ride is smooth, push button start is something I've never had prior, while the power & comfort are strong reasons for enjoying my new ride. Wished I just had 12months of riding my "Spirit", my Indian Chieftain. Teresa Bell of MN

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Bagger EVER!!! I’ve owned motorcycles from just about all the Major motorcycle brands including Harleys but my Indian Chieftain is by far the best overall motorcycle I have ever owned. It blends the reliability, technology, and performance of the Japanese cruisers with the classic styling, fit and finish of an American cruiser. For a big bike it is very easy to handle. As a Millennial I can say for certain that Indian is headed in the right direction for future motorcyclist.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bike ever! I purchased the Indian Chieftain in February 2016 after a test ride. Having ridden for 50 years and owning dozens of motorcycles, I can say this Indian is easily the best motorcycle I've ever owned! I've rented Harleys all over America and there is no comparison to the Indian. Plus, the Indian stying makes all other brands seem obsolete.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2017 Silver Chieftain I got the bug in the spring. I flew to Denver from Asheville for Demo Days and fell in love with the Chieftain, just couldn't pull the trigger at that moment. In June I bought a Sportster, mostly due to the money, but other factors. Even while buying it, The Indian was in the back of my head. I finally saw that the special for the closeout of 2017 was right where I needed it...free money! I bought it in December and even with the bad weather, I have put more miles on it than the Sporty in 6 mos. Wanna buy a Harley?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT Bike to ride---looks good and feels good My Chieftain is the most comfortable bike I've ridden. The ride as well as the mix of old school style and new age tech just make my Chieftain a real pleasure to ride. Great handling and power mixed together---GREAT JOB!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great handeling I am so excited about my new purchase. I cannot wait for the weather to truly break so I can finish the initial break in and really get her going. I am 6'7" so finding accessories that make it a more comfortable ride is important. While I think the quality of the new OEM products is excellent, the cost is just too high. I can't afford to buy a $300 dollar set of Indian highway pegs when I can pay $150 for almost the exact same product from Kuryakn. The best quality means nothing if people can't afford to buy them. Just my two cents worth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Bike Ever I bought this bike new in May of 2016. I added a few minor improvements and had it pin striped. While at a physical therapy appointment in the waiting room I spotted 2 girls stop and look at my bike in the parking lot and one of them pulled oout her cell phone taking several pics of my new ride. When I got called in the therapist asked what I like best about my new Indian over my old Suzuki Intruder. After telling him all of the obvious reasons I liked it better I said, " and besides nobody ever stopped and took pictures of the Intruder!" And that just about sums it up!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dedicated to my wife My wife of 34 years passed away November 29 2017 and since I purchased my 17 Chieftain, I decided to have it custom painted in her favorite colors of blue and purple. I had a Pancreatic Cancer ribbon painted on with initials of JAS for Jane Ann Schwartz and her date of birth and date of passing. I know she watches me as I ride knowing how much my heart is broken and my Indian provides me some grace!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a great bike I bought my bike in May 2017 and rode around till my first oil change and then I hit the road. I did over 33,587 km in my summer, which included a coast to coast trip. Looking forward to next summer to get back on the road. What a gorgeous bike and comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent!! Purchased my bike last year after looking around for several months and test driving other bikes. I'm really happy with how it looks and handles. I've received a lot of compliments and I'm very glad I made the decision to buy my Indian Classic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bike. I bought my new Chieftan Classic on December 1st. I fell in Love with the Thunder Black Pearl. The dealership in Belmont N.C. had just sold the one I wanted, but quickly found another. Great great people at this dealership...I cant express how wonderful these people are. From start to finish, everything was great! And...I Love my new bike. Way better than my 2003 Harley! Merry Christmas to Me. Jason C.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bike! I bought my 2015 Chieftain in August 2016. This past summer, I rode cross country from Clovis CA to upstate New York and back. I logged 7,650 miles taking a southern route east and a northern route west. This was by far the finest ride of my life! It was comfortable and smooth. I had zero issues with my bike, riding in all kinds of weather and roads from back roads to highways. Totally loved it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasantly Surprised I went into RideNow Powersports Concord for the sole purpose of having my Yamaha 950T serviced. I always thought that I would one day upgrade to the big boy bikes, but after meeting Justin Massey, Sales Rep., with whom I felt very comfortable, I found myself actually, seriously looking into purchasing an Indian Chieftain Limited. Because of Justin's reassurance that doing the math on a purchase is not a commitment, but rather a chance to look at facts and takeout the guess work. To make a long story short, I didn't think I could be made comfortable enough to purchase the bike, but Justin and the sales staff got it done. I am now the proud owner of a 2018 Indian Chieftain Limited. Now, I could have spent my review describing my new Chieftain, but that bike sells itself and you can read about it or see it at any Indian dealership. But what you can't see anywhere is the service and attention to detail that I experienced at the hands of Justin and the Concord, N.C. staff. It made the difference. I've been in North Carolina just over two years, and I can tell you sincerely, interacting with Justin and the Concord staff was the best personal interactions I have had since moving here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Motorcycle!!! This is my second review of this mc and I'm going for another test ride soon. I was so impressed with the suspension that it is worth more time in the saddle to further evaluate the whole bike. I'm certain I'm going to buy one and still keep my Harley. The Chieftain is that good a bike and so is my Road King. Too many toys is a good thing! My Road King is red but my Indian will be black. You have to give this bike a chance. It is FANTASTIC!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Overall Bike, comfort, ride, performance. I've had my Chieftain a hair shy of 4 years. It now has 55,000 miles on it and runs better than the day I brought it home. I don't think they get broke in until around 15K. I know they run a bit hot, HD moved the CAT back to combat this, I just removed mine, Vance & Hines slip ons, problem solved. I have Avon grips and highway pegs. Other than that she is stock and runs great. Handles like a dream, smooth, powerful and flawless. I rode HD, Honda, Yamaha, ect for about 35 years before getting this bike, hands down the best riding bike I've ever owned period. I was on HD exclusively the previous 12 years. I love my Chieftain and when its time to retire her, I'll buy another. Maybe a Road Master. You won't be disappointed give Indian a ride.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like Riding on a Lazyboy!! Bought one of the first numbered bikes. Do not regret it. It rides Awesome. Was so use to tightening up for bumps on my Harley. This thing takes them in stride with some Great Glide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from top of the line in the motorcycle world I climbed on this motorcycle in June 2014. Power, torque, craftsmanship and style. I absolutely LOVE this motorcycle. This bike handles like a dream in hard curves, mountains and around town. The thunderstroke 111 is a beast. I believe I will keep this bike for ever. I have owned 3 other make of motorcycle. None of them compared to the quality of the Indian chieftain.

Indian Chieftain
Starting at $21,999 US MSRP
2020 Indian Chieftain Thunder Black is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 625.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Chieftain I test rode this bike and enjoyed the ride. I found the cockpit a little tighter than my 2013 Victory Cross Country Tour. Nice ride !

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Powerful but less than expected I took a new dark horse with the 116 big bore kit for a test ride and it was nice. It had a noticeable difference in power from my 111 Roadmaster Classic but I kinda expected a little more. Nevertheless it was still a nice ride.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice ride First time on a Indian. Been looking to purchase one in the near future. Overall ride was good. Great power and handling. I'm 6'2, so it was a bit cramped for me. The glass didn't go high enough to keep my head from getting hammered around. I think a taller glass, lowers and the longer seat would fit perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Honest review The chieftain I was offered to demo, had a stage two kit installed. The throttle was to sensitive. and the exhaust was to loud. However I kept those things at bay as I rode. Vibrations were very minimal. Transmission shifting I would say very close to a goldwing. Steering with the fairing was very light and effortless. Wind deflection very good. Reaching for the kickstand was almost impossible while seated on bike it was to far forward. That break pedal is two small for the reach a car type would be better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Ride already own a 2017 springfield , really like this bike and thought i would like to try a chieftain classic . Surprisingly a very different ride and refined fuel delivery on the new bike .Throttle and transmission seem much smoother on the 2019 chieftain

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Chieftain This bike was a great ride, sound system was awesome and the driving modes made this bike great to ride. The switch between touring and sport mode was amazing. One dislike is the seating position. Feet are too far forward and no heel shifter standard. During test ride had to stretch my foot to reach the shifter. Unfortunatly this bike is not for me but was a nice ride plenty of power and the sound system was amazing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 116 I own a 17 chieftain, I wanted to try out with the 116, and mid rise bars. For me I didn't care for the mid rise, the 116 is nice but for the type of riding I do, I don't think I'd spend the money. I like my bikes design better than the 2019, The 19s look to much like a Harley(not ditching Harleys, just like the differences).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing and surprising bike I test ride the Chieftan for one of my local dealers demo days. I gotta day I was truly impressed by the features, comfort, nimble handling, and power in such a big bike. If I was in the market for a touring bike I would 100% purchase this bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent riding experience at Americade I did a demo ride at the Americade, I currently own a Harley Street Glide Special and wanted to try the Indian Chieftain. I did like the Chieftain better as far as how light the motorcycle is and it rode amazing. But some small features like the blinker only on one side I had a hard time adjusting to also no heel shifter on the one I tried out. Also had a hard time with the kickstand, I have shorter legs (hard time reaching). My next purchase I will certainly look at the Indian versus Harley, I was very impressed. Thanks again, also I want to mention the staff from Indian was excellent.
Date published: 2019-06-09
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice ride but design really sucks I am so disappointed in the design teams lack of vision. This is essentially a HD Street glide with Indian logos. Cheap and easy way to get converts but at the expense of your soul.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great handling and power Test ride the Chieftain 116. Don't know how Polaris did it but they made a large cruiser steer smooth, light and precise. Power was smooth in touring mode and only got sharper and more fun in the two higher modes. Stereo was not intuitive and hand grips are too large for my liking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ride, Really Smooth and Powerful! I had the opportunity to ride a new Chieftan with the 116 engine. It was on a demo day at Coastal Indian. This bike has everything, power, style, and it was very comfortable. For me, to check off all these boxes is rare. It made such an impression on me I intend to buy one once I've paid off my Vintage, lol!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from IMPRESSED Rode the Chieftan at your Demo Days in Knoxville. I have a Road Glide and the Chieftan is a better motorcycle in every way. I was immediately comfortable doing anything I wanted to do on the bike. power, comfort, suspension, brakes, handling, slow speed maneuvers, all were superior to my Road Glide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable and sporty I've been riding naked street and adv bikes for years. I decided to take this bike for a spin and was totally impressed with it. The handling, power, ergonomics, engine and exhaust all came together for a truly enjoyable riding experience. Having the electronic adjusting windscreen and four speaker sound system let me ride around very comfortably to good tunes that could actually be heard over the sound of the wind.

Indian Springfield
Starting at $21,999 US MSRP
2019 Indian Springfield Thunder Black is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 318.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bike Took the Springfield Dark Horse for the Demo ride. Even in Standard mode the throttle response was quick. This bike had great power delivery, a smooth motor and a smooth comfortable ride. Fit and finish was excellent. The only draw back was the heat from the rear cylinder.
Date published: 2019-07-09
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good bike but not for me I liked the power, handling and brakes of the Springfield and the bike is great looking. Unfortunately, the cockpit is too large for me. The reach to the handlebars caused my back muscles to cramp.
Date published: 2019-07-06
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome ride! I test rode the Chieftain and Springfield, and while the Chieftain has more creature comforts, the Springfield has a far superior ride. I could ride the Springfield all day.....and perhaps never come home.
Date published: 2019-06-30
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well built, very smooth ride, good power The Springfield is very nice. It rides very well on rougher roads. Has plenty of power and the electronics tell the rider everything they need to know. I don't sit as low in the bike as my current bike, so I was a little less comfortable. I think a driver backrest would help with the comfort, although overall I was comfortable during the test ride. Overall, I great bike.
Date published: 2019-06-30
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly good power and handling. I was surprised by the power and ease of riding this bigger cruiser. I am not used to forward controls but quickly learned to manage. The only distraction was the tall windshield that forced me to look through it. That would be something to change.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than anything else 21 k and two years later. Can't find fault. Tested them all. BMW, Honda and Harley. Those 3 couldn't touch it for ride and comfort or power. And Indian Springfield beat them in price. Harley lists a cheaper Road king with no extras. Once you get it up to Springfield standards it's 25K.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome bike I’ve had 10 bikes and my favorite was always my road king, until now. This bike is a road king on steroids. I had to make a few personal changes to the bike, like beach bars and a floor board lowering kit but now it’s as perfect as a bike can be.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not my style I liked the bike but I'm not used to a cruiser style bike. It was comfortable but felt sluggish compared to my bike. I think a Speedmaster would do almost everything this bike can do for a lot less $.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bike Loved the ride and the bike. It was a little hot next to the engine, but that may have been because it had been risen for several hours on demo. Either way, it handles amazing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Springfield Aweful Wind Buffeting for Passenger Sorry to say we traded our Yamaha Touring Bike in for a new 2018 Springfield and I hate it. Would not recommend at all if your going to have a passenger. It is debilitating pain for at least two days afterwards. We have spent alot money and time and no relief. Depressed I won't be able to ride after all the money to purchase. Don't buy without trying it first at all speeds. At home recovering from short ride yesterday in tears.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really nice ride I did a demo ride one of these models today at a poker run in Escondido, CA. It was the first time I’d ridden an Indian, I was impressed with the ride and feel of the bike, only issue I could see having is the width of the floor boards, for me they feel a little narrow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a seriously versatile and cool ride! I was determined to replace my 2007 Kawasaki Nomad with an Indian Springfield or a H-D Road King. I am a cruiser/bagger rider. This bike felt right and stole my 40 years of riding heart right away. It basically sold itself. It has power and torque to spare, looks great, and handles well. This baby is gonna be with me a while, and she's gonna get a lot of TLC, and see a lot of action. Eventually she will get custom paint because she is worth it. I would like her a little louder, but she growls nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Less is more I love this bike overall better ths any Indian I rode at the demo ride in Denton,TX hosted by Big Tex Indian. This bike has no stero, no GPS or fancy fairing. It has a windscreen and is a stylish cruiser/touring bike. It handled like a dream. It sounded just the way it should and for all it's simplicity it was far and away the best bike I rode. When it came down to it, I thought about the bike I rode in on (1999 Suzuki VL1500 LC Intruder C90). You dont miss what you never had. It has always been about the ride and the adventure. No gadgets just you and your motorcycle... That's why this was such a special ride. Everthing you need and nothing you don't.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A few issues I purchased my 2017 Springfield used Nov. 2018. It had been 40 years since I last rode (1970 CB 750 Honda). The weight was intimidating at first, but I adjusted to it. Also, this is a cruiser as opposed to a superbike so it suited my needs better. The engine is noisy (clacker) and the vibration at higher rpm's distracting. I'm looking into the realm of alternative tuning but only if it doesn't interfere with my extended warranty. Steers and handles like a feather, making trips more comfortable. The only concern I have is the front end noise. When I get to cruising speed I pull in the clutch and release the throttle only to hear the metallic sounds emanating from the front wheel. Gonna take a look at the brakes and take off the wheel and inspect the bearing. Other than these issues I love this thing!
Date published: 2019-05-08
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great feel and smooth. I rode this on a demo day and really enjoyed it. I'm 5'10" and found the wind screen a little short. Power all day but wish they added a tacho so I could know the rev range of this thing. Even with the stock pipes it had a nice throaty sound. I also have 30" inseam and found the running boards a little to far forward. Really liked the bike and only have very minor issues with the fit.
Date published: 2019-05-07
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Two up demo. Took my wife for a ride. Buying the motor but upgrading to the touring seat, truck and backrest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Bike! Almost 1 year now and love it as if it was the first. Fell in love with the Springfield the first time I laid eyes on one in Sturgis. 6,500 trouble free wonderful miles without any issues. This bike handles as if its a smaller bike but rides like a big cruiser. All the comfort anyone would ever need/want and the ability to strip down with no windshield or bags. Just beautiful bike that rides like no other.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good looking bike bike looks good and rides nice lots of accessories available
Date published: 2019-04-28
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice ride but doesn’t make me “want it”. I demoed the Springfield at the Laughlin River Run. The ride included a very long steep incline of a couple of miles straight up the hill. This taxed my bike excessively. The suspension was a little soft, too, but it handled very well. I really liked the ergonomics. The bars, seat, and foot placement fit me great. I’m 5’8” and usually have to stretch to the bars but not on the Springfield!
Date published: 2019-04-28
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Feel This is my first bike. I was a bit nervous, being a brand new rider, to buy such a large bike but it is so balanced and rides well. Having hard bags that lock are a must for a woman. I've had people ask to take pics of my bike and people pull up along side of me to tell me how much they like it. I've been riding it for about a week and have put almost 400 miles on it. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bike One of the most beautiful bikes on the road. So, great suspension, smooth and plentiful power, and amazing brakes are a fabulous bonus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bike The Springfield is a great ride, smooth and powerful. Easy clutch pull and engagement with positive gear shifts. Neutral is easy to locate. I love the 6 speed, 2k at 65mph is great. The bike is easy to lean over and keep on track.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2020 chieftain was a blast to ride The new 2020 chieftain models with the 116 thunder stroke is one fast bike. The mode system matched with the 126 really makes this one Baaad bike. (Ooops is my age showing)?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2020 with 116 is a smooth beast. I rode the 2020 Chieftain Limited at a demo event at Fox Motorsports in Grand Rapids MI. In stock trim it was smooth with tons of torque. Wonderful machine. Great fit and finish. I appreciated the lowered rear suspension. It just keeps getting better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very comfortable Fantasic bike with amazing handling and smooth suspension. Only 2 small complaints...helmet buffeting, could use flip windshield. And a bit buzzy through the handlebars at highway speeds, could use rubber mounting or balanced engine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rides like a dream I wanted to try the Chieftan in comparison to my 2016 Indian chief Dark horse. The three ride modes were great and the new seat is comfortable. We had a fantastic test ride and compared to the Harley Heritage 114 I test rode later, the Indian Chieftan was way more fun and more comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweetheart of a bike!! Demo days rider 8-31-19. One I rode was a Gloss black and Chrome beauty. This thing rode like a Cadillac, Powerful 111 Motor, Smooth shifting, Very comfy seat, Minor vibration, But still the BEST of all the bikes I tried out of the Springfield Dark horse, FTR1200,Scout, Scout Bobber(Which I LOVE too), Cheiftan Dark horse 116, And the Limited. Do yourself a favor and try one if you get a chance.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Demo Ride Bad News for the Chiefsin The e-mail went out from my local BMW dealer ( who will be carrying the Indian line September/19) to test the 2019 Chieftain Limited. I thought , why not see how this machine stacks up against my BMW K1600B. While most demo rides are short and really don’t give you the “ full feel” for the bike the 30 minutes in the saddle gave me some immediate concerns. Engine performance: the Chieftain vibrates miserably at 4000 rpm’s!! I know there are vast differences between a six cylinder and a v-twin but come on this is way too much. Engine heat: the 30 minute produced a lot of it and was reminiscent of my ST1300. I wasn’t a fan of the ergonomics but to be fair to the Chieftain a longer prolonged ride would be needed to properly evaluate the controls. The K 1600 B is safe in my garage and has proven to be the far superior machine.I didn’t investigate price point but if they are close the BMW will give you a far better ride, better technology ,engine performance.and more options.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chieftain Limited - 116 Kit Very impressive machine. Redesigned fairing provides great wind protection. This bike had the 116 kit installed and power was available across the entire power band... had no problem keeping up with other bikes. More gadgets then anyone would ever need! Smooth ride, easy shifting, and great handling for a big (900 lb) bagger.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bike The Chieftain Limited was an excellent well balanced bike. It had just enough power in standard and just a little bit more in sport mode. I noticed a change in exhaust note while in sport mode.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bike! Bring on liquid cooling. I demo'd the Chieftain Ltd yesterday and it was a great ride. The engine feels and sound great, the chassis is excellent and the ergos are pretty much spot on. All it needs is liquid cooling as Euro 5 emissions restrictions approach, and to satisfy younger guys like me who grew up on sportbikes and standards and want a cooler running engine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bike for those that are new to big cruisers. Very nimble bike once you get accustomed to the weight. I've always ridden sport bikes and supermotos so this bagger was a whole different experience for me. Great handling, awesome ride quality, nice quiet rumble with the stock exhaust. The brakes are more than adequate, throttle response is great. However, gear shifting was a little clunky and could take getting use to. Overall this bike is the best bang-for-your buck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best in class. Demo days in Maine. This is the best bike I have ever ridden. Love the look of the new saddle and is comfortable for the rider...if carrying a passenger you will want a different one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I was not expecting a smooth ride I went to the demo ride and right away when I saw the Indian Chieftain I just had to do It and take it for a spin. Getting on the bike I wasn’t expecting to be that well balanced I didn’t struggle and the handle bars are super smooth. I did not feel like I was forcing my body to steer the bike it handle well like a champ.

Indian Chieftain Dark Horse
Starting at $27,999 US MSRP
2019 Indian Chieftain Dark Horse Bronze Smoke is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 309.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice, better than Harley, but not my Victory I rode this bike today at a Demo site. Found the standard grips to be uncomfortable, the lack of a heel toe shifter to be annoying, and the engine vibration to unacceptable. Overall, for a tall man (6'3" 255) it fits and that is important. Much better than any of 3 Harleys I also demoed today. Yet I will keep my 2014 Victory Cross Country. Don't know why Indian who I believe has a superior product to Harley Davidson seems to be trying to make bikes more and more like them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Demo Success at Four Corners Rally Ergonomically it was a great fit for my 5’9” frame, lots of touchdown on the pavement. Instructed about the 3 modes - Tour, Standard and Sport - I chose the Sport mode which had tight throttle response ( a little too much for my 1st Demo ride). We rode about 10 miles out of Sky Ute Casino and the Demo guide stopped and asked what I thought. I explained the “jumpiness” in the throttle response and he suggested I switch to Standard mode, and that’s all it took. We glided through the turns and hills like a hot knife through butter. So smooth, very comfortable in turns with downshifting. I picked up speed quickly and placed my hand in front of my face to check windshield placement, it was perfect. Wind hit top of my helmet with no buffeting. Sadly, the second half of the ride brought us back to the casino when I was really starting to have fun with this bike. Thanks for the demo trial. Highly recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Bike! Demoed this bike at 4 corners rally in Ignacio CO. Plenty of power, loved the feel, handled like it was on rails, really like the touch screen and the power windshield. But it was the performance that really makes this bike so good. I got off this bike, went to the Harley demo fleet and rode a Roadglide special for comparison, there is none, this is a superior motorcycle! Limited dealer network and aftermarket support are drawbacks, nearest dealer is 250 miles from my house. Not to mention that it is overpriced.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from THE BEAST!! Demo days test rider 8-30-19. The one I rode was the 116 ci loaded black beast,All the performance upgrades, Motor, Cams, Pipes, Etc. Cushy seat, Nice balance to weight ratio, Big time power, Shifting kind of hard and clunky to me, Quite a bit of vibration through the dash and handlebars. Still a fun bike and glad I tried it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I loved my 2018 I bought my Darkhorse in September of 2017 off of the show room floor at All Out Cycles and have put over 31,000 miles on it in under 2 years. I’ve had several electrical problems but it’s a machine and machines have problems. She has been a good bike and has been enjoyable to ride. I just rode her from Virginia to Sturgis, South Dakota and ended up trading my 2018 Chieftain Darkhorse to a 2019 Chieftain Darkhorse!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good bike, but needs more room I test rode a 2019 Indian Chieftain Dark Horse in Sturgis. I had high hopes as I come from a Victory Cross Country, so that is where my comparison comes from: --Engine: I have "stage 1" on my Victory, and when compared to a stock ThunderStroke 111 my butt dyno couldn't tell a difference. I was hoping for a bit more, sadly. --Fit & Finish: The Indian is great here. Seems like a high quality, well engineered motorcycle (it has Victory DNA, after all). Definitely a quality machine. --Ergonomics: This is where Indian falls flat. I wish they would quit trying to copy Harley Davidson and make a bike that someone 6' 1" tall can easily stretch out on. When riding I had to keep my feet hanging halfway off the front of the floorboards. I do not have to do that on a Victory in order to let my legs stretch a little. Also, my passenger was much closer to me, hugging me almost, than on my Victory. I very much tried to get over the ergonomics differences. In fact I came back the next day and test rode one again with a different mind set. Unfortunately I am completely spoiled by Victory. I was very much willing to spend a lot of money to buy the Indian in Sturgis, unfortunately the ergonomics factor completely turned the Indian bikes into a non-factor for me. That's really too bad. I would only recommend Indian motorcycles to someone shorter than 6-feet tall, or someone that doesn't mind not being able to stretch out a bit while riding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Favorite Bike of all time! As a daily rider, I ride everyday weather permitting. I have already put around 2k on this bike and enjoy it on long trips and around town. The new 116 motor pulls very strong. I have had some minor glitches with the Ride Command 2.0 electronics. It won't sync my contacts on my iphone 11. Also I hear a short burst of audio every time I crank the bike even if it's muted. I am really hoping this will be addressed in a forthcoming software update.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love everything about my Roadmaster! This is the first bike I've owned Deb from the start has been nothing but a pleasure to ride! I've had people follow me for an hour just to find out what it is. And I've had a lot of Harley Owners telling me they're coming our way... my Roadmaster is the best bike I've ever owned. Thank you Polaris for bringing a great and beautiful motorcycle back!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great power and smooth ride This is an awesome bike, the only reason I did not give it 5 stars was because the seat is very uncomfortable. I was told it would get better with time and it has so far but my Harley stock seat was perfect from the start.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected I have had the bike about 5 weeks now and couldn't be happier. Only 4100 km so far but the feel, handling are exceptional and always the center of attention when we stop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 16 states "round" trip This is the third Indian Roadmaster I've owned since 2015. What a bike! I got the second one for the GPS upgrade. This one, I purchased in early May because they finally put out the color scheme I was looking for (Icon). I immediately went on a road trip to see my oldest daughter and grandchildren, and my youngest daughter. In total, 16 States. What a ride. Smooth. Fast. Comfortable. Couldn't ask for more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My 2019 Roadmaster - A Masterpiece. It's only been a little over 6 weeks but I think I've found the best bike I've ever ridden. Wind protection for both myself and passenger is as good or better than anything I have ever made miles on. And that includes 10 years and over 125,000 miles on Goldwings. The riding position for myself is easily the most comfortable I have found. The one negative is my bride and back seater isn't as comfortable as she was on the road sofa aka Goldwing. But we're working on adding accessories to hopefully address that. Happy wife, happy life, right? Been eyeing the Roadmaster since I first saw one in 2015. Looking forward to many miles on this magnificent machine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Some good some bad The gps mapping feature is terrible, seems like old tech. I am still wondering why both mirrors are the 'objects are closer than they appear" type, I find this a bit frustrating. The seat is just ok, I would think a high end bike would have the newest tech and be very comfortable to ride, All that being said this is still a very nice ride! Get lots of compliments on the looks, and it is a beauty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it I bought this bike two months ago and am currently very happy with it. I got back into riding 2 years ago after 38 years off motorcycles. Before buying this bike I went through 2 Harleys (2010 Heritage Classic and 2016 Road Glide Ultra) before buying the Roadmaster. I wanted an Indian from the very first but settled for the Harleys. After being away from riding for so long I wanted to buy used initially but couldn’t find what I wanted in the used motorcycle market so I settled on the Heritage and after a while upgraded to the Road Glide. I never was satisfied with the Harleys. They were both good bikes, they just weren’t what I wanted. I finally “bit the bullet” and put down the money for a new bike and got what I wanted all along (Indian Roadmaster). I’m so happy that I did. The styling is unsurpassed while the ride is significantly better than either of the Harleys. Additionally, the Roadmaster is comparable in size and weight to the Road Glide but it has the feel getting off the stand and at low speed more like the Heritage (a 200 lb lighter bike). At highway speed it’s more comparable to the Road Glide but with significantly better rear suspension. My kidneys can really tell the difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Some nice motorcycle compared to Harley This is my first Indian. Have previously had 20 new Harley Davidsons since 1993. The last three were CVO Ultras. The Indian rides better, handles better, and has more items standard then the Harley Ultra Limited. If you are looking to purchase a new motorcycle don’t overlook the Indian. Ride one and you will be impressed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Replacement for my 2017 RM Much improved over my 2017 that I loved until I totalled it in a MVA in Texas. 116 motor with rear cyl. cutoff is excellent. The 111 ran way too hot. The new display features are great for my old eyes. Though the electronics boots up slow. Display is much clearer and cleaner looking. One thing I miss is the MPG reading which was on the 17. Bring it back. The drive modes, I guess, are good for the trick electronics focused kids. Not a plus for me. The GPS is also updated with weather/traffic layers that are handy. But will you please, please, please add the roadways MPH which Google/Waze and Harleys have!!! Another change made that I would like returned are the spring pin system for side bag removal. You now have to remove allan key screws. Not a deal breaker, but not as convenient. Beside a few listed items, the bike has been good. Only have a couple thousand miles on this new one so far. I average 15k+ miles a year, so time will tell how dependable it is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The complete package The 2019 Roadmaster comes with all the "necessities" of a full time rider. The derby, breather and all covers coming with signature Indian signatures or headdress, the chromed out switch covers, interface on the display screen, the features usually added cost came standard on the Roadmaster. It is a sweet ride and represents my second Indian purchase, my 2017 Springfield is companion in my garage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic motorcycle! I bought this bike for a 10 day road trip planned with friends for June 2020. We all know how that has turned out. This is the 4th Indian motorcycle I have owned. This being the 2nd Roadmaster. I have owned 3 other Indians, all being of the 111cc or the 116cc family. I have no complaints with any of them. They all have been wonderful bikes to own and ride. This bike has the perfect suspension! The ride is what I would describe as a "magic carpet". Rough surface roads are gobbled up effortlessly. Fuel mileage is steady between 45 and 49 MPG. Performance is outstanding for a bike of this size and weight. The bike draws looks and comments every place I go. Truly distinctly designed to ride into the future and protect it's past.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the Roadmaster The Roadmaster replaced a Victory Vision, which I loved, but wanted newer features. The handling and power are excellent - both improvements - and the technology package is amazing. I didn't think the keyless feature would be a big deal, but now I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top notch touring ride This is my 2nd Roadmaster. The first was a 2017 model I bought used with 18K on it. I put another 47K on it before a unexpected encounter with a deer totaled it. So I know what I was getting. My 2019 is a pleasant surprise with a notable increase in responsivness. I like the 3 selectible riding modes. It turns heads everywhere it goes. I couldn't be happier with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the Look - Miss the Classic Fairing This is my 4th Roadmaster. I love the aggressive modern look of this model, but after riding it daily for a few months I am missing the wind protection that I was accustomed to with the classic fairing. To be specific it's not wind over the fairing but under, coming by the tank and hitting me underneath my helmet. No combination of lower vent positions change this. I now am wearing goggles and thinking about a full face helmet. I love these bikes, but am having some buyers remorse to the point that I am thinking about trading out of it after just a few months. A few other let downs were: I had to buy the passenger pegs, and luggage rack as these were not included in stock like the other Roadmaster. Also the new style bags don't seem as solid as the previous ones. Everything else aside I like the aggressive look, and the 116 power is very nice!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Demo days test ride I was very curious about this bike. I have a Victory Cross Roads Classic and this is basically what my bike became after the production stop of Victory. The bike was the most comfortable of the 3 that I demoed; Roadmaster, Chieftain LTD, and Springfield. The seat was a bit further back than the other 2 giving me more leg room so I didn't feel as cramped, although still not as much room as my Victory. I would have to go with an extended reach seat to be more comfortable. I also wasn't happy with the position of the instrument cluster. It was positioned to far down on the fuel tank so in order to see it I had to look down and take my eyes off the road to see it. Having it mounted higher on the tank, or as a gauge between the handle bars would be a better spot for it. That way just a quick glance will give you everything you need to see.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This bike has tons of power and torque Took part in the demo ride and this beast was one of the first I got to ride, it is in my top three with the other being the classic and the roadmaster. After riding and discussing with the lead and trail riders whom both are long term indian owners I look forward to putting one of my three selections in my garage

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ride in the rain I took a test ride this afternoon, unfortunately it was raining. I found the Springfield easy to ride and saw it's potential as a long distance friend. However, the rain and the traffic I was riding in made my test ride feel even shorter than it was.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fit I had sat on the Springfield in the showroom and did not like the position of the handlebars. The Demo bike had them set a little higher and fit me perfectly. The windshield blocked enough wind to make the ride comfortable without feeling like I was following a sail. I would have liked the full fenders on this bike

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Springfield Dark Horse The Springfield is super comfortable, smooth, powerful and sexy! Easily my favorite one tested during demo days and the matte white with the blacked out engine is beautiful!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to ride, even for a girl It's a bit big for me, but I felt I could control it and I felt safe on it. It's a sexy bike and brought a big smile to my face while riding.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it with big bore installed I have been riding my 2017 Chieftain Limited for 2 years this month and still love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Springfield Awesome! This is my second test ride on the springfield. I've been vacillating between two touring models. This nimble quick to respond ride is exceptional in many ways. Impressed with the comfort and position of the controls, the instant throttle response, virtually silent transmission shifting, and of course the style.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Loved the "ride mode" feature...hated the color! Loved the "ride mode" feature...sport mode throttle response was very impressive. Hated the ugly White Horse paint and chrome-less look and instrument gauge. Also, why no crash bars on front and rear like other Springfield's have??? Love my 2015 two-tone red/black Vintage...keeping it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice ride Completed the demo ride on the Dark Horse. Lots of power and comfortable. Prefer ape hanger handle bars than the stock ones on the bike. The bike handles well and nice in the curves

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Kelowna demo ride on the Dark Horse Good smooth power, excellent brakes and great ride overall. The handle bars were not in the best position for my frame and I would also prefer a windshield.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dark Horse Springfield The Springfield rides great, just didn't like where the back brake was, too high for me, but over all it was great.
Date published: 2019-05-03
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Handling! The Springfield has the larger 19" front wheel and trimmed down front fender, and you can really feel it on turn in. It just intuitively goes to the apex of the curve, smooth and effortless. A fine running machine with an engine seemingly from a locomotive!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I went for a demo ride today For a big bike it handled very well. All the controls were right where I wanted them and the acceleration was great. The only problem that I had was that at 5’ 10” I had to practically sit on the tank to reach the kick stand and had a hard time finding it to put it down.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfy and stylish I rode the Springfield Dark Horse about twenty miles total at a demo day. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to handle and by the effortless power. I've ridden plenty of Harleys as well and the Indian is a better ride by far. The suspension soaked up bumps and the bike actually seems happy to go around corners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing motorcycle! That bike it’s just amazing. From comfortability to horse power, all numbers are way high. The bike is a silent monster. You feel like you pretty much own the road. It’s definitely a bike to enjoy the ride.

Date published: 2020-05-07

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprising handling for a big tourer! Great value and styling. One of the best tourers I’ve ridden. Beautiful styling and extremely smooth comfortable ride. Engine heat is a little much, but overall outstanding motorcycle!
