2022 FTR 1200
I purchased this bike a couple weeks ago and although I do not have a lot of miles on it yet, I really enjoy the comfort of the FTR 1200. I have been riding for 41 years and I have owned a lot of motorcycles. I sold my last bike 6 years ago believing I would never own another one. After seeing the FTR in person, doing research and the taking a test ride, I was hooked and had to have one. It has more than enough power and I was very excited about the riding position and comfort. I'm 57yrs. old and I get upper back and shoulder paid and I have not experienced it at all when I ride. I purchased the base model because I really like the black smoke color and I'm not a fan of electronics. I couldn't be happier with my purchase!

Awesome Bike
I bought my FTR in April. It has a little over 1000 miles now. It's stylish and comfortable for me. I've ridden up to 250 miles in a day without feeling like I've just ridden 250 miles. I definitely recommend this bike to others and have gotten many good comments on the road.

fail but nice
i bought bike new. dealship gave me wrong one. they switched for the correct one. finally get to start up the bike after being on the road for two months. bike fails to start. have lights and full battery. have the trickle charge plug ready to plug in but find out it doesn’t seem to connect to battery. thinking battery was bad try to find replacement but couldn’t. call dealership and find out last time they looked at bike was in september. i got bike in march. after many hours googling problem came to find out polaris didn’t install the fuses very well and the fuse and relay for starter popped out. pushes in all fuses and now bike is running great. added a traction selector to bike now it’s becoming a great bike.

Amazing Bike!
I had a HD Night Rod Special before buying this bike, and I didn’t like the riding angle too much, or the way it handled, and bought this bike to replace it. I’ve got to say.. It is the most comfortable bike I’ve ever been on. The riding angle is perfect, and it handles phenomenal! It keeps pressure off my knees and lower back which is a huge plus.

Wow!
I picked up this bike a week ago. Already have 200 miles on it. This is a super fun bike. I've been riding motorcycles for over 50 years and this thing makes me smile every time. Fit and finish is excellent along with a two year warranty. Can't beat that. Not a lot of aftermarket parts but hopefully the vendors will take notice. I've never had any stalling issues with my bike. It's a great machine.

Great power
After getting some miles on the the biggest thing I can say is that this bike is amazing. It handles well and looks like nothing else on the road. The only downfall in my opinion is when getting into longer rides, the fuel range is a little short (120-140 miles) and the stock seat starts to create a high pressure spot on the back of the legs on the edges. Other than that the bike handles highway speeds well and I can’t wait to see how it handles at higher elevations.

I cannot describe how much I enjoy having something that goes as fast as it looks. This bike is mean, and with the right pipe on it, sounds mean. It goes fast, and looks cool. What more can I ask for from an investment :) Great compliment to my Chieftain in the garage. And its great to have a bike that stands out in a crowd of black Street Glides.

Very fun bike
This bike is an absolute blast to ride. I'm a taller rider so the handle bar set-up is comfortable for me. The power to weight ratio of this bike is perfectly dialed in. The top end torque is impressive and exhilarating. Only minor issue I've had is it struggles a bit until reaching operating temperature, sometimes misfiring. I get excited every time I pull it out of the garage for a ride!

All I thought it would be
I bought my ftr in August and have just now hit my 500 mile service. Bad weather and bad timing due to life has slowed the miles from flying by. After my service I have made a pledge to ride every chance I can. This motorcycle is a torque monster. The motor has no problem with low end as well as high end. Ample power is available at any point in time that you need it. I am very happy with my purchase. And as I said in the review title, it’s all I thought it would be... and then some. The only complaint I have is the bulky looking rear fender/license plate holder. It wasn’t a problem though. I relocated all of it under the seat and eliminated the bulky looking assembly. everything I wanted in a motorcycle the ftr 1200 has provided. It’s an awesome ride and can get the adrenaline pumping without breaking a sweat. Thank you Indian. It’s like you customized this bike just for me. Awesome.

I bought this bike as my 2nd bike and it sure lives up to its name. It has plenty of power and acceleration, and it has a command tall seating position. Fastest Bike I have ever owned, and I have many different bikes over the years. You will be pleased my the Performance of this machine, it is good value for the money, and much better than other American make competitors.

No regrets buying
Enjoy riding everytime I'm on it. Has the right amount of power and control for me. It's a beautiful clean bike overall. A lot of details.
This is actually my first on-road bike. Depending on the person, I wouldn't recommend to new riders with no experience. This bike can easily eat a person whole if they don't respect it nor understand the fundamentals of riding. Ftr has a range of about 120 miles per tank for me, not for long distance cruising for most.
Somethings I don't like are the cold starts, it will idle rough and usually stalls engine with the stock ECU. It's a common issue that can easily be resolved. Catalytic converter and stock muffler are ugly and bulky.
I would love to see more 1st/3rd party after market parts/upgrades. Should have 600-750cc variant also.

Exciting Motorcycle
From the first, visual impression of the FTR1200, it’s an amazing machine. The styling and dirt track DNA immediately drew me in. Once the 1203cc engine fires up and the throaty rumble of the S&S exhaust graces your ear drums you quickly realize that this bike isn’t all looks, it’s even more about performance. The bike pulls hard from a start, but wakes up at speed when the motor revs above 6k. On a quick weekend trip to the mountains, I rode 255 miles on the highway to a secluded cabin. No problem. Cruise control is a blessing. Once in the mountains, I hit the back gravel roads and immediately felt like I could power slide and drift every corner. The FTR instills confidence as it is so stable and loves to go sideways. Then I hit the pavement of the windy mountain roads. With a 45 degree lean angle carving the curves at speed was a blast. For the price rang of the FTR, anyone would be hard pressed to find a better looking, more versatile bike. 5 stars.

This bike delivers and just feels special
I bought this bike at the start of spring and haven't been able to stop riding it since. The power, handling and character all combine for a thrilling but balanced ride. The style is authentic and sporty. My other poor other bikes have just been sitting now. I can't find any flaws with this bike unless I nitpick. I am happy to see Indian going a new direction and making something cool instead of just then another "crusier". This V-Twin is just superb and the bike makes you feel special. Well done Indian and I couldn't be happier with this machine.

Miles of smiles!
Ever since the 2019 I have been in love with the look of the FTR. Wasn’t until YT personalities were reviewing the 2022 I realized it was time to make the jump. The bike is smooth, responsive, and sounds wonderful. In the moment I threw my leg over I felt like I was one with the bike. I would’ve really liked it if there was navigation on the control. Personally I would’ve liked the foot controls a little more centered but it’s not a dealbreaker for me. Wife and kids did sat the passenger pegs could also be a little lower.
Overall I am more than happy with the Bike.

Fun, powerful bike with great features
I have had it a few months now. Really enjoy the ride. My other ride is an FZ-07. This feels like the big brother to that type of bike. Fun is the biggest feature. The handling is intuitive and there is power in ANY gear. Like most owners, I have done a few things to make it my own, but you could ride it stock and be happy with it. A couple of my minor nit-picks are that the clutch lever is not adjustable, and there is no storage at all. Not even a place to put your insurance card and registration.

A Fun Motorcycle, but there are flaws
I have had the FTR1200S Race Replica for nearly two months now and it has been a fantastic ride. It is balanced, it is powerful, it is a great handling machine. However, the issue that this machine has lies within the engine tuning. It is of course designed to be leaned out to meet emissions and also the first gen engine does have injectors in a different point within the head than the new. This does mean this machine is not hop and dash what-so-ever, which can be an issue from time to time. It wants it's time to heat up to about 140 with stock equipment to get running happy and not hiccup. Try to go earlier and it will make you pay with fueling hiccups and stalls. Although this does not hurt my perception of an exceptional machine it is something that is a bit of an over sight from the engineers.

ONE OF A KIND BIKE
Love the look, except the rear fender. Wish they did something different. There is no storage at all, not even for a registration or insurance card. There is loads of power and super fun to ride. Upright position is great once I switched to the Rally bars. Great information display even in direct sunlight. Throttle a little touchy but I think there is an update for this. The tires are surprisingly grippy even on dirt or gravel roads. Can easily ride until you need gas which is usually about 100-120 miles. Slight negative on the fuel fill up but not terrible. The tank could be bigger for sure. Well balanced, wheelies easy until you become used to it. Too quiet. I needed to remove the baffles but all in all highly recommended

Back Road Heaven
I'm really enjoying this bike. I like to carve twistie back roads and this bike does it better than most (I have owned over 50 motorcycles in my life). Power is very good, particularly low end grunt pulling out of corners. It may seem a little tall to some but the little extra height and the wide bars make it a delight to ride on roads with lots of transitioning from side to side. While I know it is not a "true" flat tracker, the styling is flat track. And that styling carries some inherent behavior with it so when the road turns to gravel or dirt this bike is very comfortable. The flat-ish seat that blends into the tank makes it easy to move back and forth transferring weight from one tire to the other depending on what you are doing. I'm not a wheelie guy, but if that is your thing this bike does them easily. And when it's time to hit the slab to get from one set of twisties to the next, there is cruise control. Such a nice addition.
My only issues are driven by the EPA or the DOT or some other Gov't agency. I find the exhaust to be too quiet for such a muscle bike and the mirrors don't work very well for my height and build. These are pretty minor complaints for a bike that I find just about perfect in every other aspect. It has taken a lot of years and a lot of bikes, but I may have found my perfect bike. I hope others enjoy it as much as I do.

Great Motorcycle
I finally pulled the trigger an bought the exact motorcycle I wanted!
I love the seating position, and the engine pulls like a freight train at any RPM. The build quality is great with quality materials and construction used though out the bike.
Initially had some cold start issues that were easily resolved with a PV3 tuner from DynoJet and Fuel Moto. I also added a S&S slip-on exhaust, and a Corbin tail tidy to move the liscense plate under the seat.
The TFT digital display is great, easy to read in any light and super informative, it can also link to your phone and helmet speakers.

Almost perfect
The good: The bike that needed to be made. Great power, handling and features. A joy to ride and to look at. The bad: 90 mile distance to the gas station gets old. The fueling is. Joke, needs to idle for 5 minutes until the temp gets to 160 because if not it will stall on you. It stalls several times at idle and for a Fi bike, no reason for that. My engine light came on and when I took it to the dealer they charged me 35 bucks to clear it. It came on AGAIN, but turned off on its own. I hope it doesn’t come on again. And lastly, this is my first and only bike which doesn’t have a quick key release for the seat? Why not? Now I can’t store little stuff and where do I put my insurance ID card? Oh wait, not last, I wish I had an option to remove the baffles off of the exhaust.

I made the mistake of buying my bike in February. February in Kansas is the worst part of winter. I haven't had many chances to ride it and most of the work I have done on it is change the muffler from stock and the mirrors also. The couple of times I have been on the bike have been really nice. People take notice of it and want to talk about it.

Feels Like Americana
I was unsure what to make of the complaints about the cold blooded nature of this bike. Since I live in FL it wasn’t ever going to be cold enough to really matter though. I don’t mind waiting a few minutes while it warms up to start my journey. Usually start the Ftr and put on my jacket an gloves. Then I mount my phone and and ready to ride. The bike warms up pretty quickly in the 60-70 temperature. Once I’m riding the bike is a ton of fun to ride. The low end torque means you don’t have to really be precise in gear selection as the v-twin just pulls right along. Reminds you of a v-8 Mustang/Camaro.
It’s not the fastest or best handling bike money can buy but I bought it to cruise around town and have fun on.
I picked this Indian over the Bmw NineT because it’s just more of everything that’s fun about this type of bike.

Great concept and performance
I love the bike, installing lots of extras - which are easy to install, albeit pricey. Things I like: Touch screen (and USB port), power, styling, exhaust isn't obnoxious and it is decently comfortable for shorter rides. Things I don't like: cold starts, stock tires are a bit slick, and the comfort of the seat. I purchased the rally seat as it is slightly more comfortable, but I wouldn't go on rides over 200 miles with either seat and expect to have a non-numb booty.
I am expecting Indian to provide an ECU flash to fix the cold start issue (yes, it is really an issue). Indian - please help us with this. We all would appreciate it (especially in the northern states). This is my reason for giving it 4 stars.

I traded in my Ducati Monster because I loved the look of this machine. It’s nimble, very torquey and very fun. Once you’re done with the break in period, switch it to sport mode and be amazed at the power. The stock tires are a little loosely goosey in the corners. I rode it through the rain of a tropical storm, rain mode sure got its test and performed outstandingly. It turns a lot of heads and props a lot of questions. Highly recommend to anyone.

Lot of fun but ride is jerky and throws off too mu
Bought a month ago, traded in a CBR600RR so the change was pretty stark. I know it will take time to get used to the lumbering acceleration but I’m getting there. Really don’t like the intense heat thrown onto my heights during hot days, but didn’t notice as much during a cool day drive. Not sure if it’s normal but there is a cycling rhythm that’s pretty annoy, ing. Maybe it’s a loose change that will be fixed when I have the 500 mile service. Feels like the engine is missing very methodically. Lastly, no fault of the bike, it’s just slightly too tall for me and I can’t get both feet flat on the ground. Thought that wouldn’t matter but it puts a good bit of pressure on my legs when standing at stops.

Absolute monster of a machine. Handles like a dream, GREAT power from idle to redline. My former bikes are cruisers and sport bikes, and this is by far the most fun I’ve had on two wheels. It could be louder, but I’m about to fix that

Point n shoot…. With a twist
It’s been 2 months since I bought my Carbon R, light, agile and blindingly quick, handles predictively in corners and very forgiving
10/10 would recommend

Fantastic engine, chassi but lacking features
500 miles in about six weeks. Lots of power and agility in a completely predictable and reliable ride. It’s fast! Great build quality and finish. Not only that, but it is beautifully designed too!
The negative is that some features considered normal in a top of the line product like this are missing, not even existing as optional. These are;
1. No GPS support in the dash. Highly irritating.
2. Levers are not adjustable. It would be so easy to include this from the start.
3. Fuel cap comes loose when opened. What were you thinking?
4. Old school metal key. Keyless, at least as an option, would have been more in line with the times.
All these things considered, I still love the bike.
Did I say it is beautiful too? And fast!

Bought it and love the bike. It accelerates and corners like nothing else I have ever owned. The technology is helpful and not in the way of the riding experience at all.

Awesome Bike
This really is an amazing bike. Overall the bike is incredible. Really feels like a true naked sport bike. It's could use a little more top end power to truly compete in this class but power isn't everything. The Ohlin suspension is great to say the least. Overall fit and finish of the bike is very good. The color theme of the bike is spot on as a factory race replica and love all of the true carbon fiber body work. I do wish Indian would have included for carbon accents rather than making us buy them as accessories. It is called the Carbon after all. It make a great addition to the garage next to my Challenger.Love that's it's an American made quality motorcycle.

Good all around bike
Have a little over 1000 miles since purchasing a few weeks ago.
Bike handles great, smooth linear performance.
Great looking l, brakes, suspension too.
The only negatives
1)The bike will randomly stall at traffic lights at least 2 or 3 times on a typical riding day.
2) I bought the FTR Carbon and thought I’d have m upgraded nice seat. No such luck the seat is beyond miserable after 100 miles in the saddle.
Have a Corbin on order, hope that solves it.
Other than those two items that I’d love solved , the bike is awesome

Love this Bike!
I bought my FTR R Carbon about a month ago. Due to some really poor weather conditions I just got through my 500 mile break in period the other day. This bike is an absolute blast to ride! The power is outstanding. The handling is amazing. And the bike is gorgeous! Lots of people have no idea what it is and have never seen one. Get out to a demo if you have the oppurtunity. I think you may just decide that you need one of these in your stable.

Just as I had hoped for!
I'm not one to carry on, but I bought my 2022 FTR R Carbon after some seriously exhaustive research. There are lots of bikes that really do compete in one area or the other. I felt that for me, there was not another bike that offered even 2/3 of what I valued as important. (aesthetics, build quality, performance, usable features) I would say that, overall, aesthetically, there were zero peers for this machine, though there are some very nice alternatives. I really like the content put into this machine, I don't like buying something only to start buying more things. I did add ProTaper handlebars from the Rally model, but that was all I had changed prior to delivery. To be fair, the fuel tank size is tragically, embarrassingly small. But (keeping in the vein of full disclosure) I don't plan on long, cross country rides, so this wasn't a deciding factor for me, personally. I don't see me getting rid of this one for the foreseeable future, as she is a keeper!

It really is all the hype says it is
I am so happy I decided to go with the 2022. Not that there is anything wrong with the previous models. However those little tweaks have made handling so great. The big difference Being if you get yourself in trouble in a corner you can lean forward over the bars/tank/airbox and that front rake with the 17” front, bails you out of trouble and is forgiving. The styling is nice.

I have about 2k miles on mine so far and absolutely love it! Only thing it’s lacking is gps functionality on the ride command. It’s the only ride command system without it! Also a retune to smooth out the engine surging would be nice.

A sweet sweet bike
got this about a month ago and have 1500 miles so far. I love EVERYTHING about this bike EXCEPT......... the heat BUT at when moving the heat goes away (unless you touch the frame on the right side... ouch). Id wish the seat had some heat resistant shielding under it or something to help with the booty heat but other than that its great. OH and get some parts on cyclegear! i want to buy stuff for this bike but it is still not available on their website, I would love to buy some Roland Sands stuff for it.

Unique bike in regard to looks and engine. Sure seems like 170 hp to me. Handles and brakes well. Carbon version seat not as comfortable. Don't need a quick shifter never had a bike that clustchless shifts as well. Only real down side is the 3.5 gallon fuel tank Filling up every ride/ 100 miles Micky Mouse mirrors have to go unfortunately the Rizoma accessory mirrors still back ordered Would have been nice to have them available when bike released

Great bike
I always liked the FTR, when I wanted to add a third motorcycle and when I found the FTR R Carbon I knew I wanted one. I liked some of the changes to the 2022 but not all of them. I liked the lowered seat height, at 5'11" I can flat foot so the old seat height would have been fine but I may have no been able to flat foot it.
I also like is the 17 inch rims because of the tire selection, the stock tire is a quality tire. The Ohlins suspension is very good, I wont be taking this bike to the track but I am very happy with the suspension.
So far my biggest complaint is the welded cat and having t o drill a hole in the mufflers to remove the baffle. My other complaints are very minor like the bezzels on the ride command are very large, also when removing the license plate bracket the frame wasn't painted underneath. My last critique is that the stock seat could be more comfortable, it is a good looking seat with the FTR logo on it and I dont want to swap it out but I might have to.
Overall it is a well rounded feature packed bike that looks very good. I am glad I got one of the 750 Carbons.

I originally went to a demo event to try the new chief, and had no intentions of ever owning an FTR. And then I rode one. I put down my deposit as soon as the test ride was over. This has quickly become my favorite ride in my stable.

I love everything about it except the seat height - I am 6'4" and while I understand Indian had to "fix" the average inseam problem, it doesn't fit me as is. But that is fixable. The only thing that would make it better is if it was belt drive and made in East Troy, Wisconsin. But oh yeah - that is why I bought my FTR in the first place.

big guy on a small bike !
I am a 380lbs. 6 foot 2 inch man. the scout 60 fits me fine and has no power issues packing me around. I die add the extended reach seat. also, an 8 in app hanger would be best for taller riders.
the reason for the one star us based on the shocks, and mirror arms. I belive there could have been a way better stock shock added to this bike then what's on it now. also, the mirror arms are short. makes it difficult to adjust for tall riders.
over all the scout 60 is a great beginner bike. and with modifications, it can be a great town bike. not to sure about long highway runs yet.

Rides as good as it looks!
This bike is a ton of fun. It's a middleweight cruiser that handles and feels very light and nimble. It's got tons of power too! The looks of the bike are awesome as well (I constantly get compliments from friends and complete strangers). The only two (minor) complaints I have are that the stock seat is a bit rough and the stock exhaust note could be better (I personally like a louder note, but not all will agree). Those issues are in no way reasons not to get the bike though, and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in a cruiser!

surprising power & agility
Scout Sixty is considered an entry level bike, that may be true, but I see no reason to "upgrade". I love the minimalist look and retro feel, & with low CG and perfect rake, it is extremely nimble and agile, but still smooth enough for long trips... plus it has the power to run with any bike I have encountered.
love it.

I bought my Scout 60 in July. I’m 59 and I’ve been riding since I was 10 years old. I previously owned a 1200 Sportster and decided I would try an Indian. Wow!! What an amazing bike. The steering and suspension are amazing . The power brings a smile to my face. This bike is for the young and the old. There’s nothing sharper out there. Great at what its meant to be
Own a ‘21 scout sixty and absolutely love it. It is easy to handle making it great for any level of rider. Power is great for the size. Long trips are rough on the body without significant aftermarket upgrades and passengers wont like it, period. Exhaust is weak and is laughable but some slip ons change that no problem. Overall cant ask for anything more for $9400 and its surprising you get as much as you do.

Have owned the scout 60 for a little over a month and am extremely satisfied with it. Added a tank bag, 21 inch quick release wind screen, and footboards to replace the stock pegs. Slight adjustment on the shifter to allow foot under the shifter and all was good. Excellent handling and ease of use. Power is good making throttle response and acceleration feel lively. Sound is muted but removing the baffles cured that issue. Overall look is beautiful and the accessories are available to make it your own.

Nearly perfect
Outstanding sales rep and mechanic at Bestline in State College PA made my purchase a pleasant one.
I would offer two suggestions to Indian:
1. Provide a gas gauge. Please!
2. A slightly lower first gear would be welcome. Starting out on gravel or grass often results in either overly slipping the clutch (irritating), or stalling the bike
(embarrassing).
The snap on one of my otherwise gorgeous tan saddle bags is not sewn properly, so that the flap does not lay flat.
Not a big issue, perhaps, but for bags that cost over one thousand dollars…!?

The characteristics of this engine are extremely impressive. The noise and feel it gives off makes me smile. It's smooth classy at low speeds and when you open it up on the freeway it shows it's teeth. The roar it makes touches the soul. Found myself giggling inside my helmet as I flew through a heavy downpour at 80mph on the way back from the dealership. Being a soldier means having to put up with things that most civilians would think ridiculous, but to us it's only work. No matter what happens I can always get on my bike and feel better. Work hard play hard. I'm 5'10" and this bike fits me perfectly. I was worried at first that due to the low ground clearance I would be dragging on tight turns, but that isn't the case. The clutch is very good and what's this, a USB port!!! How many other brands and modern designs don't automatically include this or make you pay extra to get it? Owned it less than a month and had over a dozen people tell me I have a nice bike. Yes, indeed I do. I'll be spending some money to accessorize this to my liking, speaking of which, a great many companies offer parts so the options are limitless. Going full speed towards my first service I'll be doing my own oil using the Indian brand oil change kit they offer.

My First Indian Motorcycle.
I have had this 2022 maroon metallic Scout ABS for a few months. I wanted something with a decent size liquid cooled twin engine and on the lighter side for weight.
There is a lot about the Scout that I like. The powerful engine, 6 speed tranny that shifts better than anything I have had previously, the fuel economy, vintage look, maneuverability, brand name accessories, and where it is built.
The paint, fit and finish are high quality.
The motor is very responsive and it does provide a subtle rumble. This isn't a loud thumper with the stock exhaust. I get in the 50s for gas mileage so fuel economy is great!
I bought the Indian extended reach seat and that proved to be comfortable, I haven't got sore riding for an hour.
The speedometer has digital functions like tach, clock, trip meter, odometer, and even a battery gage. This is switched via a toggle lever near the left side handlebar grip.
I have been impressed with how well this Scout handles! It's nimble. The brakes work very well with no skidding but excellent stopping power.
I like the vintage look with the long fenders. These bikes are customizable with many options for seats, handlebars, headlights, windshields. The accessories from Indian motorcycle have all fit well.
This is my favorite of any bike I have owned. And it's built in midwest America.

I lucked out even finding this bike! I have been waiting two year. the first time I sat on one two years ago. I knew it was perfect. What I didn’t know is the power, handling ability, and snap that this bike has.
Perfectly balanced, easy to maneuver, and quick doesn’t explain this bike.
I have had makes and females alike stop to ask about it.
Even ‘die-hard’ bikers from that other major manufacturer that want to go test out their local dealerships now!
I added a few aftermarket items, wind deflector/ shield, front rider floor boards instead of pegs, changed the shifter and brake pegs to a flat style peg, locking leather bags, and slip on pipes, .... I am sure there is something else too ...
The sales team and everyone at NorthAmerican Warhorse we’re phenomenal! Joe, Kenny, Tim all were fantastic and I would recommend them to anyone as they know what they are talking about.

2020 Indian Scout 100th Anniversary - Best bike
I have only owned 4 other motorcycles but now that I am retired, I own the best. This Special Edition Indian Scout is the nicest motorcycle I have ever owned. The speed and power are unbelievable and I can't park it anywhere without people coming up to me to talk about this beautiful bike. Beig vertically challenged, I had a reducer reach seat and foot controls added and this bike fits me like a glove. I was a bit concerned about purchasing this bike as I had not owned a motorcycle for some years, but it was so easy to become comfortable on it. After the test ride, I was sold and couldn't wait to take delivery. It hasn't disappointed me and I am very particular with what I buy. I have since ordered the Quick Release Windshield and am waiting for that to arrive. I would highly recommend the Indian Scout to anyone looking to get into a great, easy to ride motorcycle

Great ride! Poor starting
The motorcycle is a great ride with plenty of power. The only concern I have is that I never know when it will start and when it won't. This causes some anxiety whenever I take it anywhere and will be turning it off as I do not know how I will be returning home. That being said I have not had the chance to take it to the shop to have them repair the issue either.

Great Bike!
I bought my 2021 Indian Scout about a month ago. Excellent Machine! Handles great, I love it. I’ve been riding motorcycles a long time, I’ve owned a few different brands, Indian Motorcycles are well made!

It fits me perfectly !
I bought it about 2 months ago so I could ride with my son. He lost his riding partner. He had to move away for his new job. We have had a blast riding together. The Scout fits me perfectly and I am truly enjoying getting out to ride again. I am looking forward to adding a few amenities to truly make it mine….

Excellent bike
I bought the bike about two months ago, and have put about 1500 miles on it since purchase. It's a real pleasure to ride, plenty of power, smooth, and a head-turner. Two things Indian could do better on future models: (1) add a helmet lock; (2) add a center-stand. The former of these is easy enough to add on yourself. The latter is essential if you're going to do any serious work on the bike yourself.

I love the power range. Plenty of low end torque
I am happy with my purchase. I needed a lighter bike that was comfortable and this bike meets my needs. Concerns are small gas tank, lack of fork lock, no engine shut off with kick stand down. It feels a little light at highway speeds 75/80 but I anticipated this.

I bought this a month ago and still only have about 700 miles on it. I'm very impressed with the responsive throttle and amazing power! It handles beautifully and it is very comfortable on the day trips I take it on whenever I can. It is a perfect contrast to my Vintage!

Newbie rider loving the bike overall
I'm a brand new rider and ordered this bike even before I had my license. I now have about 1,700 miles on this bike in a couple of months. I had researched it well in advance. I originally ordered a scout 60 but this one came in stock first and I went with it. So glad I did as this is not too much engine for a newbie like me.
I like that I'm not hunched over like I would have been on the bobber.
I do not like the stock seat or suspension. Seat is painful to me after 30 minutes and hitting any bumps is bone jarring on the spine. I'm upgrading both eventually.
The stock exhaust sounds like a vacuum cleaner is running so I installed slip-ons myself.
I wish all Indians came with the headdress on the tank. I removed my Indian Scout badge, went bare a bit, then added the headdress.
I think the Scout is also the only bike that doesn't come with floorboards but rather just pegs. I've ordered these to upgrade.
I'm annoyed that in order to change the air filter you must remove the gas tank. What a major pain that is going to be.
I do wish the fuel tank was a bit bigger as I seem to have to fill up ever 120 miles or so to be safe.
Overall, I love the way it rides and I've even had Harley owners stop and tell me they were thinking of switching, this bike looked cool, etc. Love the ride overall.
(Tried uploading photos but no matter what I did I could not meet this site's guidelines. Too tall, too narrow, too large.)

Love it. Reminds me of my younger days.
I have been playing with and loving motorcycles since I was 12. I am now 72. Although It is a modern motorcycle, I love the relative simplicity of it. Not a lot of unneeded electronics. I spent 25 years in the USCG and owned beaucoup motorcycles, sometimes 3 at a time. This one is a keeper. It kind of reminds me of my first motorcycle.

Best decision
I've had my Scout since September and I have to say it gets better and better the more I ride it. I carefully reviewed several other bikes before my purchase and knew it was the best choice for me. It has superb handling and is a looker as it's always getting stares lol. Even though I had to wait so long it was totally worth it. Indian also supported me with a gift when I purchased because I was a veteran. A+ to a company that show its support for military. Thank you!

I bought my very first bike to celebrate my 40th birthday. It's the 2022 Scout Bobber 20. I absolutely love the feeling of being on it. I ordered all my upgrades at that time. Indian makes a gorgeous bike. There are a few things I'd wish were different.
If you're looking for a loud bike, you need aftermarket pipes. There's is NO fuel display... Completely mind blowing. So, do quick math or set your odometer to track it... Polaris, get with the program and fix this.
For order turn around time: I ordered the bike on mAy 14, and it came in Aug 07. Everything was put on at the dealership, and it's gorgeous. I'm still waiting on footboards, as of Oct 17.
From start to finish, the sales team was so wonderful and kept me in the loop as they new things. Indian of Marietta was amazing

I ordered my bike on 2/25/22 and picked it up 8/09/22. This was a very long wait in my opinion but I'm thrilled with what I received. I love this bike and don't ever see me selling it or trading it in for another. I went with the thunder black metallic finish cause I didn't see spending this type of money for something that looks like it's primers regardless of how some people think that finish is attractive or cool. I loved the paint more after I got the bike home and gave it its first wash and wax. It looks like a black mirror. The blacked out finish is nice to a degree but begs for some chrome here and there for contrast. The bike looks and runs awesome. About the only things I'd change about it mechanically is I feel like the engine idle speed is a touch high. At operating temperature it idles at 1150. I feel like this should come down to around 850-950. It wants to immediately take off when the clutch is released without applying any throttle. I've tested this out and went down the road just on idle and have easily been able to upshift to 2nd gear. The other mechanical change I'd like to see is quieter bearings in the electric fan. It's pretty well loud and the first time I heard it I thought something was wrong with the bike. I changed the stock exhaust out for something much louder and I can still hear the fan. The bike handles great and its done everything I've asked it to do with ease. The stock seat is annoying and doesn't hold you in place. I plan on changing this to something much better soon. The biggest issue that I have with this bike is that I can't seem to be able to go anywhere and not attract attention and be able to get in and out of somewhere quickly. It never fails that atleast 2 or 3 people approach me with compliments and questions. If you don't like attention or aren't a people person then thus bike probably isn't for you. Also, i live in a rural and heavily agricultural area in southside Virginia. This is a gorgeous place to live and ride. Im blessed with lots of natural scenery, windy backgrounds and very close to a state park and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Not all my riding happens on pavement is my point. Ive riden on dirt, gravel and grassy fields and had full confidence in this bike the entire time. This bike is not at all a dirt bike but it does great on
some limited and light offroad use. This fits completely with my perceptions of Indian bikes and how they started ovet 100 years ago. These bikes were riden on unpaved roads, in pastures and even on battlefields. I've loved Indian bikes all my life but thus is the first time I've had the pleasure of owning one. I visited several brand dealerships before my purchase and sat on many a seat but I didn't feel like it was for me until I sat on an Indian Scout. This is an unusual bike and people stare at it like it's a spaceship or something like that. I really like that it's different. I like my bikes the way I like my women and that is uncommon and not one that everyone else in creation has had. If you want to be one of the masses then buy an HD, If you appreciate being an Individual then buy an Indian. Thank you Polaris for building a truly awesome bike and I feel sure it will probably outlive me and still be riding down the road decades from now like Indians are known to do.

Really happy with the look and performance of the bike but can't give it 5 stars (which it deserves) due to the appalling stock seat and equally appalling rear suspension! Have since changed seats and suspension (front and rear progressive) plus added an LED headlight which really should have been standard amongst many other personal performance and cosmetic changes that Indian is very much lacking in ability to supply, Indian really needs to do better here.

My entire life as a rider, I have always given my attention to the Asian ladies (sport bikes) as they always tickled my speed rush and road hugging. Now that I’m older and my back not all that great, I gave our American big bone babies a chance. And wow not what I expected, the power and capabilities this scout has..oh my after some upgrades the sound of American muscle built here in the states has me very pleased and happy…always looking for a chance to take her out and get her screaming but yet sidle comfort ride. Great starter bike
After 26 years of not having a bike I finally broke down and bought an Indian Scout Bobber. Great bike to get back on the road with. Only had it for about 5 weeks and have put almost 1k miles on it. It’s not so great for interstate riding, just doesn’t have the power. It’s is great for rural roads and backroads all day long tho. It’s fairly quick and agile, great on curvy roads. I have been on a couple 1.5 hr rides and the seat gets really uncomfortable after about an hour. My hopes are to keep this bike for 2-3 years then trade up to something a lil bigger.

No complaints so far really. I removed a baffle to louden the pipes. I understand the reasons for them being quiet stock but easy to change. I need to bring the handle bars a bit closer so I'm a little less hunched. Both of these things are just part of fitting a bike so not an issue.

Thank you!

In love

Great look and feel. Very easy for a first time rider. I do recommend an safety course in your state if its provided - that was beneficial. This bike handles well. I get so many complements on it. It just fits me. And the Indian brand is stuck to me for life.

22 Scout Bobber Non ABS

What an adventure
My entire life as a rider, I have always given my attention to the Asian ladies (sport bikes) as they always tickled my speed rush and road hugging. Now that I’m older and my back not all that great, I gave our American big bone babies a chance. And wow not what I expected, the power and capabilities this scout has..oh my after some upgrades the sound of American muscle built here in the states has me very pleased and happy…always looking for a chance to take her out and get her screaming but yet sidle comfort ride. I do say I’m happy Indian has my full attention.

I am extremely happy with my scout bobber twenty and all the extra accessories I have ordered and installed. Except for one. It is the fairing storage bag. The magnetic latch holding it shut does not hold the cover closed. I asked the dealer for a replacement but the same results. Also made a comment to Indian direct with no results. This is the biggest engine I've had. At first I was concerned but it is exceptionally balanced and perfect height. Getting used to the bike I kept it in standard mode. First ride in sport mode was super touchy. Now it stays in sport mode. It will pull you off the seat if unprepared for a throttle dive! Love it! It's a head turner too I get compliments all around for the style and paint job.

2022 chief ABS 150 mile review
I bought the chief the end of March across state because my closet dealer couldnt get ine for several months and the cross state dealer wouldnt trade for it. Since its new England I havent had too many days to ride so 200 miles is spread over 8-10 urban rides. After having it delivered and it wouldnt start, the dealer said let it charge a couple of days. Fast forward a month bike dies at the ice cream stand. Jump start and limp home. Dealer picks it up and replaces the battery and also repairs an oil leak from what they report as an improperly torqued side cover.

In a few years it will be good. But never ever buy a bike that is one of the first ever to come out. Indian doesn’t have any parts available. I bought a few things like a passenger seat, sissy bar, passenger pegs, and saddle bags over two months ago when I bought the bike. I’m still waiting on stuff. The Indian parts situation is a joke. maybe in a year they’ll have some stuff in stock. Otherwise the bike is okay.

1st and last Cruiser.
After my first test ride, I said I have to have this bike. I did wanted to wait for the DarkHorse to become available but I'm glad I decided on this one. I'm coming from the Sport bike world so this being my 1st cruiser, I was hesitant. The Chief blew away my expectations. Being 600lbs+ I expected it to ride like a brick. I'm able to flick this into corners and having so much torque, power is no issue. The only issues I have is I really, really wanted the Ride Command but the Chief comes with the traditional analog dash. The other issues would be there isn't a huge assortment of aftermarket parts out there.. most of the Indian parts are very expensive but not to the Harley price point. I have purchased the stage 1 forward air intake and slip on. This isn't my grandparents motorcycle.

Fun bike, good looking but some flaws
The bike looks great, its fast. Deceivingly fast. Some nice features, some features it lacks. The throttle response needs to be addressed however. Its either on or off, you can't just ease into it like most bikes. This bike you roll on it at all and its rather abrupt, hate this! Headlamp is small for the bike. The exhaust is WAY WAY WAY too quiet! Bikes should make noise, this one is very quiet, pulling up to a red light you can't even hear the engine running. Disappointed overall with the quality of the bike, Indian makes better bikes.

So Smooth
I’ve had the bike for about a month now. It’s a standard Chief with the 111 motor. I have been doing mostly recreational riding and boy is it smooth. I have had several Japanese bikes, a Big Dog and a few Harleys too. This is the smoothest bike I have ever had. Everything is smooth, the ride, the handling, the feel and the look too. The only thing not smooth is the Sport Mode. Sport mode is short for….hang on or you just might end up looking at the backside of your bike as it heads on without you. The Thunderstroke looks great, sounds great (with an aftermarket pipe), and is the smoothest motor ever. Great power and pull.
The seat works great for the two hour rides I typically take. The drag bars are comfortable for my 6’1” height bit, I wish Indian had some 2” handle risers available as they would then be perfect. The mid controls work fine but I would be more comfortable with forward controls. I may have to change them out. I love the 19” front tire and it handles super well. Crack and road imperfections are unnoticeable. Grips are comfortable and the controls, gauge controls, and cruise control work very well. The minors are nice looking and have a great field of view. The functions on the standard gauge package are great and the trigger controls are easy to use. The pipes look great but are way too quiet and too lengthy for my tastes. And aftermarket pipe will solve that problem…..when they are finally available.
The only downside is the availability of Indian parts and accessories. I bought a passenger seat, sissy bar with pad and some passenger pegs an am still waiting for half my parts. The lack of aftermarket parks is also a downer. Since the the Chief model is new this year, the are very few aftermarket options. My dealer didn’t have a Chief to ride so I ordered my bike and waited about 8 weeks for it to arrive. I ordered my accessories at that time but still don’t have them all.
I have one aesthetics suggestion. The Chief needs some optional struts for the rear fender. The Scout has them and they look great. The flat side on the Chief’s rear fender looks a little bland, boring and too flat. In my opinion, I t’s the only cosmetic thing off on the bike. Please Indian, please make some nicely sculpted rear fender struts for the Chief. All in all, the bike is amazing, smooth, fun and as tasty as a hot fudge Sunday on a Friday night.

Needs some improvements
I bought this bike about a month ago. It is super quick and handles great. It has horrible ergonomics and is very uncomfortable to ride any length of time. The foot pegs are too high and too far back. You can hardly reach the kickstand because the pegs are in the way. The handle bars are way too low and forward also. I plan to install the forward controls and cruiser handlebars. This will make the bike way more comfortable for me. I’m disappointed that the bike was launched way before most any of the accessories are available including the above mentioned items that I need to change.

Great Midweight Cruiser
I purchased the Chief almost two months ago but the fact that I ride several bikes and the spring weather has not always cooperated I have managed to put 400 miles on it. I purchased a few accessories on day one but am still waiting for some of the components to install them. I do not like the drag bars so I am going to put the cruiser bars with the 17" windshield. I will also swap the stock seat for the 1920 solo seat which will get me up a bit higher so I will have more comfort to the mid control foot pegs. Good bike, but outdated
It is a good bike, but it is not worth $18,000. The cruise control was on the right side of the handle bars, this causes unnecessary multitasking. The gauges were on the tank and I kept having to move my head up and down making it difficult to see. And it did not even come with Heel-toe shifting. My $9000 Suzuki comes with that, a windshield, and bags! The 111 is also Air Cooled. Triumph has a 2300 CC bike that is liquid cooled. I would only pay about $13,000 at the max, any more this bike is very little bang for your buck. It is simply outdated and overpriced.

Powerful cruiser
I’ve owned my new Indian for 2 months. Road almost 1900 miles. Ergonomics are good after I had cruiser bars installed. Floorboards are comfortable along with heal shifter. Only other option was a rear fender luggage rack. Overall I gave it a 4 due to a stiff non adjustable clutch lever. It should be adjustable for smaller hands, and lighter pull for older riders. I’m 5 ft 10 inches and 130 lbs, 65 years old. Also disappointed with puke tube coming out of engine that will drip oil on your clean garage floor. Ride is very smooth even for light riders. Throttle in sport mode is way too jerky. Standard mode is best. Braking is excellent. Seat is very comfortable for up to 3 hour rides so far. Fuel economy is 56 mpg, but I don’t ride it hard. Cruise control is useful and easy to use. I with turn signals were like Harley-Davidson one on left and right controls. Sometimes hard to turn on signals if you pulled in clutch handle and have small hands. Cruise control nice, but does not have ETA when viewing route on screen.

A great all around motorcycle!
The Indian chief dark horse is a great all-around motorcycle. This bike basically can do it all, short runs to long touring. Having the 4 inch ride command is extremely helpful. You can never get lost with the built-in GPS. The rider modes and Bluetooth capabilities are a big plus! I am 5'9 and 230 pounds and it fits me like a glove. I also love the accessories. I added an 8 inch mini ape handlebars and a performance air intake.
Lastly, the dealership experience was exceptional. The people at Indian Motorcycle of Monmouth are true professionals.

Dark Horse amd not impressed.
Well I would like to say I'm satisfied but to be honest I'm really not. I got the top of the line dark horse but yet it came with chrome exhaust covers. I asked the dealer if they are planning on sending a bkack set, they will contact you. So right away this doesn't sound good when the dealer and manufacturer are not communicating. The key FOB straight from the dealer would not keep synced with the bike had to order a new one. Not only that but after paying 22k altogether for everything you'd think it would come with 2 key fobs just like any normal vehicle you purchase. I've had it for a little over a month now and twice now when I have gone to start it....it just turns over once and then you hear the system start up again...push the button and same thing it turns over once and stops. Did it about 10 times before finally starting. Not sure what the problem is but for a brand new bike....that isn't good. I bought this one because I was really happy with my 2020 scout bobber 20 I purchased last year but this one has been a disappointment.

Well-crafted bike with superb quality and innovative features. The Chief was definitely with waiting on and I look forward to riding many miles on this incredible machine. I have the Darkhorse model with mini-ape bars which make for an extremely comfortable ride and give great control and feedback. My only complaint is the lack of tire pressure monitoring.

I went into the dealer just to get a look at this new bike and I loved the lines. They were nice enough to let me test ride the bike and I was hooked! I ordered the Chief dark horse that day. After one month and 1000 miles my love affair with the bike and not diminished. The seat took about 500 miles to break in and now I can go over 100 miles without needing a break. I love all the advanced features and it handles like a dream.

Excellent New-stalgia bike
The new Chief combines new tech with a historic look that blew me away from the first picture I saw. The engine is gorgeous and in the open; the power is great, full of torque. The weight is down low, so riding on the road or pushing around the garage, this bike does not feel heavy. Smooth ride, fun in the twisties, powerful on the highway--and the looks--I want to bring the bike into the living room each night just to look at it, but wife won't let me. I love the bike. Solid nostalgia-laden design with good modern handling and technology. I'm not that keen on the fender or the side-mount license, but I'll deal with those later. I've liked Indian bikes before, but this one, from the first time I saw it, said I had to buy one. Worth it.

Not bad for a polaris.
For the price i would've hope to find some premium components. Lets compare the bike i just sold, 2019 Ducati Super Sport. I'll just focus on price and components such as fully adjustable Olhins forks and rear shock along with Brembo brakes, up/down quick shifter and a seat that you could sit on for more than an hour or two and finally a flip top gas cap that matched the bike. Price? I paid about $1,500. less than my new Dark Horse. I gave you a shot Polaris.

Lemon motorcycle.
Bought it. Immediately had issues to what I thought was a bad fuel pump or bad battery. Had my 500 mile service done and no issues found. At 1400 miles engine codes cylinder misfire and cylinder 2 misfire, took to a dealership, nothing found. Reset codes. Rode about 40-60 miles boom, check engine light again, this time crankshaft position sensor, back to dealer, they replace sensor stated it was bad. Get bike back, rode for 40-60 miles, boom CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AGAIN!!!! cylinder misfire and cylinder 2 misfire. Dealer comes to pick it up as it's the 3rd time in a week.... Indian main office won't do anything to correct my lemon. Aside from that, the ride command does NOT work. This bike has potential, but my ol reliable the scout bobber 60 has been my clutch

Love it all
I bought my 2022 Indian Chief Dark Horse in July 2021 and I couldn't be happier. The bike's performance has exceeded my expectations. It has a lot of power, its very responsive and also very nimble. It handles like a bike that weighs much less than it actually does. My only cons are that stock exhaust is embarrassing. For the price point of this motorcycle you should at least be able to hear the exhaust when you roll on the throttle. Seems like a ghetto ploy to make the exhaust upgrade a must. Also for some reason my Ride Command keeps bouncing back to the starting menu while I am riding. I am not overly concerned as I am sure its just an update that can be fixed. Other that those two items the bike has been a blast and looks very aggressive. Also be aware after market parts for the Chief are essentially none existent which I am now learning. If you plan to do some mods to your bike do some research and make sure those products are made for the Indian Chief.

Superb Bike -- 2022 Chief Dark Horse
Received my 2022 Chief Dark Horse in early July after a 6 week wait. Beautiful bike! Was tender with it for first 500 mile break-in period. Since then have driven the bike in all kinds of situations and it has performed flawlessly. Stealth Grey is a great color that elicits many positive comments wherever I stop and even some jealous looks from H-D drivers. A very enjoyable bike to drive as its handling is superb and power unmatched. Just a super bike all around.

Good but not great
New models are always gonna have bugs to work out. No excepting to the new Chief Dark Horse. Clutch is still engaged way out there at the end of finger tips, throttle has a latency til you're moving. Then you have good response but at low speeds you'll feel the gearing jogging in and out. Seat is getting broken in but still hard on lower back/upper butt on longer rides. Will definitely be changing that out. And lastly, rear suspension is hard. Great for cornering but be ready to get bucked around on harder bumps as you hit them straight on

2022 Chief Dark Horse - Awesome
Amazing combination of look, technology, power and ride! Also loved my last bike, an Indian Springfield, but this one is better for me personally since it's a lot lighter as a cruiser but not too light for touring if desired. Will be even better for touring once I add the numerous accessories I want. They are all backordered until late 2021, so that's the only bummer - especially since I had to pay for the accessories up front. Still 5 stars because this is primarily about the bike and the engine.

Poor quality control on engine
I love the bike. Fit and finish seems well worth the money. Comfortable and powerful. My only issue is at 350 miles I started having intermittent engine noise, sounded like it could be valve or rocker noise. Cut apart the filter at the dealership after the 500 mile service. It was full of metal shavings of aluminum or some other silver non magnetic material. Fresh oil and filter didnt correct the issue completely. Still has intermittent upper engine noise.

Electrical issues on a new bike
Love riding this bobber. The look, feel and ride are above expectations. I rate a 4 die to the fact that Day 2 I had chassis fault warning lights come in the dash and was informed this is a known issue, that nobody bothered to tell me about when I purchased the bike. The dealership said it’s ok to ride but every time I get on I’m annoyed by these warning lights, on my bran new bike. They said they are not sure they can do anything about it, it’s up to Indian, but they’d look at it when I bring my bike in for 500 mile service. Frustrating to say the least. I should have asked more questions.

All of the power
I’ve had my Bobber for over 2 months now. As for as performance goes, I couldn’t be happier! This bike is everything my Softail thought it was. However, besides unbearably quite, there is some sort of issue with the tank and how it is mounted to the frame. It makes an awful metal on metal ‘ping’ sound over every bump in the road. EVERY BUMP. It sounds bad, and it’s annoying.

Sport Mode isn’t for beginners
Killer looks, Excellent balance, and more power than you need stock. Sport mode is twitchy sketchy fun, sometimes too much but makes me grin every time. Suspension is too soft for two riders, same problem as the Scout. Highly recommend the passenger pillion, not for the extra rider but it stops you from doing a full Superman when you get on it in sport mode. Can’t wait to see how future mods open up normal and sport modes. I wish I could have opted for a Dark Horse without the fancy speedo. Highly recommend.

It's fun
2200 miles, 4 weeks, it's fast and easy to control. Definitely would take the touchscreen and trade it back in for some money back because it blows. The navigation takes you in circles to where your going, the roads like to disappear, and it likes to freeze if you have it in nav mode for more than 30 minutes. Also, definitely some redesigning to be done. The pickup tube is on the right side of the tank, won't start if it's on the kickstand with a gallon or less of gas. You have to stand it up and start it. Good solid cruiser and I love it but definitely would not buy this year model until they fix some things and or come out with a dark horse 116 without the P O S touchscreen. I am connected via Bluetooth and it still won't let me do anything it says you can from your phone. If you ride as much as I do fork out the extra money and buy a touring bike. It's too much money for an engine and a frame basically

I’ve put 1000km on the bike and I think it’s a great all around bike. I put about 500km in the city and 500km on the highway. The bike was great in the city, and more than manageable on the highway. I will put a windshield on mine for the next highway trip. The bike has a comfortable riding position for the longer sitting times and the Bluetooth for changing your music on the go is awesome.

Lives up to the name!
I drove my Indian Chief Bobber DH across the US from North Carolina to California. I was able to test this motorcycle in harshest of the conditions and it faired well on all the occasions. It endured 110 degree AZ heat, 29 degree CO snow and Tropical storm IDA in KS. In the looks and esthetics department this bike is a show stopper. The power curve of this bike is magnificent. I have a 116 motor and at no point in time I had any issues cruising on highway, over taking 18 wheeler or riding through mountains. I am not a mechanical expert but from the riders point of view bike is fully equipped on power spectrum. The tires on this bike are amazing. Rain/Snow/Shine they held the bike perfectly. I encountered off roads in canyons, which these tires dealt beautifully. There are few things that I felt were not unto the mark during my 6000 mile cross country ride for which I dropped one star in rating.
Pathfinder headlight: Only good when it pitch dark. On highways it is next to useless as it does not illuminate the road.
Passenger footrest support: On a 20 grand bike, Indian gave me this small piece of metal on one side with provision to add one other side. Ridiculous!!
Exhaust pipe shield: The exhaust of this bike is unforgiving. If you sit on the bike normally during the ride and you aren't cautious, the pipes will burn you pants, literally. During my ride I was wearing Joe rocket riding pants. They got destroyed, so also my rain gear which basically I had to discard because the resin got stuck to the pipes. Being an engineer myself, I would have assumed for Indian to do some testing around this issues.
Side Stand Indicator: This might be a malfunction on my bike but the indicator did not work which scared the heck out of me on highway, when my stand scrapped at 75mph.

Out of the last three Indians that I've bought, this one is my favorite. Fits right in between the Scout Bobber and my Springfield Dark Horse. Rides and handles like a champ. Great features. Only issue is the seat, it needs a little more of a bolster on the back so you don't come sliding off the back when you give it the beans. Other than that, it's a great bike and I love it. Only had it for a few months but the more I ride it the more I like it and I really liked it to begin with.

I bought this bike July 17, 2021. This is my first bike so I have nothing to compare it with. That being said, I don’t want to be able to compare with any other bike. Motorcycle full of tricks!!
I have owned my Chief Bobber Dark Horse for just under two months. Immediately after my purchase I was blessed with the opportunity to ride 80+ miles home. This was a great opportunity for me to get to know the bike. The riding position is great for me being 6'3". I will be considering highway bars in the future for longer riders to stretch my legs but for my day to day riding I do the current setup is great! The one downside I had was the stock seat and that is true for almost any stock seat, it's comfortable for about 45-50 minutes then it is time to get off the bike and walk around for a few. Luckily enough a fellow Indian owner helped me out and added gel padding to my seat, now 100+ miles is no issue at all. I currently just have a solo seat but I may be adding a rear seat and sissy bar in the future for longer trip storage as well as saddle bags. Overall this is a great bike that is built for daily commuting, weekend trips or any other type of riding you are looking to accomplish. The price is also very appealing for how much you get on the bike!! The ride command is packed with so much stuff that I am able to monitor and track everything on the bike, while having navigation and control of my music!

Attention to detail
I've had me Chief for a couple months now and absolutely love it. However, I cannot give it five stars for two reasons. One is the exhaust. It's two quiet and does not give the 116 motor any justice, and it is much to long. Second is the cable routing off of the handle bars, down in front of the gas tank. As you turn, the brake cable rub and scratch the beautiful paint on the gas tank. To me this is a simple fix but a huge oversight as many won't notice this until it's too late.

A beast...in a little package
I have 3 Indian motorcycles with a 2018 Springfield DH, 2021 Challenger DH, and a 2022 Chief Bobber DH. This bike is insanely powerful. My 2018 Springfield DH was originally a TS111, but I had put the BBK and made it a TS116. From the factory this bike is a TS116 at about 250 lbs less. It is so powerful for in a much smaller form factor. You can really throw this bike around as compared to the bigger baggers. You accelerate quickly and the seat barely keeps you in. It handles really well. I am 5'10" and with the stock mini-apes, I felt a little cramped. I changed to the extended seat and it moved me back about 2" from the tank. This is a much better fit. I am looking to put on the 8" apes when available. Overall I love the look, the performance, and overall handling of this bike. Highly recommended for a cruiser.
The fit and finish is amazing. Indian did such an amazing job of tucking away all of the components in such a sleek way so that the bike is very clean in the look. The 4" Ridecommand is really cool as well. They should put that on all the bikes. It has a lot of information but is cleanly organized.
My only criticism is the sound on the stock exhaust. I usually don't care for stock exhaust on any bikes. I am looking forward to aftermarket options when they are available.

Excellent companion to my Chieftain
Having taken ownership of my 2022 Chief Bobber Dark Horse about 6 ago, and after logging just shy of 1800 miles, I can give some definitive observations. Simply put, I love this ride! The handling and response couldn’t be better. I’m 5’10”, with a 32” inseam, so the seat height is perfect. The seat has molded to my rear so I have the cradling effect that comes when the foam is broken in. Mini-apes put the grips right where I want them, and the forward controls complete the comfortable riding stance. Side bags are not huge, as well as the fuel tank, only holding 4 gallons. Those two drawbacks puts my Chief into the short day rides or an overnighter on occasions. The lack of a windshield would add to that limitation as well. At 80-90 mph, (with an occasional burst into triple digits), I make sure that my helmet is strapped on nice and tight. Even then, the constant buffeting can be exhausting. I love the color, opting for the Bobber DH specifically to get that. I really love the matte finish, having experience with my ‘17 Chieftain Limited in White Smoke. Neither I nor my salesman can understand why, with the blackout theme and lack of chrome parts, Indian equipped the bike with a chrome gas cap. ???? Fortunately, I borrowed one from my Limited for now, having ordered an aftermarket set from Kuryakyn. I have gotten a lot of compliments so far, and look forward to many miles of riding ahead.

Best Cruiser Ever
I’ve had this motorcycle for about 2 months and I’m in love. I’d ridden Harleys and Victorys in the past but this blows them both out of the water

Could Have Been 5 Stars
Honestly, I regret purchasing the bike this year. Should have waited until next year, it would have saved me a TON of frustration.
Ride Command: Has some cool features, but lacks product support. I had to take my bike back to the dealer to get the modem activated since they weren't told that was a requirement.
- Cannot transfer rides from the bike to the phone app and vice versa. Would be a cool feature on a $20K bike, particularly since this is available to other Indians with Ride Command. Not a planned feature according to Customer Service
Accessories: Here's why I'm so disenchanted with Indian right now, and would only recommend a Chief to someone I either didn't like, or if someone wanted the barebones bike and nothing else. Indian has totally failed to deliver on accessories. I guess more accurately, Indian has failed me, since I have seen the same parts I ordered installed on bikes that were purchased at other dcealerships, ordered and paid for the same time I did. Guess they were just lucky.
The positives:
- Style is awesome, I get complements on the bike all the time!
- Power is amazing. 4th gear pulls on the freeway are breathtaking!
- Handling is great! Feels like a much lighter bike, handles everything I throw at it.
- Dealer was and is continuing to be AMAZING. Great folks, they are the reason I'm on my 2nd Indian, and wouldn't think twice about buying another bike through them.

AMAZING RIDE!
I've owned six different HD's as well as a few metric cruisers. There is absolutely no comparison. The ride is smooth and enjoyable. The power out of this Thunderstroke 116 is amazing. Sport mode it feels like a rocket! If you lean back, there is no doubt it will left the front end. Not to mention it sits in the perfect position for cruising and is super comfortable. I am totally smitten with this bike.

It handles amazingly as well.

Best Purchase of my 40 year riding life
I made two excellent choices on purchasing my Super Chief two months ago. The first was listening to Brad (sales manager) on what features would appeal to me. His knowledge base of riding, safety, and Indian options helped seal the deal. The second was spending the extra monies on the Super Chief over the Chief. Having all that you want on a bike day one makes for pure driving pleasure and no buyer remorse.

4.7 Overall (Fix some things)
- There's no reason this bike shouldn't have a USB port. Add one!
- For the price, the bags are too small. Make them cheaper or give us bigger bags.
- The Indian logo on the sides of the tank are so bad its embarrassing. They're already starting to come off.
* My two cents, the Super Chief should come with highway bars or at least have highway bars readily available for each Super Chief. I ordered the bike and highway bars at the same time, got my bike in July, but I won't get the highway bars until October.

Most satisfying bike I've owned
Bought white Super Chief in May, 1400 miles now. Bike looks better than photos, and it's my favorite style. Best-handling bike I've had (12 bikes since 1965; HD, Yamaha, Honda, BMW, Victory), nice balance, plenty of power for an old cruiser rider. I look for excuses to ride it. I'll keep this bike until I can't ride any more. 75 yrs old, 6', 200 lbs, extended-reach saddle, pure fun.

It took one test ride and I bought it!
I absolutely love this machine. The lines are gorgeous and fit the style I was looking for. It's extremely comfortable and easy to ride. I am 5'10" and all controls are easily accessible.
Seat - This stock seat is really a dream and holds my rear in place. Long trips (150+ miles) do not wear me out.
Handlebars and Grips - Took a little for me to get used to and had to raise the handlebars to my comfort level. In all, a very relaxed rider position is accommodated with these bars and grips.
Throttle and Clutch - The ride modes are interesting. Tour is relaxed and good for long rides, giving smooth response. Sport is twitchy and can be fun on short sprints. Standard is where I ride mostly. There is a bit of a learning curve if coming from a cable throttle to "drive by wire" as there is a smidge of response lag. The clutch has a wide friction zone but does give you more confidence. Once you learn the clutch and let it go, hang tight! It's a blast!
Gas Mileage - I am getting about 150 miles plus per tank before I decide to fill up. On more relaxed rides, I could almost reach 200. The bike says I am getting an average of 44 miles per gallon.
Handling - Extremely easy to handle. Surprisingly nimble even for what consider a heavy bike. Takes a bit to get used to when you shift your weight when making slow, tight turns, as I was coming from an older, smaller bike.
Power and Sound - It has power to satiate any appetite! The stock exhaust is ample, but if you are used to louder pipes, go for Stage 1 right away. It's quiet enough to sneak out of the neighborhood on early mornings, but ready to roar once you get on the road.
Windshield - Does a good job deflecting most wind. At higher speeds, I can feel a bit of the gusts at the top of my helmet, but not bothersome.
Braking - ABS does a good job. I recently had to make an emergency stop as I did not have any exit paths. The ABS kicked in and did a great job from preventing the wheels from locking up.
Cruise Control - I have used it a few times, but only in short stints as there is much traffic where I live. Works really well.
Storage / Saddle Bags - These are super nice and roomy. They are not your typical giant bags and you cannot store a full helmet. They provide enough space for extras, such as your riding gear, shoes / boots, water, hats, flowers, a pineapple, gloves, etc.
In all, I would highly recommend this bike to anyone who is just past starting out, unless you are comfortable handling a bobber-type bike.

I love my super chief limited. The power is great. The handling is better than any Harley I have had and I rode Harleys for 41 years. The design is spot on for what this bike is made for. What I don't like is the rust that showed up around the screw in the center fuel tank trim. I was also disappointed when I went to adjust the handlebars and the control housings line up in a hole in the handlebars limiting range of adjustment. Also the hand control switch housings are plastic not metal.

Blast to ride!
I had a 2018 Roadmaster but most of my riding was less than 3 hours and without a passenger. I feel in love with the Super Chief when I test rode it and pulled the trigger once I had the wife sit on it at the dealer. It is an absolute BLAST to ride. 200 lbs lighter with a bigger motor and much more nimble and responsive. That along with modern technology in a beautiful retro frame what's not to love!
My dealership, Chesapeake Cycles in Annapolis, made buying the bike easy and have always provided top notch service before, during and after the sale. That's why I've been with them for the last 10 years.
Then I went to take my daughter in law for a ride. She has long legs and is EXTREMELY uncomfortable on the back; much more so than I expected. The main cause is the height of the passenger pegs. With the shotgun pipes there doesn't seem to be much room to lower them either. I also noted that, unlike the Chieftain and Roadmaster, the Ride Command doesn't allow you to download rides from the app which is a huge disappointment. Rumor has it that Indian MIGHT fix that with a future upgrade but we'll just have to wait and see. Then the wife was finally able to ride after getting the backrest and she is very uncomfortable as well. We both expected that the passenger wouldn't be as comfortable as on a Roadmaster however, the pegs are so high that only short passengers would be comfortable on the back.
My overall opinion is that this is an awesome bike for a single rider who doesn't need to plan a ride or bring a passenger along. With those limitations in mind I would recommend this bike. Even with the previously mentioned shortcomings I still can't help but smile every time I throw my leg over her! This is by far the best bike I've ever owned when I'm on it by myself; just don't expect your passenger to feel the same :-)

Honest likes and dislikes
My wife and I ordered this bike in May at a Indian Demo Days event and took delivery in June. I still own a 2017 Springfield and love everything about it, which is one reason we purchased a second Indian. We purchased the 2022 Chief for the wife due to its weight being under 750lbs and for options it offers such as cruise control, ride command, slightly larger fuel tank which you can't get in the Scout platform.
Maybe it's because of our age (mid 50's), but we both dislike the bobber fenders and wish that Indian had options for longer fenders like the Scout platform offers. The functional drawback to the bobber fenders is riding on wet roads, unless you don't mind road spray up your back and on your helmet (even a rear fender 6-8" longer would have solve this issue and I believe would look better). If Indian doesn't make a longer fender in the near future, I surely hope an aftermarket company does. On that topic, the lack of a Indian made rider's backrest accessory option is disappointing for sure; again if Indian chooses not to product a backrest I'm sure an aftermarket company will soon.
My wife is only about 130lbs and a fairly new rider coming off a 400lb Suzuki S40-650cc and is able to handle the Chief as well if not better than the lighter weight Suzuki. As far as the power goes; she really doesn't need the 116ci, but it was the only motor option in order to get the ride command display feature she wanted. However, the "tour mode" setting in the three ride modes this bike is equipped with is perfect for taming or calming this beast down for the less experienced riders.
Finally, there will be personal likes and dislikes with any bike (eg. design/style, horsepower, colors, bars, seats, etc.), but obviously our likes for this new Indian Chief trumped our dislikes.

It's a solid bike with tons of power. It'll get you where you want to go effortlessly. It's balanced really well. It leans comfortably and grabs the road well with those 3" tires.
