The Perfect Cruiser
I bought my Sixty in Sep of 2016. I have been riding for over 50 years and it ties for the motorcycles I have loved the most of over thirty motorcycles I've owned. The other bike was a 1974 Norton Commando. I bought the 60 because of LACK of stupid features on bikes today. Keep it simple! The only mod has been a performance air filter from K&N. Did that make a difference!

picked this up in late feb. -put my first 500 miles on in some cold weather-----cold or not the fun factor was over the top-was a small problem with an oil leak but this was corrected and has been trouble free since

Great Motorcycle Love The Vintage Look!
Love the look and handling of the Scout. Put slip-on exhaust with no re-mapping, bike works great and sounds better. Motorcycle is well worth the money and would recommend it to anyone interested in a mid-size motorcycle. I have owned Honda, Harley, Yamaha, Victory and would put this product against any of them.Great Job Indian!

Pretty bike, terrible ride.
I purchased my scout sixty in 2016 and have put about 4,000 miles on it. After the allure of the looks wore off I'm just kind of disappointed. Its already had the starter replaced under warranty, and Monday it goes back in to have the tank replaced because the interior coating is peeling and flaking into the fuel. I could honestly overlook a few issues like that on a first run bike if the suspension wasn't so terrible. The suspension is borderline dangerous its so bad, and it allows for zero riding confidence. Would not recommend this bike to anyone unless Indian decides to do some major recalls on it and make the bike right.

Coolest mid-size bike out there
Have had this bike for 2 month. Very satisfied. No issues.
Fit & Finish - best looking bike out there. The style and the design and the colors, no other brand or bike can even compete with this one. It has character in it.
Power - plenty of power for the city riding. Acceleration is amazing and have to be careful cause that torque does make you feel like you might fall the bike. Don't see the point in paying extra $3k for the Scout for just a bit more power. This is more than enough. No Harley in this category is comparable.
Sound - the stock exhaust is not the greatest but it is not annoying either.
Handling - good maneuverability, low center of gravity makes it very stable. I feel very solid on it at any speed. Turning at the corners is very easy and no extra effort required, just glides like an arrow.
Harley riders look at it with envy and amazement. Would not say that the engine heat is huge. Yes, you do feel it if stopping a lot at the lights, but it feels pleasant rather than an issue. Definitely would buy again.

Wow is all I have to say
Purchased my Indian Scout 60 a week & a half ago. I have not ridden a bike regularly for 30 years (and back then it was motocross bikes). I sat on this bike in the showroom, no test ride prior to purchase, but I knew it felt just right. I am LOVING this bike, easy to ride, smooth, lots of power and runs like a dream. Thank you Peak Powersports, Oakville Ontario Canada.

I Made A Mistake
After owning the bike for a month, here's what I have: Won't start after a couple days of sitting in the garage. That battery tirelessly cranks but the engine just won't kick over. When I release the start button it keeps cranking as if I were still holding the start button. Then after about a dozen attempts it will start. How aggravating! The dealer isn't sure what is causing that issue. The speedometer drops to 40mph and uses that as my "zero." So I don't know my speed. And the deal killer: excessive engine heat. I owned a V-Rod that would heat up significantly at stop lights. But this bike is worse. I have never sweated through my pants from a motorcycle. Not even the V-Rod. The heat from this bike is unbearable. I never noticed it during break-in because I drove out in the country with very few stops. Once I started riding in the city the heat issues began. I got rid of the V-Rod for this issue and will do the same with the Scout Sixty.

Beautiful!
My Scout is my second bike. I learned and practiced on my 2009 Honda Rebel 250 and the differences are amazing! I feel much more confident and safe on my Scout than I ever did on the Rebel. So easy to ride, love that it sits nice and low, balance is amazing. Just a beautiful bike over all. I sat on many bikes before deciding on the Scout but nothing felt as good as the Scout did.

True to the original.
As an older, lighter guy who hasn't ridden much in 30 years, I wasn't sure.
I did the research, watched the youtube videos, read everything on the net.
Been looking at the Scout and competitors for the best all around bike.
My grandfather bought a new Scout and rode it from Michigan to L.A. in 1914, a hundred year legacy ride sounded better and better.
I got the last Indian Red 2016 Scout from Smokin' Joe's in Caledonia, MI, .99 percent interest? Couldn't pass it up.
Flat out Best thing I've ever purchased in my life!
I was first ride nervous, 2 trips around Joe's and I hit the road.
10 miles, felt good, 20 and I felt safe to do rush hour in the city.
By the end of the night, I had taken it on dirt, loose sand and rode 'til I was cold and sore. Next, wintery mix on smooth pavement, plenty of rain and sleet. Gently slid her sideways with both brakes locked, no issues!
I feel near 100% after 100 miles. Incredible.
My Harley friends told me immediately that it was small, I'd want a bigger bike.
Maybe someday. It's called a Scout for a reason, while the cushy "half cars" are headed for a destination, you're already there finding a place to eat, drink and crash for the night.
She acts like a mid to light cruiser but I can throw her around like a dirt bike.
The factory windshield is perfect, just enough wind in your teeth.
She's got that rattle like an American V - twin but the sexy sound of a Euro bike, water cooling makes this happen and makes her durable. You can imagine all the Scout riders in the past having exactly the same feeling, all I want now are mid pegs so I can stand up!
She looks like a custom straight from the showroom.
You go out at night and sit on her in the garage.
This bike is the cure for everything, a permanent grin that won't go away.
Go ahead and buy a bigger bike if you have to have one, everybody else, do yourself a favor, buy this girl!
And then there's the way Indian throws free parties at Sturgis and plenty of other places, can't wait.

Great cruiser
Bought my scout 60 back in Sep. and have almost 6000 mi on it so far. I wanted a bike WITHOUT all the modern junk on it (traction control, ride modes, etc). I wanted something like my 1974 Norton Commando. That also only had the basics. This is a wonderful place to start for customizing a bike.

Beautiful Bike!!
OMG! Traded my Triumph Speedmaster (rode for 11 years) for the Indian Scout.
When I set my eyes on the bike, it was love at first sight. The balance is great. Handles beautifully. I have rode my scout more in the 2 + months I have had it than my Triumph for the past year. I got the V & H pipes that roar perfectly. I am 60 yrs old and thought my bike days were almost over. Not at all!! My husband is 70, and he also bought a scout. And living in Florida is certainly a plus for riding. Really, really love the bike, as I tell my husband constantly.

Surprising amount of power and very smooth
I bought this to replace an 883 Sportster as a second bike and for my girlfriend to ride. It's by far the best "entry level" cruiser I've owned. Other than the 883 Sportster I've also owned a Honda Shadow 750 Spirit. The Scout has a smoother, more powerful engine than both. It's also better balanced and handles better.

This is my 1st bike and I believe it to be a well balanced, fun, fast and overall solid motorcycle. The height of the seat was perfect for my size (5'7") and I couldn't ask for a more comfortable
ride. Like most new bikes, you will want to upgrade some of the standard features. I added custom pipes, floor boards, LED headlamp and soon will replace the grips. Thank you Indian for giving me a great bike to ride along side my husbands Victory!

Good bike, can't customise
I bought this bike, because I love the style of the engine. Now that I have it, I see you can really only put Indian parts on it. That sucks. Instead of Indian making it standard that put a lot of proprietary parts on it. (I.e. the bar mounts. The top of the bar mounts holds the Speedo, so no risers. As for the bars. 1 inch bars that step down to 7/8 for the grips. So new bars = new handle controls, or spacers in the stock risers.)
Would be an amazing bike, if you could easily make it yours.

Love this motorcycle
The 2016 Indian Scout Sixty is my first motorcycle. I began riding in December 2016 and got my license in February 2017. I was not brand specific in my search, I wanted a bike that fit. Every thing about the bike is a great fit. Smooth ride, and easy to handle. It's a bike with plenty of power for an experienced rider, and easy handling for a new rider like me. My only disappointment is the heat generated from the pipes. Some suggested it's a design issue, others say my legs should be spread further. The pipes can be replaced or wrapped, and I haven't decided what I will do. All around the motorcycle is top notch.

Scout is an AWESOME bike,
First off,I actually own a Metallic Jade 2018 Scout that I LOVE! Today 8-30-19 I rode the 2019 Bergundy over Thunder Black Scout with Indian stage pipes. Rode nice with decent power. Comes with Fox shocks for a better ride. Weird it had shorter bars like a bobber, So it felt like riding a bobber, When it was the regular scout. Still sweet though!!

Very easy to handle, responsive and fast. Shifts well. I like to hear the engine when I shift, and it was too quiet. I burnt my leg on the pipes, so I would change them. I didn’t like that the signal lights were together on the same side. Fit and Finish was good.

Great upgrade on seat. Suspension.
Had a blast. Been training on a Harley sportster 1200 and the difference is night and day. I appreciate Harley’s “clunk” of the shifter, rattle of the engine, but the Indian shines on the suspension and smooth ride.10 times better than the sportsters including the iron 883. the scout had great throttle response, and nice upgrade on the new seats. stylistically it always wins but I also enjoyed the dash display.
Visiting the demo truck at Ukes Harley at the end of the month to get another feel for what I’m buying next year, but right now it’s Indian. Appreciate the demo.r

Rode the bike during a test ride event I attended for the purpose of testing the FTR1200. Not really my cup of tea: too low, too stretched out, tires too fat & the foot controls are ridiculous. Again, not my cup of tea. Now the FTR1200, on the other hand........

Scout demo rides 7-26-19
1. 9:30 Ride – Red Scout 60 – Ride comfort was good, but the bike was weak on power. Also had some trouble shifting. Got stuck winding up in neutral on my way from 1st to 2nd twice. Not the bike for me.
2. Scout - Thunder black. Great power, good comfort on riding position – grips were a little bit of a reach – I was told i could get handle bar grips 2” closer for around $200 + one hour labor. Bike was also very good on ride harshness comfort on road bumps. I liked it a lot. Rode it again later. I did notice that the hot pipe is right next to my right boot heel, actually burning the leather. This is probably the show stopper. I would buy a Scout except for this flaw.
3. Rode another Scout – this one tricked up more like a luxury bike, foot boards, windshield. Same ride comments, good power, a bike my size, but I don’t like the boards.
4. Re-ride on the thunder black Scout. I don’t like the gear indicator. Not near as good as on a BMW. When clutch is engaged no gear shows up.
5. Rode a Bobber. I hated the mirrors – attached to the ends of the grips, not easy to hang a helmet. The power was great, but the harshness was unbearable. Hard as a rock. A hard tail. Also the grips are way forward so I had to lean way up, my torso no longer vertical.
6. Rode the Chieftain Limited – Ruby metallic – no good, big, heavy, sluggish, too big for me. The heel shifter was nice.
This was a great demo event. Thanks so much to Polaris / Indian for arranging this. Everyone there from corp and from the Bair's Motorsports dealer was very friendly and helpful.

Attention to detail!
Ended up purchasing a 2016 Indian Scout for my wife. She loves the way it turns effortlessly & the balance offs great! I having many bikes over the years was very pleased with the details that were put into the design & layout of the controls. You always have the bad with the good though. Problem that I have & anyone over 5'8" will have is the seat. Very poor design for the taller riders. With that said I highly recommend this bike!

I love with a piece of American History
My first real motorcycle. Just can't have enough of it. Love everything about it - the handling, low but aggressive stance, the styling and more than anything else the fact that it's an Indian and it's the Scout; Burt Munro's machine as he broke land speed records a century back.
The only thing I expected for the money I paid was a better seat and shocks. I sincerely hope Indian listens to all of us who own the Scout Bobber. The comfort seat has never been in stock since I got the motorcycle few months back.

This is how everyone should begin
The Scout Bobber Sixty has been my very first motorcycle. Many tried convincing me to start on a 250cc or the like. Luckily for me I ignored them. The Sixty is the perfect blend of power, balance, and performance. So much so I don’t see myself trading up immediately like I most certainly would on many other “entry level” motorcycles. After the initial break in period, this bike easily gets up to 80mph on the highway, loving life between 4,000 and 6,000 rpms. Liquid cooling gives this modern v twin competitive advantage over other options, such as any of the Harley Davidson Sportster models. Like most new motorcycles, it’s needs some help to be heard. Both Indian and a variety of aftermarket companies can help give the exhaust a bit more presence. The one minor drawback that comes to mind is the lack of a gas gauge. The bike gets around 120-130 miles per gallon. I usually reset my trip odometer to know about how much longer I have in fuel, a light will come on when you have about 20 miles to go.

Super comfortable and smooth ride
I’ve had this motorcycle for about 2 months now. I was worried about how low the handlebars were compared to the previous bike I was riding and that it could cause my back to become sore or perhaps my shoulders (I’m 5’4, so I def have to lean a bit forward). But in all honesty it’s so comfortable and with my 35-50 minute commute (depending on traffic) I have not one complaint.

I love the look of this bike, It fits my style so well. My main problem with this bike is there are arent many aftermarket mods made for the bike through anyone not even Indian. If they were whiling to do some more work on modifications for their bikes I would recommend 100%. Other custom shops did not help much as no one knew the ins and out of an indian. This bike is not comfortable for rides over an hour the seat is hard and the suspension is very rough. Wouldn't recommend if you are always on the bike.

I bought this last December but I started riding it only after all the snow melted in Minnesota. It runs great and looks really aggressive, I definitely got a lot people looking at me while riding it. It's a rare bike, I don't see a lot of Indians while out on the road. I had to change the seat to the comfort seat and put on vance and hines slip ons to make it louder, but it is a super fun bike to ride.

Love my 2016 Dark Horse
I have had my Dark Horse about a year now other than the 2 simple recalls I have not had any problems at all, I love this bike. I also have a 2009 Harley Electric Glide Classic there is no comparison to the ride the Dark Horse has more torque rides and handles great the only regret I have is I wish Indian would have come out with the Chief ton Dark Horse one year earlier I love the hard bags and faring on the chief ton.

This bike is awesome. I've put 12,000 miles on my 2016 Dark Horse in less than a year, and 3,000 of those miles I put on it when I rode from Mississippi to the Grand Canyon,in Arizona. It's a very well balanced bike, and has plenty of torque. Love it!

2016 Indian Dark Horse Chief and 2016 Indian Dark
I bought this bike last September and loved it, but as soon as the Dark Horse Chieftin came out I bout it and love it... I bout the original Dark Horse from Heritage Indian in Rodgers Arkansas because the Shreveport, LA store was VERY hard to deal with, and still are to this day! It's sad just how much they DO NOT know about the products they sell!

Lots of looks
Own the 2016 Indian Dark Horse and a 2015 Roadmaster. Many bikers and others comment about its good looks on the Roadmaster but nothing compared to the Dark Horse. The Dark Horse is my wife's ride and the Roadmaster is mine. Literally every time we ride, she gets multiple looks, thumbs up, comments, etc. I might average a compliment every 5th time I ride. Both are great bikes.

Review of my 2016 Chief Dark Horse, Armageddon
I purchased my Dark Horse this year in late June and already have more than 2,000 miles on it. Over all I do recommend this motorcycle. I personally do a lot of riding. The road King that I traded in had 65k+ miles, I loved it. This bike has superior handling and power. The matted black is really an eye catcher, and I am constantly complemented on it EVERY TIME I take it out. As things stand I would recommend an Indian over anything else for anyone that does a lot of riding and traveling. Did over 300 miles miles yesterday, and the bike ate up the miles and despite being completely "stock " I was comfortable the whole time. Now for what I don't like. I just wished it came with the blacked out pipes and better sound. Just like Harley if you want better sound and performance, which both companies already KNOW WE DO!!! You are going to have to pay for it yourself. Wish someone would just MAKE THE BIKE THE WAY THEY ALREADY KNOW WE WANT IT!!!!

In general I would give this bike a 4.5 out of 5 just because I don't like how the pipes are the first thing to scrape going into a corner. Other bike I have ridden the foot pegs are the first thing to scrape, and pegs would be a lot easier and cheaper to replace than pipes.

from the comfort of the sitting position to the handling on back country roads the dark horse is amazing. You can ride for hours without feeling wore down. The styling makes this bike stand out. The matte black finish with a suebdued silver warbonnet on the tanks makes a bold statement. The power of engine is completely incredible. The exhaust is probably the best sounding stock exhaust I have heard on a bike.

Love my bike!!!
Have had my bike for about a month. Have just over 1100 miles with no problems. This replaced my Harley that I rode almost everyday. I am sold on Indian have four other bikes but hardly ride them now. With my Harley I would switch between my bikes weekly. I just can get off this bike. The only thing that I would say is the seat takes a few miles before it is broke in. Would recommend this bike to anyone looking to change from the HD brand. This bike has power in every gear. With the HD would have shift down to pass don't have to do anything but roll back on the throttle.

Endless Power
I bought the Dark Horse back in May. Great power. Smooth ride. Only two minor issues. Wish it had slightly better throttle response. The bigger issue, still nothing major. Wish the air box would not stick so far out. Makes for shifting a little awkward. Have to bend my foot in a little bit to shift, but you get use to it.

I HAVE ALL THE PERFORMANCE OPTIONS, EXHAUST, INTAKE, CAMS, AND OIL COOLER, AND MY 2013 VEGAS WAS STILL FASTER. ASIDE FROM THE FACT THAT I LOST A RACE TO A 2016 CORVETTE, I AM OVERALL SATISFIED WITH THIS BIKE. WILL I BUY ANOTHER INDIAN NO WILL I SELL THIS ONE PROBABLY NOT. Best Cruiser Yet
I had a Chieftain before I bought my 2016 Springfield. Thought I'd miss the sound system that the Chieftain came with. Before I took delivery on my 2016 Springfield, I had it upgraded to Stage 2, which included pipes, performance air cleaner, re-mapping, and Stage 2 cams. Now I don't miss the sound system because the exhaust note is music to my ears. The Springfield is also the best handling motorcycle I've ever had (bar none), and I've had a bunch including Harley & rice-burners. Do not try one out unless you're ready to buy a new bike, because if you do, then you will buy one.

My dream bike.
This is my first new bike since my Honda CB125 when I was 16. This is my first American bike. I have had my eye on the Springfield since it debuted. It is everything I have ever wanted in a bike. Massive, powerful engine, incredible low end torque and wicked throttle response. A perfect combination of the classic cruiser style I love and all the high tech anyone could want. I fall more in love with this machine with every mile I ride. I bought a 2017 on clearance and got an amazing deal. I'm in love!

Just what I've been waiting for...
I'd been thinking "Indian" for a few years. I visited my local dealership (several times) and really fell for the Chief Vintage. I thought, "If I could get something like this with hard saddlebags, I'd be all over it". Then along came the Springfield.
I'd ridden a touring bike with a fairing for the last six years and really wanted the protection (and look) of a windshield, and the convenience of the hard bags for long rides. Having the option to remove both and cruise with the bike "stripped down" is awesome. The look is so different, it's like having two bikes! The shield is truly quickly detachable. Takes seconds to put it on or to take off. The bags are easily removed also, with a couple of levers and an easily unplugged wire, you're looking at a few minutes total. And speaking of that wire, the remotely locking bags are great. Use either the button on the dash or the security fob to lock/unlock and you're done.
I've had my Springfield for about two months now and have put roughly 2500 thoroughly enjoyable miles on. The bike looks great, handles extremely well and has plenty of power.
Take one for a test ride. You won't be disappointed!

Love that nostalgic look!
As soon as Indian came out with the Springfield I made my decision to buy one. Exactly what I wanted. A windshield less the fairing. Plus I have the ability to remove when needed. I had been without a bike for 20 years until I purchased this. I was right at home on this bike in less than a day!. My wife and I just love it.
The drive belt adjustment is my only concern at this point. It's very sensitive to alignment. Has to be perfect otherwise you get a lot of chirping/squeaking from the belt and pulleys.

Purchased in June 2017, I had forgotten how much fun it is to ride a motorcycle. The Indian is expensive but I suppose you get what you pay for! It is well made, sound, classic looking and has yet to let me down when I want to ride. It is fairly good on fuel but could be better! I am 6' and the stock windshield could be a few inches taller. Overall, I would recommend this model!!

My Indian Springfield is an amazing bike with great comfort, speed when you need it and Looks amazing. It has perfect lines and is an impressive bike. I love the color red which enhances the bike. I have had so many compliments on my bike for a stock bike. There are many options I could add to the Springfield to make it my own style without changing the beauty of the bike. Love it.

2017 Indian Motorcycle Constructive Criticism!
2017 Indian Springfield and at msrp $22,099 I ran into a couple of issues less than 500 miles on the bike. 1) Engine error code gear shift indicator came on during a regular ride (along with engine light that would not shut off-annoying) 2) recently as in yesterday it would not start or turn over all engine indicator lights came on and the cruise control light would blink, shift indicator would not show gear, come on this a new bike, missed a bike event. These things should be made known to new potential customers and Indian-please take this as constructive criticism! Please fix these bugs! Nice bikes but sad if they don't start. I don't wan't an expensive paper weight. What will happen after my warranty expires? I had this bike less than 2 months, I love the bike, but it is sad if I can not ride it. Customer service is great, but these issues need to be addressed! I believe in the Indian brand and hopefully all the bugs will be ironed out soon!

Concerned
I bought the blue and silver sapphire bike Springfield on February 25th. The temp got up to 49 degrees yesterday and I decided to run to the local deli and grab a couple sandwiches. Took a slow right hand turn and the engine light comes on with only 22 miles on the bike. I bought the bike to have ready for spring. I contacted the dealership and they have to see it to diagnose the problem. Its cold again and I'm unable to ride it in. They can transport it for $50 fee. I already paid $100 for another dealer to deliver so that it would be ready to go. Seems my first trip over 10 miles will be on a nice day to see what's wrong. Very disappointed.

I've only ridden my Springfield 100km so far and it's still in its break in period, but I'm already impressed. It turns easily, and feels lighter than my old VTX 1800, even though it wwighs about 30 lbs more.
It has loads of torque, and I can still only use 1/3 of the throttle. I'm looking forward to discovering the power that comes from the 2200 rpm and up range.

Got my '18 back in September of '17. over 6 months and 6,000 miles later, it's still one of the best, reliable twins I've ridden. The stock seat and passenger pad are plenty comfortable for all day riding. The bike is already set up for quick release passenger pad and cargo rack, which we added for extra comfort. I've had my Chieftain for about 4 years, and the engine is great. The only problem that I have, which has been persistent, is the headlamp and auxiliary lights short circuit, and won't go on. This problem has been addressed a couple of times, but due to all my driving along PCH in Malibu for 55,000 miles so far, the salt air and moisture seems to cause problems with the wiring and definitely eats the chrome. The performance of the bike is exceptional for driving and handling.

Fulfilling a dream!
I have day dreamed of owning an Indian for more years than I can remember. When the thunderstroke 111 was introduced I followed the media and Web reviews closely. Then the line up introduced at Sturgis had me hooked. The next step was to wait for a dealership to open in my state, Maine. in June of 2014 a dealership opened in Maine. I bought a chieftain that week. I love motorcycles and riding. This bike exceeded my expectations.style handling and power. Not a single regret. Just ride one, you'll be hooked.

I bought my chieftain in August of 2017. Absolutely love how it handles corners, acceleration, and braking. I last ride it December 19 and will be back in it this week as temps claim above 30 (finally!).
I have been in Harleys for the last 20 years and love them but am so so very happy that I have the Indian. No regrets with this purchase

Outstanding motorcycle
I purchased my 2014 Chieftain in August 2014. I was a little nervous buying a first model year new bike but, this motorcycle has turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made. It's beautiful, powerful and super fun to ride. I get compliments and head turns where ever I go. It is without a doubt the best bike I've ever owned or ridden. Indian may have made a mistake in making my bike so perfect as I may never want to buy another. My Chieftain is the best!

Turning Heads
I purchased this bike in June 2017 and no words can explain my satisfaction with this superb machine. Turning heads on the highway and answering many questions of curious motorists at every stop is unavoidable. The nostalgic look mixed with modern touches sets this bike apart from others immediately, everyone knows is an Indian. The engine delivers sustained horse power for any trip. Additionally, the rapid throttle response is undeniably reliable. The stock pipes provide a distinct sound that comes handy when dealing with distracted drivers inside city streets. The dash display is easy to read during periods of high sunlight or poring rain and helps me keep my eyes scanning the road.
Both seats are comfortable, just add the passenger and rider back rest for more comfort. The rider seat height delivers solid foot on ground for better control and balance. The saddlebags are spacious to carry all my gear for a 4 day trip. Finally, the Indian logo on the tank and the headdress are the best visual expression of the brand.

Poor finish
This is my 4th season on the bike it has 30000 km on it now. Love the ride and power but the paint and chrome seems poor quality. The kick stand chrome started peeling almost as soon as I got it. Paint seems to sctatch and show swirls very easily. The wind shield and front fairinghave developed lots of rattles and annoying noises. I would be nice to have a bigger dealer network for support on long trips.

Best bike I've ever owned!
I LOVE this bike. Only had a couple things that were an issue and they were fixed. i.e.- I'm short, so added kickstand extension and had some issues with key fob but entering my "code" remedied the problem. Also, heat from motor broiling my thigh and added a heat shield. I added front lowers to highway bars and the added weight is top heavy, making slow maneuvers a challenge but all else, is awesome! I love it!!!!!!

Chieftain Dark Horse 116 big bore kit
The test ride was amazing! That 116 big bore kit had so much power! The different modes of riding were really cool too! The only thing I think they should do when putting the riders together is maybe have the less experienced ones in the back. Some of those guys clearly had not rode in a group before and had no idea what a staggered formation was. Some of them were all over the place.

2019 Indian Chieftain Dark Horse (Bronze Smoke)
Bought the is bike in Sep 2018 and now have a little over 8,000 miles on it. Time for a review.
On the day of purchase I did back to back test rides of a 2019 HD Street Glide Special and a 2019 Chieftain Limited. Both great bikes and both have pros and cons but in the end I chose the Chieftain.
Things I like:
Features - The Chieftain has led lighting all around and I really like the adjustable windshield and locking saddle bags. I do like the three ride modes but find myself typically riding in "Standard" mode. I appreciate the rear cylinder deactivation feature but have yet to use it. Even living here in Arizona I don't find engine heat to be an issue. I really like the ride command. It's intuitive, easy to use and has all the info I'll ever need. The tire pressure monitoring system is very nice to have.
The ride - The bike rides and handles great. The suspension and ride quality was a big factor for me when choosing between the Chieftain and Street Glide. The Indian was just better. I also found the ergonomics better. The Indian fits me well. For being a heavy bike it sure does handle well. Feels light and nimble.
Style - Of course this is subjective but I really like the new style. Yes, it looks more like an HD but I'm okay with that as I've always liked Street Glides. And I hate to say it but I've never liked the fairing, bags and big fenders on the older Indians. Guess I'm not nostalgic. I just don't like the "dated" look.
Performance - The 111 is fine for me and I like that the power is down low. Being bagger I rarely push the RPM's that high anyway. Short shifting is pretty much how I ride. Would I like more power? Of course. I've considered the stage 3 kit but to be honest don't trust the dealership to install it correctly. Right now the bike doesn't have any issues and I'd like to keep it that way. I do have stage 1 installed (Indian Performance Air Intake and Rinehart exhaust). The Rineharts sound great.
Things I don't like or wish were better and things I fixed:
My biggest complaint is the dealership network and availability of parts and add-ons.
The HD dealerships near me seem to be well organized and have everything you can think of to add on to your bike. Not so with Indian. Lots of things aren't available and when they are they're not in stock and need to be ordered. As mentioned above I would like to add stage 2 or 3 but just don't trust them to do it correctly. I did not have that feeling with HD.
With every bike I've owned my very first purchase was touch-up paint for the inevitable rock chip in the fender, fairing and bags. Can I get that for my Bronze Smoke bike? Nope, not yet. Have contacted Polaris multiple times and they don't have it yet and they won't provide the paint code for proprietary reasons. It's a small thing but I found it to be odd and a little annoying. I would also like some lower wind deflectors but those aren't available yet either, at least not by Indian.
While I like the led lighting I don't like the colored lenses on the front and rear signals. I wish they were clear or smoked. I figured that would be an easy upgrade but I'm having a hard time finding them. This could be on me. I also wish the front signals were dual purpose, turn signals and running lights. There may be after market options for this already but I'm not able to find them.
A couple things I had to change - The stock windshield wasn't working for me so I upgraded to the 13.7 Indian Flare windshield which is a nice improvement.
I've heard good things about the Rogue seat and in the beginning I liked it. I expected it get even better after some time breaking it in but that wasn't the case. Surprisingly it got worse and after 7K miles I replaced it with an Ultimate seat. The Ultimate seat sits me a little higher but it's way more comfortable. Big difference. Also, the Ultimate seat and backrest combo was pretty much the same price as the Rogue backrest and bracket alone. Getting the Ultimate was a no-brainer. The prices of Indian accessories is a little crazy.
So in summary, the things I don't like are pretty small complaints and pale in comparison to the things I like about the 2019 Chieftain Dark Horse. The bike itself is great and I hope it proves to be reliable over the years to come. My other hope is that the after market and dealership network continues to improve. For the bike, I give it five stars.

Great features!
I test fringe this bike today with a 116 big bore slip on stage 1 kit. It had increased speed and acceleration from the base model and was a dream to drive. The ride was smooth, the cornering was natural and fluid, gear shifting was smooth and very forgiving, and it was very easy to find neutral. The touch screen system was also very easy to use, understand, and contained simple functionality when driving.

Good for intended purpose
I began riding by racing off road, so prefer footpegs to be under me. I ride a 20 year old BMW at present, and the Indians I tried had more features, lower seat, but not as responsive handling or compliant suspension. I think the Chieftan or Roadmaster would be good on a long relaxed ride, and preferable to a Harley. It was good for the feet forward riding style, but probably would get another BMW for the money. I would consider if I had a lot of money as a second or third bike.

Nice Bike
I rode the Chieftain limited today and the ride was smooth and comfortable. I have been a sportbike rider in the past and now have a small cruiser. There are tons of features and the radio is great. At the last demo days, I rode the chieftain that was bored out with cams and exhaust. Riding this stock model was quite a bit less impressive. Throttle response seemed a little delayed and the power was noticeably missing - hence the 4/5 star review. Still a great bike and will definitely be the bike I buy if I choose to buy Indian.
