To maintain the batteries and inspect the fuses for your eFTR Jr, follow these steps:
1. Before beginning, ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface with the power switched to OFF.
2. Continue by removing the five bolts holding the battery cover in place with a 4mm Allen socket.
3. Once the cover is loose, carefully maneuver the cover around the trim panels to expose the connectors behind it. Take care to avoid misplacing the nuts retained in the cover.
4. Disconnect the battery harness connectors extending from the battery cover to the main harness, and set the cover aside.
5. Loosen and remove the two top battery bracket bolts with a 5mm Allen socket.
6. Loosen and remove the bottom two bracket bolts.
7. Lift the batteries up and out of the tray, taking care to maneuver them around the main harness and control module.
8. If reinstalling the batteries, ensure they are free of any debris to prevent damage.
9. Once your inspection is complete, open the fuse box attached to each battery with a flat-head screwdriver
10. Inspect the fuses for damage or signs of burning out and replace if necessary. Note: Amperage is located on the top of the fuse. For more on fuse replacement, see your Owner's Manual.
11. Reassemble the battery packs by placing the foam pad and bottom bracket over the two batteries. Then place the top battery over the two lowers and install the top bracket.
12. Re-install the batteries into the tray and carefully maneuver the module and foam pad onto the top battery.
13. Re-install the bottom bracket fasteners and the top bracket fasteners.
14. Torque the fasteners until fully seated.
15. Once the batteries are in place, reconnect all battery connectors to the cover harness.
16. Re-install the battery cover by pivoting it around the trim panels and ensuring the nuts retained in the cover are not misplaced.
17. Before securing, ensure the wires are routed through the cutout on the top of the cover.
18. Secure the cover in place with the five bolts and torque the fasteners until fully seated.
19. Turn the power switch to ON and verify the battery indicator operates properly.
Drive Chain and Rear Brake Inspection/Replacement
Required Tools and Supplies | |
5mm Allen Wrench | Tape Measure |
10mm Socket | Chain Lube |
19mm Socket | Safety Glasses |
19mm Wrench | Nitrile Gloves |
Phillips Screwdriver | Shop Rags |
To inspect and replace your drive chain and rear brakes on your eFTR Jr, follow these steps:
1. Begin by safely elevating the vehicle until the rear wheel is off the ground.
2. Continue by loosening the screws on the chain guard with a Phillips screwdriver and pivot the guard around the chain to remove.
3. Inspect the entire length of the chain for any wear or damage and replace as needed.
4. Counter-hold and loosen the axle nuts with a 19mm socket and wrench, but do not remove them.
5. Push the chain tensioner down to add slack to the chain. Remove the chain from the motor sprocket first and then the rear sprocket.
6. Once the chain is free from the wheel, push the wheel downward and away from the vehicle to remove.
7. Remove the nut securing the chain tensioner with a 10mm socket and slide it off the bolt to remove the bearings and the chain.
8. Clean any dirt or grit from the chain using a clean cloth. Avoid using solvents or degreasers to prevent premature wear.
9. Move to the brake pads, and use a 5mm Allen wrench to remove the two bolts holding the brake pads in place.
10. Pull the pads and spring out from the caliper.
11. Inspect the brake pads for any wear or damage, and replace as needed.
12. Install the pads and spring into the caliper. Compress the spring and align the caliper with the mounting holes.
13. Install the two mounting fasteners and torque until fully seated.
14. Continue reassembly by placing the chain in the tensioner bracket.
15. Place the two tensioner bearings inside the chain loop and slide the assembly onto the mounting stud.
16. Secure tensioner with the previously removed nut, ensuring the top cover of the tensioner is rotated to its end stop, and torque until fully seated.
17. Reinstall the wheel assembly by installing the chain around the rear sprocket and aligning the axle with the frame.
18. Lift the assembly up into place, ensuring the brake disc is installed in the caliper. Also ensure the washers are mounted on the outside of the frame and the spacers on the inside.
19. Push the chain tensioner down and maneuver the chain onto the motor sprocket. Once partially installed, the rear wheel can be turned backward to aid in chain installation.
20. Before continuing, lubricate the chain with an approved chain lubricant.
21. Once the chain is in place, tighten the rear axle nuts until fully seated.
22. Reinstall the chain guard and secure with the two guard fasteners. Torque the fasteners until fully seated.
23. To adjust the brake cable play for both the front or rear brakes, thread the brake lever adjuster in or out a quarter of a turn to half of a turn until the desired brake adjustment is attained.
24. If proper adjustment is not possible with this, loosen the rear anchor bolt with a 5mm Allen wrench and pull the brake wire to help achieve a proper adjustment.
25. Ensure the distance between the brake wire end of the cable and the anchor bolt is set between 37mm to 44mm.
26. If the brake rotor is dragging on the pads, twist the adjuster on the caliper in either direction to center the rotor on the pads.

3. Slide the front axle bolt out of the wheel while also removing the washers and spacers.
4. Remove the wheel.
5. Move to the brake pads and use a 5mm Allen wrench to remove the two bolts holding the brake pads in place.
6. Pull the pads and spring out of the caliper.
7. Inspect the brake pads for any wear or damage, and replace as needed.
8. Install the pads and spring into the caliper. Compress the spring and align the caliper with the mounting holes.
9. Install the two mounting fasteners, and torque until fully seated.
10. Continue by positioning the front wheel into the front fork and sliding the disc brake into the caliper.
11. Install a washer onto the axle bolt and slide through the fork. Then place a spacer on each side of the wheel, ensuring the wide end is facing the forks, and continue passing the bolt through the wheel hub and other fork.
12. Secure the axle bolt with a washer and locknut, and torque until fully seated.
