VIN and Information Label Locations

If you are unable to locate or read your VIN but have an engine identification number, use the Contact Us options at the bottom of the page for assistance with vehicle identification. Include your question, the engine identification number and anything that may assist in identification. Note that if you have replaced the engine, this information does not apply. 

Scout Models

1. Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) - Left side of steering head
2. Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) - Left side of frame
3. Noise Emission Control Information (NECI) - Left side of frame
4. Operator Warning/Fuel Recommendation - Top of fuel tank

Indian Springfield, Chieftain, Roadmaster, Indian Vintage and Model Year 2020 and Older Chief Models

Heavyweight Labels

1. Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) - Left side of steering head
2. Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) - Left side of frame
3. Noise Emission Control Information (NECI) - Left side of frame
4. Operator Warning/Fuel Recommendation - Top of fuel tank
5. Shock Air Pressure Warning - Under side cover
6. Rear Wheel Service Warning - Under side cover
7. Saddlebag/Cargo Warning - Inside saddlebag
8. Rear Tip-Over Bar Warning - left side of vehicle
9. Dashboard Cargo Capacity Warning - Inside fairing

FTR 1200 Models
The VIN is stamped on the right-hand side of the steering head (1) and printed on a VIN sticker located on the left-hand side of the steering head.

The Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) and Noise Emission Control Information (NECI) can be found on the emission information label. The label (2) is located on the swing arm on the left-hand side of the vehicle.

Challenger Models
1. The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is stamped on the right side of the steering head.

2. The Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) label is located on the left-hand side of the motorcycle.
3. The Noise Emission Control Information (NECI) is located on the left-hand side of the motorcycle.

4. The Operator Warning/Fuel Recommendation safety label is located on the fuel tank.
5. The Shock Pressure Warning is located under the side cover.

6. The Cargo Limit warning label is located inside the saddlebag. 
7. The windshield warning label is located on the vehicle's windshield.

Model Year 2022 and Newer Chief Models

Here is where to find the Engine Identification Number:

Chief, Indian Vintage, Indian Springfield, Chieftain, Roadmaster and Challenger Models
The engine number (1) is stamped onto the right crankcase beneath the balance shaft cover. The engine number is positioned behind the right floorboard with the engine installed in the frame.

The engine number (1) is stamped onto the bottom of the left crankcase near the sidestand.
