Chief Vernon
Samson Cree Nation
I have been a lifelong rider. In my younger years I got my riding chops on a GS750 Suzuki. When I got married, I owned a 1976 Harley.
Unfortunately, I was spending more time repairing my now vintage bike than riding it. My wife began to see my frustration and one day told me, “I will let you get a new motorcycle, but it has to be an Indian Motorcycle.” The next day I owned a brand new 2016 Indian Darkhorse. And I loved it. It rides smooth, it’s a joy to ride!
But life goes on and unfortunately my marriage did not last. My gift to myself in honor of a new chapter in my life was the 2020 Indian Challenger Darkhorse that I now ride. I fell in love with the color and look of this bike. I bought the bike in January and patiently waited for spring.
As Chief of Samson Cree Nation riding my bike is my preferred form of stress relief. There is something about riding my bike and having every molecule of my being be shaken and my cares and worries vibrated away. I feel refreshed and rejuvenated after every ride and today I get to ride with my son. I am happy Indigenous riders are finally being asked how they feel about riding their Indian Motorcycles! To me, the logo and branding of Indian Motorcycle is respectful to our Indigenous culture. I am a proud rider of my Darkhorse and Indian Challenger.
