2019+ FTR Tracker Collection Installation

This video describes the installation process for the Tracker Collection of accessories on an Indian Motorcycle FTR 1200. It includes the Tracker Seat and Cowl (0:32), Waffle Grips (3:06), Rally Foot Pegs (4:47), Front Number Plate (6:05), Side Number Plates (9:45) and Front Clear Turn Signal (13:03). 

Note: Certain items will need to be installed by your Indian Motorcycle Dealer and are not shown in this video. Always wear safety glasses and nitrile gloves when servicing your Indian Motorcycle. Before installation of any accessories, park the bike on a flat, level surface and remove the key. 

Tracker Seat and Cowl Installation
Required Tools and Supplies

  • T40 TORX® Socket
  • 6mm and 4mm Allen Sockets
  • 10mm Socket
  • Ratchet
  • Torque Wrench
  • Isopropyl Alcohol
  • Safety Glasses
  • Nitrile Gloves
  • Shop Rags

The Tracker Seat is part number 2884144-VBA. The Tracker Seat Base Cowl is part number 2884145-639 in Red, part number 2884145-266 in Thunder Black and part number 2884145-666 in Thunder Black Pearl. To install the tracker seat and cowl on your FTR 1200, follow these steps. 1. With a T40 TORX® socket, remove the two passenger handle fasteners on each side of the seat. Remove the handles. 

2. With a 6mm Allen socket, remove the seat fastener from each side of the motorcycle frame. 

3. Slide the seat back and pull up to remove the seat from the motorcycle. 

4. Install the mounting bracket on the seat cowl with the two provided bracket fasteners and two nuts. The bracket tabs should be angled forward.

5Torque the fasteners to 36 in-lbs (4 Nm) with a 10mm socket.

6. Place the tracker seat on the seat cowl. 

7. Once installed, flip the seat and cowl upside down on a clean surface. With a 6mm Allen socket, loosely install the seat to the cowl with the 12 provided seat fasteners, and torque until fully seated. 

8. Use isopropyl alcohol to clean the application surface of the seat pads. Always follow all warnings and precautions when using isopropyl alcohol. 

9. Place double-sided tape on the six pads, and attach them to the ridges of the seat cowl. 

10. Peel the backing in preparation to apply to the sub-frame, and ensure the adhesive faces upward.

11. Install the seat assembly and apply pressure at the six pad locations to ensure a secure fit onto the sub-frame. 

12. Remove the seat, and apply pressure to each pad for at least 10 seconds. Then remove the double-sided tape from each pad. 

13. Reinstall the seat, ensuring it is properly aligned at its retention points.

14. Reinstall the two seat fasteners. Torque to 84 in-lbs (9.5 Nm).

15. Reinstall each passenger handle and the two handle fasteners. Torque the fasteners to 19 ft-lbs (26 Nm).

Waffle Grips
Tools and Supplies Required

The ProTaper® Waffle Grips are part number 2884100. To install the waffle grips on your FTR 1200, follow these steps. View the instructions for this kit by searching the Accessory Installation Instruction Site.

1. With a 6mm Allen socket, loosen the bar end fastener on each side of the handlebars until the end cap and wedge anchor assembly can be removed. Removing the fastener is not necessary.

2. Align the nozzle of the air blow gun between the handlebar and grip, and carefully blow air in between the two while pulling outward on the grip. Continue this procedure until the grip has been removed. 

3. Repeat this procedure for the other grip. 

4. Identify the right hand grip. The right hand grip has a slightly larger inner diameter than the left hand grip. 

5. Thinly coat the inside of the right hand grip with isopropyl alcohol to help reduce friction during installation. 

6. Align the new grip to the handlebar, and apply air pressure between the grip and handlebar to reinstall the grip until flush. 

7. Slide the wedge anchor into the handlebar tube until the bar end is flush. Torque to 18 ft-lbs (24 Nm). Then repeat for the opposite side. 

8. Finish by verifying proper operation of the handlebar grips.

Rally Foot Peg Installation
Required Tools and Supplies

  • Pick or Flat-Blade Screwdriver
  • Safety Glasses
  • Nitrile Gloves
  • Shop Rags

The ProTaper® Rally Foot Pegs are part number 2883521. To install the rally foot pegs on your FTR 1200, follow these steps. View the instructions for this kit by searching the Accessory Installation Instruction Site.

1. Use a pick or flat-blade screwdriver to remove and discard the retaining ring from the pivot pin on each foot peg. 

2. Slide the pivot pin and remove the foot peg with spring.

3. Install the spring into the new foot peg and align with the mounting hole on the peg mount. 

4. Carefully compress the spring to align the pivot pin mounting holes. The spring will attempt to rotate during this step. A flat-blade screwdriver can help align the spring.

5. Install the pivot pin to secure the foot peg, ensuring the spring has not moved out of place.

6. Install a new retaining ring on the pivot pin, and repeat this process for the other foot peg.

Front Number Plate Installation

  • 3mm, 4mm and 5mm Allen Sockets

  • Nitrile Gloves
  • Shop Rags

The front number plate is part number 2883767. To install the front number plate on your FTR 1200, follow these steps. View the instructions for this kit by searching the Accessory Installation Instruction Site.

1. If applicable, remove the four headlight cowl fasteners with a 4mm Allen socket and remove the cowl.

2. With a 5mm Allen socket, remove the two fasteners from the top of the headlight bracket. 

3. Remove the two lower headlight fasteners at the base of the headlight bracket with a 5mm Allen socket. Turning the handlebars from lock to lock will help improve access to the lower fasteners.

4. Tilt the assembly forward to gain access to the connectors behind it.

5. Lightly push the tab on the electronic throttle connector with a flat-blade screwdriver, and slide it off the push-pin clip. Disconnecting this connector is not necessary.

6. Disconnect the headlight from the chassis harness. The headlight connector will remain installed onto the push-pin clip. 

7. Remove the headlight assembly, and carefully set it aside on a soft surface. 

8. With a 10mm socket and wrench, remove and discard two fasteners to remove the lower headlight cowl mounts. 

9. Clean the application surface with isopropyl alcohol and allow the surface to dry completely before applying the decal. Always follow all warnings and precautions when handling isopropyl alcohol. 

10. Carefully apply the decal to the front number plate.

11. Place the headlight assembly face down on a soft surface to prevent scratching. 

12. Install the two number plate brackets onto the back of the headlight bracket with the four provided fasteners and lock washers. Torque the fasteners to 96 in-lbs (11 Nm). 

13. Before proceeding, verify the brackets align properly with the number plate. Adjust and retorque the fasteners as needed.

14. Reconnect the headlight connector to the chassis harness connector. 

15. Reinstall the electronic throttle connection onto the push-pin clip on the back of the headlight mount. 

16. Reinstall the headlight assembly, and align the mounting holes, ensuring the brake and clutch cables are routed behind the middle of the headlight.

17. Reinstall the two lower fasteners while turning the handlebars as needed to improve access.

18. Install the two provided upper fasteners, the spacers and the bracket. Torque the fasteners to 96 in-lbs (11 Nm).

19. Torque the bottom headlight assembly fasteners to 84 in-lbs (9.5 Nm).

20. Mount the front number plate onto two brackets with the four provided bracket fasteners, washers, spacers and nuts. Torque the fasteners with a 3mm Allen Socket to 60 in-lbs (7 Nm). 

Side Number Plates
Required Tools and Supplies

The Side Number Plates are part number 2883505. To install the side number plates on your FTR 1200, follow these steps. Note that this installation will cover the configuration with the high mount slip-on exhaust kit already installed. Refer to the instructions included with your kit for installation without the exhaust.

1. Before proceeding, the Accessory Mounting Kit (part number 2883842) must be installed. The right side will already be installed with the high mount slip-on exhaust kit. For more on installation of that kit, view the instructions.

  • With a T40 TORX® socket, remove the two passenger handle fasteners on each side of the seat. Remove the handles. 

2. Clean the side number plate with isopropyl alcohol, and allow the surface to dry completely before applying decals. Always follow all warnings and precautions when handling isopropyl alcohol.

3. Align the decal with the mounting holes and apply to the corresponding number plate.

4. Assemble the right-hand number plate with the appropriate weld bracket. If equipped with the high mount slip-on Exhaust Kit, select the extended bracket. 

5. Firmly push the rubber grommet into the weld bracket. 

6. With a T40 TORX® socket, remove and discard the front fastener and washer on the exhaust mount.

7. Align the right-hand number plate bracket with the front exhaust mount hole and its rear mounting point.

8. Loosely install the provided rear mounting fastener and nut with a 6mm Allen socket. 

9. With a 5mm Allen socket, loosely install the provided front fastener into the exhaust mounting point and into the exhaust mount.

10. Once installed, torque the rear fastener to 96 in-lbs (11 Nm).

11. Torque the front fastener to 19 ft-lbs (26 Nm).

12. Install the left-hand weld bracket to the accessory mount with the two provided fasteners and two nuts. Use a 5mm Allen socket, 10mm wrench, 6mm Allen socket and 13mm wrench. 

13. Torque the rear fastener to 96 in-lbs (11 Nm).

14. Torque the front fastener to 19 ft-lbs (26 Nm).

15. Secure the accessory mount to the sub-frame with the two accessory mount fasteners. Torque to 19 ft-lbs (26 Nm).

16. Install the passenger handle with the two retained handle fasteners. Torque to 19 ft-lbs (26 Nm).

17. Install the right-hand number plate into the weld bracket grommet location and align the two mounting holes.

18. Install the two provided fasteners, torque to 96 in-lbs (11 Nm), and repeat the number plate installation on the other side.

Front Clear Turn Signal Installation
Tools and Supplies Required

  • 4mm and 5mm Allen Sockets
  • 10mm Socket
  • Ratchet
  • Torque Wrench
  • Flat-Blade Screwdriver or Pick
  • Safety Glasses
  • Nitrile Gloves
  • Shop Rags

The Front Clear Turn Signal is part number 2884156. To install the front clear turn signals on your FTR 1200, follow these steps. View the instructions for this kit by searching the Accessory Installation Instruction Site.

1. If applicable, remove the four headlight cowl fasteners with a 4mm Allen socket and remove the cowl.

2. With a flat-blade screwdriver or pick, disconnect the front turn signal from the chassis harness. 

3. With a 10mm socket, remove and retain the fastener and washer from the turn signal mount, and carefully remove the turn signal assembly from the motorcycle. 

4. With a 5mm Allen socket, remove the fastener securing the turn signal to the mount, and remove the turn signal.  

5. Install the new turn signal into the mount, ensuring the cable is routed properly, and secure with the retained fastener. Torque the fastener to 36 in-lbs (4 Nm). 

6. Ensure the turn signal harness routes within the channel of the turn signal mount. 

7. Install the turn signal mount onto the suspension fork with the retained fastener and washer. Torque the fastener to 36 in-lbs (4 Nm). 

8. Reconnect the turn signal connector to the chassis harness connector. 

9. Verify proper operation of the turn signal, and repeat this process for the opposite side. 

10. If applicable, install the headlight cowl and four fasteners. Torque the fasteners to 18 in-lbs (2 Nm).
