2023 Scout Sixty Black Metallic is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 495.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE the bike, BUT So I purchased my bike on the last day of 2019. It was actually my very first bike purchase and I had done my homework. I was wanting to go Harley at first but realized it was going to be out of the budget, so when I came across the Indian I realized that this was going to be the route to go, especially since I heard they had a good reputation. Most of the deal was done over the phone and texts with my sales rep. He serviced me well and answered all my questions. Once they told me I was approved I went to the store to pick it up and I fell in love instantly. The bike rides great, even beyond my expectations. I do know that I was paying more then I should and I felt like they could have given me a better deal, but I was so happy with the bike that I was alright with paying more. I did have a pleasant surprise when they gave me a $500 dollar credit when they found out that I was a veteran. So with that credit I ended up getting a passenger seat, helmet and gloves. However, when I was shopping for these accessories, I started noticing that their gear was incredibly overpriced, almost ridiculously over priced, but again, I didn’t complain because they gave me the credit. The one thing that annoyed me though was that the rep had told me that my first tune up and oil change at 500 miles was FREE. When I hit those miles, I called service to set it up and they wanted to charge me almost $400 bucks. Needless to say I wasn’t happy about it at all, in fact I made it a point to explain to them that the sales rep had told me this. They then proceeded to tell me that they couldn’t honor that. So, I ended up taking it to a very reputable bike shop in San Bernardino where they charged me only $150. It kind of left a bad taste in my mouth because I do business with people on how they treat me. I am a man of my word and expect the same in return when they tell me something. It also made me wonder how the dealership can charge $400 bucks for service but then get the same service some place else for way cheaper. I know dealerships are all about making as much money as possible, but they should also not try to gouge people when servicing or selling parts. People will notice and go elsewhere for those kind of things. I have actually been ordering after market parts on line due to the fact that the dealership is overpriced. With that being said, I am not unhappy with the purchase. The bike is my new love and I am truly happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of powers and comfortable ride! I bought my Indian scout sixty over a month ago and I couldn’t be happier. I can’t wait to get all the accessories that I want to make it my own personal style!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really REALLY nice bike My second bike. Rode a Kawasaki 500 for 8 years, wanted a "bigger" bike. Wrestled with all the options, settled on the 60. I love it. Its fast, its nimble, it's not a "girls bike" or a "starter bike". This is a legit cruiser. I have gotten so many compliments on its looks. It is an absolute blast to ride. Super quick but balanced. If you're considering one, get one!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome power I love the way this thing handles I went from a 780 pound bike to this one and at less than 550 pounds it handles like a race bike and explosive power just an amazing bike

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect motorcycle This is a motorcycle, as opposed to a computer with wheels and an engine. I am specifically trying to get away from gadgets and the Scout 60 is perfect to accomplish that goal in the motorcycle world. The Scout 60 is responsive, stable and easy to handle.for this 70 year old rider.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, “sport cruiser”? Since the brand came out under Polaris, I have been really interested in the Indian motorcycles. They look great (to me), the reviews are great and after taking a test ride I was hooked. Mine came with slip on mufflers and before taking delivery I asked the finance guy if there was any room in my approval for a tuner or intake. Fortunately, there was and the parts guy, who was very knowledgeable about all the products I mentioned, suggested the Indian brand performance intake. To my surprise it comes with a computer flash and really sounds and performs great. I am not a big fan of loud exhaust, in fact I really don't like people that rev their engines for no reason. That being said, when I wind this scout sixty up from a stop and whip through the gears close to the rev limiter, it sounds monstrous! It also gets me where I’m going with haste (Its quick!). I wouldn’t say this bike is fast because a non fairing bike is only as fast as you can put up with holding on against the wind. For me not wanting to struggle against the wind keeps me from potentially running into some legal issues. It does however get to 100mph without issue and quickly. I don’t know how much of this is attributed to the slip on exhaust, better intake and tune, but I’m sure it didn’t hurt. I have not figured out exactly what the top speed is, but without fairings and an open stretch if road, I don’t really want to. I live at the base of the rocky mountains, just below Estes Park and the road up and down the mountain seem to be what this bike was made for. The pegs are forward and high enough that they don't scrape. The engine has plenty of power and I actually love the low riding position (I’m 6’1). I am often tempted to shift my body and drag a knee (I haven’t yet, but seriously its fun on the twisty bits with the engine revving with the occasional growl and roar shifting gears out of a corner)! Perhaps the coolest thing about this bike is the classy look, to me its the ability to haul my posterior up the steepest part of the mountain at 80mph (8000 ft elevation) with my fat posterior in tow. The “parts guy” mentioned that the benefit of the Indian air intake and performance tune is that it more easily adjusts to Elevation change (pretty drastic in my situation) as other systems omit the O2 sensors and can mess up fueling and how well the bike runs with elevation change. I wish it came with bags and a cell phone holder, but there are always the next paycheck or two and the aftermarket to take care of that. Until then, I will be wearing a backpack and shoving my cell phone between my crotch and the seat. So the cell phone reminded me of the only thing I don’t like about the bike because the only time I can look at my phone (gps) is at a dead stop. Occasionally, when at a stop, I will shift it down to first gear from neutral and it will go into gear with a bit of a clunk. The only other bike I have ridden that did that was a Harley Fat Boy, except the fat boy did it in every gear. Maybe it has something to do with the characteristics of belt drive, but chain driven bikes and shaft driven bikes I’ve ridden in the past never seemed to do this. With the first gear clunk aside, this bike is awesome. Oh yeah, the other thing I don’t like about the bike has less to do with the bike and more to do with financing it. I will just say that it is best to save up and buy it with cash, because your $9,000 bike turns into $12,000 financed real quick with taxes and all that bologna. Thats true with every bike though. I have only had the bike for a total of 4 days, two of which were work days and I have easily put 500 miles on it. Luckily for me, I bought this bike on consignment and the original owner only put 750 miles on it. That was a good thing, because the first service is due at 500 miles (performed at the dealership before I signed for the bike) and the second somewhere in the 3,000 or 5,000 miles, I’m not sure which. Anyway, I love the bike, whats not to love? Its a sporty cruiser, made in America, pound for pound one of the best cruisers ever made, and it puts a smile on your face going to the store, granted you’ll have to do it with a back pack, but smiles like a kid with his backpack on the last day of school.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth and easy to handle I did the test ride on Ruby Red Scout 60. I thought the engine sounded great, the power it offered was more than enough for the type of riding you would do on a smaller cruiser bike. This bike had some options for shorter riders on it, but it was the only Scout 60 they had it seemed. I really like the red paint too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good throttle response For the size of the engine, it had good throttle response. The seat was a bit tough on my tail bone, but then I am 58 an dI have a bad back, so take it with a grain of salt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bike and comfortable ride! My friends had been bugging me for a year to get a bike and ride with them. I was skeptical as I felt too old to ride a bike being 63 years old. Well last month I finally pulled the trigger and bought a 2019 Indian Scout 60 and I'm having a blast with it. Really comfortable and easy to handle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very peppy I demo rode this at bike week and was pleased with its performance and power for such a small bike yet not intimidating for a new rider. Very light and easy to handle.
Date published: 2019-06-14
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great engine, wretched ergonomics The 60 handled well for a cruiser, and while it's the smallest engine, it's more than capable. I also rode a Bobber. The riding position absolutely sucked on both though=much worse on the Bobber. With your feet so far forward, all your weight is on your butt, and that saddle is atrocious. Within five minutes I wanted off. And that was the 60. On the bobber I felt like a "C" clamp. That riding position is absolutely evil. And that's too bad. It bends into corners nicely (as long as you don't lean too far . . . .), accelerates nicely, and has great brakes. It could be a great bike, but all the fabulous engineers' efforts pale behind the idiot who designed the seat and riding position. Just for background, I've put about 200K miles on various bikes since I got back into riding in 2004. I've currently got a Kawasaki W650, a Suzuki DRz-400, a BMW R75/5, a BMW R1100S, and a BMW R1150GS. Last summer I qualified for the BMW 100K mile award.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Demo on a Scout I wanted to try the Scout. I'm not a cruiser type of biker. It rode ok. Its small and low. Its not a long distance bike.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Scout Sixty Its a nice ride smooth with ample power don't like the positioning of the foot pegs, prefer straight down also handlebars should be further back

Rated 4 out of 5 by from smooth, comfy riding position Test rode this bike. Handles great, very comfy and has a nice and smooth motor. Powerful for a 900cc motor. Bike is light and easy to handle at a stop.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple features Great first bike. I would suggest to my sister. However does not have gas gauge. Only trip odometer. So new of a bike really
Date published: 2019-06-09
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice bike I really enjoyed this bike. Light, low seat height and plenty of power for anyone on this type of bike. Front brakes could use a little more power and lighter pull but not really any problem.
Date published: 2019-06-06
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not geared for hilly terrain Live in north central WV and wouldn’t buy this bike. Riding this bike up mountains would require the rider to spend more time shifting from 4th to 6th and back again. Also disappointed with the lack of power it had as compared to the standard Scout. This bike would probably be good for mostly flat terrain

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Bike After a lifetime of riding leaking, rattling, vibrating, loud,no brakes,no lights motorcycles. This bike is a joy. Feels and handles lighter than it is. Is very powerfull but Quiet. Brakes are great. Only things I dont like about it are,no place to store registration or anything when bags arent on it. No provision to lock it up,no fork lock, and the seat is not very comfortable after 40 miles or so.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fit for me I went from a very heavy and bulky Vstar Deluxe 1300 to my Indian Scout. I am a very small frame person but with long legs. The Vstar was too heavy for me and because of health reasons I was no longer able to hold it up. I tried the Scout and it was like riding a feather. I don't struggle with this bike. I don't feel like I am fighting the bike. I absolutely love this bike. I was amazed at the power it has. I worried I was giving up power by going to a smaller bike but I was very wrong. The Scout has so much more pep and horse power than the Vstar did!!!!!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful bike , right bike for me. Got about 300 miles on it. One thing is riding position. I have reduced reach handlebars which are still a little short ,need another 2 inches or so. I like my back to be straight. Going for another handlebar which should do it. Keep in mind I am 5 foot 10 inches tall. Go figure. Besides that the bike is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great bike for an older short rider. I loved my 2015 Chieftain but after turning 74 I started thinking that a lighter motorcycle might be the way to go. I couldn’t be happier with my 2019 Scout ABS. Nimble and powerful are two words that come to mind. The Deepwater Blue is a great color. I look forward to riding my Scout as much as I did my Chieftain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from COVID did it! Blame it on COVID. Couldn't get a haircut and needed some where to self isolate. For me at 5' 11" and 200 lb, and reasonably fit at 71, just had to get out of the house and live a little. Paid up and got the last new one they had in stock. Made the rifht choice for me. It fits me very well. Very responsive to my inputs. Almost too much power for the way I live today; could have chosen the Scout '60 maybe. Fine fit and finish. Feels compact, almost stuffed in and with the low cg it's become easy to learn again to tip it in and manage it at low speeds. Got this over the Bobber as it will take accessories the Bobber can't. Slowly getting these add-ons as I need them. Rode the Harley Sportster and a Motoguzzi V9 but this won out first time I sat on it. I was thinking of an older restored Norton 750. Buddy has one. He tinkers a lot and knows what to do. I don't and can't. Decided on new, warranty, FI, low maintenance. Also I have a leg that won't bend like it used to. That sold me on the Indian; its riding position and with a low seat height, I've got all the strength/leverage my knee will give me ready to go and it won't stiffen up after an hour. Rode road Triumphs in the'70's, was a boon docker dirt biker and then a trial's rider. But 40 years later, it's like starting again. I ride it the same way I drive my classics. Good weather, no rain in the forecast, not too far and not too fast (have changed that a bit). Interesting when I get through the garage door and look for the ride for the day how often I choose the Indian over any classic. I'm having another mid-life crisis and I'm loving it. Oh, 'all the gear, all the time!' and thanks to the You Tube videographers who make it easy to get back in the sport.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great bike I have had nothing but fun on this new motorcycle. I did have to modify it a bit because I am tall and it is not built right off the showroom floor for tall people but I have had to modify all of my motorcycles so that was expected. I really wish Indian offered a lot more options for taller people than they do but with some searching online I got this bike to be a perfect fit and I couldn't be happier with my purchase now.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First motorcycle I’m completely happy with the bike, only problem I have is with the seat. Maybe it’s me being a new rider and all, but I’ve had this bike for about two months now and ride it nonstop. But when I take excessive trips, I would say over three hours, the seat becomes highly uncomfortable. Understanding that I can get a new seat but just putting it out there. Other then that, I get nothing but compliments.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best choice I made I bought this 10 months ago and am so happy I did! This rides smoothly and even though I chose a smaller bike cause I'm very short, the power is still there. I commute an hour on this and it's still comfortable for the long rides. Also still agile enough for the winding roads I live in. I got this in the Thunder black and man do I turn heads on this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome ride I cannot get over just how great this bike looks, even sitting still. It's an absolute joy to ride and a wonderful commuter. It's not flawless by any means, the stock seat is one of the most uncomfortable things I've sat on and the stock exhaust leaves much to be desired, but these issues were fixed with aftermarket solutions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome handling and looks amazing I bought this bike a little over a month ago, and I'm so happy with it. It looks amazing and I get compliments everywhere I go. It handles amazing on corners, has lots of power, and is light enough I can push it around with no issues. For reference I'm 5'4" tall and I had to order handlebars for it because the stock ones I find are to far forwards for my height, but otherwise the bike is very comfortable for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my bike so much! I absolutely am in love with my motorcycle. I am a 5’3” woman so it is hard to find a bike that is short enough for me, but this is perfect. The colors are gorgeous and it is so fun to ride, I never want to stop. My only complaint is that there is no gas gauge but I have gotten in the habit of using my trip to keep track of when I need to fill up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bike. Hard to find accessories. Awesome bike. It’s my first motorcycle and I do love it. Reason for my 4 star is it’s been very hard to find simple upgrades and accessories for it. I ordered handlebars and can’t find extensions cable kits. I tried upgrading seat but apparently this new year doesn’t fit a lot of seats for previous years. Indian website is pretty much sold out of everything all the time. I was looking forward to tricking out my bike and hoping it be a lot easier then this but it’s not. My buddy has an iron 883 and he has zero problems finding accessories.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It’s a super bike to MOD It’s a super bike to MOD. So let’s start with the cons. The seat the stock seat .I refer to it as A one cheek seat. 20 miles and it is not comfortable to sit on anymore The stock exhaust well it did not stay stocked very long. I drilled out the first plug in the baffle. And then the second plug . Was not happy with that . And cut it in half . For a modded look . In the stock form the pipes hang out past the rear wheel . I was still not happy with the look I felt they were too big around. So I put some GP shorties on it for the look I like. The seat was replaced I have a spring rod tractor seat now. And you only get about 100 miles out of a tank before the light starts blinking and it’s going to hold about 3 gallons. That’s not very good fuel mileage. Now for the pro’s this is a fantastic bike to mod a lot of things Bolt on which makes it easy to remove things that you don’t want like the rear fender that will soon be gone . The bike has a fair amount of power and runs respectively stock form . He handles very well for a bike with a fat tire on the front . It’s quite number but not swirly like riding a moped

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2021 Scout Bobber 20 I bought this new bike about 6 weeks ago and am quite pleased with it. The Bobber 20 is a great addition to my collection. In the past I had a V Twin cruiser and a luxurious touring 2 wheeler. Currently own a very nice 3 wheeler but missed the feel of a 2 wheels. I did quite a bit of research and decided on the Scout Bobber 20 and have not been disappointed. The bike does what it was designed for.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gorgeous Motorcycle I really enjoyed demoing this bike. I was especially impressed with its slow speed handling. Most other big bikes feel awkward turning around in a parking lot, but the Indian was confidence inspiring. Out on the road it was very smooth and developed power right from idle. No need to rev this bike even to 5000 rpm. If I had any complaint it was the heat from the motor sitting at traffic lights. But, hey! this bike was built for the open road.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Bike I've Ever Owned I bought this bike back in November. I've always been a Harley rider. I was in the market for a new bike and just couldn't pass up the deal Youngblood PS offered me. I ordered the stage 1 setup with some of the money I saved compared to what I was expecting. Man, it sure has a lot of torque in those lower gears, but there's so much power throughout the range. I can't believe how well it handles...just point and go. It doesn't feel like a 750 lb bike. Everybody at the dealership, especially George and Dakota worked with me on the deal making sure I got just what I wanted. As long as bikes like this are being made I'll never go back to Harley.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Bike and Better Staff! During a quick family trip to New Mexico my twin brother and I noticed the local Indian dealership had a demo day. Being avid bike enthusests from upstate NY we couldn’t pass on the opportunity to experience New Mexico on our favorite means of transportation! The sign up was quick and easy and they even let our wife’s ride with us! We were able to sample several bikes with the amazing staff of Albuquerque, Indian dealership! They even took us on a personal tour ride to ensue we were able to experience an additional bike without our limited amount of time! We can’t thank the guys of Albuquerque Indian dealership for being so welcoming to a couple guys looking to get the most out of and opportunistic moment with our wife’s! We will absolutely be looking at the Indian line for our next bikes!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Power I’ve owned my bike for a couple years now. The bike is a blast to ride and certainly attracts a lot of attention! I’ve had a couple minor issues but the dealer bent over backwards to take care of them!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Going back to Harley - horrible experience I spent two years waiting to get this Dark Horse. After two weeks of ownership there is more rust on this bike than my H-D had after a full year of riding. The chrome trim was wrinkled the day I bought it and being warrantied along with the gas tank that hadn’t stripped bolts holding it on at purchase. Went to install the black fuel cap set today and found a rust patch the size of a quarter under the faux gas cap. Stage 1 flash was done at the dealer and now every time the bike is started, it stumbles gasping for air and stalls. There’s rust in about 6 exposed holes on the frame, after a trip to the dealer this week I saw all the new ones on the floor had paint in these holes, mine was bare metal and now fully rusted. The fork tube is also being replaced because it had a 3 inch scratch to bare metal at purchase. By the way this bike was to return to Indian as in 2016 I bought a Dark Horse that poured oil all over my garage the day I got it home. Will never buy another Indian and will surely share this experience. I was so impressed with the price of this bike for what I thought I was getting but I guess you get what you pay for. Now I’ll take a loss on this bike....again!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Dream Bike! :)) I have waited 19 years for my kids to grow old enough to finally purchase my Dream Bike. I really love my Chief Dark Horse. Ride is so smooth and comfortable and torque and acceleration are amazing. Once I am riding, I just don’t want to stop. I can ride for miles. I am 5’11 and the riding position is just perfect. I can praise enough the team of engineers, designers and painters at the Indian factory. You can tell they all take great pride of their jobs. Thank you all for helping me leaving my dream. Now back on the road ;)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ride I traded a 2013 Suzuki c90t BOSS I thought that it was a great ride until I got my Chief Dark Horse the balance of this bike is incredible, the power and comfort is awesome and is a joy to ride every day. Although I was unable to put a lot of miles one it (bought it in September of 17) I plan to give her a few more days on the road this year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Ride I bought my Darkhorse this year following two years of enjoying my Scout military tribute. I was itching for a little more comfort and size. I moved up to the Darkhorse which was customized as a Bomber and man do I love this bike! The third week I owned it I was off from Longmeadow Massachusetts on my Bomber to Syracuse NY to the flat track races to watch the wrecking crew. Top finishes all the way! A great weekend on the most comfortable and powerful motorcycle in the world.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kiwi Indian Dark horse Bought my Dark Horse in May 2016 and have loved it ever since. Everyone except my wife knew it was on order, unfortunately the day it tuned up at home i was away on business, so i received a message from my surprised wife to say "your new black baby has arrived and is safe n sound", needless to say this was not the first time a new toy had arrived without her knowledge (or will it be the last). To me Indians have always been the pinnacle of motorcycles, and this bike proves it. I have owned so many bikes over the years, but this one is a keeper. These bikes are so cool in every way Have added a pillion seat, pegs, sissy bar (for the wife, she loves it too), Rinehart mufflers (sounds awesome), Wimmer high flow air intake, mapped and tuned and more recently ape hangers. Still to come are stage 2 cams and Freedom Performance dual headers. Indians are well respected here in New Zealand due to our Kiwi legend Burt Munro (the worlds fastest Indian).

Indian Springfield
Starting at $22,499 US MSRP
2023 Indian Springfield Spirit Blue Metallic / Silver Quartz Metallic is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 375.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly good power and handling. I was surprised by the power and ease of riding this bigger cruiser. I am not used to forward controls but quickly learned to manage. The only distraction was the tall windshield that forced me to look through it. That would be something to change.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than anything else 21 k and two years later. Can't find fault. Tested them all. BMW, Honda and Harley. Those 3 couldn't touch it for ride and comfort or power. And Indian Springfield beat them in price. Harley lists a cheaper Road king with no extras. Once you get it up to Springfield standards it's 25K.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome bike I’ve had 10 bikes and my favorite was always my road king, until now. This bike is a road king on steroids. I had to make a few personal changes to the bike, like beach bars and a floor board lowering kit but now it’s as perfect as a bike can be.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not my style I liked the bike but I'm not used to a cruiser style bike. It was comfortable but felt sluggish compared to my bike. I think a Speedmaster would do almost everything this bike can do for a lot less $.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bike Loved the ride and the bike. It was a little hot next to the engine, but that may have been because it had been risen for several hours on demo. Either way, it handles amazing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Springfield Aweful Wind Buffeting for Passenger Sorry to say we traded our Yamaha Touring Bike in for a new 2018 Springfield and I hate it. Would not recommend at all if your going to have a passenger. It is debilitating pain for at least two days afterwards. We have spent alot money and time and no relief. Depressed I won't be able to ride after all the money to purchase. Don't buy without trying it first at all speeds. At home recovering from short ride yesterday in tears.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really nice ride I did a demo ride one of these models today at a poker run in Escondido, CA. It was the first time I’d ridden an Indian, I was impressed with the ride and feel of the bike, only issue I could see having is the width of the floor boards, for me they feel a little narrow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a seriously versatile and cool ride! I was determined to replace my 2007 Kawasaki Nomad with an Indian Springfield or a H-D Road King. I am a cruiser/bagger rider. This bike felt right and stole my 40 years of riding heart right away. It basically sold itself. It has power and torque to spare, looks great, and handles well. This baby is gonna be with me a while, and she's gonna get a lot of TLC, and see a lot of action. Eventually she will get custom paint because she is worth it. I would like her a little louder, but she growls nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Less is more I love this bike overall better ths any Indian I rode at the demo ride in Denton,TX hosted by Big Tex Indian. This bike has no stero, no GPS or fancy fairing. It has a windscreen and is a stylish cruiser/touring bike. It handled like a dream. It sounded just the way it should and for all it's simplicity it was far and away the best bike I rode. When it came down to it, I thought about the bike I rode in on (1999 Suzuki VL1500 LC Intruder C90). You dont miss what you never had. It has always been about the ride and the adventure. No gadgets just you and your motorcycle... That's why this was such a special ride. Everthing you need and nothing you don't.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A few issues I purchased my 2017 Springfield used Nov. 2018. It had been 40 years since I last rode (1970 CB 750 Honda). The weight was intimidating at first, but I adjusted to it. Also, this is a cruiser as opposed to a superbike so it suited my needs better. The engine is noisy (clacker) and the vibration at higher rpm's distracting. I'm looking into the realm of alternative tuning but only if it doesn't interfere with my extended warranty. Steers and handles like a feather, making trips more comfortable. The only concern I have is the front end noise. When I get to cruising speed I pull in the clutch and release the throttle only to hear the metallic sounds emanating from the front wheel. Gonna take a look at the brakes and take off the wheel and inspect the bearing. Other than these issues I love this thing!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great feel and smooth. I rode this on a demo day and really enjoyed it. I'm 5'10" and found the wind screen a little short. Power all day but wish they added a tacho so I could know the rev range of this thing. Even with the stock pipes it had a nice throaty sound. I also have 30" inseam and found the running boards a little to far forward. Really liked the bike and only have very minor issues with the fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Bike! Almost 1 year now and love it as if it was the first. Fell in love with the Springfield the first time I laid eyes on one in Sturgis. 6,500 trouble free wonderful miles without any issues. This bike handles as if its a smaller bike but rides like a big cruiser. All the comfort anyone would ever need/want and the ability to strip down with no windshield or bags. Just beautiful bike that rides like no other.

Date published: 2019-04-28
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice ride but doesn’t make me “want it”. I demoed the Springfield at the Laughlin River Run. The ride included a very long steep incline of a couple of miles straight up the hill. This taxed my bike excessively. The suspension was a little soft, too, but it handled very well. I really liked the ergonomics. The bars, seat, and foot placement fit me great. I’m 5’8” and usually have to stretch to the bars but not on the Springfield!
Date published: 2019-04-28
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Feel This is my first bike. I was a bit nervous, being a brand new rider, to buy such a large bike but it is so balanced and rides well. Having hard bags that lock are a must for a woman. I've had people ask to take pics of my bike and people pull up along side of me to tell me how much they like it. I've been riding it for about a week and have put almost 400 miles on it. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bike One of the most beautiful bikes on the road. So, great suspension, smooth and plentiful power, and amazing brakes are a fabulous bonus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bike The Springfield is a great ride, smooth and powerful. Easy clutch pull and engagement with positive gear shifts. Neutral is easy to locate. I love the 6 speed, 2k at 65mph is great. The bike is easy to lean over and keep on track.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful handling for a bike that size At the bike show in Scottsdale Arizona I took the Springfield for a demo ride. The bike is longer and heavier then any bike I have ever owned or ridden before. Naturally I was a little nervous. Any concerns I had disappeared before I had gone a mile down the road. I thought the bike was beautiful and stylish when I saw it but riding it was a real treat. Balanced, powerful, responsive are some of the words I would use to describe this bike. the bikes size and weigth were not an issue as I was going down the road. I was riding a stock bike and was surprised by the features on the bike. Windshield, cruise control, controls to switch between different styles of riding modes. There were a few things I would add to the bike. A bad back would prompt me to put a different seat with a backrest for the driver and the passenger. Highway pegs and lower add ons for the windshield to reduce the air turbulence as I went down the road. I loved the bike and now am interested in test driving a few more models with the intention of buying one soon. I’m interested in finding out how the other models compare to the Springfield.
Date published: 2019-04-06
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Differences This bike was different from my bike in many ways. It just took a little time to get use to. An example is the clutch, the clutch engaged mid release, mine is at the end of the travel. The differences were all minor and just the differences between manufactures. By the end of the demo ride, I had adjusted to the differences. I guess you could say it has its own character.

Indian Springfield Dark Horse
Starting at $23,999 US MSRP
2023 Indian Springfield Dark Horse Black Smoke is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 182.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This bike has tons of power and torque Took part in the demo ride and this beast was one of the first I got to ride, it is in my top three with the other being the classic and the roadmaster. After riding and discussing with the lead and trail riders whom both are long term indian owners I look forward to putting one of my three selections in my garage

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ride in the rain I took a test ride this afternoon, unfortunately it was raining. I found the Springfield easy to ride and saw it's potential as a long distance friend. However, the rain and the traffic I was riding in made my test ride feel even shorter than it was.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fit I had sat on the Springfield in the showroom and did not like the position of the handlebars. The Demo bike had them set a little higher and fit me perfectly. The windshield blocked enough wind to make the ride comfortable without feeling like I was following a sail. I would have liked the full fenders on this bike

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Springfield Awesome! This is my second test ride on the springfield. I've been vacillating between two touring models. This nimble quick to respond ride is exceptional in many ways. Impressed with the comfort and position of the controls, the instant throttle response, virtually silent transmission shifting, and of course the style.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Loved the "ride mode" feature...hated the color! Loved the "ride mode" feature...sport mode throttle response was very impressive. Hated the ugly White Horse paint and chrome-less look and instrument gauge. Also, why no crash bars on front and rear like other Springfield's have??? Love my 2015 two-tone red/black Vintage...keeping it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Handling! The Springfield has the larger 19" front wheel and trimmed down front fender, and you can really feel it on turn in. It just intuitively goes to the apex of the curve, smooth and effortless. A fine running machine with an engine seemingly from a locomotive!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I went for a demo ride today For a big bike it handled very well. All the controls were right where I wanted them and the acceleration was great. The only problem that I had was that at 5’ 10” I had to practically sit on the tank to reach the kick stand and had a hard time finding it to put it down.

Date published: 2019-04-20
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfy and stylish I rode the Springfield Dark Horse about twenty miles total at a demo day. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to handle and by the effortless power. I've ridden plenty of Harleys as well and the Indian is a better ride by far. The suspension soaked up bumps and the bike actually seems happy to go around corners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and smooth First time riding an Indian and I was surprised how quick it got up and moved down the hiway.
Date published: 2019-03-29
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smooth and powerful. I love the smoothness of the engine. The seat height is very good. But the bike feels big and unwieldy at slow speeds - more so than my Harley Fat Boy Lo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bike all the way around. I was very impressed by the comfort, power, and easy ride ability!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Balance good suspension style I thought about buying the DH Springfield but the cost and having to add a windshield and back rest changed my mind. Also the overall weight is a concern.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Kickin' Engine Had 16" apes on it along with a stage-2. Great ride, very smooth (either a pro or con). The apes didn't impede with handling at all either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bike...with some small drawbacks I have had my 2018 Indian Springfield Dark Horse for about 10 months now. I absolutely love the look of the flat black bike and feel it has the right touch of chrome. I'm a bigger guy so I like the overall size of this bike. Fit and finish are excellent. I love the touch of a powder coated frame. Very durable! Kudos for the remote lockable bags. Little annoyances - Tire pressure sensors seem to be an issue... they monitor low on initial startup. Turn bike off and on again and they read correctly (checked against manual gauge). Mine doesn't have different "modes" as it's an 18 model - however, an upgrade on the electronics would be nice Indian! That being said, if you're a short shifter, you'd love this but I feel like power plateaus at 3,000 RPM in first and second. Feels like you run out of steam at 2800 to 3000 RPM and you have to shift to get it moving. This may be addressed with the new "modes" but how about a retrofit for those of us early adopters with the 18 first year model DH?! Wish Indian would have done red dash lighting on the Springfield Dark Horse like they did on the Chief Dark Horse. This is just a "cool factor" thing. Overall this is a superb bike and it feels much lighter to ride than it really is. When you ride this and "feel" it, you really don't get the feel that you're on an 800 lb motorcycle. The engineers did a superb job on that front and honestly I love the suspension on this bike. It has a great amount of travel and makes for a comfortable ride. You will not "clench" up going over potholes, road cracks or railroad tracks. Big plus there! I'd love a little more comfort in the seat for when I'm riding for longer than 3 hours, but that's a normal, and universal, gripe from anyone that rides longer distances.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazingly Nimble for a heavy machine!! I purchased this bike in August of 2018 and I find myself looking outside everyday this winter to make sure it's not snowing so I can ride. The power is a constant strong pull, shifts smooth, throttle by wire is still a little querky for me but I'm sure I will adapt. I have owned 4 V-Twins including '53 Panhead, shovelhead, Evo and Twin Cam and was looking at the new bike of the competitor. Rode both and though it was difficult since I still love the others, but I can't say i ever regretted the decision to go with the Springfield Dark Horse. The handling is superb, It feels like it weighs 500 lbs not 800+! but when you are making tight turns at low speeds, you can feel it if you lean too far!!! so beware, it is heavy though it doesn't corner like it should it corners like a beast and is so smooth that I grin from ear to ear EVERY TIME I ride this bike!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Motorcycle I have owned Had this 2018 Indian Dark Horse for over 3 months now. I was hooked when I did a demo ride in May 2018. Not only is the look of the bike great, but it handles so well with the engine. I bought the smoked windscreen and black Freedom exhaust with stage 2 cams. I have had Harleys and I own two Victory's. This is now my favorite bike!

Chieftain
Starting at $22,999 US MSRP
2023 Chieftain Black Metallic is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 681.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Chieftain This bike was a great ride, sound system was awesome and the driving modes made this bike great to ride. The switch between touring and sport mode was amazing. One dislike is the seating position. Feet are too far forward and no heel shifter standard. During test ride had to stretch my foot to reach the shifter. Unfortunatly this bike is not for me but was a nice ride plenty of power and the sound system was amazing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 116 I own a 17 chieftain, I wanted to try out with the 116, and mid rise bars. For me I didn't care for the mid rise, the 116 is nice but for the type of riding I do, I don't think I'd spend the money. I like my bikes design better than the 2019, The 19s look to much like a Harley(not ditching Harleys, just like the differences).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing and surprising bike I test ride the Chieftan for one of my local dealers demo days. I gotta day I was truly impressed by the features, comfort, nimble handling, and power in such a big bike. If I was in the market for a touring bike I would 100% purchase this bike.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice ride Did a test ride at Americade. Would be interested if I could find a dealer wit a good price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent riding experience at Americade I did a demo ride at the Americade, I currently own a Harley Street Glide Special and wanted to try the Indian Chieftain. I did like the Chieftain better as far as how light the motorcycle is and it rode amazing. But some small features like the blinker only on one side I had a hard time adjusting to also no heel shifter on the one I tried out. Also had a hard time with the kickstand, I have shorter legs (hard time reaching). My next purchase I will certainly look at the Indian versus Harley, I was very impressed. Thanks again, also I want to mention the staff from Indian was excellent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice ride but design really sucks I am so disappointed in the design teams lack of vision. This is essentially a HD Street glide with Indian logos. Cheap and easy way to get converts but at the expense of your soul.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ride - Really Have Things Together I have been riding Harley Davidsons for 30+ years and have switched to an Indian. Very impressed with smooth ride and the high torque engine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice gear set, 111 a little slow Noticed the gear set was better than my street glide. The 111 is a little underpowered. Smooth ride

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great handling and power Test ride the Chieftain 116. Don't know how Polaris did it but they made a large cruiser steer smooth, light and precise. Power was smooth in touring mode and only got sharper and more fun in the two higher modes. Stereo was not intuitive and hand grips are too large for my liking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ride Great overall experience and lots of options to choose from

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ride, Really Smooth and Powerful! I had the opportunity to ride a new Chieftan with the 116 engine. It was on a demo day at Coastal Indian. This bike has everything, power, style, and it was very comfortable. For me, to check off all these boxes is rare. It made such an impression on me I intend to buy one once I've paid off my Vintage, lol!
Date published: 2019-05-21
Rated 5 out of 5 by from IMPRESSED Rode the Chieftan at your Demo Days in Knoxville. I have a Road Glide and the Chieftan is a better motorcycle in every way. I was immediately comfortable doing anything I wanted to do on the bike. power, comfort, suspension, brakes, handling, slow speed maneuvers, all were superior to my Road Glide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tork power and pickup Both my wife and I own Indians. My wife has the 2016 Classic I have 2014 Vintage

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable and sporty I've been riding naked street and adv bikes for years. I decided to take this bike for a spin and was totally impressed with it. The handling, power, ergonomics, engine and exhaust all came together for a truly enjoyable riding experience. Having the electronic adjusting windscreen and four speaker sound system let me ride around very comfortably to good tunes that could actually be heard over the sound of the wind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Serenity Well it was my first time in a bike since my accident a few years back. No better way to get back into it than hopping on a new Indian . Wonderful bikes!!! Can't wait to get one

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Demo Ride! In my 30 or so years of riding bikes. This my first experience on a bike with a fairing. Have to say I absolutely loved it. The handling on a Indian Chieftain is also outstanding. I can see a new Indian Chieftain in my near future!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Full blown rocket Had 116 kit. Everyone who’s ever thrown a leg over a motorcycle needs to ride one of these before they die. Too much fun. Probably have it installed on my 19 Chieftain

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice bike. Only dislike about the bike was I am 6"2 and felt cramped.
Date published: 2019-05-10
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazingly smooth and comfortable. I got to test ride this during the Indian days event. I have never ridden a cruiser before, just sport and dirtbikes. I was intimidated at the weight and size but this motorcycle is so balanced and smooth you don't notice it. The power windscreen is amazing too.
Date published: 2019-05-09
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This bike is so many things!! The Chieftain could be your long haul bike, your cruiser, your hooligan, whatever! I rode one with the upgraded sound system and the stage 2 performance upgrades. Aside from the standard features that come on this bike, those two really made a difference in both performance as well as ride enjoyment (gotta love cranking some tunes with your fists in the wind!) Once we have our Scout paid off soon (another amazing bike, I might add), this is on our list to add to the garage!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smooth, comfortable ride ! I have a Harley Davidson road glide and after riding this Indian bike I was very impressed. Great handling and awesome power. This bike was loaded with features and very user friendly. The control and feel was very nimble and the bike felt “light” as it is well balanced

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pain In The Rear My 2020 Chieftan Dark Horse is overall an exemplary motorcycle. 2 issues I have: I need some guidance on how to use the maps and trip planning feature; After riding a mere 80miles, my butt burts so bad I have to stop a lot of the time. Most uncomfortable seat I’ve ever had. Of course there’s no way I could have test ridden it long enough to know this. If so I wouldn’t have bought it. The mustang seat on the VTX I traded was so comfy I could ride from fillup to fillup painlessly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best decision i ever made! I bought this bike a little over a month ago and i have to say i will never go back to a Harley again. The handling and control is far beyond any other bike, so well balanced and the power of the 116 cu in engine is phenomenal. I can't say anything negative about this bike at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Dream Bike! This is my second Indian; I traded in a 2017 Chieftain Dark Horse for a 2020 Chieftain Dark Horse. These bikes are extremely nimble for being a heavy bagger. The 116 cubic inch engine has loads of power. You better hold on tight when you twist the throttle! Indian incorporated the rear cylinder disable feature for when you're sitting idle for a period of time, which really helps to keep the heat off of your legs. In terms of the onboard electronics; the user interface on Ride Command is extremely easy to use and customize. The speakers on this bike are 10 times better than the factory speakers on my 2017. The fork mounted fairing does an excellent job of keeping the wind out of your face. I upgraded my windshield to a Klock Werks flare, however, the factory windshield worked just fine in terms of wind buffeting. I really love this bike and I have gotten countless compliments and requests for photos since buying it in May. My only complaint is that the headdress on the front fender doesn't light up like it did on my 2017. Hopefully Indian will address that on future models.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfection I bought this two months ago without regret. It’s the perfect bike for myself in every way.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A few issues.... I bought this 2 months ago and I am not so happy. I love the bike but the battery completely died with 127 miles on the bike. The bike stalls on me constantly and it now only has 220 miles on it. The seat bolt was stripped (noticed it when I had to remove the battery for the shop to replace).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mirrors and Sound The mirrors look like two big bug eyes, not a fan. Pipes, shhhhh don’t talk I can’t hear my bike. Other than that, better than any Harley I ever rode.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice I love the bike. Surprised that there are still a few issues consistent with getting into 2nd gear early in the ride. It is ok once bike warms up. Would love to add Indian Accessories but too expensive. Items like genuine Indian rider backrest. Should not cost as much as they do.
